Great specialty cocktails at a good price. My sister and I walked from the Sparkman's Wharf area for a short bar crawl. It was 10 minutes and a beautiful walk along the water. Of course, this is in April when it's not sweltering hot. They have a specialty cocktail list that's $14 each. I got a strawberry lemonade, which was delicious. It really hits the spot to grab a drink and look out on the water. They have umbrellas that were nice to sit under to shade you from sun (and for us, a light sprinkle when it started to rain a bit). We were here at 1 p.m. on a Wednesday, so not a prime time at all. There were only a couple other people here so it was super easy to order a drink and grab a seat. I think it's a great idea to start at lunch at The Pearl or Boulon, walk along the river, maybe stop at the Marriott bar, come here, then walk back to Sparkman's Wharf to end the day.

Great outdoor bar and dance area outside the conference center. It's coincidently located near the river walk and several your boats. I had the pina colada they sever a variety of alcoholic beverages. Staff were attentive and DJ was awesome. He played several throw backs. The crowd is mid 30s +. It's super chill. You eat dance and relax. I recommend and hope to return. Hope you enjoy as much as I did.

The only thing I enjoyed was being by the water. Other than that.. the burger was below average and over done.. the fries were soggy and the whole entire thing was bland. I would not recommend the sail for food when there are so many better options around it.

The food was good but they need to do something about the ants on the counter. The service wasn't bad, took about 15 minutes maybe but that just let me know it was fresh. It should come with a warning label because it is juicy and you will destroy your clothes lol. The environment is A1, outside seats, music and a projector TV playing the game.

One of my favorite pit stops along the Tampa Riverwalk. This outdoor pavilion offers ample seating, shade, heating and cooling, food, drinks with official to-go cups, and sports on multiple TVs. The food is prepared next door at Big Ray's Fish Camp. They are gluten friendly and offer gluten free buns! Love the French fries. The view of water and tour boats is especially enjoyable at sunset. Always a great spot to people watch while quenching your thirst. Service has always been friendly and attentive during my visits whether they were a hot second or full dining experience. The public restrooms are steps away and typically kept clean. During the Pandemic menus are a click away via QR code. Food orders are made online since Ray's order counter is temporarily closed.

Just here for drinks on New Year's Eve. Sat pretty quick and service was as fast as it could be on a night and a year like this. Drinks are pretty good with lots of choices for alcohol. Not sure of the food but will try some day.

This place was a blast! Great setting, incredible staff, and an overall great atmosphere. Food and drinks were excellent.

I don't know why I haven't explored The Sail up until this point, because I have been across the water to establishments close by. I am so happy I gave it a shot. It is a beautiful place to go if you want to chill, have some casual drinks, people watch and perhaps partake in the public & private boat tours offered right across from it. You'll spot a lot of runners and people walking their dogs too. Drinks are reasonably priced, and service is fast, especially because you walk up to purchase your drinks and choose your own spot to set up camp. There are umbrellas to sit under, so although it was extremely hot, the gentle breeze and the shade provided by the umbrellas made in bearable. I can't wait to try out this place at sunset when it cools down.

Great place, perfect location on the water and near so many fun places - the Riverwalk, Convention Center, JW Marriott, Harbour Island and much more. Great drinks! Friendly staff. Lots of TVs to make for a great place to watch football or hockey games. Has the place been taken over by Datz? It says Datz on the umbrellas

Love this place! We stopped in to have a cocktail before we headed back to Palm Harbor. First impression...love that they are dog friendly! We were fascinated by this Weimeraner who clearly knew how to work the bartenders! Drinks were cold, service was great and ambiance...you're overlooking the river/river walk, what more do you need. Looking forward to going back!

Drinks aren't the worst but service is slow . My big Problem was that I grabbed a drink there today and I witnessed the bar literally making bee traps and drowning them ! I grabbed the manager and brought it to his attention that I wasn't sure if he was aware he was trapping and drowning an endangered species and his response was "Well it's annoying to work with them". I just thought it was ridiculous they weren't covering their bar fruit and were willingly making their own traps to not only attract but kill an endangered species, instead of just closing their fruit containers . Not to mention the bartender rudely telling me to move because I was standing in her service station when it sure seemed like it was the walk up line but either way it was approached wrong .

I wish I could give a better review for this spot because the location and ambience is great. It's right on the water, they had a good band playing on a Saturday night, and it seems like just a fun, chill place. However, the service is super slow, inaccurate, and the drinks are definitely on the pricy side considering the service. The servers were nice enough, but twice I had the incorrect mixer for my drink. The second time I mentioned it and they did fix it, but the time between ordering drinks and getting them was very long compared to most places. Some of the food sounded good, but my patience wore down and we opted to just go elsewhere so I didn't try any food. If the service could be better organized and quicker, I think it could be a fun place to hang out and take in the view on the water.

It's got that all-around fun, energetic atmosphere that makes it a solid choice for drinks. Not sure how it is during the week, but it would make for a fun date night spot to grab some cocktails. That said, I had a real hang-up the last time I went with my girlfriend around Christmas. They tried to hit us with a $10 cover just to get in, on top of $15-20 cocktails. I don't mind paying for a nice spot, but the cover felt absurd, especially since it wasn't even busy. The bouncer said we could make a reservation to avoid it, so I did...and then he made us stand outside forever before letting us in. At that point, we should've just left, but since my friend had never been, we stuck it out to try the themed Christmas cocktails. Once inside, there was a two-drink minimum per person, which is kind of crazy. It feels like they jip you either way...cover or no cover, minimum spend or not. While waiting outside (for no real reason, since it was empty), we chatted with a party of six who came straight from Ash (the sister restaurant upstairs). They'd just spent over $1,000 on their meal and were still getting charged a cover to enter Alter Ego. That's poor business, don't force extra fees to guarantee money when good music, drinks, and vibes should bring people in naturally and make them want to spend. There's plenty of places on Water Street with great (and I'd say better) cocktails where you're not forced into minimums or covers. The Christmas cocktail menu was disappointing too, poor selections and way too sugary. Love the potential here, but the strict policies really turned me off and made me want to go elsewhere next time.

The ambiance was nice. A lot of eclectic paintings on the walls. And loved the outfits of the servers. Very 20's speakeasy. There is a live jazz band that started performing at 7 pm. They were good but at some points it was a bit difficult to speak and listen to those at your table unless you got really close. My meal hit the spot. We started with a charcuterie board for the table. It had a lot of great options like dried apricots, actual honeycomb pieces, and my most favorite cheese, some Brie cheese. The only thing was there was only 4 pieces of bread, one for each of us, which wasn't enough but I guess it made sense not to fill us up too much. For my main meal I had the sweet potato salad which was very tasty and the sweet potato risotto, which a little spicy kick. The only thing I missed was the Brussels sprouts and potatoes but was told that was from the previous chef. But they serve you enough so you definitely will have left overs. Not a big fan of eating in the lounge areas, those are best just for drinks and maybe desserts. But it's definitely a great place to people watch.
