Great experience overall. The service was friendly and attentive, and the location is super convenient for me to walk to living nearby. Perfect for meeting up or stopping by after work. I just wish the happy hour selection was better and quite small, but the $12 burger and beer deal is great. Expanding the happy hour menu could bring in more business earlier and create a more lively atmosphere before the evening rush. Definitely a solid spot with room to improve. read more

Our first night in Tampa for our work trip, we ended up at Small Giant, which was right across from Roost. Small Giant boasts a split bar area with tables for dining. We sat at the front bar. They had a Tiki theme going on for food. We tried a bit of everything. All the food was great, and our server was awesome! I love the clean look of the restaurant as well. read more

Went here for early NYE drinks. The staff were super chill and kind of, especially for a busy day and what i learned would be a long night for theme as they were hosting a private event that evening. I tried the Elderflower Gin and Tonic, it was very delicious, refreshing, and balance. I didnt take a picture but amazing. They ran out or either stopped making the lavender spritz, so instead they made me a bomb Hugo Spritz before last call. They accept tap for paying, you can not leave a tab open with tap, though. There's table seating, bar seating, and two middle bars for standing space. We don't try any food but would love to come back for some. They had a themed cocktail menu for the holidays, as well. They have two unisex bathrooms, street parking and garage parking, and is connected via hallway with Wine on Water. read more

They have a couple big TV's to watch cable tv games. No sports packages tho. We really like the espresso martinis made with reposado tequila. Great service at the bar. Plan to return for happy hour. They off a late night happy hour menu too. read more

Lunch with friends at this cute restaurant was lovely. We were going to sit outside, as they have several tables, but it was just too chilly so we ate indoors instead. We were seated at the corner table so we were able to people watch. Our server, Brianna, was super nice and very attentive. I never had to ask her for a refill on my Coke Zero; she just kept them coming! We started with some shareables for the table. Kung Pao Brussel Sprouts which were done just right. We also ordered a half cheese, half pepperoni pizza to share. I've never had a "Columbus-style" pizza before. If you're wondering, the crust is somewhat thinner than most pizzas, but not a thin-crust pizza. The toppings are spread all throughout the pizza to the edge, and then cut it in squares (Tavern style). It was very tasty, with a slightly sweet note. My hubby and I ordered the Cobb Salad (without bacon) which was delicious. I really liked the onions on it. It was very fresh and they served a generous portion. Hubby ate the whole thing, but I had the rest of mine for dinner. So good! Two of our friends ordered the Truffle Mushroom Smash Burger and they loved them. I tried my buddy's tater tots, which he ordered with his French Dip. They were nice and crispy, but could have used some kind of flavoring, like Parmesan or truffle. Doesn't mean I didn't eat them all! LOL. The restaurant looks small when you enter, but in addition to the front dining area and bar, it has two additional dining areas, as you walk towards the back, and another bar. If you find yourself in the Channelside area, you should definitely try out Small Giant. read more

I love Small Giant, it's such a cute bar! I went during Christmas and the cocktails were amazing, the vibe was perfect, and it was packed in the best way. Great location right on Water Street. Service was quick to get drinks, everything tasted really good, and the energy was so fun and lively. This is a cool spot to hang out, you can still get a solid, well-made cocktail without it being outrageously priced or feeling too fancy. Definitely a go-to for good drinks and good times. Cool spot! It's been on my list for awhile and since we were doing a little holiday bar hop, this had to be on the list. They put up a bunch of great decorations with a solid holiday cocktail menu. Even though we had just eaten lunch, the egg rolls looked too good to pass up and they did not disappoint. I'd come back just for those but there are so many other options I still have to try first. First time! Came in to grab a bite to eat before the hockey game. Cute little bar. Has indoor and outdoor seating, several tvs hung around for sports. Very busy. Had a reservation, so quickly greeted and seated at an inside table. Our server, Sollima (sp?) was so sweet and very attentive. Ordered the Rachel sandwich and loaded tots. Didn't take too long for the food to arrive. The sandwich had great flavor - the only down side was that the bread was on the toasty/burnt side. I asked our server if that was normal (because I plan to return in the future and wanted to know if that is how they serve all Rachel's or if I would order again on a return trip to give it another try). She stated that in fact it is not. I explained that is good to know and that I would for sure give it another try next time. The loaded tots were bomb. Just the right amount of cheese, bacon crumbles and chives. Perfect for sharing. When our server brought the check she explained that she had removed the sandwich. I told her absolutely not. I did not want it removed I was just curious about the sandwich for future visits. It was a nice gesture but not what I was expecting. This was definitely a great find. Will 100% return. They have a great menu with good variety. I will warn you that with it being busy it gets very loud and may make it difficult to hear others in your party if you are trying to catch-up or have a conversation if that is the case the outdoor seating is better suited for quiet, thoughtful conversation. The indoor atmosphere is a fantastic way to get pumped before a Tampa Bay Lightning game!! read more

I visited Small Giant on a Saturday with a group of six. We sat outside because there was a very strong odor inside that we later determined it was Gas not coming from the restaurant but coming from somewhere else. We all ordered from the QR code provided at around the same time. Special request added to the QR code. We're not Matt and all of our food came out at wildly different times. The pizza that I ordered was fairly good, and the prices are quite good for the area. This is definitely not a fruity spot but an affordable option in the water Street district . read more

Loved the decor inside. They're not kidding when they called it SmallGiant Bar. It's small but also huge inside. I sat outside and the atmosphere was nice. The drinks were so good. We ordered the Sugar Cookie Martini and the Spiked Hot Chocolate. YUM and adorable. We also ordered the loaded fries. They were so delicious. Even cold, because of the outside weather, they held up. My friend wanted to try this place and we ordered the reposado espresso martinis and they were actually very exceptional for the price. The bartender was very friendly. We did ask if he could turn on the lightning bolts game last night however he stated that it was not on regular TV and it was hard to get the bolts on any screens in the area. We actually stepped into Yard House right after leaving small giant and Yard House had the bolts game on basically every TV screen so There is such a thing he may not have known about not being able to get it on TV in the area, but he does he does make a really good reposado espresso martini, which is actually on their menu. read more

I have been to Small Giant 4-5 times and previously rated it as a 5/5 on Yelp. When they first opened, portions were fairly large, service was quick, and prices were decent for the downtown area. It felt like a fun, modern spot for a weeknight dinner. However, the past 2 times that I have been to Small Giant, prices have gone up and portions have gone significantly down. This past weekend, we stopped by for date night and ordered a shared plate of brussel sprouts, the french dip, and the pastrami burger. Although our server was nice, the service was incredibly slow. It took over 30 minutes for our food to come out, our server never came to refill our waters, and we had to wait probably another 20-30 minutes to pay our bill. When we received our brussel sprouts, they were the same size as the side order despite being double the price. Additionally, the side of brussel sprouts that we ordered with the pastrami burger had an added cost which was not explained to us (this was a change from prior visits to Small Giant where there was no additional charge). The waiter was kind enough to bring out an additional side of brussel sprouts as he also admitted that the shared portion appeared small. However, we were very disappointed with the overall experience and the downward trend at this establishment. I would probably recommend Small Giant more as a bar at this point. read more

Small Giant is in a great location in ChannelSide but once I entered I was surprised with the minimalistic design compared to their neighbors. The service was at first slow. We sat down for 10 min until I had to call someone over to take our order. On the bright side, the service improved from that moment. We ordered the Truffle Mushroom Burger with a side of Brussels Sprouts and the CheeseStake Eggrolls. Unfortunately, the Brussels Sprouts was by far the best thing we ordered. The burger was good but most definitely not worth $22, I couldn't even taste truffle. Making this review now, I'm thinking "the burger had truffles?" I don't remember tasting any truffles. The CheeseSteak Eggrolls was decent, my only con is that they drizzled too much cheese, I couldn't even taste the steak. Overall my main criticism is the over priced food. There are some heavy weight competitors in ChannelSide and if you're trying to price match them with lower quality food then I see this place more of a bar than an actual restaurant. read more

My colleagues and I popped in to Small Giant for drinks before our team dinner, and though the bar area seemed pretty small and quiet, I enjoyed the natural light that flooded in the large wall of windows and the people watching on Water Street. I had heard good things about their Smoked Old Fashioned from a family member, so I already knew what cocktail I planned to order the moment we walked inside. The service wasn't bad but not all that attentive. But when my drink arrived, the server quickly lifted the wood from my glass in a flourish to waft the deliciously smokey smell my way, and I appreciated the show of it all. The Smoked Old Fashioned was strong and lovely, and I've recommended it to people a few times since my visit. I'm not sure if I'll be back to try dinner, as there wasn't anything vegetarian on the menu that I found all that exciting, but I may be back for another Smoked Old Fashioned soon. Cheers! read more

Perfect restaurant to have on water street. Yes, a bit expensive, but not as much as Boulon or some of the other places. Obsessed with their Cobb salad. SO BIG and absolutely delicious. Added grilled chicken. Came back a few days later in order to try their pizza that is "imported from Ohio." I wasn't sure what's so special about Ohio pizza but wow I was blown away. This place is super cute and in a convenient location. We sat at the table by the curved window and it was kind of cool to look through lol. We got the cheesesteak egg rolls to start & it was def over fried. Barely any filling inside. It was just crispy fried rice paper with a pinch of meat. Def wouldn't get again. We also got the lemon pepper wings but the outside was fried in flour. We asked the server before we ordered if it eas dry rubbed and she told us yes. But it was fried with a lemon pepper seasoned flour instead. They were alright but i wouldn't be running back for more. My friend ordered 2 spicy margs during the duration of our dinner. The first one was perfect and spicy but the second wasn't spicy at all. Def inconsistent. I got the permanent vacation but it was SOO limey. I couldn't taste the coconut or passion fruit at all. I also ordered the mule as my second cocktail and it was ok but it's weird not drinking it out of a copper mug. It just didn't hit right. The star of the show was def the French onion soup. The top was crusty and gooey. It was pure perfection and saved this review from being 1 star. Overall a cute place to stop by for a pregame drink before heading out for the night but don't expect much. read more

1st pizza was doughy and they dropped half of it on the floor, which is no big deal it happens. but then they brought us another one. Also didn't taste that great. And then we got drinks and it took over 20 minutes for us to get them and they're only half full. they also were out of stock of multiple drinks?? I added pictures for proof of the half filled drink. and when we first sat down, we didn't have water for about 10 to 15 minutes and the only way to order is the QR code and apparently their printer was down so then they didn't get half of our order which obviously isn't true because they got the order for the pizza but not for the drinks?? anyway, why are we having to tip for service even though we don't have a server?? for water street this was embarrassing just overall bad service, wobbly tables, and over priced for a bad vibe. read more

Small Giant is a great addition to Water Street in downtown Tampa. The seating is limited, so it's best to call ahead to check for availability. Luckily, we got a table quickly as we were just a few blocks away. The interior has a modern bar vibe with both regular seating and bar stools. The menu is concise but has excellent options to choose from. Our waiter was courteous and gave good recommendations. This is an ideal spot for a quick lunch or drinks with friends. What was ordered: Red Pepper Hummus / French Dip Red Pepper Hummus = Hummus can be on the dry side so I would suggest trying it with something other than the chips. Overpriced and underwhelming. We ordered the hummus to start, and although it was tasty, there wasn't much of the actual hummus. The pickle fries were great - really enjoyed that they were shaped like real fries instead of the coin cut you are used to seeing. We ordered French onion soup, which was barely warm when we got it. We asked the server if they could reheat it or bring us a new one, which they did, however it took them 20 minutes to bring back two soups, just for them to be slightly hotter than the first ones. Unfortunately, they weren't worth the wait as there wasn't even much flavor. They kindly took the soups off the bill. I'd compare the turkey club was something you can make at home - definitely not worth the price tag. read more

Small Giant Bar and Restaurant, located in downtown Tampa, is a great spot for a casual yet elevated dining experience. I went with a group of friends and we chose to sit outside, which gave us a nice view of the downtown atmosphere and a relaxed, social vibe. You have the option to order through their app or directly with the server, which is a nice convenience. Since we were using both the Offline App ($15 off) and InKind App (20% credit back on future purchases), we opted to order with the waitress so she could help apply both discounts--she was helpful and made the process smooth. I ordered the Cobb salad, and it was a great choice--huge, fresh, and full of flavor. It was more than enough to satisfy, with high-quality ingredients and a well-balanced mix. The service was quick and friendly, and prices felt fair for the quality and location. With the combination of great food, flexible ordering, and money-saving perks, Small Giant is definitely a place I'd return to. read more

I guess we were lucky to try their pizza bc so many reviews I read after the fact say it's always unavailable. I will say I was excited bc this pizza appeared to be as I know pizza in a sense of cut square pieces. Since it's coming from Ohio, I'm like oh, I'll give it a chance since it's from the Midwest which is what I like. Well this pizza looked ok. It had a good amount of sauce and cheese and the pepperoni was crunchy, but the pizza was not good and was soggy and in a way maybe was not cooked as thoroughly. Not only did the pizza seem not totally cooked or something like that, it was also cut in a lazy manner. There were huge pieces that we managed to cut with our bread knife which is not the easiest to cut with. I eventually ate the toppings which were easy to fall off this soggy pizza. Service was ok, Ambiance - if you don't like painfully loud where you can't talk with whom you came with, go outside because it's that loud. Outside is nice, but there will always be people just hanging out with their groups after they finish eating loud enough so you can hear every word they say. Def not a great choice, they do have other options here for food. It's not just four options for pizza, there's various apps, and food, sandwich options and drinks which seems to be why people come here more than anything is my guess. But the atmosphere inside is just plain and very dark brown, nothing eye catching to say the least. I'll pass next time. read more

I had to update my review because the food quality has majorly changed. This used to be my favorite spot in the area but now I am not sure that I will go back. The cocktails were just okay, the tater tots had an after taste, and the pizza was not good. The pizza used to be my favorite in the area but the quality of ingredients has gone way down.
