We were able to make a reservation a few days in advance and sit at our wonderful table facing approximately 10 screens for the entire game. I'll give it 1star because it's a beautiful place, they definitely put a lot of money into it and it has such potential. We went once and it just simply wasn't good, all 3 of us were unimpressed with the food and drink. Service was good though. Then neighbors of ours wanted to go so we gave it a 2nd chance and this experience was even worse. I mean we were literally looking around thinking we were being pranked It's disappointing because it has such potential but it just not hitting the mark. Menu needs to be redone (better options) because the options really don't suit everyone... we were all having a hard time finding even one good option. Chicken piccata should have piccata sauce (capers and such) what I received was bland and flavorless. Sushi was alright, fresh, but very basic (could use some flavor) Martini flight- I don't even know where to start, it's this big metal floral display that they sit in front of you and it completely blocks your view making it hard to talk to who you're dining with (the cosmo was awful, none of us could drink it) the Lychee martini was delish. The dirty martini was so watered down that it just tasted like melted ice and olive juice... it tasted like what was left over in the shaker after an actual dirty martini was poured. Lastly, we all received our meals at different times so there was this awkward feeling of do I eat when others don't have food, but I need to eat before it gets cold.... So I eat and I'm completely finished before two people even have food. The waitress was apologetic and sweet... she felt bad and even looked embarrassed by the food. Overall, I enjoyed the experience, but I wish I liked the food more. We came on a Saturday morning for brunch. I was really worried about parking because I remembered what it was like with that early on, but it seems like their parking has expanded. I think it's because it's now right next to a fitness studio that together they realize they needed a lot more parking, so there is quite a bit of parking in the parking lot behind it. That being said the restaurant wasn't that crowded so I don't know what it's like when both the restaurant and the fitness studio is crowded, but for a Saturday brunch, we had no issues finding a parking spot. We primarily came because the kids wanted to try the arcade. We got super lucky that the kids went into the arcade before a birthday party started. Once the birthday party started, they put out a sign that said there was a private event so it was completely closed to the public. That would've been such a disappointment so if you are really looking forward to the arcade like my kids are, I think it's worth a call ahead of time to make sure there is no private event that has booked that space. Overall, I wish I like the food better. The pretzel board was delicious and definitely a highlight. I got a mint tea that was absolutely amazing. At first. I felt like it was a little too sweet, but I really warmed up to it. Next time I should ask though for the sweetener on the side for me to control the sweetness level. I got the steak hash, and I wasn't a big fan. The steak was slightly over salted, although it was cooked perfectly. The potato hash was huge chunks of potatoes, so I just felt like it was a major potato overload. Overall, for the price of the dish, I thought it would be much better. I think fewer potatoes would have made it better, because the meat if it wasn't over salted would have been quite good. I got my eggs sunny side up and they were cooked perfectly. I really appreciate their kids menu, it has pictures of all the food so the kids were able to look at the pictures to choose. They both wanted their own pizza, one with fries, the other with fruit. The fries were delicious my son love them, the fruit was also good. They both only ate one slice of their pizza so we definitely could've gotten them one pizza to share. I got them both gummy bear lemonade, and it was actually quite sour to my surprise. We asked to switch out one lemonade for a Coke when my older son wouldn't drink it. I was surprised that we ended up being charged for both the Coke and the gummy bear lemonade when he didn't drink it. However, overall, our service was fantastic so I'm not going to let that small thing dampen my review of the service. My husband got the Caesar wrap, he really enjoyed it. He got truffle fries, which ended up being a good call because my older son ate all the fries. My husband got a margarita and really liked it. Overall, I think they do drinks well here. We sat outside and it was gorgeous. It's fully covered. We didn't feel that hot and they do have TV so you can watch sports. I do love the decor of this place overall. The first time I went was during a big love island watch party to service wasn't as fast but still friendly. I ordered the buffalo wings and a few drinks and everything came out well. I came back a week later but on a Tuesday and didn't realize that the happy hour menu was only during the same time on Thursdays. The waitress was still very accommodating and allowed me to order the tower for 2 even though it technically wasn't on the menu. The pasta was a bit on the saltier side and I'd love if there was something different in place of the cheese but I love the concept. Had a fun time having a drink and playing some games at 1983. They have a big bar and lots of tables, but also a decent size gaming area!! Lots of fun games like ski ball, air hockey, shootings games etc. It's not very big but definitely enough to have some fun! Tried 1983 for the first time tonight for the Girls Who Sip event they will host every Thursday 5-8pm. Networking, headshots, light bites & drinks - my dream. I was impressed by the display and the food. It was hot out but the outdoor patio was completely shaded and had a good amount of fans. Our server Justin was THE BEST!!!!! Nice and kinda upscale sports bar ... I like the way the outdoor area blends into the indoor area. There are a bunch of arcade type of games which provides a pleasure distraction if you're looking for a kids friendly place where the adults can let the kids loss while you enjoy an adult beverage. Bunches of TVs which I imagine makes this a great place to watch sports ... though parking seemed a bit limited. 1983 is such a fun, well-rounded spot in Tampa. It's relatively new, and I went twice in the same week which says a lot. The first visit was a girls' night, and the food truly impressed us. I loved it so much that I suggested we come back that same week for Football Sunday, and it ended up being the perfect game-day spot. We sat outside, there were plenty of TVs, and the vibe was lively without feeling overwhelming great for groups. They also have an arcade, which adds a fun touch for both kids and adults. The staff was genuinely kind and welcoming during both visits, which really made the experience even better. Parking was easy during the weekday with a lot in the back. On Sunday, valet was required (likely due to the crowd) and was around $5 totally reasonable. Went to 1983 for the first time last night for the Love Island Casa Amor viewing event. Off rip the first thing I noticed was that they definitely need a better parking situation. There is overflow parking in the back but that still wasn't enough unfortunately. Upon entering, the restaurant is very aesthetically pleasing, beautiful really! There is a restaurant side, a semi-outdoor portion in the middle and an arcade/ bar on the other side. They really thought of everything! My friends and I ordered two martini towers, wings, truffle fries, a buffalo chicken flat bread, a spicy tuna roll, an 83 tower consisting of a kale caesar salad, spicy vodka rigatoni, truffle fries and Parmesan cheese, and the cookie skillet all off of the happy hour menu. Unfortunately, our martini towers and the 83 tower were taking a very long time to come out after everything else had already arrived at the table and we had to ask a couple of times about the status on them. However, manager Karen was so kind and offered to take them off of the bill for us. She also floated around the restaurant conversing with patrons ensuring everything was good and everyone was having a good time. I think this is a great establishment with a lot of potential I just think that when hosting such a big event with a television personality appearance they should have staffed up the kitchen/ bar and prepared staff a little better for such a large turn out. Fun place for the family in South Tampa. My kids are still at that age where they love Dave N Busters. But that's in Brandon. I'm not saying that 1983 is the equivalent to DNB. It's not. Their arcade is smaller and more expensive. But it can scatch an itch when the kids want to play video games and I don't feel like driving to Brandon. I made reservations on Opentable, and the table was ready when we arrived. We had a nice seat in the main dining room. Lots of games going on in the background, but we could hold a conversation. The menu was fine for what it was. Nothing particularly innovative, but then neither is DNB. My daughter loved that she had so many options with her kids meal (she chose the mac and cheese, the french fries, the gummi bear lemonade, and the scoop of vanilla ice cream). My husband got a burger, which he described as "fine." He asked for a side salad with ranch instead of the fries, and he said that they were rather stingy with the dressing, to the point that he had to ask for more. I had the spinach and bacon salad with skirt steak. It was pretty good. The steak was cooked to medium rare, which I liked. The beverage menu was fine, more in line with a restaurant focused on brunch than dinner, but I guess that's what the beer was for! The wine list was not impressive for a restaurant that offers a $69 ribeye. My first choice of beer was out, and the second choice only had half a glass left in the tap (she brought it to me for free). I ordered a glass of the only rose on the menu, and it was fine but not worth reordering. All in all, it was a fine meal out, but it wasn't fine dining. - Parking - Not very many spots in the front of the restaurant. They do have valet for $7 but there were spots available across the street for free. - Drinks - The margarita was a favorite for our group. It's not free which sucks but it cute if you want to take the fun inside. - Conclusion - Would recommend for others to check this place out. Everything we ordered was really good. Highly recommend getting the fried green tomatoes, wings, and the Philly cheesesteak eggroll for apps! I would get those again. Overall, the food is pretty good (nothing special) and it has a very nice vibe! There's traditional indoor seating that looks more formal, as well as covered indoor/outdoor style seating. I really loved the staff there when they initially opened, and that's what was bringing me back, but I've noticed alot of the staff (especially bartenders) is no longer there. Oh, how I dreamed of a place like this when the kids were little - a kid friendly bar close to home with entertainment for everyone. I would have been happy to take shifts watching the kids in the game room while adults watched the game on the other side of the restaurant. The restaurant is beautifully designed, light and bright with high ceilings, a change from your typical dark sports bar. On the other side are the games, which consisted of what you'd find at a skating rink or bowling alley, not the nostalgia of the 80s, but your kids will be pleased. They will probably enjoy the menu more than we did. Our family of four recently visited 1983 for lunch and to play games afterwards in the game room. Unfortunately there was a private party that Saturday afternoon so we were unable to check out the game room, but we did have lunch during our visit. My husband and I are not sport fans so we were not there for the sports playing on the flatscreens that covered every wall of the restaurant, but we did love how family friendly the restaurant was and we were never worried if our boys were talking too loud. My husband had been to 1983 for a business meeting a few days prior to our visit and knew he wanted to order the chicken tenders and waffle fries tower for the table. The tower included our choice of five sauces. The roasted garlic aioli was my favorite sauce and I regretted not ordering more aiolis and instead of the mediocre Thai chili sauce and barbecue sauce we ordered. The Vietnamese salsa was good, but the texture was more like a chunky relish and it was awkward to try to dunk the tenders and fries in it. We paid $5 more for the cheese fondue sauce and it was delicious, but the portion was incredibly tiny for $5. I would like to try some other items on the menu since I typically don't order chicken tenders and fries. The one wildly disappointing item on the menu were the martinis. I ordered the martini flight and it ranged from overly sweet to some of the worst martinis I have ever had. I selected the Espresso Martini, French Martini, Lemon Drop and Dirty Martini as my four choices. The presentation was super fun, but the taste was absolutely awful. I do prefer a top shelf vodka or gin in my martinis, but I suspect that the mixers and the bartender were at fault. The espresso martini was very odd in taste. I believe that the bartender used a coffee liqueur instead of espresso in the martini. The French Martini was overly sweet, but not nearly as offensive as the Lemon Martini that tasted like lemon household cleaning products. Please consider using fresh juices in your cocktails: it makes such a huge difference! The Dirty Martini should be banned from this restaurant because it was criminally bad. It reeked of cheap Vermouth. Personally I swirl just a few drops of Vermouth in my martini glass and then I toss out any excess in the sink. I then use a combination of 3 parts vodka/gin and one part olive juice to make the filthiest Dirty Martini. Feel free to steal my recipe. It's delicious and my friends and family agree that it's the best! We will definitely return, especially to see the game room, but I will skip the cocktail menu in the future and stick with a beer or bottled beverage. read more

A mediocre sandwich with no drink and the bill was $32 before tip. Would much rather go to Mad Dog or somewhere else in the area for tavern/pub food that is good, reasonably priced, and has consistent service. I had been driving by this place for a while and was excited to finally give it a try. My fiancé, some friends, and I decided it would be the perfect spot to watch the Colombia vs. Portugal World Cup match last Saturday night. When we arrived, a couple of our friends were already sitting at the bar. I grabbed a seat there while my fiancé joined the rest of the group at a nearby table. The bar seats around 8-10 people, and there were only about 5-6 customers sitting there, so it wasn't particularly busy. After waiting 5-7 minutes without being acknowledged, I stood up to try to get the attention of one of the two bartenders. Another 10 minutes passed without so much as eye contact or a simple "I'll be right with you." At that point, my friends even commented that it almost felt intentional. After another 5 minutes, I gave up. Waiting over 20 minutes without any acknowledgment is simply unacceptable, especially when the bar isn't crowded. To make matters worse, my fiancé eventually managed to get me a drink after waiting herself, but by then I didn't even want to spend money at an establishment that seemed to have so little regard for customer service. There are far too many great restaurants and bars in Tampa to waste your time here. The prices certainly aren't budget-friendly, which makes the lack of service even more disappointing. Based on my experience, I can't recommend this place. Save yourself the frustration, time, and money, and choose one of the many better options Tampa has to offer. read more

I have really tried to like this place, but unfortunately, I cannot recommend it based on our recent experience. While the atmosphere was okay, the prices are absolutely outrageous for what you get. Service was lacking, our server wasn't able to make any liquor recommendations for a mojito. I ordered the chicken caesar wrap specifically with no croutons due to a preference, yet it arrived loaded with them. I didn't send it back only because someone else in our party already had to send their food back because it was inedible. To make matters worse, we were charged $2.00 for side sauces (ranch) that arrived in metal ramekins and were barely touched, which felt like nickel-and-diming. For 2 people, 2 menu items, and 5 drinks, the bill totaled $165. That price is crazy for the quality of food and service we received. read more
