They offer a solid selection of beers made in house as well as coffee and breakfast in the mornings! @pedals.and.pintglasses and I took advantage of their Lunch/Dinner menu for some incredible double smashies! Owners/Brewers Jordan Copher, Tyler Sankey, and Nick Streeter really made something special here off Cass Street. Chef Nathan Hardin's menu is quite delicious too! We had the Spicy Pimento to start: Spreadable Cheese using Habanero Cheddar served with Fried Saltines. We also had the Classic Boi and Deluxe Boi double with Waffle Fries. Stopped in before the Lightning game last week to grab a beer and a delicious smash burger! Late Start is the brewery, and Mighty Fine is their smash burger concept, they share the same location. They offer solid house-made brews along with guest taps. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, including tables and bar seating. I love the bar's theming it's modern, fun, and well done. There's one TV if you want to catch a game, but it's definitely not a sports bar vibe. We ordered the smash burgers and fries, and they were incredible. A true smash burger, super flavorful and cooked perfectly. the sauce was *chefs kiss* as well. I'd absolutely come back for another brew and burger. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it! This might be one of the best smash burgers in Tampa so far, so definitely give it a try. Holy bacon taco, what a find! Perched on the edge of downtown Tampa, Late Start is the buzzy blue building, with its own brewery, serving up its own craft beer and locally roasted coffee. Also on tap: gentle morning vibes, that are somehow both energizing and hazy at the same time. Late start is a great start, transitioning into the weekend. I stopped in on a Friday morning around 8:30. You order at the counter just inside the door, then grab whatever seat you'd like and they'll bring out your food/drinks. I ordered the bacon tacos with a side of hash browns and a can of Diet Coke (I almost went with matcha, but decided I wanted to concentrate on the food flavors). The hash browns were coin shaped and crunchy-a generous portion. And the bacon and egg tacos.... WOW!!!! The soft shells were solid and held up to all the filings. The scrambled eggs were so tasty and cooked well--and the bacon was both crunchy and chewy...and not at all fatty. Sometimes,, when you order a breakfast sandwich, the bacon is an afterthought... it's there, but not in great quantity or of top quality. Not here! The bacon was perfect on each taco (yeah, I had two!)... exquisite, really. I could burst into song or sonnet over that bacon-swine so fine. I wonder if the effortlessly cool people at the tables near me could tell I was having a moment and melting into breakfast bliss? It was lively and busy but not crowded or frantic. There were several tables, from two seaters to long gathering spots... and counter seating near the taps, for a little later in the day and stools near the front. You can also sit outside, on two sides of the building. On nice days, there's a garage door and window, they can open, to create an indoor/outdoor experience. The menu isn't large but if the lunch/dinner options are as tasty and filling as the breakfast fare, I'm excited to go back. I'll bring the friends at night and report back. P.s. as of January 23, 2026 there's some construction right next door, blocking roads/access right outside. I wasn't overly familiar with this exact area and ended up parking in a pay-through-an-app lot next door. Been wanting to try the burgers here for a long time and finally had the opportunity to. Went on a Friday evening and it was quite busy inside with only tables open outside. No problem, we had a toddler with us anyway so this gave us more freedom. Good thing he doesn't know what the songs playing outside meant, there was a lot of vulgar language. I'd say it's not a place to take your kids unless you don't mind it. Found it strange we had to order at the bar but again, it is a brewery that sells food. It was nice they gave buzzers so we could sit outside and wait for our food. Food took awhile but they were busy and it was all made fresh so it was worth it. Bottom line, if you like smash burgers, you'll love it here. Cooked well and flavors were amazing - I just wish you could add more toppings like lettuce and tomato. Fries were crispy but unfortunately, way over seasoned. If we go again, I'd request either no or light seasoning. We we're disappointed with the hot dog chili though. It had an odd flavor we couldn't pinpoint. Either it was cinnamon or star anise or something similar. Also, the nuggets were rugged. I saw feather hairs fried into the batter...would not recommend. Late Start is such a fun concept! Coffee shop, brewery, and burger place all in one! The slave is small with limited seating, although there is some outdoor seating as well. Bar staff were all very friendly and running around on a busy Saturday when we visited. The hazy IPA was so enjoyable, I didn't end up trying anything else. Even though it was busy and loud that day, we enjoyed our visit! Parking could be challenging, but we luckily found street parking nearby. Can't wait to come back for coffee and a burger! read more

I'm from Los Angeles CA the smash burger capital of the world and mighty fine/late start dog walks every single one of those places. I might even like it more than in n out. Their fry sauce is gas, their sesame bun burger I think is slightly better than the potato bun version. Their fries and fried pickles are delicious. I just tried their breakfast tacos for the first time earlier this week. Also fucking delicious. I wanna try the patty melt and chicken sandwich next times I go. But it takes a lot for me to go out of my way to leave a positive review but this may be like top 3 favorite spots to eat in Tampa. Maybe even #1. They have a parking lot which is small, but there is plenty of free street parking a few blocks away near the apartment complexes. The inside is decorated cool and I like that it has a garage to open for an indoor/outdoor vibe when the weather is nicer. All the staff were super helpful - you order at the counter and then get a buzzer for when your food is ready. I had the single patty burger and it was amazing!!!! While finding this place - I came in with no dea what I wanted to get - so I order a class boi single - my husband ordered the hot dog - after an abnormal amount of time - grabbing our food from the counter - I was told they accidentally gave me a double cheeseburger - I figured just pulling everything apart would work fine .... First time here. If you like the Frat House feel this place is for you. The smash burger was delicious the waffle fries were ok the beer was good. The service is horrible. The employees were drinking alcohol including the cooks. You order at the bar. The food comes with no condiments. When asking for ketchup the frat bro with his hat on backwards acts like he's doing you a favor when responding to you. This place has a lot of potential if they focus on customer service. I'm bummed that I had to write a not so good review after my good experience last time I dine here. I went for a morning walk & wanted to try their breakfast. It was only 3 other people in the restaurant. We walked in, expecting to be greeted but the 2 guys working behind the counter literally both looked at us in our face & said nothing . We begin looking at the menu while standing at the register and a couple mins past, made eye contact again. Still no "one min" or anything. At this point, I'm one to walk out but was extending grace after my long walk bc I was hungry. After about 5 mins & practically memorizing the menu, someone came from the back. She was nice and greeted us soon as she turned the corner. We order & sat down waiting for our food. My new pumpkin latte was disgusting. The breakfast taco was good & pretty big . What upset me was another patron walked in as we were eating and you would've thought they rolled out the red carpet for her. Both guys behind the counter yelled her name and applied their voices greeting her. Hubby and I were visiting Tampa this past weekend. We needed a lunch spot/brewery and wanted to try a new place. Late Start looked amazing so it was an easy decision. We arrived just after noon and ordered a couple brews. I tried the Layered Up double fruited sour. It was like a bubbly fruit smoothie and so tasty. Probably one of the most unique drinks I've ever had. My second beer was the guava gose which was yummy and not too sweet. Hubby enjoyed a couple Sunset Junkie hazy IPAs. We shared a double classic boi and waffle fries. The burger was so delicious! The crispy edges were my favorite part. The cheese was perfectly melty. I loved the special sauce and potato bun. The waffle fries were done really well and so good with the fry sauce. Downtown Tampa views were really cool. The weather was great so they had the doors open. Great spot for outdoor dining, good for larger groups and kids. The bartenders were awesome! Huge fan of Late Start and Mighty Fine! The staff is exceptional - in my experience, the bartenders take the time to know your name, spark conversation, and even introduce you to people around you (my recent Late Start experience was solo to watch the Bucs game at the bar, so maybe that's why, but regardless, it was awesome). I started with a pistachio milk cappuccino and ended with a smashburger and a liquid death. They have a ton of non-alcoholic bevvies for those who don't partake, ranging from energy drinks and sparkling waters to fruit sodas and CBD cans. I did try their sour on tap and apple pie cider on tap - I thought the cider was phenomenal and I liked the sour. The barstools were kind of uncomfortable for me to lean back and look up at the TVs to watch the game because the back is super short, but if that's my only nitpicking concern with the place, I'll certainly suck it up and enjoy. I can't wait to watch more games here, try more of their drinks, and keep upping my smashburger game. I sat at Late Start for over 4 hours - one hour with a friend at a table, and 3 hours alone at the bar, and it flew by. Not because the Bucs game was super interesting (we did win, in case anyone was wondering!) but because of the energy at this place, the friendliness of the staff (especially Tyler!) and the great food and drinks. I also love that when the weather's nice, they can open the big window/door and make it more of an open-air space. There's outdoor and indoor seating. The service was polite and present (it's a weird sort of fast casual setup) but wasn't terribly knowledgeable about their beverage options. I know what I'm looking for so it didn't affect me but I was seated at the counter and I heard two different people get a little frustrated. But, hey. It could have been that person's first day; if not, they might want to provide a beer book for guests or more training for service staff. Parking is bizarre and I don't know how we all weren't towed. The only disappointing thing about Late Start is how long I waited to go. It was a little crowded (and rightly so) but I didn't wait long for a place to sit. Had the deluxe boi and the rotating burger - the Hot Dang Rodeo boi. I love Nebraska Mini Mart but this is hands down a better burger for my taste. Crispy edges on the patty, great sesame seed bun. We loved our visit to Late Start! Let me first say...as a non-beer drinker that always winds up a breweries...I am thrilled that this brewery has wine based cocktails on the menu. They even have one on draft! I tried both, and they were AMAZING! Everyone really loved the Sunset Junkie and the thai tea inspired sour. We tried some of the food from.Mightly Fine and it was delicious! We tried the Pimernto Boi, Chicky Sando, Fried Pickles and Green Pimento Spread. My husband was hording his burger, so I didn't get to try that. Lol. The Chicky Sando was BOMB. I loved that it is a chicken thigh, so it was tender and moist with a crunchy exterior. That white bbq miso was also wildly delicious. The pickles and the pimento spread were also really great. I will be frying all saltines from here on out. The atmosphere was chill and service was expeoptional...much better than a typical brewery. 10/10 will be back soon to try all the drinks and all the foods in this cute space! read more

Cute place just opened on Cass st. Close to Nebraska. Plenty of parking out front. My first time there and I may adjust my score as I visit more often and try the rest of menu. Friendly service, very clean location and plenty of sitting inside & outside (in case you want to bring your dogs to sit outside). Simple menu and the tacos I ordered were very tasty. I ordered the bacon taco and chorizo taco. Plenty of flavors and nicely seasoned. Soft Taco shell war warm and didn't break up like some soft tacos can when you're eating them. With Starlight Taco, it is going to be hard to beat their tacos but as breakfast tacos, these were really good. Ordered a latte that could've been hotter but I was on a call and maybe it just cooled down very fast while I was talking to my wife. Need to go again and order a beer, cold brew and definitely try the churros. This location should be fit by the many new residents thanks to all of the apartment development in this area. I've foolishly given this place my money more than once ( 3X) even after waiting 35 mins for a burger ( 2nd visit) after calling ahead . I thought man , it's conveniently located to work they have coffee, burgers, breakfast tacos and it gives me that " small business " feel that I prefer to patronize over the bigger names. I'm thinking , I can definitely make this work. That being said, I think it's fair to say , that I am qualified to give a review. Critiquing staff is a first for me because like , I get it , we all have bad days but this one deserves noting . The main "barista" or hostess ( Hispanic male with glasses ) couldn't care less about you unless you're a 20 something year old female (multiple coworkers of mine share the same sentiment) . Barely greets you, works slooooowwww as molasses and coffee isn't even that good - cold brew was probably weeks old or just drip coffee over ice ( 1st visit) . 30 min wait for a latte and no one said anything to me but another patron in disbelief ( "is that ALL you were waiting for " ) when I got it ( 3rd visit ) . 25 mins into my wait here comes another FOH staff member, who promptly took my money and began filling ketchups servings as if that's important when the place is buzzing with customers . Open kitchen concept is cool, until you see staff eating ( actively chewing food, also 3rd visit ) while over the grill. Bottom line , Coffee is trash, burger was mid and the owner needs to have a talk / re-train his staff. read more

Burger was super well done so my wife didn't like her burger cause was very dry. The patty melt was actually good but because it was smothered in sauce.
