Tampa, FL Inside the Barrymore Hotel in Riverwalk Tampa there is a restaurant that very few know about. It's called Gaudin Kitchen and Bar. Had the pleasure in visiting them and had good time. The place is laid back and has a relaxing atmosphere. The food and drinks are good. The staff were attentive and hospitable. This is what I have: 1) Gaudin Crispy Wings 2) Smoked Salmon Filet 3) Planters Punch Drink 4) Sasparilla Float Drink

My wife and I enjoyed an Impossible Burger (Veggie Burger) and a Smashburger with Cheese. Both were delicious. Love the fact that this dining room is in the Barrymore Hotel across the street from the Straz Theater.

Musicians from the National Broadway Tour of Wicked eating and Gaudin Kitchen and Bar
David T.

This place is no ordinary hotel restaurant. The food is excellent, the service is personable and efficient, and the prices are a bit lower than you might expect for a hotel restaurant in a prime downtown location. As a musician for the Broadway national tour of Wicked, several of my fellow musicians and I ate our meals between shows here during the 3 weeks we were in Tampa, and each time we were impressed with the service and quality of food. Over several visits we had different servers. All of them were great, but more than once we had Komar and he really impressed us every time. We were never there with less than 6 people, and all of us requested separate checks. Komar never wrote our orders down, and never made a mistake when he delivered our dinners! At the end our checks were correct and delivered in a timely fashion. I ordered the Southern Fried Catfish and Cheese Grits twice and each time I was thrilled with the quality of the meal. I also enjoyed the Stout Burger and the Corn Flake Chicken Schnitzel, so you will have to decide which one to order - they're all great! Do yourself a favor and have a nice meal before the show at the Gaudin Kitchen and Bar in the Barrymore Hotel - Ask for Komar, but if he's not there all of the wait staff will treat you right!

Catfish & Gouda grits.
Vickie M.

An interesting concept, probably because this hotel also houses college students . You walk up to the counter, order what you want & they bring it to the table in a box. I ordered the catfish with the Gouda grits. The grits were excellent however the catfish could have used a little more seasoning & it was a little tough. Even with that being said, the grits alone were enough to come back for a 2nd visit.

The food was unbelievable. For someone who has traveled and ate all over just the simple pizza and chicken tenders was one of the best I've had. I will say the con might be the breakfast because of the fact the servers don't really acknowledge you and saw a server yelling at a person for leaving before food was there because it was taking very long. I would say the dinner and bar vibes are an A+++ but breakfast a F maybe because it was full but the service was disappointing sitting there for 15 minutes I thought I was invisible for a second.

Oak and Ola - Amazing food !!

Delicious food with a lively atmosphere and welcoming staff - what more could you ask for?…read more I visited Oak and Ola for a birthday dinner and had an amazing time. Rather than trying to search for parking, we just paid $20 for the lot right nearby and it worked out great for us. We had a large group and our waiter, Zachary, was amazing. He had plenty of recommendations, anecdotes, stories, and jokes to keep everyone happy and full. He was definitely a highlight for all of us. We had a variety of drinks, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed them. I had the Sacred Empress and was so impressed with the balance of flavors - mostly sweet with a slight punch from the serrano cilantro simple syrup. It sounds funky but trust me on this! We also split a bottle of the Lagar De Costa Albariño, at the recommendation of our waiter, and we all loved it. For food, we started with the Lobster Ravioli, Truffle Frites, Crispy Pork Belly Bites, Crunch Love Caesar Salad, and Olives. All were devoured and I think the crowd favorites were the Lobster Ravioli (though expensive, $26 for 3) and the Pork Belly Bites. For mains, most people tended to get either the Steak Frites or the Gulf Fish Amandine (which was snapper). My steak and another at the table were both way overcooked on the first go around but they very quickly remade them (and the fries) and got them back to us in 5 minutes, perfectly cooked. It was a delicious and filling dish. The Gulf Fish Amandine was also really tasty, but it felt like it was missing something like a starch. It's a very simple and classic dish. The Pork Chop was also well loved amongst the table and many people wished they got it after trying a bite! For dessert, you absolutely have to get the Toffee Cake - it was everyone's favorite dessert. Super soft, warm, and comforting, plus that vanilla ice cream just took it to another level. We also enjoyed the Chocolate Mousse, and the free birthday dessert they kindly brought out for us. Overall, the restaurant is fun and lively, with an eclectic feel in the mismatched dining sets and decor. I really loved how it felt. It's definitely a nicer spot for a date or celebration, but worth it!

Now to the review: I loved that you could see part of the kitchen from the dining area. It's very open with a central bar and didn't feel crowded or congested even though it was busy. I walked in on a Saturday night with plenty of seating at the bar. I wish I could recall the bartenders name who served me because he was awesome. Arancini 9/10 - these were actually my favorite part of dinner. Crispy, great flavor and would get these again Crispy Pork Belly - 6/10 the pork itself didn't seem seasoned and slightly tough. The sauce was spicy which I wasn't expecting. Margarita Pizza 7/10 - great taste but the crust was super floppy. I prefer a much crispier crust Burger 7.5/10 - it was good but I'm not sure I would get again. Charred Brussel Sprouts 7/10 - charred nicely but seemed basically plain. They definitely needed the sauce in the bottom Basque Cheesecake 8/10 - first time trying basque cheesecake and maybe the burnt flavor isn't for me so giving it a 8 because otherwise I thought it was good. Sticky toffee cake 8.5/10 - great taste but wanted the texture to be better. It sort of felt like a dry sponge and would have preferred a more dense cake personally I heard a lot of hype about this place so I had high expectations going. I'll admit, I was a little let down with my experience. There was a ton of things I wanted to try but of the things I selected, I'm not sure I'd go back to chance trying the others. Simply my preference and each their own. It is a great vibe with great staff and I did like the tastes of a few things. It's good, not great. Being about to take a scenic walk after dinner is nice too. Fair warning, parking was insane. I paid $20 to park in a grass lot due to a car show / event going on down there. I recommend this place at least once. I had higher hopes and I'll chalk it up to an off night which is why it's a 4 and not a 5 in my book.

My first experience was probably a year and a half ago, it wasn't terribly busy, just a happy hour timeframe, had a cocktail or 2 and some apps, shared. I wasn't terribly impressed, it seemed fine, although pretty pricey. But did enjoy the ambiance, it was slightly elevated. I thought I'd come back and give it another shot. My next visit for lunch was nice, the food was good and service was adequate. Nothing special. My last visit, which was just a couple weeks ago. We were seated at a strange table with the end of the table sharing some odd booth-like chairs that didn't seem to be a part of the same group. But we were. The music was ridiculously loud and we were unable to hear one another. Just speaking to the person directly next to me and across from me was all I could speak to and we all had to yell over the music. It seemed to get louder at some point, even, which was ridiculous. I ordered a mocktail. It was pretty good. I ordered a steak - requested "medium ++, not medium well, but above medium". I received a medium RARE steak, at best. They had to put it back on the grill to make it basically medium well. At $62 for an a la carte steak - and this is not a steakhouse - this is unacceptable. At least they remade the separate side I ordered so it would be hot with the re-cooked steak. The service was fine, it wasn't exceptional, the ambiance was still the same - yet this last time was an attempt to appear trendy with the 30-somethings. Well overpriced, the food isn't spectacular even to justify the price, although the presentation was lovely. Too loud (yeah, call me old)... But when you want to talk with your friends, this is not the place. I learned after the fact that the upstairs which has another bar and also a decent amount of dining space, has a DJ spinning beats which is fed through the sound system downstairs, the music downstairs was louder than upstairs. That's just weird. Apparently just not my scene.

The decor is sophisticated without feeling pretentious, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The service was polished, attentive, and well-paced, allowing us to enjoy the evening without feeling rushed. It's lively- too loud for a first date. The highlight of the meal was the tableside chicken Parmesan, which we tried with both vodka sauce and traditional marinara. Both preparations were excellent, and the tableside presentation was a nice touch. It's refreshing to see a restaurant put this much effort into both the food and the dining experience. The only minor criticism was the lasagna, which was slightly oversalted. A little more restraint with the seasoning would have made it a much better dish. As someone who appreciates good Italian cooking, I particularly enjoyed the attention to presentation and the opportunity to experience two different preparations of a classic dish. Olivia's gets a lot of things right. Beautiful surroundings, professional service, and well-executed food made for a memorable evening. Definitely a restaurant I would return to. Lots of gf options

Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection and the cocktails were unique and dreamy. And all in an easy breezy space that feels like spring. Oh! I love happy surprises! It's a creative and intriguing menu. We ordered the chips and pimento as a starter (yum! And a huge portion!). One friend had the steak and egg sandwich. Another, had the quiche. I ordered the grilled cheese with bacon and jalapeños. It was rich and gooey with the best-cooked bacon I've ever had. I was giddy. And, a moment for the French fries, please. Wow, they were good!! That perfect balance of crispy/soft... good batter... perfectly seasoned. All this for $16. Yes! Delighted!! Everyone enjoyed their food. The drink menu is inspired... especially the cocktails. I had two bright and zingy drinks: the "selfies in Tulum" (gorgeous purple color and a floral/herbal flavor profile-so fresh-nothing syrupy or sweet)... and the Coral Bay (gin and cucumber-another bright and super refreshing blend). All of this hit the spot. And there are so many enticing blends on the menu left to try. Yes! Delighted. Our server was so friendly, engaging and cheerful. She made great suggestions and took such good care of us. She was a joy. There's a whimsical feel to this place--like everyday is the weekend-with lots of big windows. The cauliflower was perfectly grilled and had just the right amount of salty funk from the blue cheese. The Iberico skewer literally fell apart in my mouth. It was so well seasoned, and the mole sauce? I could've licked it right off the plate. But I didn't. Unfortunately, we were in public. The gnocchi?! We were seated at a super small table so it made for an uncomfortable situation with so little real estate available. Also the place looks like it's converted from a garage or something with metal walls and roll up doors that made the sound bounce around. The service was nice. We were well taken care of but they seemed to be spread thin because getting refills and getting our check took a bit longer than expected. One ssue was that the menu was very different from what was online via Google. I should have gone to their website I guess, but several items were not available and the filet I was so excited for had a very different set of items. No Brie au gratin potatoes or braised rainbow chard, citrus gremolata and a fig chutney. Now, let me say that my filet was delicious. I loved the sauce and the asparagus was good but for me, the potatoes were super underwhelming. A nice sauce or something would have made them better. They just tasted bland, were really dry and lacked any flavor. My wife expected the lamb or pork chops, they were both not on the menu. She got fish and chips which she really enjoyed, so it was a win. The Asian wings were our appetizer and were delightful too. Now the only real negative for us was the noise. We got there at 5:30 and it was fine. But as more people came in, the sound bounced around so bad that it became almost unbearable for me. I wanted to go so bad because people laughing and talking made my head hurt. Would I go back? Probably not. I didn't enjoy how loud it was. The food was very good though, so perhaps takeout would be more my speed. We had a nice meal and my leftovers were delicious later that evening.
