Bad Monkey is the best place to watch football in Ybor city. They get up to 4 or 5 NFL games. The service is extra good. They have regulars so they are definitely doing something right. I have passes Bad Monkey on the strip in Ybor every time I have been in Ybor. I finally stopped because I was having trouble finding a place to watch football. Bad Monke to the rescue. They keep a bay window open when it is warm which is almost always. Lots of screens to watch sports. They have plenty of craft beer, spirits, wine and specialty drinks. And the food here is decent. They have frito pie which is my absolute favorite bar food option. Finally, when I started looking around, the decor reminded me of a gentleman's club which made me wonder what goes on here at night. We just stopped in for a few drinks and to listen to the two-man musical group. The drinks are strong, cold and very reasonably priced. We were in the bar area outside, and it is quite loud (if you don't mind that, then you're good to go). It is a fun place. I would have liked to have eaten there, but we had just come from dinner elsewhere. All of the plates of food going by me to the other customers looked terrific. And, they have nightly food/drink specials that interested me. The only knock, was the staff. I have never seen such a collective of people with the inability to smile or be friendly. All across the board. We sat at the bar and the bartender served us, but didn't speak to us. He pointed at us, we ordered, he concocted and delivered. Straight business deal. No wasted words. The other bartender had an uncanny knack of avoiding eye contact with everyone. The host, servers in the area, all the same. Quite remarkable actually. Great Military themed Sports Bar. Staff is fast and friendly. We visited on a Sunday and were able to watch several NFL games. Fun interaction with other patrons, laughing and sharing stories. This dog friendly location is a must see! A good time was had by all. read more

This is a dive bar. This is a pretty nice dive bar though. It's a military themed bar that's owned by a veteran and sort of caters to veterans. It's a bar for everybody but you'll quickly see the military theme to the venue. That is pretty neat and all but that doesn't necessarily mean there's military discounts for their stuff. But if you're a veteran, or active duty you can feel right at home. The drinks are good and reasonably priced. The service is good and you can smoke inside and in their back patio. There's a pool table upstairs that you can use quarters to play as well. It's in the heart of the Ybor calamity and worth checking out. read more

The "sports bar" title is dubious--at 1 PM this Sunday, we went up to Ybor with intention of staying for my NFL teams' game.. Asked bartender( male) if he would put that particular game one of the TV's. He told us no, he could not, as they only have basic cable, and that game was not on those channels. ( we had been here a few weeks earlier for Pre-Season games, and the girl bartender that day put our game on..scrolled thru multiple channels which looked to be sports-package-ey. Your description of the Bad Monkey bar states "NFL Sunday Sports Ticket"...I assumed that was a Direct TV/ multi channel . Also, the bar was not busy in any way...maybe a dozen people. Bad Monkey was a fun location with true diversity. Many different types of locals and travelers of various ages enjoying a good draft beer or mixed up cocktail. The atmosphere had a miltary/airforce type of look and feel, helicopter hanging from ceiling to Ammunition style draft pours/decor. Plenty of games like darts, billards and Jenga to help you spend the time while listening to live DJ playing 80's to current (2017) songs. Not going to lie it was great to hear some of those fun 90s hits while sipping on my Jack Honey, while friends downed local pale ale drafts of Jai Alai. Pricing was fair and good time was had by all. This is another fun place to go in Ybor. I've been here before, but the latest time was as part of a charity pub crawl. In addition to the monkey/ape theme there is also a lot of military decor. On the pub crawl, our drink was some mango mixture that I don't really think had any rum in but who knows. I did not buy any drinks here on this occasion, but in the past, I either got a 7&7 or some type of beer on tap. Those are my go to drinks when I go out to bars/clubs. A smorgasbord for everything from Alphas to sensitive cafe types, themed around love of country, which is colorblind and basic self-preservation, for those of you just joining. Pours are generous. Deserves 3.5. Happy hour is 2 for 1 wells. Front wall opens wide to the street for plenty of fresh air, and the drinks are reasonably strong. Pretty clean, lots of TVs, and lots of people watching, such as the guy who just fell flat on his a$$ tripping over the happy hour sign. Plus, you get the 10% off with a yelp check in, so extra bonus there. Would have been nice had I seen that before I paid. Oh well. Save for later. Happy Friday happy hour yelpers! Steady business, friendly and attractive/attentive staff, different sports bar games to play, televisions to watch sporting events and a great selection. Typical smoky bar with cheap drinks. Even though this bar can get smoky and they have an ashtray on every table so you can't claim you didn't know, the indoor outdoor flow means the air circulation is good enough that you don't leave smelling like an ashtray. It might also help that we were there at about 2 p.m. on a Sunday, so the place was relatively empty. In addition to drinks, they sell cigars for $7, so my friend bought one and we sat at a table close to the outside area so she could puff away. They had a drink deal for $5 Stoli. Good enough for me, so I grabbed a vodka soda. My friend got a bloody mary and said it was pretty tasty. They have darts and giant jenga. You can easily pass a couple hours smoking cigars, playing a game, and drinking cheap drinks. That sounds like a very enjoyable day to me. read more
