We did the "let us cook for you" and "let us pour for you" which is where the kitchen makes off menu options for four courses and pairs with wines to test out! We throughly enjoyed every dish and the explanations behind them. The wine pairings were also perfect and had a great pour for each. I also was able to try items I never would have ordered. Expanding my pallet is always a fun time and they did a fabulous job. The restaurant itself was very clean, and had a great vibe to it! **Tampa Bay's New Espresso Martini Champion!!** Wow, I came here once for a yelp event like a year ago, and never once returned. I walk past here on the time on my way to Yard House and thought I'd finally stop in again and try some cocktails and food. Whoops, jokes on me for waiting this long to come back. The Edition Hotel next door used to have the best espresso martinis, but they've since changed their ingredients and in general the cocktails over there have tanked. Boulon still makes great cocktails, but hello we have a new challenger at Ash. I loved the espresso martini here. Flavor, espresso, cocoa powder all spot on. Plus it's only $17. A lot cheaper than most of the other bars around here. I also had a $19 Let me be clear. For whatever reason, only Santos Kitchen down the street knows how to make a fabulous mezcal drink. I also had a $25 Tonnarelli. OMG! When pesto is done right it's always my favorite sauce for pasta. This dish was freaking phenomenal. I might go back tomorrow and have another one. We had such a fantastic dining experience at Ash last night that I felt compelled to leave a review. From start to finish, everything was exceptional and our server Jill absolutely made the evening. Jill spent so much time with us, thoughtfully walking us through the menu and helping us choose dishes based on what we actually like. She explained that the servers "tag team" tables at Ash; if one server is tied up at a table, another jumps in to check on guests so no one feels forgotten. Such a smart system, and you could really feel the level of hospitality. Jill's recommendations were spot on. We are not big bread people and honestly don't even usually like focaccia, but she insisted we order the focaccia with whipped ricotta and herb oil. I'm still thinking about it. Calling it focaccia almost feels inaccurate; it was unlike any bread I've ever had. More like a piece of heaven. We started with the hamachi, which had the perfect amount of spice -flavorful and fresh without being overpowering. For dinner, we ordered the chicken cutlets and two pasta dishes: the strozzapreti with wagyu beef cheek and hazelnuts, and the mafalde with black truffle, miso, and cacio e pepe. Both pastas were incredible: rich in flavor but still delicate and not overly heavy or filling. Just perfect. We also tried the "perfect skinny margarita," and the name fits: not too sweet, not too tart, just really balanced and delicious. And because we are serious dessert people, we couldn't leave without trying dessert. The marzipan sundae and namelaka absolutely delivered. We don't indulge often, but this meal was 100% worth the calories. If you haven't booked Ash yet, highly recommend. Ash I found by accident as I was looking for speakeasies by the Pearl, and the one I searched had a door charge on Saturdays. Fortunately, I saw that Ash served cocktails an was around the corner next to the Edition Tampa. So we took a gander over and enjoyed some lovely craft cocktails. The dining room and bar has a sleek vibe with white and pink flourishes and neon eliminating over the bar shelving. Vintage-like booths in the middle of the room help partition the bar area from the dining area. You can order food at the bar if you like. We had come for the cocktails since we had already eaten. And the cocktails were grand. The mixologists were on point with the signatures on the list and what I also ordered off the menu. The Tropical Negroni certainly radiated a lot of that description with rum being the primary spirit instead of gin, with pineapple, vanilla, and passion fruit notes. The Paper Plane was done wicked well, with a lovely fruitiness and creaminess to it. We will return to have dinner and more of the cocktails on our next trip to Tampa. read more

Had a great meal here, walking in early. The restaurant has great high ceilings with a lot of light (almost too much as there was some glare during sunset), and is casually upscale. The service was very friendly and we were recommended that we were ordering too much but we went with it anyway (and they were right). All the dishes were good, especially the prawns. First time here and absolutely loved sitting at the bar. Really great decor and the bartenders were amazing. The food was so creatively presented and so delicious. We got here in time for happy hour, which was nice so decided to have a dozen PEI oysters. I would eat another dozen if I could and that's how good it was. It's not traditional in that. They already add a bit of the mignonette to the oysters. The presentation on the pebbles was just beautiful. Focaccia bread was huge and just perfect amount of salt and the ricotta was scrumptious. Then we shared the chicken cutlet and it was very large so really good dish to share or have leftovers. So flavorful with the capers and just so tender and not overly breaded. My friends and I had the opportunity to sit at the chef's table at Ash this past Saturday, and it was genuinely one of the most exceptional dining experiences I've ever had. I recently moved to Tampa and had friends visiting from out of town. I'm always looking for places that truly showcase the city, and after this experience, Ash will be at the very top of my itinerary anytime I have visitors in the future. Chef Seth was incredible. He was clearly knowledgeable about every dish he served and took the time to explain each course with genuine passion and enthusiasm. Beyond that, he went above and beyond to make sure our group was having an amazing experience from start to finish. You can tell he truly cares about both the food and the people sitting at his table. The service was equally outstanding. Brynn, our hostess, was incredibly welcoming and set the tone for the entire evening from the moment we walked in. Our server was attentive, personable, and made sure every detail of our experience was perfect. There was also a gentleman who helped us select our wine, and his recommendations were spot on. Every member of the team seemed genuinely invested in making sure we had a great time. Even when our table stayed later than we probably should have , everyone remained kind, accommodating, and never made us feel rushed. And then there's the food. I started with the Lavender Spritz, which was absolutely phenomenal. The caviar bumps were to die for. The MKT crudo was unbelievably fresh, packed with flavor, and one of the best crudos I've had in a long time. The crispy artichokes are an absolute must-order for anyone visiting. The mafalde and lumache were equally insane--perfectly executed and bursting with flavor. And don't even get me started on the chicken cutlet. It was hands-down one of the best dishes of the night and has officially been added to my list of staples whenever I return. The polenta cake tasted like home--comforting, rich, and perfectly balanced. And the sundae? It will absolutely knock your socks off. Somehow, after an already incredible meal, it managed to be one of the highlights of the evening. I've only lived in Tampa for a few months, but Ash has completely blown every other restaurant I've tried out of the water. Sooo Ash was the perfect choice for my birthday dinner! The restaurant is absolutely adorable with its pink color scheme, which gives it such a great date-night vibe. Our waiter (I sadly forgot his name ) was wonderful and helped us navigate the menu, which is on the smaller side but clearly means everything is thoughtfully and carefully crafted. I decided to switch things up with bourbon while my wife went with the traditional vodka. Both drinks were perfectly balanced and honestly set the tone for what turned out to be an exceptional evening. The crispy artichokes had me questioning why I don't eat more vegetables. Perfectly crunchy outside, tender inside - they've basically solved the artichoke puzzle. The beef tartare was simple and fresh. Our waiter was an expert on every single one of the dishes we asked about and gave great recommendations. I had the focaccia and the garlic prawn scampi. Yet another excellent restaurant in the Water Street area! Ash is an intimate space, perfect for small gatherings. Service is very good, with very friendly servers that give some great suggestions. The food is good as well. Love the plating and the creativity. The standout item for me might have to be the Anchovy Avocado Toast. Love the crispy bread, and the addition of the anchovy is so unexpected. But it brings an additional layer of savory and umami that a normal avocado toast will not have, all while not being fishy or off-putting. Lots of pros for this restaurant for sure. We were pleasantly surprised to see a sighting of Chef Alvarez from Rooster. Beautifully decorated, and nice lighting from all the windows. The beef tartare was probably one of the best I've had, and the drinks were unique and amazing. I think the only real complaints I had, was that the sauce on the fresh oysters was too lemongrass forward which made it bitter, and the servers literally came over five times asking to clear our plates when it was obvious we were still enjoying our focaccia bread and oil. Maybe didn't catch it on the menu? Otherwise, everything was not bad at all just kind of pricy for being tapas. I would have liked the bruschetta (pictured) to be cut into 4 pieces for a more bite sized approach but the bread was perfect. We came to this restaurant for date night and had a good time. I like the soft decor with clean lines and it's very open even though the restaurant is small. The food is portioned with "small bites". I would say it's easy to spend a lot here because the portions are small, however the large plates are satisfying (for example the market fish). We did have a few small plates to start. I have Celiac Disease so I can not have gluten and they were able to work around that on a few menu items which was much appreciated. My husband has no food restrictions so he had the fried rabbit and it is the most popular menu item and it was just that, as he said, amazing. We also had the oysters which we both felt were overpowered by the kumquat and melon, but overall a nice oyester. You just couldn't really appreciate the oyster much due to the sauce overriding the flavor. The salad was also very different and I would say if you don't like it at first give it a chance. The ingredients here are very fresh and local and you can tell with every bite. Caviar bumps with sparkling wine or Aquavit are a staple at the sister restaurant Rooster and I am so glad they have it here! It is one of my favorite things to order to be honest. The entrée portions were interesting in a great way. If you can have the fish, the market fish is handsdown a winner. We had a great time and I would recommend Ash for a date night. What drew my friends and me here was the unique menu offered. We did family-style sharing with all of the dishes ordered so we could try a little of everything. We ordered quite the variety and some items were a hit, others were not. The beef tartare and the fried rabbit were definitely my favorite! And the wagyu hanger steak was quite delicious. The pork chop arrived to us undercooked (lots of pink in the middle) and we had to send it back to the kitchen unfortunately. The pasta tasted average and especially with the portions, I could've done without them. The restaurant has a beautiful interior, I enjoyed sitting by the tree very much. The service was great, and the ambiance is amazing. Super cool, classy, retro vibe. My wife and I split the crispy fried rabbit appetizer, which was amazing and quite tender. Not gamey at all. I had the tonnarelli pasta with pistachio pesto and goat cheese, and my wife had Natalee with truffle and miso. Absolutely fantastic! Last, I had the citrus tart (think similar to a key lime pie), and my wife had the chocolate cake. Both were great, and the chocolate cake was surprisingly light instead of dense and heavy.
