Great little area in the hotel for lunch
Marco N.

Great little breakfast spot downstairs behind the bar area on Lobby floor. per Dec 18, 2024. Breakfast is M-F 7-11am, Sat/Sun 7-11:30am. Perhaps a tad expensive, but in a nice hotel and overlooking the bay. Service has been great multiple times and food is very consistent. Favorite has been the dirty Chai, Chai Latte with espresso shot :-)

This restaurant is really pretty and if you have the opportunity to sit outside on the patio, I recommend it, because it's serene and the layout is beautiful. Service was a little lacking, probably because we were outside (the only table outside) as most guests opt to sit indoors, but the bartender who was working inside was very nice and helpful. We went to the bar to get our own drinks, but our food was promptly delivered to us outside. We had the burger which came with well seasoned fries and I enjoyed the wanton tuna appetizer which was delicious. I can imagine how beautiful this location is on a balmy evening during the Summer!

My friends and I stumbled upon Julian Restaurant at the Current Hotel after not getting a spot at a different restaurant, and we were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was! I ordered the signature dish, which was the Miso Sake Glazed Chilean Seabass. This dish packed so much flavor! The fish was cooked to perfection, and the mushroom rice paired with it so well. Everything was delicious, including the bread they serve before the meal! The service was a little bit slow but they were pretty busy that night (Saturday). Our waiter was very nice to us. Also, we got our checks in cigar boxes, which looked really cool!

Came for date night. Was great from Reserved on open door. From the start was a little concerned since found that the restaurant was in the hotel and the picture on open door compared to what you get when you walk in are definitely different but do not let that deceive you: You get valet parking that is free with a validated stamp from the restaurant. It looks like a small hotel restaurant but the food is so much more than that. The Desire martini was excellent. The bar tender was great as well. He was very attentive. In the restaurant the server was great. We got the 16oz New York strip. Could cut it with a butter knife. Also got the fried artichokes. These were a little greasy but still not too bad. For the area the prices are not To bad. I would definitely come again and next time possibly stay at the hotel.

Side of fries ($6) DRENCHED in pepper

Located on the first floor of the Current hotel. Very small menu options, maybe check that out before you go. I was staying in the hotel and just went down to order some take out. The Brussels sprouts were amazing! Loved them. As for the french fries they were horrible. Ordered just a side of fries and they were drenched in pepper. Do not recommend. If i wasnt in the hotel I wouldn't dine here. Nothing special.

I stayed at the Current Hotel for a business meeting and decided to try the restaurant. I received great service. The menu was okay - somewhat limited. I tried the lamp chops and was very happy with presentation, preparation, and taste!

We stayed at the Current hotel over the weekend, after we arrived and got settled in and enjoyed the view we had in our room we decided to grab a bite downstairs at Julian's. First of all the view is spectacular right in front of the pool as well as seeing the sunset what else could you ask for. We ordered two margaritas just because it's been a while since I've had one, very delicious not to strong. I recommend. For food we ordered the crab cake as well as the lobster ceviche tostadas. The crab cake was to die for omggg super delicious!! The lobster was fresh and the grilled pineapples were delicious the flavors went so well together. I will definitely come back!

Great spot for lunch w/ a view!

Great lunch spot. Delicious food & view! Service is very good. We go during weekdays, & it's always quiet & quick. This is one of the nicer locations that isn't touristy average food in this area. Price points are reasonable.

Yes, they actually put my grouper on top of that. Where did the chef go to school?

Giving two stars for the atmosphere, it's a lovely setting in the posh hotel we were staying at. The server was poorly trained, no idea what half the menu was. They were out of the two of the maybe 10 items on the menu. Those were the two items that were gluten free. The rest of the staff cackled and yacked so loudly it was sitting in a Waffle House. I ordered the Grouper, my favorite choice everywhere with some sort of side that would be gluten free. I received dry, extremely overcooked grouper dumped on a bed of French fries. Not only was that catastrophe shameful it came with only a drizzle of the sauce but with a side of ketchup. The poor grouper gave up his life to become an inedible brick that I cook only pick flakes from the bottom.

We ate here about 3 times during our stay at the current hotel in Tampa. The servers were excellent and attentive. The food was very slow to come out but tasty. I had the Tampa bowl during one of the visits and I was still hungry. I asked for bread and juice to fill myself up. This was on a Friday. For Sunday another person in our party ordered the same dish and her portion size was larger and she was full afterwards. We also went for dinner on a Saturday night and the table set up for us was beautiful. The entree options were limited but the food was very tasty so might as well keep it small if you can perfect the dishes. In short, order the Tampa bowl on the weekends only, and you can't go wrong with the limited but delish dinner options.

The current is a new autograph Marriott collection hotel that has some of the best views at Rocky point. It is nestled next door to rusty pelican and offers great food & a rooftop bar. The hotel itself is very sleek, modern and beautifully designed! There is a lobby bar, Julian restaurant and Rox rooftop bar. All of these areas have a glorious view of Tampa Bay. The pool area is beautiful with a private shore/beach area. As for Julian - it's a fairly small area of their lobby and open kitchen. I would classify it as a mix of Italian and Asian dishes with a dash of local ingredients! I am very happy that I visited here before it becomes the next big place in Tampa. Service was great and the food was executed perfectly. We started with the tempura fried zucchini blossoms stuffed with aged goat cheese over honey comb, citrus salad that cut through the creaminess of the cheese! The tempura was light and airy! Also we got the small version of the summer rock shrimp with summer corn, zucchini and charred gnocchi. Would recommend getting that as a whole entree which is a little more expensive and an option. For entrees I got the snapper over quinoa and bf got the salmon over coconut rice. Both were very good. To end the meal we got the lemon panna cotta with mint crumble, ginger crisp and cookies. Very light and refreshing. Overall, make sure you visit the bar and enjoy the sunset before dinner at Julian! This place is the perfect addition to the Tampa food scene.

My friend had the chicken al pastor tacos, which were incredible, and I ordered the chicken quesadilla. Hands down the best quesadilla I've ever had. The drinks were just as impressive. I asked for a cocktail I had seen mentioned in reviews but didn't see on the menu, and our server had it made perfectly without hesitation. My friend also had a custom drink made to her liking. The atmosphere really seals the deal. Sitting outside with a view of the water, sunset, and Tampa skyline was unreal. We were already talking about when we're going back before we even left. I 100% loved my time there. 10/10 recommendation!

The parking is probably the biggest con of this place, but overall definitely a nice place to have an adult meal. I wouldn't necessarily bring my children here as it's got an intimate feel to the place. We shared the salsa trio which was good. I ordered the Chicken Paillard which was also good. The decor is pretty, but again, you're here for the views.

Excellent all around! Food, service, view, drinks.....need I say more?…read more Birthday celebration for my wife. Showed up a bit early to have drinks at the bar. Excellent selection of liquors, great service and wonderful martinis. When our table was ready, got a seat near the window to see the bay, was excellent. Ordered an assortment of oysters to start. They offer oysters from across the country, so we tried some from all areas. Excellent overall, they even had little flags denoting the place of origin. (see pics) Entrees were awesome! My wife got the grilled Snapper, and I forgot to get a pic of my wife's dinner, but got one of my scallops. Some of the best scallops I have had. Brought my wife a dessert to top it all off. Parents night out was a great time at Oystercatchers. We started with the Single Tier Seafood Plateau and beyond the oysters, for me the Tuna Poke was the bomb!! This was a nice start to our experience. Then I did the St Augustine Clam Chowder and while it was good, it was a bad order on my part as it's a hearty soup. It was too much for me at this time of the year. Then we split the Seafood Mac and Cheese which was great and had some killer pieces of shrimp and spiny lobster in there. Now I won't go into details but we had an issue and the staff did an amazing job going above and beyond to resolve it. We weren't looking for them to go above and beyond but we appreciated it. We also had a nice view of the Bay during dinner which was nice. Comp valet is available which is a nice touch. We will come back in a few months to check out their brunch!

We started with drinks of course and I ended up getting the Lychee Lover Martini. My friends got the Bird of Paradise and the Tropic Thunder and honestly all of them were delicious. Different flavor profiles so it depends on what mood you're in. For food, I chose to do the Prix Fixe menu for $29 and went with the House Salad + Salmon Crispy Rice + Poke Bowl. The salad was phenomenal and the salmon crispy rice was perfectly cooked. Unfortunately the poke bowl wasn't that great. I ended up not finishing it. I tried my friend's dishes as well and her Pork Belly Cubano was good, but her Chili Lime Chicken was not -- the flavors were conflicting and didn't mesh well. We also ordered off the regular menu and really enjoyed the Fried Green Tomatoes and Tuna Crispy Rice. Overall, lunch wasn't bad. Definitely a great deal. I think when I come back again, I may stick to the regular menu or I may have to choose the Pork Belly Cuban.

I went on a Sunday and had the best experience. The ambiance was beautiful--everything was clean, the noise level was not loud at all, and I loved the lighting and overall atmosphere of the open-concept space. It felt comfortable, elevated, and easy to enjoy a full meal without feeling overwhelmed or rushed. Our server was training someone, but you couldn't even tell--it was so professional. One thing I noticed was how many people work there, and I really hope it stays that way. Each staff member had a specific role, and it made the entire service feel seamless. There was no rushing and no stress on the servers. You could tell they really enjoyed what they were doing. They also offer complimentary valet, and you can even Venmo a tip, which made arrival and departure super easy. At the end of our meal, someone even came to box up our food for us--we didn't have to do it ourselves. Very old school NY!!! Top-tier service. As for the food: the oysters we had were flavorful, and the garlic bread selection was soft and not overly heavy on the garlic. My friend ordered the scallops with risotto and crispy prosciutto, and I ordered the special chicken Parmesan with a side of spaghetti in a lemon sauce that they suggested. I was in the mood for a lemon-flavored pasta, and they absolutely delivered. Both plates were phenomenal. I wish they had a place like this in Orlando. I also wish the chicken parm would always be a special because that sauce was delicious. Growing up in Brooklyn, I've had some really good Italian food--and I would absolutely come back here. I'd give service five stars and food five stars. Thank you for a great meal--you did not disappoint.
