I was expecting an open air rooftop like I'm used to in Ohio. This was a closed space with a huge patio opening where you can sit outside (limited seating on the rooftop patio). You can also see the view from most seats in the closed area. This is a swanky bar and I appreciated my time here during my 4 night stay. It was so nice to leave the kids in the room at night for some adult time on the rooftop. Good service. My only complaint is that we took one bite of the oysters and didn't like them. They were room temp and were not on ice. They do a twist on the raw oysters, some dollop of whipped sauce, gross. We ended up not eating them and didn't bother complaining, we just ate it (pun intended). The raw oysters are a HARD pass. This place is a gem. P.S. Food/bev service staff didn't match the quality and star level of the hotel. Front desk staff were wonderful. Host/concierge was excellent. Food was great, but food service was really lacking. Vantage the "rooftop" bar had an aloof bartender and a cocktail waitress that could benefit from being trained how to "check in." Or, they are short-staffed in the kitchen and she didn't properly set the expectation that she was wearing multiple hats. It was a very slow evening, very few people dining, and she took order, disappeared, delivered it a while, and disappeared again. Would have ordered more food if she (or anyone) came back. Had even asked about other dishes and indicated we would order more from the start. There seemed to be a snooty factor among restaurant front of house staff. Are they told to act that way, or are they miserable, or is this a trickle down attitude from mgmt that they are emulating - I had to wonder. And as one of my friends commented, this isn't a "real rooftop" bar. It's a view from one of four sides. Still nice, but not quite the same. Someone started smoking a cigarette and that was the last straw. Tried downstairs restaurant and the bartender was gruff and seemed unhappy to be there and slow to serve people even from directly behind the bar when they were not even remotely busy. I worked in F&B and then in Hospitality Mgmt for years and have seen bad to okay to good to great to exceptional. This hotel has lovely atmosphere and decor, but staff provided less than ideal restaurant/bar experiences. I tend to get better service at chain, low budget, high volume restaurants than at this hotel. Go figure. read more

Located on the rooftop of a tribute portfolio hotel. While still in their soft opening (just opened this week), this bar is sure to be a hit in this area. The interior of the bar is beautifully decorated and has the aroma of being new. The countertop is unique and has soft lighting from underneath. Staff is super polite and friendly. The story of how this bar and hotel came to life is a great one. So much so that I couldn't possibly do it justice telling it on here, so if you do visit be sure to ask how it came to be. The bar does have a very small offering of snacks, five to be exact. I did try two of them, the smoked wings and the pretzel bites. They were just ok. Wings were a bit too chewy for my liking although but they did have a great smoke flavor. Pretzel bites were also just ok. I feel like they can definitely do much better on the snack offerings. Decent selection of bourbons and whiskeys, wines, and cocktails. Looking forward to coming back here soon. read more

We stumbled upon K Hotel and their restaurants and decided to check it out. We had a great time here with amazing drinks and delicious appetizers. There is a view of the pool, the lake and the water in the distance. Modern music is definitely pumping on a Friday night giving this place a cool vibe. Tables and seats are limited so be sure to snag one early. It's on the small side which lends to an intimate feeling. There are a few sofas for lounging. I was going to order the raspberry daiquiri but the waiter suggested the Karol Bliss instead. Wow! Such a great recommendation! Elderflower, Wheatley vodka, lime juice and fresh raspberries. For shareables we ordered jumbo shrimp cocktail, Caesar salad and Asian wings. Everything was delicious but my favorite was the wings. Perfectly cooked, crispy edges and coated with a fabulous sticky Asian sesame sauce. Bit of trivia: the neon at the entrance is the opening line Karol's husband used when they first met! This location should have been scored a 5 star plus however the manager Dimitri ruined our dinner. My daughter and I went for a girls weekend and opened a bottle of wine in our room. We ventured out to explore the pool area ( underwhelming) and then went up to the roof top bar. To our surprise it was really pretty with a great balcony and view. We seated ourselves and after 15 minutes flagged over a waitress to order some apps. She asked if we wanted to order drinks and we were forthright in saying no we have our own wine that we brought. She said no problem and left to place our order. Shortly after, our apps arrived and they were fantastic. We ordered the shrimp cocktail and the charcuterie board. Highly recommend!! My daughter ran out of wine and decided to run back to our room, grabthe remaining bottle and bring it back to finish off. We initially were going out for dinner but because we enjoyed this experience so much we decided to stay and were intending on ordering dinner. She came back and a few minutes later Dimitri showed up at our table and abruptly asked how we were enjoying the wine. We said it was fine we had brought it from home. He immediately said oh we we will be charging you a 30.00 corkage fee. I did respond by asking if he corked it for me ? He went on to explain no but there's a mandatory 30.00 fee. Not to cause a scene I replied no problem. We were pissed that no one said there was an issue brining in a glass of wine while staying at the property until after we had eaten half our meal. If this was an issue we should have been told prior to ordering our food. We would have finished our wine in our room and went back snd ordered another one there. We simply stumbled upon the roof top bar and decided to stay. It's not like we were trying to be cheap and bring our own wine. The room was 300 a night. This guy was soooo rude and passive aggressive that he totally ruined our evening. I never get upset over things and I'm very easy going but this was not the service or treatment I expected. I have been wanting to try this bar since it opened a little while ago. I'm glad I finally made it. Located on the top floor of the Karol Hotel, the small bar is super quaint. You have the opportunity to sit indoors on comfy couches, at the rectangular bar or outdoors. What I liked best about the atmosphere is that the noise levels are fairly low, so you can have conversations with those around you. There's also TVs broadcasting sports for those people wanting to enjoy a drink as they're watching games. Although it has a full service bar, some of their specialty cocktails are really good. I enjoyed a tangy, not too sweet cucumber mule. I also enjoyed the lavender lemonade, which was sweet but not too lavendery. Great place, I'll be back. read more

This is a really nice rooftop bar. It's laid out differently than some of the other ones in the bay area like Edge, Bulla, or Canopy in that it's mostly covered. Its also not huge like M. Bird. The benefit is that there's air-conditioning. It's also on the 12th floor so you get a good view of the surrounding area. I came here on an afternoon after work. John made an amazing smoked old fashioned and recommended their new york strip. It was cooked to medium rare and had a great peppered crust. Their PEI muscles are probably the best I've had. Only thing is they should have more bread with it, but you can ask for more and it's not really an issue. All in all, highly recommended. read more

My husband and I were very impressed with this unique absolutely breathtaking Rooftop Bar! The view was nothing less than spectacular! This is truly a hidden Jewel! The manager with the beard was very very rude. He was very cocky and arrogant, my friend ordered a charcuterie board which never came. After 30 minutes he asked about it and the order was never placed. Luckily there was a Greek place downstairs and he picked up some food. Right when he got back to the bar and started eating it, he was reprimanded not to eat it. The rude beard manager dictator guy called the cops and escorted my friend out after he kept eating his food. He ate food from somewhere else because he didn't get his order. Party of 16 got kicked out. Place has potential, good drinks but tainted by the aggressive manager and staff... what a shame.... read more

We discovered this marvelous bar via the bartenders at Bascom's....same chef!!!! The Vantage Rooftop Bar is exactly that....a rooftop bar at the Karol Hotel on Ulmerton Road. Stanley and the girls do a great job of mixing fantastic cocktails and making sure everyone is satisfied. The view of Tampa and surrounds is magnificent plus the tastefully decorated area makes one totally relax. Catch up on the latest sports in Tampa on one of the numerous monitors scattered throughout the lounge area. Speaking of lounge, there are several lovely covey corners that allow for bridal showers, after work happy hours and whatever is required. There is one complaint.....lack of variety in foods...not requesting a 3 course dinner, but a wider variety of cold sandwiches, peanuts popcorn, whatever to fill the empty/hungry corners so as not to get sloppy drunk!!!!!! The food is delivered via Stefan, a delightful young man who obviously enjoys his job and meeting people. He has a smile that lights up the room and a delightful sense of humor that erases all signs of stress! This is such a great place to unwind, I sincerely hope that they realize the potential of Vantage becoming a true gem!!!!! Don't fail us, management!!!!! read more

The rooftop bar was physically wonderful. However, the two female bartenders were a bit antisocial and lacking. We lasted for one drink and then headed down to the ground level bar. Jasmine was wonderful, very attentive and personable. Needless to say, we didn't go back up to the rooftop. If they want to improve the Rooftop Bar, take Easton and put him behind the bar. My friend and I were excited to go to vantage rooftop bar to have something to eat and watch the sunset. As we walked in, we got stares from the employees and no one greeted us. So we sat down, waited 10 minutes, no one had still greeted us. It was just awkward and upsetting. We felt disrespected and overlooked. read more
