You can't beat these views. Decided to sit on back porch the weather was perfect. My friend ordered the fish of the day it was yellow tail snapper topped with trout roe with a side of broccolini. She liked her meal. She also got a Bloody Mary (she was disappointed they didn't have a shrimp or bacon topping option) the waitress that is only available on Sundays. I loved my grouper sandwich and garlic fries. The ettoufee mayo is excellent I recommend asking for extra to dip the fries into.

We came here during a staycation and were genuinely surprised by how much we loved it. Our server was great, really personable and made the whole experience feel easy and enjoyable. The broiled oysters with black garlic were incredible, and we also loved the crab cake appetizer. The fried snapper completely stole the show for me, I literally can't stop talking about it. My boyfriend loved his dish just as much, which says a lot. The views overlooking the water made everything even better and gave the whole night that perfect relaxed but elevated vibe.

I was down in Tampa for a conference and pleasantly surprised to discover that our hotel, the Grand Hyatt, houses a lovely seafood restaurant called Oystercatchers. At night it has a cozy, intimate vibe yet still very open with bright walls and a small bar, but during the day you can sit by the windows and enjoy a really nice view of the water. Booking was easy through SevenRooms, and a big plus: no reservation fees. I was able to change my reservation multiple times without any hassle, which is always appreciated when travel schedules are doing their own chaotic thing. Once we arrived, we were seated promptly, and the service was excellent. Our server was genuinely helpful, friendly, and honestly the highlight of the entire experience. The menu is fairly broad but clearly seafood-forward, though there are meat and vegetarian options if seafood isn't your thing. We ordered the seafood plateau, listed at $65, which included five fresh oysters, fish dip, about three jumbo shrimp, and sliced carrots and cucumbers. It's definitely a steep price, but not wildly out of line with other seafood spots. We added three extra oysters at $4 each, and overall it was quite filling, especially the fish dip, which came with crackers and was very satisfying. For salads, we got a Caesar and asked to split it into two plates, which I thought was a really nice touch. That said, the portion size was on the smaller side for the price. The lettuce was also not cut up, which is always a pet peeve of mine because I don't always want to cut up my own salad. The oyster cesear dressing, however, was excellent. We also got the bread (milk bread), which was incredible. Soft, warm, slightly sweet, paired with a special creamy butter. Honestly my favorite part of the meal. Bread is everything. Also, it was the first thing I ate all day, so it truly hit on a spiritual level. For entrées, we both went with fresh grilled fish. My significant other got the snapper, and I ordered the black grouper. Both were around $40-$45 and came on a bed of succotash with a side of broccolini, which was very well done. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. I've had better grilled snappers, but this very good. By the time dessert rolled around, we shared a Key lime pie. It was nicely tart and refreshing, a good palate cleanser, though I was definitely quite full by then. They also have a decent cocktail menu. Nothing groundbreaking, but solid. Wine selection was good as well, with enough variety to keep most people happy. One thing worth noting: when the bill came, we noticed we were charged $70 for the seafood platter, even though the menu listed it as $65. We asked about it, and the manager handled it well, explaining that the price had recently changed and that he would update both the online and in-house menus. No hard feelings at all, but it's a good reminder to always check your bill before leaving any restaurant. Overall, a very enjoyable meal with great service, beautiful views, and solid seafood. A bit pricey, yes, but that's kind of the territory these days. I'd definitely return, especially if I'm staying at the hotel again

Lunch Seafood Salad

Came there for lunch and chose A Shrimp with Orzo entree and my lunch friend a Grand Seafood Salad. The Salad was a sight to behold, as it was a huge platter that appeared big enough for 4 people. Huge Romaine lettuce sections nicely dressed and covered with Octopus, Crab chunks, huge Shrimp, Hearts of Palm, Red Onions, and Green olives, so very delicious. The Shrimp and Orzo was good as well. The shrimp was cut in bite size pieces, cooked properly, land the Orzo was savory. I wasn't able to eat but half. Both were boxed up to go for another meal at home.

Brunch Buffet Menu

Oystercatchers brought back a brunch buffet this Labor Day weekend, and as someone who loves a good buffet, and is a sucker for seafood, it felt like the perfect time to check it out. The buffet offers a wide variety of options. The raw seafood station is the star of the show, with oysters, shrimp, tuna, and fish dip, all fresh and flavorful. The shrimp, in particular, stood out: large, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. There's also an excellent salad and charcuterie area, along with a breakfast section where you can build bagels and other morning favorites like lox or toast (I skipped that part). I did, however, go all in on the hot breakfast items. The signature lobster and crab omelet was phenomenal, and even the scrambled eggs from the buffet were surprisingly some of the best I've had. The breakfast potatoes and shrimp and grits were also highlights. They served a very tasty prime rib, accompanied by some incredible mashed potatoes. There was a pasta station as well, which I didn't try only because I was already too full, but it looked great. For dessert, they had a variety of pastries, cookies, and banana pudding. Everything I tried was good, but I do think the dessert station could be elevated a bit, maybe with a signature item or something like an ice cream option. The location is unbeatable, right on the bay. We lucked out and got a window-side table with beautiful water views, which made the experience even better. Service was excellent throughout. Everyone was super friendly and attentive. While the buffet is a bit pricier than others in the area, it's reflective of the quality and setting. I definitely felt it was worth the price and am already looking forward to going back.

Overall pretty good. The food was tasty. I like the grouper bites. The wedge salad was amazing. The Cuban was good also. The grilled oysters were ok. Kind of greasy. Our server was sweet and the restaurant is huge and beautiful. Though i had a good experience there was nothing that was memorable. Pretty average and good place for lunch.

We were staying at the Grand Hyatt, so this was a logical choice. If you're not at the hotel, it feels a bit off tge beaten path, but it's honestly worth the effort. Some nice views, outstanding service, and some really great food. We tried a number of dishes and the onlt miss was the Calamari which was just way too salty. Nice cocktail and wine menu. Recommended!

Decent dinner spot! Ended up here for a company dinner and thoroughly enjoyed myself. All the appetizers were interesting, of them the grouper sliders were my favorite. The staff were very nice and attentive. It was also neat to be able to see the shucking station from my table. I'd like to come back and try the brunch and some of the seasonal oysters

Deviled Egg Trio and Oysters (Sweet Petites)

First time dining at Oystercatchers and will definitely be coming back soon - I had no idea they've been around since the 80s!! Upon entering we were greeted right away and provided with several options of where to sit. We had a lovely chat with the manager which checked back with our table several times to ensure we were having a great time. Jack was a phenomenal server, he took great care of us and provided answers to every question we had about the place and menu. He even started us off with a Champagne toast on the house as we were celebrating a graduation, early birthday, and belated Mother's Day all at once (very busy group of women)! We of course ordered several rounds of oysters, the tuna poke, deviled egg trio, crab cake benedict, and the remoulade shrimp roll. Love that everything is made in house from scratch - all the way down to the hot sauce and crackers. (They need to sell these togo. I cant describe how buttery and amazing they were!) Extremely impressive service, ambiance and food. I look forward to returning for dinner, and also can't wait to check out their private dining space for special events!!

This restaurant is beautiful and has lovely views of the bay and sunset. We were staying at the Grand Hyatt Tampa for a wedding and decided to try this beautiful restaurant. I wish we had a better experience than we did. Do know if you want a seat by a window, you need to make reservations in advance. This was not the host's fault, but we were not allowed to be seated there because of other reservations, even though the tables were empty during our time there. Our waitress was extremely welcoming and sweet. She took the time to share the history of the restaurant and welcome us for our brief trip in Tampa. We were able to use our hotel drink vouchers for mocktails which was nice. I got a blood orange spritz and my fiancé got a strawberry tonic. The mocktails were very ok. I was most excited to try the oysters. I'm a huge oyster person. On the evening we were there, they had three different types of oysters. You're required to order the oysters for $12 for three. I got excited when I saw the single seafood tower with oysters. I had asked our waitress to do one of each type of oyster in the five that came with the tower. When our single tower came out, we weren't told which oyster was which. We waited a bit to get our waitress' attention and she told me they were all the same Alabama ones. I'm not sure what happened, but I wish I knew we couldn't mix and match in the seafood tower before ordering. One of the five oysters did not look good either, it was cloudy and milky in a gone bad way. The other four were good though. The poke had too much full pepper grains in it and the fish dip was way too salty for my liking. I wish we had a better food experience here.

Came in for a quick lunch & we sat outside on the patio, I'd highly recommend! Server was super friendly and attentive. Food portions were huge, I'd highly recommended sharing if possible. Food was so good.

I recently went to Oystercatchers for brunch. Here is what I thought. Atmosphere: I've been going to Oystercatchers since I was a kid and it will always be one of my favorite places to eat. I came here for my post-wedding brunch with my husband! The building always looks great on the inside and I'm happy it was fine from the hurricanes. We sat on their outside shaded balcony, it was so nice and relaxing. You can't beat their unobstructed view of the water! It felt so private too. Service: The service is always great here. Everyone was so friendly and congratulated us on our marriage. Food: We loved our brunch. We ordered their pastry basket as an appetizer and everything on it was delicious and filling, you can definitely share it between 3-4 people. I had their 'B.E.C Sandwich' for my entree and it was delicious. It was a little hard to eat because it was so big, so I just ate it with a fork and knife. It said it would come with a side salad, but came it potatoes instead. My husband tried their 'Crab Cake Benedict' which he thoroughly enjoyed. We took leftovers home. We love Oystercatchers and will definitely back for another dinner or brunch! Instagram: @living.with.reg

We had about an hour and a half before our flight home so we made a lunch pitstop in to Oystercatchers. What we really wanted on this trip was fresh oysters and we were made whole with a selection of three types. We were told that each day there are three different oysters available. We chose two types sold in sets of three at $4 each. These were the most expensive we had eaten in three different spots by far but since we were on vacation, we considered it to be ok. Presentation was perfect- served chilled with the ice underneath and not on top of them, without the local traditional crackers either. The two types we chose were delicious and fresh. Each day you'll have a different and fun set of choices. For lunch my wife chose the tuna poke and I had a burger I never expected to finish. We ate everything brought to us and I may have bitten a chunk off the plate. Cooked perfectly and juicy, my burger turned out to be a delightful surprise. She loved the tuna poke so it was a super stellar lunch. Our server Kelly was super friendly and being a local from the immediate area gave us some great directions. She brought our food quickly and knowing we were headed to the airport, she got us checked out quickly. With outside and inside seating that all take in views of the incredible water and beach sand, you can't help but be relaxed from the moment you walk in. For that special night out, there is valet for your car and the overall feel of the decor makes you realize that you're somewhere special.

How much is the buffet nowadays (2018)? Do they have live music during brunch? Valet parking is no longer complimentary? Thanks!!!

It's about $56 for Sunday brunch. Yes, sometimes they do have live music. Valet is still complimentary! This is by far one of my top favorite Sunday brunch spots.

Is there a la carte options during brunch ? I would enjoy the buffet but it wouldn't be worth the price for my wife who would only eat some eggs and bacon.

Different flavor profiles so it depends on what mood you're in. For food, I chose to do the Prix Fixe menu for $29 and went with the House Salad + Salmon Crispy Rice + Poke Bowl. The salad was phenomenal and the salmon crispy rice was perfectly cooked. Unfortunately the poke bowl wasn't that great. I ended up not finishing it. I tried my friend's dishes as well and her Pork Belly Cubano was good, but her Chili Lime Chicken was not -- the flavors were conflicting and didn't mesh well. We also ordered off the regular menu and really enjoyed the Fried Green Tomatoes and Tuna Crispy Rice. Overall, lunch wasn't bad. Definitely a great deal. I think when I come back again, I may stick to the regular menu or I may have to choose the Pork Belly Cuban.

I went on a Sunday and had the best experience. The ambiance was beautiful--everything was clean, the noise level was not loud at all, and I loved the lighting and overall atmosphere of the open-concept space. It felt comfortable, elevated, and easy to enjoy a full meal without feeling overwhelmed or rushed. Our server was training someone, but you couldn't even tell--it was so professional. One thing I noticed was how many people work there, and I really hope it stays that way. Each staff member had a specific role, and it made the entire service feel seamless. There was no rushing and no stress on the servers. You could tell they really enjoyed what they were doing. They also offer complimentary valet, and you can even Venmo a tip, which made arrival and departure super easy. At the end of our meal, someone even came to box up our food for us--we didn't have to do it ourselves. Very old school NY!!! Top-tier service. As for the food: the oysters we had were flavorful, and the garlic bread selection was soft and not overly heavy on the garlic. My friend ordered the scallops with risotto and crispy prosciutto, and I ordered the special chicken Parmesan with a side of spaghetti in a lemon sauce that they suggested. I was in the mood for a lemon-flavored pasta, and they absolutely delivered. Both plates were phenomenal. I wish they had a place like this in Orlando. I also wish the chicken parm would always be a special because that sauce was delicious. Growing up in Brooklyn, I've had some really good Italian food--and I would absolutely come back here. I'd give service five stars and food five stars. Thank you for a great meal--you did not disappoint.
