And while I was sitting there there was a TV that let me watch some recaps of the NBA playoffs. Anyway, the burger was really good. It came out quick, the fries came out hot and fresh. They're more like potato wedges but that's perfectly okay! The burger itself was made with what seem like fresh ingredients, onions and tomatoes and all that. I have no complaints about that. Now there's no other condiments on the table though. So she gave me a bottle of ketchup and then I had to ask for mayonnaise. So usually you would have a self-serve place that would have a condiment bar or already have it at the table so it was interesting that they didn't have anything like that for a burger spot but that's not the end of the world. The quality of the burger was good. Would I go back, absolutely! The burger was good and filling, all the vegetables crunched, the fries came out removed grease on them so you know that came straight out to fryer, Burger Patty was pretty decently seated. There is a lot of parking, but know the entrance is on the side of the building, not the front facing the road. Spaces are adjacent to the building as well as in a row in the rest of the large lot. Walking in, the sign indicated we should seat ourselves, so we found a booth. Seating consists of tables and booths, with a larger table in the section near the front of the building. It is an older building which could use some freshening, but everything was clean. Even the worn floors and table tops were clean and not sticky. Our waitress arrived within a minute or two of us sitting down, bringing the menus and took our drink order. We got our drinks in two different deliveries. Our waitress had several tables she was working and seemed to handle them well, dropping off items at the various tables as she walked by. Our food took maybe 10 minutes to arrive. I ordered the "2 egg special". My eggs were cooked exactly as I ordered. The two sausage patties were cooked completely but not overdone. The biscuits and gravy were excellent. The biscuit could stand up to the gravy but was still soft enough to cut with a fork. The sausage gravy was thick and plentiful. I did add a little more pepper, but that is a personal preference. My dining partner's veggie omelet was very good. All vegetables tasted fresh, and the addition of sour cream amped up the flavor. The grits were nothing special, but it's really hard to make grits stand out. Lillie Maes is a great place for a filling and good southern country breakfast, and they also have a lunch and dinner menu. I expect I will be coming back here often.
