I've eaten here dozens of times and thought I had reviewed it previously. The owners and waitresses of The Harvester are the friendliest you'll find in a restaurant. Both Melissa and Brent, the owners, greet me by name when I come in. All of the waitresses are attentive and engaging. The hamburger I had was excellent. It was cooked perfectly and put on a grilled bun. The chicken-rice soup was quite tasty. Though I didn't have one this time, I have to rave about their milkshakes. They are made with real ice cream and are thick and flavorful. The Harvester is very much a family restaurant, and kids seem to really enjoy it. read more

This place was recommended to me for breakfast by a 91 year old.. He knew his stuff! He said that the Harvester would be great for a large group to go for breakfast. The portions were HUGE, the hot cocoa looked AMAZING. The food was great. Spangle obviously only needs one restaurant. We had a group of 18 and we were all served at once, never had an empty glass of water, the coffees were always being refilled and hot the entire time. read more

No really, this place is just down the road from my house and I have been here off and on over the past, well a very long time, and the food has always been delicious. The girls here are friendly, something that is not always the case with servers!! As for me it is my go to place for breakfast on the weekends, right before I head out on the scooter!! I pretty much agree with Charleen. Things apparently haven't changed in the past few years. Stopped in on my way from Pullman to the Spokane airport. I had constantly passed the building in the distance with the giant letters spelling RESTAURANT on it's roof. But not today. Today I stopped. The menu is pretty traditional country cooking. Country fried chicken, stews, soups, sandwiches, burgers, steaks, you get the picture. The restaurant is bigger than you'd expect given it's location. It must be the only one in town, because it seems like the entire town of Spangle could fit inside. The prices are a bit higher than you'd expect, but you do get a good amount of food for your money. I ordered a French dip sandwich at the recommendation of the waitress. I wouldn't say there was anything special about it, I mean what can you do with a french dip? But it was very, very good. I didn't see bread pudding on the menu or I would probably have gotten some. The only dessert I noticed was Cyrus O'Leary pie, which I can get at Safeway. Overall, worth the stop. I'll probably be a regular, when on my way to the airport. read more

I took my parents for a drive and dinner with the Harvester being the intended location. It's a nice 20-25 minute drive from Spokane and the food here is worth the drive. I did not expect to have some of the best cod I've ever had in a small farming community, but that's indeed what happened. The potatoes were also amazing and homemade as well as everything else. If you're on the way somewhere and need a place to eat, or fancy an outing from Spokane, it's a great restaurant to check out. This is a nice, large restaurant with amazing food, worth the drive. read more

Took my wife to a yarn shop near Spangle ... the owner recommended two places for our lunch dining. We loved our lunch here at the Harvester, and will be repeat diners in the future ... and will have to try breakfast and dinner. This is a small town restaurant. If you go here, order the Santa Fe Chicken. It's OUT OF THIS WORLD for a small town restaurant. The food is so good. Doesn't have that "small town" taste. According to the menu, the Santa Fe Chicken was a "new" item. I asked the food server how "new" it was. The food server said, "it's been on the menu a year, but people are now just noticing....." This is a small town restaurant where lots of locals come. So, if you aren't a local, you may.... get temporarily ignored while the food servers notice a local and do the "Hi, how are you, how's Fred's lumbago?" thing. The food server asked if I was ready to order, I still needed more time to see the entire menu. She said, "Let me know when you are ready." Well, I thought it would be tacky to just yell out, "OK, READY!" so I tried to do the subtle thing of holding the menu in the air, still took about four minutes to notice me between all the "how's Fred's lumbago" stuff. Oh well, small town, what can you say? The salad was bigger than I've seen at other restaurants. But, like other restaurants, it was 95% lettuce, and a few carrots and a few pieces of red cabbage with dressing. Not even a tomato! The menu had a picture of the chicken shown with steamed green beans. I didn't get that, I got corn. The corn was delicious, but I thought it was a bit much to have corn when rice was under the chicken. But it was delicious! Plenty of room to park an RV even with a toad! If the parking lot is full, maybe you can park the RV in the empty gravel lot across the street..... Good food for a small town! read more

I was expecting better from the high reviews. A nice little diner serving standard diner fare. Not particularly good. Carrots were not good. Mashed potatoes were passable. My steak was pretty good and prepared med rare as requested. Perhaps they serve a 5-star breakfast, I don't know, but this is not a 5-star diner. If you go in expecting 3-star food, you won't be disappointed. read more

The mushroom steak sandwich had a great char flavor and tasted a lot like a juicy cheesesteak without the peppers & onions. I'd recommend that. Okay this place I came to growing up every time I visited my grandparents or family here. Great place and beautiful, the restaurant and the surrounding area. Classic place and love it. But now with the food. It is so well made and great portions. And it's always been so delicious. But I haven't been here in years, and now I have many restrictions at least with restaurants. So I have to make a very special order to accommodate to my eating lifestyle or not eat at all at the place, but we were at a family reunion celebrating my grandmas life so I didn't want to skip out. These amazing people took into all my accommodations of no salt and minimal oil, and minimal butter. And not only that but was able to listen for my special order and it just means the world. Heather did such a great job and was so understanding and it means a lot to me. She even checked the ground sirloin fat percentage (without me actually directly asking her too, and came and let me know so I could adjust my order). I'm so thankful we had her, But the food was overall delicious, the staff, as I've said were amazing, I love the decor, and this place was great and always has been and hopefully always will be. Being a student at UCA, I have the opportunity to frequent this restaurant and so do many of the other students. Speaking for them and myself, this place is just a staple for us all. Classic American that is just consistently good. The milkshakes are very good. The burgers are good. Beware of the mozzarella sticks. They do have the potential to give you heart problems with a massive smile on your face. Fries are great. It has a nice family atmosphere. It is just good. No other way to put it. read more

Stopped with a large group of car enthusiasts for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The staff had the dining room all set up for us and were ready for our group, greeting us warmly as we walked in. They prepared a yummy spaghetti meal - wonderful flavored meat sauce and noodles cooked perfectly! For those not eating the spaghetti a full menu was available to order from. I have been going to the Harvester once in awhile for the last 30 years and had never had a bad meal. I stopped in while my car was being serviced and ordered biscuits and sausage gravy. I'm sure the NHL will be knocking on their door soon, because what I was served resembled nothing so much as hockey pucks. The gravy was delicious, with plenty of sausage bits. The server adjusted the bill, but the damage was done. I can't believe the cook could put that on a plate without realizing how hard it was. read more

Comfort food- for most people. I had the healthiest thing I could find, eggs benedict florentine without the bread. It was much more greasy than I was hoping; mostly the hash browns, but there was way too much sauce and it was jiggly and flavorless. I was let down. I felt yucky after eating only half.
