My husband and I have been to the downtown location and were thrilled when we found out that there were opening one in Peoria. The food was great! My husband enjoyed the salmon.com and I loved their yellow tail carpaccio & Hot Havana. I only wish the restaurant wasn't so cramped. The tables are so very close to each other. Awful service! I placed a takeout order on New Year's Eve and was told that they were very backed up because they were down a chef that night, so it would take 90 minutes. It was a party holiday, so we understood and said okay we can wait. Ninety minutes later we are pulling up to the restaurant and my husband notices that he just missed a call. He calls back and it's Harumi Sushi telling us that they closed early and threw out our order. We placed a huge order and they threw it away?? Hmmm, that sounds suspicious. We were told 90 minutes, and 90 minutes later we are pulling up to the restaurant with our NYE plans ruined. We had a party planned with no food. They told us the food had been sitting out for over an hour and it's policy to dump food that has been out that long (perfectly understandable), but the math ain't mathing. We were told 90 minutes and on our way to the restaurant nearly 80 minutes later they call to tell us??? Do better Harumi Sushi! You have delicious food, but your service is absolutely terrible. Sadly, this is not the first time y'all have messed up our orders, but it is definitely the last. Lesson learned! read more

Amazing This was our first visit to Harumi Sushi and Sake and it was amazing. The restraunt was very busy we waited for about 30 minutes .Well, worth the wait, because the food was exceptional . Harumi's is one of the best sushi restaurants I have visited. A fantastic culinary experience.  On this visit we shared the super crunch shrimp, shrimp tempura, Oh My God roll, stuffed jalapeño, and Vegas roll and everything was delicious. The Oh My God Roll arrives to your table wrapped in foil and it is then lit on fire. It was so flavor and the presentation was amazing. Harumi uses wild black rice, which turns to a purple color when cooked. I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy the rice, however, it was delicious as was our entire meal. Harumi offers a wide variety of saki and for the non-saki drinkers , I recommend the Japanese melon cream soda - it was so flaorful and refreshing. Great service, delicious food, reasonable prices. I have to start out by saying WOW. I have lived in Glendale for 7 years and I have finally found the most incredible sushi. I went today with a friend. I had looked at the menu before I went and knew I had to try the Ahi Tower ( Sushi Rice, Spicy Tuna, Crab Salad, Avocado, Tobiko, Eel Sauce, Spicy Mayo and Tempura Flakes), OMG amazing. My friend who is a vegetarian, ordered the Veggie Roll. I also ordered the Seaweed Salad. For desert we had the green tea Mochi. I have to say, I never finish my food and couldn't get enough, it was that good. So fresh and delicious flavors. Our waiter Julia was fantastic. I saw someone who ordered the Oh My God Roll. We ordered the Omakase, Ahi Tower, Harumi roll, Sex and the City roll, Arizona roll, and the Oh My God roll. It's difficult to pick a favorite because all of them tasted so different but so delicious and fresh! We went on a Thursday around 4p and it was only a quarter full, by 5p the place was packed! Music and ambiance is great. Its nice having dinner in a place around 4 corners with a different variety in music. Service was excellent. One order filled us up. Today we brought 4 more friends. We had the same main plate but bought the Vegas roll for all to share. Just returned for our first visit there and I must say we were a bit underwhelmed. The ambience in the main restaurant is just dark. Black walls, ceiling, shades and dark windows and loud music which makes it hard to see and communicate. It is very uninviting. The servers were all very nice, but seemed a bit confused. Where is the flavor, it's not in the purple rice I guarantee you. No more red and green tortilla chips with my Mexican food either. So this was an almost 30 mile drive for me and it's 100% worth it. If y'all open another location, pleaseeeee come to the Goodyear area . They have some of the best tasting salmon roe /ikura nigiri I have had in a long time. They don't skimp on the portion either. Everything I got here was so good. I really love that they have an option where you can try 3 half rolls, they have many, so this gives you a way to taste a variety in one trip, which I loved. My husband and I tried Harumi a few weeks ago as we wanted to do something new for sushi. I'll preface this review by saying that we are vegetarian & don't eat much fish so, if you are like us, this review will probably be for you! The menu had a decent selection of vegetarian items to choose from & the quality of the food was great! The downside of the menu is that they didn't have any kid options. The server was kind enough to provide recommendations off the regular menu for our 15 month old but I would like to see a small kids menu in the future. It was a busier night so we sat outside but it was pretty chilly & they didn't have any heaters so if you are looking to go, make sure to dress warm (during the winter obviously). Their serving process is a little odd where they all work together for tips. I used to be in the service industry & liked pooling & working together with my coworkers, however, as a patron, I did not. It was nice to have multiple people check on us but it got annoying after they would check on us within the same minute as each other without knowing. I would say there could be a better process in place so the patrons are still being taken care of but not being smothered. Overall, we'll most likely visit again! read more

Harumi is a nice addition to the Upper West Side. The other nearby "sushi" restaurants have steadily declined. For reference, this was our first time dining here and we were seated on the patio. The outdoor fans were definitely a nice touch and helped a lot. The service was beyond superior and the food was great. Our server Nathan and everyone that assisted him throughout the night were on point. Between the 6 of us our goal was to try a little bit of everything. The Oh My God Roll, seared tuna, spider roll, fresh kizami wasabi and spicy tuna tataki were just a few of the favorites we ordered and loved.
