Any arrival after would definitely guarantee a wait. We sat outside on the porch area. There was decent airflow and they had fans to help with circulation. The table was a bit wobbly but nothing a few folded napkins couldn't fix, if you know the trick. The downside of outside, or just our waitress in general, was the service seemed a bit slow. When our waitress was serving us she was very friendly. She did ask my opinion on my food order and then told me after I got my food, my thoughts and that it's a hit or miss dish. It made me a bit apprehensive. For reference I ordered the Merenda Hotcakes. I'm a sucker for banana pancakes and they did hit the spot. My only critique would be to put the chocolate sauce between the hotcakes so the chocolate melts and can be distributed with each bite, instead of one big glob on the top. I ended up flipping my top pancake over to make a pancake/chocolate sauce "sandwich" to ensure chocolate and banana in every bite. I needed some protein and also had a side of sausage patties which were good as well. Also at the table chocolate chip pancakes and bacon, very tasty per my sister. Our server, Gabriela R, was so real and attentive. I ordered a FROZEN PINA COLADA, the Churrasco Platter with lamb chops, and hot chocolate. The Hot Chocolate was DIVINE !!! You can tell it was made with real milk and love. I loved the lamb chops , they had a very neutral flavor that emboldened the flavor of the lamb. The achiote was soooo good, I'm so happy that the Sims 4 put me on to Ecuadorean Potato Pancakes. The pina colada was perfect ! Our expected wait was 30-45 min; our actual wait was 1 hour. Another tip is you can hop on their waitlist from their website. Ugh, it's Google. (Wish they used Yelp Waitlist!) We started with coffee drinks and ordered the gyro plate with a side of fries and the Spitiko (a Greek-inspired omelette with feta, mozzarella, green onions, spinach, and tomatoes with a side of hashbrowns and a biscuit). I asked for no mozzarella, and unfortch when the food came out, it had mozz. In a fainty state, I just kept the plate as is and picked off what I could. Service was good, food is good; I just don't think it was worth that wait. I'll give them another try on a slower non-holiday. read more

I usually stop by Harry's at least once for breakfast every time I'm in Houston because it's my friend's parents' favorite early morning spot! We always asked to sit in Melina's section because she knows everyone's orders and treats us so well. Today we came in with a group of 5 around 7:45 and were seated immediately at one of the low tables near the bar area. I wasn't super hungry so I got the Churras-quito menu item instead of my usual Churrasco Platter; my favorite thing to get here are the llapingachos, which are delicious Ecuadorian potato-cheese patties. I've never had them anywhere else but I love the ones at Harry's, super cheesy, flavorful, and texturally interesting. The smaller entree also comes with a refreshing little side salad with avocado and a link of grilled jalapeño-cheese sausage, which has an excellent char. In the bigger platter I usually get the baby lamb chops -- they're a little pricy but the lamb is very tender. I also always get the fresh squeezed orange juice and it really hits the spot. Our food was great only thing was for my plate I had chicken and biscuits and it did not come with gravy which I found weird so had to order it additional. My kids had the pancakes and weren't too impressed they were pretty plain. My husband had an omelette and said it was the best omelet he's ever had. Part of our group was already seated when the rest of us came in. Three women in our group were wearing crop tops. Two of them--both skinny--were allowed in without a word. But when our third friend, who is a little heavier, walked in, she was stopped at the door and told she couldn't come in because of the "dress code." Let's be clear: this wasn't about a dress code. This was body shaming, plain and simple. If crop tops aren't allowed, then none of the three should've been let in. Instead, they singled her out because of her size, and it was humiliating, cruel, and disgusting to watch. We refused to give this place our business and walked out. I was thoroughly impressed by their latte offerings and loved my spicy latte (featured offering- not too sweet!). We ordered the baklava French toast, pupusa with Curtido and hash browns. One of the best brunch experience I've had in a while, despite the long lines that greeted me when I arrived. It was about a half hour wait until I was able to be seated, but the food and service was worth every bit of the wait! I ordered the waffle and spicy chicken while my friend ordered the spitiko omelet. When the plates arrived, I was shocked by the portion size; let's just say my order ended up serving me for two nice filling breakfasts instead of one thanks to my air fryer at home. I definitely felt like I got value for my bucks when dining at Harry's, and I was thoroughly taken care of with my every need during my dining experience thanks to the attentive staff. My friend and I unknowingly talked till closing time, and no one bothered us during our conversations, and it wasn't until we saw that the staff were cleaning the tables and flipping up the chairs that we suddenly realized the time and got up to leave. It's not often that you see such accommodating service at popular restaurants, and for that, I wish I can offer an extra star! I regret finding Harry's so late in my search for Houston's top brunch spots, but it has certainly made a lasting impression and rose to be one of my favorites quickly. Extremely disappointed and honestly pretty grossed out. This restaurant just put me off completely. We were seated right next to the food line, so I had a clear view of everything being prepared. When I ordered, I specifically asked the server how big the yogurt bowl was. I even pointed to the one that was already sitting on the line. That exact same bowl was brought to my table almost 45 minutes later. When it arrived, I told them I didn't want it because I literally watched it sit there the entire time. Instead of remaking it fresh, both the server and the manager argued with me and insisted "there's nothing wrong with it" because it was "sitting in a cold area." Sorry, but serving a yogurt bowl that's been sitting out for nearly an hour is NOT OK. Anyone who has worked in food service should know better. I'm an RN now but before graduation, I was a server and had been in customer service and hospitality for over 6+ years. With that being said, I have the upmost respect for hospitality workers. One thing I learned in my serving days is, if a guest says they don't want something because it isn't fresh, you remake it--no questions asked. On top of that, the attitude was honestly rude. There was absolutely zero accountability or willingness to correct the situation. When I brought the issue to their attention almost every staff member turned to look as if I were causing an issue. I was very polite about it but was treated like a rude customer. I was seated and our drinks were brought out right away that was basically the only good thing. After that the service was just downhill. They brought us out our appetizers 30 min in between.. first was the fried yucca balls then the gyro French fries. The yucca wasn't very good it tasted bland. The gyro fries were actually very good this is the reason I'm giving it two stars. I got the fried chicken plate which was only dark meat and the potatoes were kinda hard and bland. Worse customer service ever. They made us feel uncomfortable from the get go. We came here to celebrate my sisters bday over brunch. We knew it was a big party (15) but she had made reservations beforehand giving them the size of the party. We all arrived on time but they gave the table away claiming we weren't all there when no one came to check on us after they said they were getting things ready. First woman in a white cardigan seemed annoyed at us and wanted to separate the party in different rooms of the restaurant, claiming they can't put any tables together although we saw 3 separate empty tables in the room that could have accommodated us. All of this and not wanting to give us extra chairs when we decided to try to squeeze together and make it work, having us stand awkwardly in the restaurant. What seemed like the owner, came by not reassuring us either, until they finally caved and scooted the empty table to us.. All of this really had a simple solution but they were so persistent about not wanting to put tables together. I work customer service and know some customers can be entitled and annoying but none of us were being disrespectful at any point. We even felt scorned when the waiter came to drop off drinks screaming the names (understandable it's loud there) but when a friend tried to make sure her cappuccino had almond milk due to her lactose intolerance we were hit with an "idk. CAPPUCCINO!!" It was an uncomfortable experience that only the waiter at the end made better. He was kind and let the little oopsies like spilling champagne feel minor. The restaurant is very modern and clean inside with outdoor patio seating as well. Lots of parking in the lot and side street parking as well. The service at the restaurant is on point. We were greeted immediately upon entry and met with our waitress shortly after. Their drink and food menu has a huge variety of options which makes it a great choice for a picky eater. I ordered the spiced latte for my drink which was delicious! Just as the description said, not too sweet at all. The latte artwork was very cute for aesthetics as well. For my meal I ordered the spicy chicken (thigh) and waffles which I really enjoyed! The waffles were fluffy and soft and the chicken was super juicy/ not dry at all since it was a thigh piece. Were sat right away, and they have a GREAT assortment of drink and food options (along with fusions). It is a very calm and home like interior feeling. Food came out timely and was AMAZING. The ambiance here is business casual, a little more formal than your average family diner. It's a nice, upscale, and fresh option with lots of bright light. They open early too, which is a plus for early risers. That being said, it is rather pricy for the food. The food did not particularly wow me, it was average, especially for the price. That's fine, because margins are expected, especially for an aesthetic cafe, but a guest doesn't come in for specialty food, they should at least come in for the service. But even the service was mediocre. Our server did not seem like she wanted to be there.
