Always fresh, hot, and we'll seasoned.I think I may like it better than Harold's Chicken in Chicago.

The chicken is seasoned well, juicy along with a airy and crispy outer crust. The popular mild sauce is very tasty also.

I was born and raised on the south side of Chicago and Harold's has been a staple in my life since I was a child.

The oysters were the bomb of course. The biscuits were so crispy but soft on the inside and the shrimp butter had the perfect umami flavor! Entrees: Fish Sandwich & Jerk Chicken Burger. Both perfectly executed! Texture, flavor, spice! We ordered the beet salad as a light side to our sandwiches. If you like earthy flavors, this salad is for you! The beets and dandelion greens are earthy and slightly bitter while the cheese adds a layer of creaminess and sweetness from the walnuts. Drinks: Birds of Paradise (YUUMM) It's sweet and tart. The Yellowbelly drink is very rum forward with spices on the backend. The glasses and garnishments are on point!!

Street parking is ok, but if you're like me and that stresses you out - just know there's a little garage with the bank that is pretty cheap to park at. Now, onto the important stuff. The food is great. The drinks are well crafted. There's something for everyone here. Love happy hour. Fries are delish. Chicken sandwich and coconut shrimp are bangers. Boyfriend loves the lobster roll, but it's not huge! We've had wonderful service anytime we've been here. The lighting is dim. It's a perf date night. Desserts are also a hit! Ask the servers for their recs. If you're going for brunch, also excellent. I've been once. The lobster enchiladas were 10/10.

Typically I have always done dinner with…read morecousins, but they now have married children and grandchildren to have holiday dinner with, so I went out on my own. I researched the internet for restaurants open on Christmas Day and picked, The Preston. I picked them based on their pre-fixed menu and price. After my dining experience, I would say it was a good choice and value. My Christmas dinner started off with a, Seared Scallop. I love Scallops and it really got my holiday meal off to a great start. Then I had a Beet Salad. It was the first time I had a beet salad with greens, but the spiced vinaigrette pulled it all together. My entree was, Prime Rib. It came with Horseradish Mashed Potatoes, Roasted Asparagus and Mushroom Bordelaise. The Prime Rib was fork tender. I enjoyed the potatoes and the asparagus still had a snap to it, which I like. I wasn't a fan of the Bordelaise. Yes, it did have a good flavor, I just wanted my prime rib, plain. My dessert was a, French Silk Tart. You can't go wrong with chocolate. When I arrived I told the host since I was a single diner, I wouldn't mind sitting at the bar. He thanked me and told me I'd be pleased with Madeline the bartender. He was right, she was attentive and made my Christmas dinner enjoyable.

First and foremost, I loved the ambiance. It was bright and open with modern, upscale touches. The menu looks pretty appealing and had some upscale takes on standard breakfast fare. I ordered the Good Morning Mr. Preston sandwich. Unfortunately, it was very dry and lackluster - even after asking for an extra side of aioli, it was pretty disappointing. The vegetable and herb potatoes seemed like an afterthought. I expected more out of the food, especially considering the upscale vibe and prices, and can't say I'd be back again.

Tthe crab cake was one of the standout dishes of the night--packed with flavor, perfectly cooked, and beautifully plated. Every dish felt thoughtful and high quality. The dauphinoise potatoes are a MUST! You can tell why reservations here are so hard to get--it's one of those places that truly delivers. And of course, we had to end with the hot fudge sundae, which was such a fun and nostalgic dessert experience with every topping you could want. Wright's Tavern is definitely worth the reservation and a spot I'd happily return to again.

My filet au poivre and my husband's French dip were forgettable at best. My steak was overcooked (ordered medium rare and came out close to medium well). With such a lean cut of meat, the overcooking of it ruined it. The Au poivre sauce which likely had cognac needed to be cooked off as it was extremely bitey (and salty). There was no peppery flavor at all. My cocktail, on the other hand, was delicious and well made (old fashioned) and our server was efficient, helpful, and timely. Overall I enjoyed the atmosphere. I've had the crab cake before so I didn't get it this time, and it's as good as people say. It is huge and can be shared with at LEAST two people. I'd likely visit again but I'll probably stay away from these two entrees next time.
