This is one of our go to places whenever we are in that neck of the woods. Frankly, I'm surprised I haven't reviewed it before. This last visit this past Saturday night prompted me to do so. This place is consistently four or five stars, even the last couple years when food items and good service have been in scarce supply. Harmony Inn had always delivered. This last trip was our first one in a few months, and an updated menu with some nice additions was a welcome surprise. They make great cocktails, of course have wonderful beers on tap what their affiliation with North Country and a decent wine list. It leans towards German fare, but good German fair, like Wiener schnitzel, pork shank, and Spätzle. Not just traditional brats and pretzels. It breaks my heart to award only two stars to the formerly fantastic Harmony Inn. We are fully aware that things have become more challenging since the pandemic but there really can't be any excuse for the issues we faced tonight. First, their potato pancakes used to be delicious crusty little fritters served with sour cream and applesauce. They were a side dish. Now, they're literally a bit of frozen hash browns that aren't even properly cooked. They're served with an apple "chutney" which is the aforementioned apple sauce with more sugar and a little cinnamon. A major disappointment and they charged us $10 for about seventy five cents worth of undercooked frozen hash browns from a bag. Listed on the menu for $9 which, frankly, was bad enough. The waitress was friendly and very nice but not very attentive. Long stretches between table visits. We ordered a Girl From The North Country burger that comes with crispy onion. The kitchen sent it out without them. When we asked if they had forgotten them our waitress disappeared again for what seemed like kind of a long time only to return to tell us they'd been out of that topping all day. So they tried to pass it through incomplete with no apology or explanation until we asked. Made us think they were hoping we wouldn't notice. Prices were high. Food quality was low. The menu was smaller with some of their signature items missing completely. No more sauerbraten and no more of the puff pastry sandwiches my wife loved so well. Other items missing as well. Wouldn't surprise me if they'd gotten a new kitchen manager or maybe under different management altogether. Either way, not an improvement. Overall, we have loved dining at this place in the past and after tonight I wouldn't care if I ever returned. It was THAT much of a decline. Nice atmosphere but that doesn't mean anything when they've wrecked the menu. read more

We love this place! Everything about it! It's a beautiful old hotel, then a home and then a restaurant! Located in Harmony which is an adorable town rich in local history. It has a fantastic outdoor seating area in the summer, outdoor bar and you can even bring your dog to hang out! Live music on Sundays, a fun bar any night of the week and the atmosphere is top notch! Also the food and local brews!!!! My personal fav are the salads however the Rubens run a close second! read more

The menu was small and very different from previous visits. Got the potato pancakes as they were delicious last time. This time....just freaking undercooked raw hashbrowns! They were terrible. Fries were also bad and gave like 5 of them with a sandwich. Service was also bad. Was standing at desk and lady ignored us several times to go answer the phone. Going downhill. When we walked in, the place smelled like foul fish. There was a salmon special that day. I definitely was not ordering that, and we almost left. The room was empty but the hostess started to seat us right next to the only other table in there. There is no 6 feet apart in this place. We sat inside and it was all dirty. Where other restaurants are going the extra mile with cleanliness, this place has dirty tables, dirty menus, dirty walls, no masks (I guess the owner is famously opposed to mask wearing so he makes no additional efforts to keep his staff safe which leads me to believe that the staff and clientele are less likely to be cautious, considerate or even vaccinated), etc. Our dishes came out dirty. Squeeze bottle ketchup passed between tables and dirty. My napkin had white crusty stuff on it. Regardless of COVID, we still would've felt squeamish about this visit. Okay, so food. The crema on the Flatbread was curdled so it had a chunky, gritty texture. Neither of us could find anything we really wanted. Pretzels were so dry. The cheese was watery. I thought I remembered at least this stuff being good. Burger patty was too big and dry. Fries were good. Salad was fine. The water is not good which is odd. I've never really had a thought about a glass of water before. At the end we felt like we wasted both money and valuable stomach real estate. Service was fine. read more

Cute hidden gem just outside of Zelienople. With a German themed menu and cool ambiance inside and out this little restaurant/ bar is a must visit! Lexi is an amazing bartender and serves the most tasty drinks! The menu is reasonably priced and the bacon wrapped scallops are TO DIE FOR! As was the steak spatzle. Ask for Lexi!!! She won't let you down! The only downside I noticed was the lack of parking. There's a small stone parking lot behind the harmony inn and the rest is street parking. They do have live bands that play outside over the summer with is a nice addition! Rooms upstairs would be great for celebrations like a baby or wedding shower etc! The food at the Harmony Inn was amazing! It's also a really cool atmosphere in an old converted. Victorian house (reportedly haunted) Wooden plank, floors, small rooms off of other rooms, very cute environment. It's mostly German fair so it's hearty and very tasty. The wait staff was very attentive, and very friendly. We will definitely be back! read more

Ordered takeout, wish I would've sat down and eaten, the place looked beautiful inside and out!!! The girl that took my order was nice and the food was excellent, especially the red cabbage!!! Also had the oven roasted salmon which was great, as well as asparagus, and they were coated in garlic butter!!! For sure will be back to this place. read more

I really want to like this place. It is an old inn and aesthetically very nice looking. My first visit was March of 2021 for an after dinner drink and soft pretzel w my boyfriend. We sat in the outside patio area and although not busy, the service was lack luster. It turned into a 2 hour after dinner drink and appetizer when an hour would have been plenty. Fast forward to a few weeks ago. While it was a Saturday night, it was busy but not crazy busy. We put our name in w the host for 3 people. Told it would be 45 minutes. We got drinks outside, which took awhile yet again. I'm not sure if they staff the outside bartender for the inside too because she left and no one was staffing the bar. It took awhile for our drinks yet again. Not a good pattern. We found a table in the bar for 2 of 3 of us to sit at. We only had an offer to wait on us for drinks when one server saw my boyfriend waiting for awhile. She never offered that we could just order and eat there! It has now been almost an hour and nothing! I go up to the host and ask what is up. He says there is a 5 and 6 top in-front of us. Ugh. We're all hangry by this point so we leave. Mind you, I gave my number for them to text me when our table was ready. We're almost home to Seven Fields with takeout from a restaurant that could get it together with the same type of food, and I get a call. It's the harmony inn asking if we're ready for our table. I had already texted back cancel when I got the text but the host said they didn't get the text reply. So not only do they have poor staffing and service, but the waitlist system clearly doesn't work here. Very disappointing to have a less than stellar experience two times in a row. I don't know that we'll give it a third try, especially that it's out in the middle of nowhere. read more

Sunday afternoon luncheon. Pretty empty and good service. But the flies and other local insects were a bit of a bother ... although we were seated indoors by a window. Bar area is a smoking area so make sure to go around the outside way if you're highly sensitive. Restrooms are also located in bar area so no way around the smell if you're trying. Food was ok. Local mixed drinks are a bit expensive. Not a full bar. Only local stuff. read more

The atmosphere is very cozy and the staff makes you feel at home. My wife and I split the goat cheese pillows as an appetizer which were a little pricey but very good. I ordered the fish sandwich which was huge and delicious. The beer selection was also top notch. No complaints. read more

Wonderful lunch. I had "Beef on weck" -- ie thinly sliced roast beef au jus on a salty kimmelweck bun. So good! (Those sandwiches are standard bar food in Buffalo, and I have missed them!) I did ask for more horseradish sauce. Sandwich was served with fries (terrific, crispy) and a generous container of au jus. My friends had potato pancakes, spaetzle, spaetzle with chicken, and "Firesticks" (generous portion of deep friend chunks of chicken, with any wing sauce.) The Harmony Inn also has lots of outdoor seating - and I look forward to visiting again in warmer weather! read more

Schnitzel totally rocked my socks off. Brussel sprouts appetizer was banging and the mustard served with the pretzels rocked the rest of my clothes off. Was completely naked by the end of the night and no one batted an eye, probably due to it happening to guests so frequently. My husband I eat here a lot especially in the summer as their outdoor patio/bar is great and dog friendly . Wednesday and Sunday evenings they have live music which is always fun . The food is solid and they have many menu items we love . My husband's favorite is the best of the wurst platter and I especially love the grilled chicken skewers . The German potato salad and the spaetzle are two of our favorite side dishes . I especially love to add their bucksnort gravy to the spaetzle. They have a pretty extensive beer list. Our main issue with this restaurant is the service is more times than not really slow. read more

I came to Harmony Inn with seven other friends without a reservation on a Sunday for an early dinner. We were seated upstairs in a private room that provided the coziness and privacy that our group loved. The entire inn has such a charming feel and old fashioned decorations. The outdoor bar also looked really cozy with the lighting and patio fire heaters. I ordered the Steak Spaetzle with a sidecare of the Swing Tang Side Salad. The salad came first and was absolutely delicious. The salad contained mixed greens, tomatoes, and red onion. The goat cheese in the salad balanced perfectly with the candied pecans and strawberries. It was topped with a vinaigrette dressing. I would definitely order this again. I ordered the steak in the Steak Spaetzle medium-rare, but the steak came as medium-rare on the first two slices and medium-well-done in the other slices. The steak otherwise was tender. The spaetzle (which is a kind of German noodle) was tasty. The noodles were perfectly chewy and creamy. While the sauce was supposed to be a cajun cream sauce, the sauce tasted more like an alfredo sauce with cracked black pepper. The dish was still good. For dessert, my friends and I split the Banana Xango and Blueberry Strudel. The Banana Xango came wrapped inside two fried pieces of puff pastry-like dough. This dessert was my favorite as the banana complemented the cheesecake and chocolate & caramel rum sauce. The Blueberry Strudel had a nicely crispy strudel outside. The blueberries inside were tiny and from their own farm, so they were delicious. Both desserts were topped with vanilla ice cream. Overall, the atmosphere and food quality make the Harmony Inn a place I would want to return to in the future. read more

Today was our second trip to the Harmony Inn. The first was on March 17, my birthday. The Harmony Inn hosts a huge St. Patrick's Day event and the place was crazy. Though the front of house was in chaos, we were seated and enjoyed our dinner. We decided to try again when there wasn't an event. Tonight was that "try again" evening. Easily made reservations and arrived exactly on time. Storms had passed through and the evening was beautiful so we elected to have dinner on the front porch. We were seated and waited. 10 minutes without a visit from anyone. I went to the front desk and asked if the hostess could send our server, she said yes. Another 5 minutes without anyone. I went back in and asked again. Again, someone would be right with us. Not happening. Very frustrated and about to leave I went back in. (Please understand, people were arriving, being seated and having drinks while we were waiting so it wasn't a staffing issue). Fortunately at that point I met Jennifer, our server. The evening improved. Drinks were ordered and delivered. Dinner orders taken and food showed up in a reasonable time. We enjoyed dinner though the Margherita Flatbread had no basil and lacked a bit in flavor. I wanted to send a note to the manager but, no email address on their website, so this will have to do. Bottom line: nice setting, great beer selection and good food but the front of the house is lacking in organization and that detracts from the experience. read more

Not my first time eating at the Inn. It possibly will be the last. Ordered Prime rib medium rare. I made my preference known I don't want the meat brown. Another person order Prime Rib also. Both came out brown and thin. We sent both meals back. We were told the whole Prime Rib got over cooked, so we ordered something else. The "rush" order took about 25 minutes. The hamburger I ordered was very good. Medium. The salmon the other person ordered did not come with the side one other person ordered at our table. Overall a not so great food experience. We sat on the patio. Unaware the bar that is on the patio within the dining seating, would be noisy and smokey. My Hubby moved to better hear at our table. Bare minimum, we should have been told there was smoking outside IN the seated dining area. The bar is within said dining area. What should have been a very pleasant dining experience was lacking at best. Whenever I have a less than pleasant dining experience I paid dearly for, I become more convinced my cooking and fresh Beef from the local butcher would be our better option. This place was suggested by a coworker. I met a her there at 9:30pm-super creepy on the way there, not many lights on the roads . Once I got there I could see why this place was normally busy-beautiful house like building, outside patio area, private parking lot. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the bartender Jason. We opted to sit at the bar. We ordered the pretzels as our appetizer-warm freshly made accompanied by delicious beer cheese and another Dijon mustard based sauce that was also delish. For our main courses, my coworker ordered a burger and fries and I decided to go with the "queen" prime rib and substituted my potatoes with hand cut fries. My prime rib was juicy, seasoned well, cooked just right and melted in my mouth with every bite. The fries? The best hand cut fries I've ever had and I consider myself a fry snob ‍! We also had two beers on tap. Jason was extremely funny, personable, and helped us choose what we wanted to eat. We had a great time there-the energy was definitely chill and inviting. Stopped in here late last night because we were in the area and heard about this place. Wow. What a great find! We ordered a few appetizers and drinks. They were so good that we can't wait to go back for dinner. The bar & patio area in the back looks like a great place to hang out and have a few drinks. There is a nice bar out there and heaters for when it gets cold. Loved the lights outdoors. Food looked great as other guests were ordering full dinners at 10pm. Yum!! Adorable old mansion turned into a restaurant. The food is delicious had fish n chips, pretzel, wings. All wonderfully prepared and super tasty. The wings are $2 each which is a little shocking but they are huge like 2 wings in one easily. Great service too. Cant wait to go back! read more

The two stars are for the friendly bartenders I had last night. One of them admitted they didn't know how to make my cocktail and although that's fair because it wasn't on the (TERRIBLE) cocktail menu, it is a very common drink. She nailed it! However... Our table was dirty, my husband and I waited a very long time for the check and my drink was a whopping $16. Wowwwww. I'm pretty sure the most I've ever paid for a Manhattan was maybe, $11-$12? In any case, I have learned my lesson. I do like the food and will be back for the ambiance, but I will stick with only coming here during the week and only ordering beer. p.s. Update that cocktail menu you guys! This isn't a seaside bar and it isn't summer anymore. No one wants an orange juice-tequila abomination. read more

I used to love this place but food wise it's gone downhill significantly. I ordered potato pancakes which were hash brown potatoes , loose and floppy. They bore no resemblance to a potato pancake. I asked that they replace them with fries. They brought out some cold and also floppy fries. The worst German Restaurant I ever ate in could make a potato pancake and 15 year olds at McDonalds can make fries. Time to step it up, guys. read more

This is a cool restaurant housed in an old house/hotel. They have a great outdoor patio and porch for dining outside. Their specialties include German dishes like spaetzle and schnitzel. They also have salads, sandwiches, etc. I had their chicken spaetzle which was delicious. My companion had the steak salad which was very good also. The service was a bit slow hence the 4 not 5 star rating. It's a great place to stop if you're in the area visiting the nature parks nearby. read more

My wife and I went to this restaurant this past Saturday night. We sat outside on the tented deck which was really nice. Great selection of north country beers and ciders. The service was a little slow but we were not in a rush. I had the sweet tang salad with the balsamic dressing which they ran out of but did not tell me. So the salad was pretty dry. My wife had the veggie burger which is not freshly made so it was disappointing. The waitress was polite and friendly. Great place to hang out on a nice weekend afternoon. read more

I thought maybe I had pulled up the wrong restaurant when I noticed all the 5-star reviews of the Harmony Inn. Perhaps we went on a bad night. There were 8 in our group and everyone's entrees ranged from "ok" at best, to "inedible" at worst. None of us were impressed at all, and all of us left much of the meal on our plates. We had several orders of potato pancakes to start, which were terrible. They were very thick and deep fried or something. For the entrees, I received the wrong meal entirely, and one member of our party got the Wiener Schnitzel which was so bad he couldn't even eat it. He took about 2 bites then told our waitress that it was just inedible. She did ask if he wanted something else, but seeing as no one was impressed so far, he declined. She left it on the bill which left an even worse taste in our mouths. I will definitely never come back here again. read more
