A friend of ours got the much coveted reservation here, and we were so excited to dig in! The restaurant is cozy, quaint, and European with the history on the walls. For food - we got pierogis and pepperoni and cheese balls. They were outstanding. You could tell the pierogis were scratch made, and they covered with so much delicious butter. Pepperoni and cheese ball is a misleading title - these were mini calzones, and they were scrumptious!! The dough was excellent, and they were packed with pepperoni and cheese. For my entree, I had the sea bass, which was a special. My fish was cooked to perfection and had a wonderful caper sauce! I really enjoyed the food and experience here. Get a gift card - that helps secure a reservation, as the restaurant said they are honoring gift cards through email as opposed to the phone system of getting a reservation. Just going to be honest -- is it worth spending a whole day calling for a reservation? Respectfully, no. If you can secure one, go - it's worth it. If you don't, there are many restaurants of similar or better quality with an easier way of getting a reservation. read more

It's a mystery as to how you are to get a reservation at this restaurant. We are at the beginning of April 2026 and according to the restaurant, they are booked through the end of December. How is that even possible? Do you have to know somebody to be able to get a table ? Extremely discouraging for my friend that tried for at least two days and all she got was a busy signal. I love this place. Food is great. The staff is casual and service is great. Cute restaurant. BUT trying to get a reservation is like thinking you will hit the Powerball. It's not going to happen. Today I tried to get 3 reservations for 3 special events coming up. Well over 600 attempts to get through. From just before 3pm to just after 7pm. It would be great to have an online system. So we can equally be disappointed. It was just after covid that I was able to get reservations. No luck since then. This is the only reason why my rating is low. read more

I never knew such an exclusive restaurant existed in Pittsburgh until I tried to make a reservation here. I honestly had an easier time making a reservation at a Michelin star restaurant than here. The restaurant is tucked away in a quiet country neighborhood and the interior is older and classic. Definitely a nice place for anniversaries. Let's jump to the food here. Our server was new and has a great, attentive attitude, the menu was very refined with a nice range of meats and seafood and had some very tempting items, but we went for the special and got veal and stuffed trout. Absolutely everything was delicious. The vegetables were tender, the lamb ball appetizer was so filling and the portions were huge. Many tables left with leftovers. As a holiday celebration, my best girlfriends and i decided to go to Clifford's. We've all gone separately, but wanted to go together. Instead of each getting a meal, we decided to split appetizers. We ordered pepperoni rolls, pierogis, stuffed peppers, gnocchi & the raclette. Everything was amazing- peppers were a little too hott for me (im a huge sissy w spice) but all the other ladies loved the heat. rogis were fresh- that noodle was just so good... and the pepperoni rolls- i cant believe it, but it was my favorite bite of the night!! No knock on pep rolls, but once again- Cliffords crushed it all. Everything was so tasty, and the service was just wonderful. This restaurant is such a nice place to go for an intimate celebration for a couple, or can be a lovely place to celebrate with a group! They're so accommodating to any situation. Our only *minor* complaint was that it was chilly in the dining room area, but we were in a small house in the woods- so I suppose its a given.. Wine helped with this issue!! A solid 5 stars. Wow. Wow. Wow. This place is a hidden gem. It has a multiple month wait and I can see why. It's tucked away in a rural area. Simply cute inside. The service? Grand. She didn't even write anything down and there were probably 20 people. Quick and accurate. Very kind and interacitve with guests. Allowed to BYOB. Provided wine glasses and buckets for the bottles. Went for a special dinner in a special day. You need to make reservations well in advance of your desired date if you have a specific date look to call 45-60 days prior. As the restaurant has limited seating. The we ordered where all specials of the night. All excellent. The birthday girl had some of the best lamb chops ever. First off, the restaurant has a great ambiance and the service was excellent. The reason I took two stars off is because if I am driving 45 mins and waiting six months for a reservation, I am expecting incredible food. Everything we had was mediocre and bland. No flavor or seasoning. Appetizers and sides are very heavy and portions are huge. For the price point, this was disappointing to say the least. On top of that, there was an intoxicated man harassing women in the parking lot and we were told that was the "clown of the family." It made our group of women feel pretty uncomfortable. read more

Much anticipated dinner at this highly recommended restaurant. When people say out it in your GPS, they aren't kidding. Although we don't live far away I wouldn't have found it without GPS. So many folks have raved about Cliffords and we were excited to try it. Love that it's BYOB, no corkage fee. Service was excellent. A bit pricey but we knew that going into dinner. We started with the raclette appetizer. It came recommended, it was okay, but not amazing. I had the chicken Romano which was very delicious. Nice salad with homemade dressing before. The bread and rolls were very good. Finished with pumpkin cheesecake. It was good, not amazing, but good. All said and done, the meal was good, we went with high expectations that weren't exceeded. read more

Another wonderful anniversary celebration at Clifford's! Nicole always welcomes you warmly and shares a list of specials that makes choosing your meal challenging - in a good way! Excellent service from Brandon from start to finish. Best wedding soup and the homemade cucumber vinaigrette is always a favorite. The chicken Romano was as delicious as always and one of the specials, the stuffed pork chop was tender and flavorful. The homemade rolls and pretzel bread are to die for. A cranberry pear cobbler was served with a lit candle to share for our anniversary. We always look forward to a meal that is not rushed, consistently top notch in both food and service. When you are ready for an outstanding and pricey dinner, this is where you want to go. The staff is ultra courteous, the ambiance is wonderful , and the choices on the menu are outrageous. Everything is made from scratch and the daily specials outnumbered the printed menu options. Everything from the initial basket of fresh bread, through the appetizers and entrees was so tasteful and fresh. It's BYOB so we brought 2 bottles of wine for 2 couples. No corking fee. The dining area noise is light, which allowed us to enjoy conversations as well as our food. It's located in a rural area so expect to wonder if your directions/gps is accurate on your first visit. I called for a reservation in Sept. and the recording states "they are booked until the end of the year" The last time we went here there were many open tables. I known this is family owned but they need to hire more help. I find it hard to believe they don't have any tables avail. 3 months in advance. We have decided to schedule are future events elsewhere. Clifford's is a hidden gem tucked away in the countryside of Butler County. Use your GPS or you'll never find it, but when you do you won't be disappointed. This Swiss family run "gourmet" restaurant has been in operation since 1991 & we've eaten there for special occasions about 6 times since 1998. Our most recent was for New Year's Eve. Clifford's is small, and it has a lot of regular customers & fills up quickly during the holidays so to get a reservation you must call about a month or more in advance. They don't take online reservations & you'll only reach someone during open hours as there seems to be no answering machine. DO have a reservation before making the drive. Once inside you are greeted by Valerie whose husband started the restaurant which is now run by their son Jesse & his wife, Nicole. Jesse is the chef and he will personally and I do mean personally, prepare anything exactly to your liking. In fact Clifford's standard menu often doesn't get ordered from due to the fact that each night there are about 10 specials that are rattled off tableside by the hostess. You can make substitutions, additions & special requests unlike most restaurants & if Jesse can accommodate you he will. For example, my brother-in-law wanted the Chilean sea bass, but didn't want it broiled or grilled so asked if it could be poached. Sure it can. He also didn't like the 2 sauce choices & Jesse made him a dill sauce upon request. It was the biggest piece of Chilean sea bass I ever saw & my brother in law said it melted in his mouth. My husband had the veal Marsala, my sister in law and I had filet and we shared the lamb meatball appetizer with polenta. They also make fantastic French onion soup, which I partook of and they make fabulous raspberry cobbler which they surprised my sister in law with for her birthday. Their rolls, breads & pretzel rolls are homemade and when the rolls come hot from the oven with their butter I guarantee you'll want to ask for more to take home & they're happy to oblige. And the best part? Clifford's is BYOB with no corkage fee. Their food & Family hospitality is well worth the drive into the Evan's City countryside. As of New Year's Eve they were already almost full for Valentine's Day reservations & already taking Easter reservations! read more

My wife and I have eaten here every year for 9 years for our anniversary and sometimes on random occasions. It is probably the best kept secret in Evans City. The food and service is amazing. I've had some of the best food I've ever eaten here. The crab cakes are the best I've had anywhere. And I've been around New England, and along the Eastern Coast numerous times. If crab isn't your thing, and you have more basic tastes, the pepperoni roll appetizer is basically a homemade pizza in a roll. Delicious! I love salads, and theirs doesn't disappoint. Fresh greens, and all homemade dressings. The cucumber vinaigrette is the best dressing I've ever had. I wish I could buy it! If that wasn't enough to get you started, they serve all homemade bread (3 different kinds) throughout the meal! And as an added bonus, if you enjoy wine with your meal, there's no cork fee! Now onto the entrees... wow. They ALWAYS have a long list of specials from land and sea. No matter your preference; there's something for everyone. Their regular menu is more than ample so there is plenty to choose from if you don't like the specials; bass, filet, lamb, veal, crab, and on and on. It's amazing how everything is fresh and prepared perfectly. With how diverse their specials are, they have an amazing chef! Now onto desserts... if you can manage to get a bite or two in after appetizers and the main course, soup/salad, and bread, then you're in for a treat! Pun intended. They serve a variety of desserts that is always changing. Cobblers are a regular feature, but made with seasonal fruits. They serve cakes and pies too but again, they're always different. This past weekend we enjoyed chocolate layer cake and peanut butter pie. Both were awesome! Last but certainly not least; the service from their wait staff is ALWAYS great! Everyone is very personable and attentive. I'll also say, the ambiance is perfect. I feel like I'm at a older family member's house. It's a nice well appointed place, but not stuffy or extravagant. I like that it's not trendy or modern. I will warn you, it is a pricy experience if you order everything I've outlined above. I, however, find the cost well worth the experience! Also, fair warning: don't come here if you expect to be in and out in 40 minutes. This isn't a chain or some place trying to serve as many people as possible. Dinner here for 2, having all the courses mentioned above, takes about 2 hours. Our last dinner here with 4 people took a little over 3 hours but we also had wine/beer with our meal. Lastly, in terms of things to consider; you can't walk-in: reservations need to be made well in advance! This place is so good it books up fast every month! You may have heard the adage "fine dining experience"... well, that's EXACTLY what Clifford's is! We'll keep coming back! read more

Don't let your husband convince you he knows where it is!! The place is structured like a home, bigger than we expected, with neat decor. High ceilings, quiet, comfortable. Our service was good. There were two women who waited on us, they really knew the menu and seemed knowledgeable. I will tell you that the menu is NOT all they have to offer so ordering can be a bit overwhelming. Now to the good stuff! This place is a BYOB with no cork fee! Some people had wine, whiskey, or beer at their tables. First they start you with bread...and then even more bread comes! It's hard to stop yourself because there's a variety and it's delicious! (I'm a sucker for room temp butter). Our Apps included: crab cakes, you get 3 and they are wonderful, more like a lump crab ball. Mussels, the broth was rich and probably our favorite part of the meal. My husband ordered French onion soup. It was good, a little different broth but nicely unique. We both ordered salads with beet vinaigrette and it blew us away. We're already trying to figure out how to duplicate it! Onto our main meals, I had the filet with scalloped potatoes and carrots/cauliflower. It was slightly over cooked to my liking, not the absolute best I've ever had, but good and the portion size was very large for a filet. Scalloped potatoes are to die for. My husband tried the duck and really liked it. I do warn you, duck is not for everyone so if you order and find yourself not liking it, it may be that you just don't like duck! It's ok... I don't either! It was our anniversary and so they brought us out a little piece of carrot cake after our meals, which I would never think to order, but it was really good. Sweet, but good. Finally.....yes we continued to eat, lol, we ended the meal with crème brûlée. The top layer was thick, you have to jab at it to break through and it was also very good. Again a bit on the sweet side, but that's what desserts are all about! Everything was timed out perfectly with room to breath, relax, and enjoy one thing at a time. Going out for dinner on a holiday can be a big mistake. We made reservations for Mother's Day on the first day reservations were available. It is BYOB. Everyone had wine or beer and a cooler/wine sleeve. Our meal was excellent. Skip the first bread served and save the carbs for the hot out of the oven swirl biscuits. The French onion soup had a surplus of melted cheese with an original flavor. Definitely could have made a meal on just soup & bread. We had salads with raspberry and walnut & cucumber vinaigrettes. Delicious. For dinner we had huge portions of pork loin, veal picata & grilled salmon. The pork was so tender a knife wasn't necessary. The salmon was perfectly cooked and the skin just fell off. The veal was flavorful. For dessert, raspberry cobbler, peach cobbler, and almond torte were takeouts. Only recommendation to the restaurant, my one guest is hearing impaired and didn't hear any of the specials that the hostess shared with us. A paper version would be helpful. The hostess told us their CHEF (note singular) was serving 100 meals today. Excellent meal. read more
