We have eaten at Harmons a few times. The food is OK, when it is available. . Tried ordering 2 plate dinners online. When I got to the "pay" portion, I received a message saying some of the items I had in my cart were not available at this location. I attempted to change the order, but it emptied my cart. I had nothing in there. I called them and asked what exactly they were out of and was told that they were out of turkey and brisket. I again attempted to place another order making sure I did not reorder these 2 items, and got the same error message, and again my cart was empty. We gave up. This is Texas. Barbecue is our lifeblood. That being said, this is certainly the best barbecue in the area and in my opinion, it should be in contention for one of the better barbecue places in Texas. Everyone has heard of Franklins, but this place has more flavor and better sides. I'll be honest and admit that I've only had franklin's once. But the brisket was dry, Harmon's never is. Their chip meat sandwich is a great go to. The split chicken is amazing, Smokey flavor without drying out the meat. The barbecue sauce is wonderful, it's Spivey, flavorful, and savory all in one. The smoke can be smelled from the parking lot. And let's be honest, the fact you don't have to sit in line at 6AM to get a plate is a huge boost. Show up when you want, enjoy good food, go home. One of the few but increasing number of restaurants in "downtown Cibolo." It has a good reputation, but while trying to be funky, it ends up being slightly trashy. This is not a destination restaurant, but more for local folks who don't want to drive far to get some decent BBQ. Very difficult to order, after entering, there is a little tight aisle to the far left with a very hard menu to read, a white board leaning against the wall supported by something, with a scribbled menu with one of those blue felt pens. Ordering is not easy or a pleasant either. You pay upon ordering at the window, asking for your tip up front. We just told them we will leave it at the table. Texas has good BBQ; Harmon's is no better or worse than all the other BBQ joints in Texas. However, there prices are very reasonable. No complaints there. Even the BBQ "pit" outside looks cluttered. As you pull in on the left side to park, it will be sitting on the back left corner of the lot. Walking in, the old gas pump doesn't add any ambience to anything. The lighting is dark and dreary. No background music. You get the feeling that nothing is "kept up." (The place is clean, just cluttered.) "Downtown Cibolo" has the potential to become a destination attraction the same as Gruen, Texas, or even better. However, they have to spiffy up the small area of "Downtown Cibolo." Wow!! What a find. Well worth the short drive to get to it. The smoked turkey and brisket are out of this world. Family owned and operated with plenty of indoor seating and some tables out front for sidewalk eating and watching the very small town action. We went three times over the 4 days we were in town. Pretty impressive.... Older part of town just outside of San Antonio... I ordered the sampler plate because I wanted to try everything since this place is not close to my home. I sat in my car and started to eat the varieties of meats, and it was very very delicious. They also gave me a side of barbecue sauce, which looks like it was homemade. It was a great flavoring. I decided to go back in and get two more sampler plates to take home to Houston. My family was super excited and enjoyed their food. Also got a side of color greens which they enjoyed it very much. On a more serious note, It's so dang good the bank is forcing me to put my house up as collateral until I get my finances & my harmons bbq addiction under control. We were looking for good barbecue, and found it, it smells amazing when you arrive . The smoker was smoking away in the parking lot , tended by a very pleasant gentleman. We walked in , the place is filled with plenty of memorabilia and there are two areas for seating. We were planning on takeout. The board had plenty of options , we made our decisions and ordered, it was not super speedy . We had ordered ; brisket , pork and sausage. For our sides ; potato salad and coleslaw, extra barbecue sauce, pickles and onions . And two peach cobbler desserts. The brisket was tender , fall apart and full of flavor, a great smoke ring. The sausage had good flavor and not spicy . The pork was also tender with wonderful flavor. As with typical Texas barbecue, it came with sliced white bread. The barbecue sauce was perfect , not full of vinegar. The coleslaw was super creamy , the potato salad was ok , not to my liking but good. The peach cobbler was a bust ; it had a very artificial taste. When we are back in Texas , we will definitely go back . read more

We were told about this BBQ place in Cibolo a year ago or so. I'm just now writing a review. Harmon's is a family owned and run place. In my opinion, it is THE best BBQ restaurant in this part of Texas. Of course their plates are huge (we are in Texas after all). I've never had a bad meal there, and I've had a wide variation of them. I love the chopped beef sandwich and the BBQ chicken is to die for. The restaurant is quirky yet comfortable. This place has really good barbecue. If you are the type of person who doesn't need a good side at a BBQ place to appreciate it, this is a fantastic option. I'd get a pound of the brisket and chicken, just because it was that good. Where they fall off is the sides. Their sides are, to put bluntly, bad. Not one person at my table of 8 liked their sides. The service was also a little strange, it's a numbering system where they call out the number when it's ready, but the people calling out the numbers were facing in a direction where their voice projected out to areas where no customers were. My local BBQ joint closed during COVID and its 20 minute drive to my other favorite location so I've been on the search for one closer to home. Harmon's was great. Staff was friendly and helpful. I got a two plate combo with brisket, sausage, potatoe salad, blackberry cobbler, and pinto beans. The brisket was excellent! Nice smoke ring, good layer fat to meat ratio. Sausage wasn't cheese and jalapeño but was still really good. Nice smoke flavor in the sausage. Pinto beans had brisket pieces in it nice flavor. Could have used a bit more brisket in them but overall good. Now I'm a potato salad snob as I am particular about my potato salad and theirs just wasn't for me. Harmon's is absolutely delicious! If you like spicy I recommend their jalapeño cheddar sausage. My husband always gets the combo sandwich which has chopped brisket and sausage with onions and pickles. I'm a huge fan of the bbq stuffed baked potato. The potato is so big you could easily eat on it twice. Creamed corn is also pretty good. Highly recommend this place if you're ever in or around the Schertz/Cibolo area. read more

I've tried a few times to call an order in for pick up or curbside. I get the vibe that they could care less that I want to give them money. Today, after trying to call 9 times with a busy signal, I got thru to be put on hold for almost 2 minutes. And then when they picked back up, they thought I was someone else they'd talked to. I explained I was trying to place a curbside order but after speaking to the person, I was quickly changing my mind. I ended up saying no thanks. Excellent beef bbq. I had a brisket and sausage plate with potato salad and coleslaw as sides. Coming from the pork side of the beef/pork divide, it's nice to get some true Texas beef 'que. After we ate, I went out to the pit and talked to the owner/pit master, Ray Harmon. He showed me the smoker and a bunch of chickens and briskets that were cooking/smoking for tomorrow. Very good brisket...a nice change from the other barbecue places I go to. I got the brisket plate which comes with 2 sides. I got the potato salad and creamed corn, both were good. You also get a good amount of brisket for what you pay which is $9.75 or so. I'll have to come back and try their other meats, sides and desserts. read more

I was in town for an estate sale and was lured in for lunch by the awesome aromas coming from this joint. got a sausage sammy - lot of bread, but the hoagie was soft. ended up eating it more open face. sausage was flavorful and moist with just the right amount of "grease" factor. tried the peach cobbler - I like a LOT of crust, but this portion was way too crust-y, hardly any peaches and pretty dry. maybe just a bad dip of the spoon. service was fast and very friendly. read more

The food is so delicious! Definitely try the frito pie!! My son, who is extremely picky about Mac n cheese loved the brisket Mac. We met some friends who were visiting from our hometown in Hawaii at Harmons. For some reason, we thought they closed at midnight. We ate, talked, laughed, and had such a good time! Upon asking what time they closed, we sadly discovered that they were to close at 8, just 15 minutes more to enjoy the company of our friends we hadn't seen in years. The staff were so gracious, they told us to just enjoy our night and once they really needed us to leave they'd let us know. We didnt stay long, but that's the kind of Aloha we show back home, and it was so pleasant to have that extended to us at Harmons!! Harmons will be our go to BBQ spot for as long as we're lucky to live in Cibolo! read more
