Nice place been there before. Nothing crazy about the decor. Not a place where we are telling ourselves we HAVE to go there. It was disappointing this time. Ordered at the kiosk. Nothing special, one meat plate with two sides(sausage and Mac and cheese and beans). I ordered the special sandwich brisket debris as is from the menu. With a side of coleslaw. I think we paid WAY too much for what we got. It wasn't amazing. We ordered at 7:25 and we had to wait a while for a standard meal. At like 7:40 my husband came up with the food. But we were missing the side of coleslaw. So I had to go back to get it. The drink station was meh. The strawberry lemonade was out the entire time we were there. The drink station upstairs was missing napkins. The employees just didn't really seem they could be bothered. read more

I've always wanted to try this place out every time we walked into H-E-B. So finally when we had time and were hungry we decided to try this place out. Of course I was a little hesitant, since it is inside a shopping center, but it ended up being good. Once stepping inside you have a sports bar vibe. The menu is behind the register and the staff helps with decisions. I ended up getting the three meat plate (Pork ribs, brisket, and turkey) with beans & cornbread. My girlfriend ordered the two meat plate (sausage & brisket) with cream corn & potato salad. We also ordered drinks, which the variety of teas were amazing! The food was overall good, and the overall experience was decent, we will most likely be back again when the opportunity presents itself. read more

HEB never ceases to amaze me. It seems whatever they put their heart into, they are going to excel at. They don't do anything without doing their research and making sure they have the best quality. I wish there was an HEB near me. Come on HEB.....Las Vegas needs you. So...not a McD's or a Subway or some other sub par fast food joint where even the service is hit and miss. True Texas BBQ is legit and their service is equally Texas friendly. Every time I've ordered, they are always patient and helpful. The food is priced pretty good. I mean, it's mid range in price and you get a good amount. If you sign up for their texts, you will get great coupons of certain foods every month. We typically get a combo of fatty and lean brisket. Both are moist and delicious but when the crispy edges with the layer of fat hit the smokey meaty part of the brisket, you get the perfect bite. I was skeptical of the turkey but pleasantly surprised. It was Smokey, tender, and juicy. Sausage is great too! It's hard to go wrong with Texas sausages though. The Mac and cheese is delicious. When your sides taste like homecoming, that's such a win! The brisket pinto beans have pieces of brisket in it. They aren't skimpy either. Of course we love the pickles, onions, and bread to go with our bbq. They have a variety of BBQ sauces for every palate. It's kind of fun to try them all to see what everyone likes the best. I'm an original or a spicy kind of gal myself. All the teas and the ice nuggets are awesome! Perfectly brewed! It is an art as I've seen so many people make teas bitter. Great job True Texas BBQ! This location is even more fun with a see through elevator to take you to a second floor for more seating. True Texas BBQ is inside an HEB in New Braunfels. It sounds weird to me, but I was willing to give it a shot as I had read it was pretty good. Half of the parking lot is under construction, so it was a bit painful to get a parking spot. As you walk in, you can tell how massive the HEB is, but True Texas BBQ is right at the entrance. We ordered two 3-meat plates with brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and chicken for our meat, cornbread, mac and cheese, collard greens, and creamed corn for our sides. For how much food you get, it was worth the price. However, some of the meat seemed a bit dry. read more

If you absolutely love beef fat, then this is the place for you. Try the Jefe sandwich. You will get 1/2 pound of delicious smoked cow fat topped with jerky sausage with no flavor and then they smother it in cabbage water. I could not believe how lucky I was to find a restaurant that does not hold back on portion control of trash food. I had so much fat on my sandwich I thought I won a contest. Good job HEB. Ordered food at 5:34 and picked a 6 pm time. Sign at pick up is 20 minutes or less. Others got theirs before me that arrived after me. They don't tell you anything. 17 minutes after pick up they come tell me they ran out of one of my times and do I want something else with attitude. Another 15 minutes go by and finally get food. I asked why it took 1 hr for my food. They don't answer why it took so long. And dismiss me. First time trying it and it will be my last. Such a horrible experience.
