Re-stating the positives is a mute point. If you have a project to do and need low cost tools for a quick job type thing..not a day to day long lasting quality product..then you should buy it here. Most stuff I buy; I usually only have a solitary use for maybe once or twice a year, so the price fits the use need...so it works for me..saves me from ordering online and waiting for shipping. But definitely read the reviews on their website from users when it comes to anything that plugs in or is substantial, to steer you away from certain brand names in the store. I love tools... but only tools that are actually built to last. 90% of the items in Harbor Freight Tools are made in China (the rest come from India, etc). While looking at adjustable wrenches, I noticed that every single one in the bin was already broken (wouldn't adjust). Yikes. read more

Lots of room between aisles check out was quick, friendly staff. Easy to find things. Parking is shared with the rest of the plaza. read more

Home Depot used to be my go to supply store but since discovering this place, I prefer to go to Harbor Freight Tools. Ive always known this place was here but never thought of coming here until my dad took me. He is subscribed to their mailing list and they have some really good deals including many coupons/ sometimes something for free. Since then I've been coming here to quickly grab tools or materials for my diy projects. It is much more convenient that driving twice as far to the Home Depot I used to go to. I came to the store to buy a certain item after finding it on display grabbed the item and walked to check out as I walked to the front an employee took the item out of my hands and said they couldn't sell me that item cause it was the display. The customer service at this store was almost non-existent. After calling another location, I was told that the loading ramp I needed was in stock at the Torrance store. I looked at the display and had questions about how to secure the ramp to my truck. I asked a male employee who was sitting in a chair at the front of the store if he could help. He told me that it probably needed a ratchet strap to secure the ramp. I located a strap in the store and asked the employee who was still sitting in the chair how the strap should be applied to the ramp. Without looking at me, he replied "I have no idea." I'm not going to get into the quality issues with the stuff they sell here; we all know it's cheap, Chinese junk for the most part. However, as I'm not a pro in any sense of the word, the tools and other helpful devices they sell can get me through a job just fine. I like to restore old camper trailers and mini bikes and the pneumatic tools work reasonably well until they don't. I rarely bother returning things as the time and gas to get there don't really justify it so I simply throw broken items away and replace them when I have a good enough reason to make the trek south from Venice. I'm actually posting this to praise a worker named Tasha (I think that was her name, anyway). I was looking for a hot knife with which to cut foam insulation and they had one on their website for 15 bucks. It showed as being in stock at this location so I made the drive and, of course, they didn't have it. I asked the manager if I could buy the demo unit and was flatly refused. Tasha stepped in and went rummaging around in the back and then called around to some other stores, none of whom had it. She then went and convinced the rude manager to sell me the demo and I left reasonably happy. Customer service was pretty good, however, number of staff on the sales floor was pretty low so I had hard time asking questions about what I was looking for, a cordless drill. They only had one cashier and one sales person. A manager was in the office by registers but not on the floor most of the time. They have reasonable pricing though, comparing other major hardware store, but if you're looking for any major brands, this may not be the place. However the drill I got works just as great as the other major brand one I had before! read more

I am glad they opened a new store closer to my home. It still is about 15 min, but that's a lot better than 30. This place has some pretty good prices. This place has the tools to get a wide variety of jobs done. I've been trying to do more of my own car maintenance lately, and Harbor Freight has come through on several occasions. I got an offset O2 sensor socket here for $5! they have great deals, that is undeniable. Also great deals on metric impact sockets, like I said everything you need; including air tools. Just be cautious about buying some of their bigger items like floor jacks and jack stands. I've heard allegedly that their signature "Pittsburgh" brand being re-branded low grade Chinese products. I was quite comfortable shopping here. Only draw back is as long as your traveling North, South, or East to get here it is no problem. Seems a little weird to be writing a review for a place that sells tools, being that I don't have the greatest knowledge about these types of things, but my boyfriend and I browsed here yesterday and I had to write a review. We were surprised by the amount of stuff they have here! Yeah, its not all the greatest of quality, but lower prices usually mean lower quality and that's something you just have to accept. We spent a while shopping around and ended up buying a few things. The thing I like most about this place is that they always have a LOT of coupons! Check those throwaway ads you get in the mail, or the coupons in the Sunday LA Times - I found about three different Harbor Freight Tool ads and scored a free measuring tape with my purchase! (Hey, free is free, okay?) So keep an eye out for those and you might be able to get something good! Didn't have any issues with service at this place, in comparison to some other reviews. But then again, I only bought two small things and never interacted with the manager. So our experience was fine. read more

I actually try to like Harbor Freight but every time I go in there there seems to be a problem. Either the coupon that says 20% off everything is an off everything or they miss represent their club card and say you don't need coupons and then you buy something and they don't give you the discount because you didn't say you wanted the discount. Either way it's always been a frustrating experience and I try to stay away from the place if it all possible. It's much easier just to go to Home Depot as I don't feel I'm getting ripped off and there's no club to join. At Harbor freight I always feel like I'll never get the deal I thought I should get. I shop at Harbor Freight quite a bit. I know their tools are low quality but I find that they are suitable for most of things I do. I don't buy high impact tools like sockets and wrenches there because they don't last. With that said I find the employees at this store to be very unfriendly and not eager to help. They really radiate the "I hate my job" attitude. Have not experienced that at any other stores. Won't be going back to this one. read more

I like Harbor Freight. So many tools here. They accepted our coupons which included 20% off on a purchase and I also got a cheap free flash light with another coupon. Things I would like from here: -20+ gallon verticle lubricated Air Compressor -Heavy duty Impact Wrench -1/4 inch Breaker bar (cause real people don't use a damn pipe to get over torqued nuts off) -Powder coating kit. (Make your parts look blingy) -air polisher/sander -Above ground car hoist (never mind too much money and the garage doesn't have clearance and they don't sell those here) Oh, need a new easy up. Great to find cheap priced tools. Although some are what you pay for (some break), they do the job. I come here (and the other one on PCH) when I need some simple tools for certain projects. I think the prices match the product. It's not a craftsman and don't expect it to last or have the warranty of one. If you really want to put money into a tool that lasts long, buy a Craftsman. If you're in need of simple projects and don't want to spend much on tools/machines/equipment, come here. I'll always be going to shop--will be there again today to get a table saw! read more

I always like to give things/people the benefit of the doubt however this happened twice when visiting this store location. Yes employees were all wearing masks and social distancing, but I was not greeted at the entrance when walking in. I was not asked if I needed help or finding what I was looking for. When i asked both times about the items I was looking for I was pointed to a number aisle. I am looking for a particular screw. No help was offered. These employees do not look like they were customer service friendly. The first time I ever entered Harbor freight Tools my very first time ever I walked in and was not greeted. Then I walked every aisle to search for sand paper. As I was looking I noticed all the employees rushed to one customer walking and said to him that he was not allowed in the store & that he knew he wasn't. The manager that is working tonight May 7th at 5pm was extremely rude and not helpful. Rude to his employees in front of customers ... I went in to get an upgrade on a generator I had purchased not 24 hours before because it was not strong enough, they did not have in stock. Employee that was helping me asked manager in front of me what he should do, and manager replied " that guy can do whatever wants" in sarcastic manner. Not looking at me once. After i decided to get a refund, they charged me a restocking fee of 20%. Never again go to this cheap place. Was in Harbor fright today and was very angry with the way I was treated. Six people in line with the customer at the register is trying to return something. He has a recite and the cashier is doing her job. She calls for assistance and in about 2 minutes two guys walk up very slow and talking about something. Any ways they both log on and the first guy asks " next in line". The guy in front of me goes over and the cashier is dealing with another return. So I go over behind the other guy. The second cashier is done telling his story to the first and looks at me and then stretches his neck and looks around me and ask the guy walking up to get checked out. I would think maybe I was invisible, but he had to make an effort to look around me. Come on, I am not saying that I am more important customer than the next, but I really felt that I was not worth as much as the other. Everyone was gone by the time I was checked out. read more

I have to agree with some of the reviewer who give one start for this store. The manager is really rude, to a point that made you really unwelcome here. Bought a hydraulic press at this store. The press comes with 3 boxes, and the hydraulic jack is in one of the box. When I took the press home and found out the hydraulic jack is defective and went to try to exchange for a good one. the rude manager told me that he want me to bring the whole thing back instead of exchange the just the jack for me. DO NOT SHOP HERE! Purchased a plumbing snake and was informed by a store clerk that should I bring it back, there would be a 10% re-stocking fee. Later discovered that the snake was too large for residential plumbing and returned it a few hours later. While in the process of returning the item, the store manager rudely came by and appeared irritated that I was returning the snake then abruptly said there's a 20% re-stocking fee. I questioned him why the fee doubled since my purchase in the morning and he refused to answer merely stating that it was store policy. He refused to produce any "policy" and walked away. What's not OK is that despite that they have your phone number and an account with your name, they will not do a return unless you bring the receipt. If you understand what this place is and what it's for, you'll be a fan. Generally speaking, these are not high end tools. But if you need a special tool for a special job and GOOD tools or renting are too expensive, you can usually come to HF and buy something serviceable on the cheap. They DO have a 90-day return policy so if you buy something for a job and it fails, well you can at least get your money back. And while while most of their cheap power tools are notoriously crappy, I've heard many an endorsement of their higher-end power tools (though at that price point you may as well invest in a better manufacturer at a big box store). However, if you're just starting out in DIY as a hobby or just making a 1-time project, these tools can be terrific. Screwdrivers, hammers, pliers, wrenches, clamps, measuring devices, etc are cheap as can be and usually hold up to moderate use. Some just snap now and then, but at their price point, it's an assumed risk. Harbor Freight is truly a candy store for the hobbyist & the broke. It's a good place to experiment and see if your interest justifies bigger money on better tools. For what it is, it's wonderful. read more

The cashier Yesenia was very rude. Never coming here again. The tools they have here are garbage I wouldn't buy them here if you work on cars and motorcycles. In general I must say "Thank G-d for Harbor Freight Tools" (HFT), the whole chain. Prior to discovering HFT some 20 years ago, I was doing a lot of construction work on 2 different homes. Very poor then, I only really knew about buying tools at Sears. Granted Craftsman tools are great, but I felt like I was being raped every time I bought a tool. $200 for a small portable table saw. A few years later I discovered that a comparable table saw at HFT was about $50. The equivalent of a $200 DeWalt power drill/screwdriver can be purchased at HFT for about $20. That's a 10X savings! Granted the quality of the Chinese-made tools at Harbor Freight doesn't hold a candle to that of Craftsman, Snap-on, DeWalt, or any other American-made tools. But for the enormous savings, I'll take the Chinese stuff any day. In addition, HFT offers a very nice return policy, so any defects (which there are many, and the peeps running the show at HFT obviously know that) can be returned within 90 days, no questions asked with a receipt. On the subject of returns, this of course becomes the main benchmark for any HFT location. All stores and employees can of course sell us stuff. Since the defect rate of the Chinese-made HFT tools is quite high, the question becomes- How much grief will we customers get when we go to return an item? I must say that I've been shopping at this Torrance location since the day it opened, about 3 years ago. Some of the 1st items I bought there were two Bar Clamps (item# 69222). Cool, cheap clamps, but not exactly the highest of quality. 1 of the 2 clamps failed the 1st time I went to use it (the adjustable end piece wouldn't lock on the bar). No problem I thought, it's only been a week, I'll exchange it the next time I'm in Torrance. Then, OMG! I can't believe that I'm getting grief over exchanging this $2 clamp! I threw out my receipt since it was only a $2 item. And who would have thought that this simple clamp would fail? But the register people are giving me grief, as I have no receipt. I ask to speak to a Manager. I tell the Clerks- "I've been shopping at HFT for almost 20 years! I've spent thousands of dollars with your company! This is a $2 item!". Two managers proceed to tell me "no receipt no return". This is 1 week after the store's grand opening! Obviously some of the stuffed-shirt types at HFT (Regional Managers and such) told the new Managers of this store- "take a hard-line stand on returns"). Fine. I go to my car to ponder my strategy (I AM going to return this POS clamp one way or another. Do I have to go to another location? Do I have to buy a new one to get another receipt?). At that point I glance at the HFT flyer on my dashboard and see the HFT motto in big bold letters- "LIFETIME WARRANTY ON ALL HAND TOOLS". OMG, I realize- Clamps ARE Hand tools! I then have flashbacks to the NUMEROUS times I've returned cracked sockets, broken ratchets, breaker bars, chipped screwdrivers, etc etc etc at HFT over the years. Many times with no receipt. (for small, cheap items). So I confidently march back into the store, broken $2 clamp in hand! And what do I notice? I BIG hanging sign that says "LIFETIME WARRANTY ON ALL HAND TOOLS". Ok this is silly now. I go to the register, I point to the big sign, I say "This is a hand tool, It has a lifetime warranty. it's defective. I'd simply like to exchange it". After a conference between the Clerk and a Manager or two, they semi-begrudgingly exchange my $2 clamp. Success at last. Yippie!!! So this review basically goes out to the stuffed-shirt types (Executives running the show) at HFT. Look at all I just wrote. I've spent 2 hours just writing this review. Look at all the negativity generated by this bizarre experience, that could have and SHOULD HAVE been a quick, POSITIVE experience. Moving on, in the subsequent 3 years or so I've bought countless more items at this Harbor Freight location. A few weeks ago I bought an Automotive Code Reader ($70). Due to a number of reasons (too lengthy for this review) I decided to return it. WITH receipt. WITHIN 90 days. NEVER USED. I'm shocked when told by the Clerk that there's a 20% restocking fee on this item. (That is indeed printed on my receipt, as pointed out by the Clerk, but I had never noticed it before, and it wasn't told to me at the time of purchase). 20 years of shopping at HFT and I've NEVER seen or heard of this 20% restocking fee before. Apparently they've implemented a new policy on some items (mainly electrical I'm guessing). This is COMPLETELY understandable, as we all know that people LOVE to buy things, use them, then return them. But MAJOR KUDOS to CYNTHIA, the coolest, bestest, employee ever at HFT! After listening to my story of woe as to why I bought this tool, where I bought it (a different HFT location), and how they sold it to me, she decided to waive the restocking fee without me having to raise a big ruckus. I can't say enough good about this store, as opposed to other Harbor Freight stores and competitive hardware stores. I made many purchases last year for charitable giving. When some of those items disappeared one day, I went into the store with receipts for replacements. To my surprise and delight, manager Thom kicked in some of his own to add to the gift bag.
