This is the worst harbor freight in the area. Employees are literally no help and always have a bad attitude. You are better off going to other locations. Specially the I glewood location. Those guys there are all great. Even the manager is down to earth and friendly. He doesn't mind getting into it and helping out customers with their needs. We bought an extreme duty tarp to protect our property, but it was Not worth buying at all! This was supposed to be a thick, extreme duty tarp, but after being up only 6 months it has ripped to shreds. After speaking with the manager, I was told they only will warranty this for 90 days. Ridiculous! How will you know how a tarp performs until it goes through a year of weather? Yes I have the receipt. I'm very disappointed that this company will not take responsibility for the shoddy workmanship of this tarp. We work very hard for our money, and this was such a waste of money and time trying to put it up. do yourself a favor and do not buy these extreme duty tarps. This place has tools for a very affordable price. However I believe you get what you pay for lot of this stuff is from China. It isn't nearly as big as Home Depot but it's more specialized. This is more of a help yourself type of store it's best to know exactly what you're looking for and the aisles are organized in a way where you can figure out what you need. Mostly men shopping in this store. Lots of people who look like they work as contractors or DIY dads. Sometimes the line is long because they don't have enough registers open. During the high wind fire fiasco, I had to find my brother, who live in Jarupa Valley a generator. I fortunate to have reached out via phone call and the gals that answered were all very friendly and extremely helpful. I've never purchased a generator and on this day I purchased 2, just in case I may have needed one. The price was very reasonable and the customer service was top tier. I did have to go back a few days later, as one of the 5 gallon gas tanks I purchased was missing the cap. The gentleman that assisted me was super nice and took care of the situation. He also reassured me that if I do choose to return the one I purchased (unopened) I could return it for a full refund. I finally got around to returning it today and I gotta say Alexander is amazing. If you're looking for inexpensive tools, this is the place for you. You'll find power tools, hand tools, storage items, generators, tree trimmers and other lawn items, etc. I don't believe the items are of the highest quality, and are probably mass-produced in China. Unlike tools that can be passed down to the next generation, these are more likely to be discarded when no longer useful. They have coupons which bring the prices down even further. There's even coupons for free items with any purchase. I once had a coupon for free no-name AAA and AA batteries, which worked perfectly but without the lifespan of Duracell or Kirkland brands. I've been here a handful of times with my husband, always with a coupon in hand. This is a great tool store! They have tools for all the trades including both construction and automotive! If you need to fix it or build it they have what you need. But keep in mind it is not really a hardware store, you're not going to find lumber, pipes or carburetors here! These are not the highest quality tools but they are a good bargain for what you get. The store is very clean and well-lit so it's easy to find what you need. It's not huge so browsing around is pretty quick considering the huge variety of tools and accessories they have. Everyone loves Harbor Freight (HF) except one: Home Depot. Because HF sells the same stuff HD does for 1/2 to 1/3 less! I stopped in here a few weeks ago to purchase professional moving/storage supplies. They have some nice stuff, better than HD and a lot less in cost especially if you give them coupons they publish regularly. 20% off some things, 30% off other things, they also honored their coupon for a free magnetic light which works well. Nice employees, shopping carts. A giant Tarp selection, Different types and sizes of moving/box storage dollies. If HF has what you need--you are golden and will be wondering what you are going to do with all the money you save over HD. I would just stop in and check them out and see what they have. read more

YELP 100 CHALLENGE 2018 - 30/100. I've driven by this place so many times and I know tons of people who come through here to shop for their specific specialty as well as take advantage of their discounted and/or free offers. The time came for me to finally make a stop. Family outside of these United States made a request for some items I was sure Harbor Freight had. Lots and lotsa parking. I walked in and immediately felt like I was in tool heaven. (And I promise you, I wouldn't know how to use about 95% of the items being sold there.) I would find it hard to believe that architects and engineers and construction workers wouldn't find the most basic items they would need for whatever their projects may be. I had a hard time finding the items I needed, so I asked for assistance. I was told they would be located at the warehouse located at the side of the store. So, there I went. Only to be told I wasn't allowed in there. Well, that posed a problem because the items I needed weren't available outside of the warehouse and I needed to get an idea how big and heavy these things are for shipping purposes. But other than the cashiers (they were busy, so I didn't wanna bother them) there was no one else around to ask for assistance. So, I came back out and walked around some more. I found one item fambam was interested in and got the measurements for that, at least. It isn't the kind of store I normally find myself in, but if I had to compare, it can compete with the likes of Home Depot and Lowe's only in the tool department. It falls short with everything else. Generally speaking, I've not even noticed Harbor Freight Tools in the neighborhood I've resided in for over a decade, and someone told me about a "Free Promotional Coupon" at Harbor Freight Tools, so I looked up the closest location, only to find out it was really close and I'd just never noticed it. It's a pretty lackluster store, with a lot of off-brand names, most seem to be of the "Made in China" generic variety... think of this sort of like the quality of a "Dollar Tree" / "Big Lots" / "$0.99 Cent Only" store for Hardware. One coupon touted a free item with a $19.95 value only to find out you could buy it outright for under $2.50, or use the coupon with purchase and get it for free. One of the big turn-offs was the clientele seems a bit sketchy, and one somewhat gang related type, came in with some sort of monstrous pit bull breed dog, although on a leash, was free to roam the store and the dog gave ready-to-attack stares and nervous lunges at patrons. I'd think it would be common sense to not allow dogs, especially large breeds, and only if seeing-eye, or medical related assistance dogs, in the store, but the staff seemed for the most part very uninspired. I'd say it's an odds on favorite for me to probably never come back here. I'd prefer Ace, True Value, Orchard Supply Hardware, Lowes or Home Depot... or even the hardware departments at Target or Wal-Mart before considering this place for anything. I think if this is representative of the Harbor Freight Tools retail image, it's in serious need of a major marketing facelift and new business strategy. read more

We came here as a family one day to get some storage bins (for screws, etc.) on sale. The place was clean, and some of the table saws were color-coded! That made the kids squeal. I got a few paint brushes there which I used and then threw them away. The brushes were cheap and I used them one time and they worked fine. I also got furniture moving pads. I haven't used them yet but they look like they will work. The only problem is that it just takes time to check out because there is always a long line that moves very slowly. read more

I really don't like to give negative reviews but I feel like I should share the transaction I had today. I went to return an item and forgot my receipt unfortunately. The sales clerk Peter then tried to give me attitude for this and even after I told him that I was sorry and I didn't use my phone number on this item at the time of purchase, he continued to argue with me and also continued to search the system to try and prove I bought the item over 90 days ago. This was incorrect and also embarrassing. I went to the Lomita location, explained I bought the item a week ago and with no hesitation I was able to get my store credit. Yesterday was Labor Day, I stopped by this particular location for something simple. It got pretty busy before closing. As I was waiting in line, I had a short convo with another customer, recommending their electrical fly swatter. Good vibes all around. Came here a second time to pick up a flashlight. I didn't know where the flashlight was in the store, yet somehow, I spent about five times longer waiting in the checkout line than I did actually trying to find the flashlight. How is that even possible??? I went to checkout #2, but with a couple of customers ahead of me, the cashier just suddenly decided to close the checkout stand for no good reason at all. Great...now we have to find another line. At least I was the last person in that line as opposed to the first. Moved over to checkout stand #1. Holly spent WAY TOO MUCH time with the customer, who was two spots ahead of me. It may not have been her fault, but I thought she wasn't going as fast as she should have been going. At least she was pretty nice and courteous when she rang me up; if she wasn't, I would have given a 1 instead of a 2. Still a pretty low 2 though. I think almost every tool lives in this store, I could be wrong, but whenever I'm looking for something and I don't want to drive to Home Depot or Sears I seem to always find what I need. Not exactly over joyed about the overwhelming Chinese craftsmanship, but the prices are low, the store is clean, neat and organized and service is decent. Remember you get what you pay for so if you're looking for sturdy DeWalt or sleek Mikita, you won't find it here....no everything for the most part is made in China, so quality isn't top notch. I'm always preaching to my kids to only buy what you need and that throwing money at something does not necessarily get you something better. Harbor Freight fits perfectly in that niche. I would say Harbor Freight's tools are all that most people will need around the house. After all most of us need a hammer to hang up picture frames more often than to frame a house! Having said that, I have known many contractors and mechanics that buy tools from Harbor Freight for professional use. I find Harbor Freight tools may not look "nice" as more expensive tools. Sometime they may be a bit heavier or comes with fewer bells and whistles. The question is: are you willing to pay 2-3 times the price. The answer for me is yes if I need it. There are tools that I would not buy at Harbor Freight but I make that decision from tool to tool. A while back I purchased a Variable Speed Oscillating power tool from Harbor Freight. I paid about $20 with a coupon. Most tools of this type run about $60-$150. It runs like a champ and does everything I need it to do. My friends and I share a hardwood flooring gun, we have passed this baby around and it has been used to install room after room of flooring. If you are worried about the quality, buy the extended warranty, it is cheap and will still be less than buying it from most places. Next Time? After spending over $400 here and thinking I was really liking the store all it took to open my eyes was to ask a simple question to the older male cashier that assisted me today. I tried to ask him about the price adjustment policy that I read about on the website and was interested if I could apply that to the items I had purchased there as it had been under 30 days and prices had dropped seemed like it should be simple. Instead he got upset and went to the back office with my receipts to talk to someone about it. He then returned and with attitude let me know that there store had not been informed of this policy and that is not how it works here etc which makes no sense since this is a franchise and it's on your website... if you don't know policy or don't want to support what the website states that shouldn't be my problem at all and I definitely shouldn't be getting attitude for asking about the policy displayed on your website! He then stated that even though he had just said that they would accept it "this one time"and give me the price reduction he could no longer help me because the reduced price is only offered on the weekend so if I wanted this to work I would have had to come on a Saturday or Sunday..... what?!?
