Mahogany entryway door with glass/ironwork insert - interior view

We ordered a custom wood door with a glass/ironwork insert from Ganahl in Torrance. Isaac Caudillo was the salesman that we worked with to create the order. Isaac was great to work with and helped work out the details of our special order that required coordinating the acquisition of the glass/ironwork insert from a fiberglass door fabricator and having it delivered to the Ganahl shop where the mahogany door was created to surround it. The door arrived in raw wood form as requested by me since I wanted to perform the finishing myself in order to match other wood already used around the home and yard. The door required a slight amount of sanding as it arrived from the Ganahl factory, but was otherwise ready to receive finishing. There was a issue during installation where the factory hadn't followed Isaac's instructions for cutting the hole in the door frame for the handle, which meant the handle set we ordered would not fit and we would not be able to close and lock the door. Isaac jumped on the problem immediately and obtained the needed parts by borrowing them from his display model on the showroom floor. He brought the new hardware to our home within the hour so the installation could be completed. My wife and I absolutely love the end result of our new entryway door. Our thanks to Isaac and Ganahl in helping us with the significant transformation for our home's entryway that we will enjoy for many years to come

Remodeling, adding addition, building your home is stressful. It requires many, many annoying trips (for me) to hardware stores. I enjoyed It here because its always less people and more organized than Home Depot and Lowe's, especially during the pandemic times, where I want to stay away from crowded places, but unfortunately projects are continued because there is nothing to do doing pandemic times. Lol! Prices are a little higher, depending on what materials you need. They have a huge lumber yard in the back and they have lots of material we were looking for that other stores don't supply.

I normally would enjoy coming into this store, however, on this particular day, I came in to replace this pipe. I took one from the shelf and went to ask one of the guys at the counter if this was the correct size and fit for what i needed. I informed him that I just needed this short piece on the end and not the end piece attached. He went on to tell me that it was not the correct piece as what I brought in was one solid piece that did not come apart. I assured him that it did in fact come apart and that was thread tape between the two pieces. He went on to condescendingly tell me that this was a complicated piece to replace, that what i needed was a valve. I assured him that all i needed was this short piece. He kept insisting that it was one piece and again in a condescending tone said "well, I could sell you this piece, but it won't work" I said no thank you, and left the store as well as overhearing him talking about me to his co-workers. I then went to L&B Plumbing and told them what I needed and the gentleman there went to retrieve this piece in the photo ....it was the exact piece I brought to the Ganahl employee and had asked about that insisted would not work and said I needed a valve attempting to mansplain how it worked. After purchasing what I needed from L&B Plumbing, I went home, attached the pipe, installed my new faucet and BAM, no more leak. So thank you Ganahl, if it wasn't for you, I would not have gone to L&B Plumbing where they don't try to mansplain to women who apparently know a little more about plumbing than you. I wish I had gotten his name, he just irked me so.

This is why Ganahl Lumber is tops!

This reduces trash and saves them money that can be passed on to the customer. However, HD sells small hickory wood logs to use in a smoker. Lowes only sells chunks. I dragged the 30 lbs. of wood to the register and went through the payment process. When I asked if there was a no receipt option, the person working there said, don't worry, it will give you one." I proceeded to throw it away in the trash can as I left. There is no need in most cases to produce a paper receipt. I have an account with HD, give me the electronic option there.

I am extremely disappointed with the level of customer service and the repeated logistical failures…read moreI experienced with this order. I placed the order approximately three weeks in advance of the requested delivery date. Two days before the scheduled delivery, I proactively contacted customer service to confirm the delivery window and make sure there would be no issues with the drop-off. Despite that, I subsequently received communication indicating that the delivery might arrive outside of the confirmed window. I immediately contacted customer service again and was assured that there should not be an issue. Shortly afterward, I received a call from the delivery driver stating that they were about to deliver the order--even though I had specifically indicated that the order could not be delivered at that time. From there, what should have been a simple logistics issue turned into approximately eight separate back-and-forth phone calls and four rescheduled delivery attempts. Each time, I was given assurances about what could be done to resolve the situation, only to have those commitments subsequently walked back or changed. Ultimately, the delivery was rescheduled to the exact day I needed the supplies on site. This created a significant disruption to my project and put my contractor's schedule at risk. The most frustrating aspect is that I did everything I reasonably could to prevent this situation. I placed the order well in advance and proactively contacted customer service before the delivery specifically to confirm that everything was in order. After all of these failures, the proposed resolution was to waive the $80 delivery fee and provide a $200 credit on an approximately $3,000 order. While I appreciate the gesture, it does not adequately address the amount of time, inconvenience, disruption, and frustration caused by the repeated failures in communication and logistics. This was not a single mistake--it was a series of preventable failures at multiple points in the process, compounded by inconsistent information from customer service and a lack of effective ownership of the problem. I should not have had to make approximately eight calls and repeatedly explain the same situation simply to get a delivery handled according to the arrangements that had already been made. By comparison, I had a significantly better experience with Lowe's, where their staff did a phenomenal job helping me locate and purchase the supplies I needed for immediate pickup. That allowed my contractor to stay on schedule and complete the work as planned. As someone who manages a business myself, I find this level of customer service unacceptable. If I or someone on my team handled a customer situation this way--particularly after the customer had proactively taken steps to prevent the problem--I would expect there to be serious accountability for the failure. This experience has completely undermined my confidence in your company. Unfortunately, based on the way this situation was handled from beginning to end, I will not be doing business with you again. The issue was not simply that the delivery went wrong; it was the repeated failure to communicate accurately, follow through on commitments, take ownership of the problem, and provide an effective solution when there were multiple opportunities to do so.
