Items here run noticeably higher compared to larger, non-mom-and-pop hardware stores, which makes it harder to shop here regularly. Keys were $7 each, and I accidentally grabbed a key ring I thought was $6, but it had been placed on the wrong hook and rang up as $13. A few areas of the store could use better organization and upkeep. Items were hung in the wrong place or can't easily tell pricing. I came in just to make keys and ended up spending $30. I just want to give a huge shout out to Ba at Anza True Value! I had 2 faucets to change out including waterlines and valves. First time for me, so every step, I had questions! 3 trips to this store and he helped me every time. They were super busy, but he made time for my beginner questions and advised me! In contrast, went to Home Depot, waited 15 minutes for zero help in plumbing, just a lot of useless employees standing around, and not one would help me! Anza True Value Hardware comes through again. My sliding screen door fell apart. I looked for weeks trying to find a replacement that would fit without costing me an arm and a leg! The door is a special design made by Mavin windows and they wanted over $1000 to replace it. I searched all over and could not find a replacement that would fit and work. That is until I walked into Anza True Value Hardware. After describing my door and showing some pictures they had a solution; a door that would work and would only cost me less than $170! This place has really become my neighborhood hardware store. In this case, I was looking to repair my red rider. I thought it needed new wheels. They have wheels right outside, and my dad was sure that they could hook me up. When I went there however, the guys decided that all I needed was to lubricate the wheels, so they did it... and they were right! Well they wouldn't take my money, So I bought a nice set of gardening gloves. This is not the first time that their advice has been valuable! They have just about everything that you possibly need in here, and they are still wearing masks, for customers like me who are at risk. I really appreciate this place! It costs nothing to be courteous to your customers and it might even retain a customer for life. In this store, however, the staff goes out of their way to be rude and snarky with customers. The gentleman at the cashier in his 30s or 40s treated me like an idiot when I asked for help finding the right size nut and bolt. I am not a contractor and there's a reason why I am willing to pay $1 for a single nut or bolt at this place rather than a fraction thereof at Home Depot. It's called HELP. I have tried this hardware store many times now, hoping that the Japanese American owner/employee would alter his terrible customer service attitude. I gave them yet another chance today. He said that he was surprised to see me back in there, I said I was giving them another chance and he proceeded to get lippier and lippier, depite my reminding him that he is precisely in the business of customer service. I said that I would go home and beef up my poor Yelp review, to which he responed, "Please do." I could hear him bad-mouthing me to another customer in the hardware aisle as I exited the store. December 17 I went to this establishment to buy an adapter to install a Pur filter on my faucet. I showed the sales person (Asian man) pictures of the faucet, parts that came with the Pur filter, and stated the problem I was having. I felt I was helping him with my explanation. He then got rude to me. I stated to him "you're a rude person talking to a customer in the manner you have". He then raised his voice and told me to leave the store, not once but a few times and ended up yelling at me to leave the store. Very bad customer service. read more

This is a mixed review. I've always liked this place. It's local, they always have basics. People are generally helpful. Hadn't been in since we've all been asked to stay indoors. Was pretty taken aback to see staff not wearing masks. No attempt to space out the folks in line. It was business as usual. The guy working up front this morning also has a smug look on his face when he asked me to speak up as if my own mask had muffled my voice. You want us to shop local, get with the program. read more

This post is for cat owners: I rescued a cat during the Covid-19 pandemic, and after much research, I decided to use pine pellets for the litter box since commercial cat litter is bad for the environment. After more research, I found out that I can get a 40 pound pine pellet bag for equine bedding from a hardware store for $8 instead of paying triple for the same thing at a pet store. Since we don't have much equine activity here in the South Bay, it's hard to find them, but after even more research, I found that I can order it online at True Value and they will ship it to a store near my home for free. This store was the closest, and after 5 days, I got the email that my pine pellets were ready to be picked up. I was in and out in less than 3 minutes, and I saved a ton of money. The employees were very nice which is even better. I can save the environment, shop at a local store, make my cat happy, and save money all at once. Life is good. read more

Surprisingly, this place has a good inventory of products compared to my plumbing supply stores that I go too. I'm a plumber so I usually go to my supply shop since I have an account but I'll come here if my supply shop is out of stock. I'll be in luck when my supply shops are out, they'll have what I need. I had searched several businesses when I remembered how great this store had been to me before. I went there and the lady behind the counter found a box full of all types of locks. I had a broken screw on my Honda trunk release mechanism and Richard was willing to crawl inside my trunk from the back seat. All this with my Yeti cooler stuck in the trunk! He worked on removing the broken screw piece which was not happening. So instead of saying "Sorry..." he got his boss to come out and help me. The screw would have to be drilled out but he continued to try and eventually came up with a resourcefully viable solution for a buck! If this is not a reason to support your local businesses I don't know what is one! These guys are amazing - you matter as a customer I wanted to buy up something to make up for all the inconvenience but they told me just come back! Wonderful service and I am forever grateful! I had a plumbing problem in my office. It's much more complicated than a regular bathroom sink drain system because the drain took an additional high pressure feed in addition to the regular sink drain. A part broke and flooded my bathroom. I went to this place after getting zero help at one of the big box hardware stores. In addition to not having the right part, no one was around to advise me. So I went to this place on 190th off Anza and in less than 10 minutes, this guy told me how to improvise with new parts and fittings and clearly explained to me how to put it all together. I put it all together and it worked like a charm. Everything went smoothly, which is amazing because plumbing fixes never go smoothly and it took me about 30 minutes to get the job done. All together the parts cost less than $15.00! Deal! For what looks like a small neighborhood hardware store I find they are better stocked than the big box stores. They always have the part I need. If I need a nut or screw, I can buy just one as opposed to the large package of 50 pieces. But the best thing about this place is the helpful service and advice they give me when I'm not sure how to tackle a problem. That is so refreshing in this day and age.
