I wouldn't rate them below three stars, feels unconscionable, so that's where this lands for me. The main factor is pricing. Items here run noticeably higher compared to larger, non-mom-and-pop hardware stores, which makes it harder to shop here regularly. Keys were $7 each, and I accidentally grabbed a key ring I thought was $6, but it had been placed on the wrong hook and rang up as $13. A few areas of the store could use better organization and upkeep. Items were hung in the wrong place or can't easily tell pricing. I came in just to make keys and ended up spending $30. That said, the store staff were friendly and helpful, which I appreciated. read more

Support local businesses! They're always so helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. The shop is organized and clean. Had to get keys made and they had a variety of styles which is important to me. Also left w a broom, watering can, and lockbox bc I forgot I needed them. I came back close to Christmas for some stocking stuffers (laser measurer and flashlight). I rarely rate a store down but this one rates only one star. As a neighborhood source, I have shopped at Anza Hardware for years, but this AM I went there to buy some screendoor spline--that's the binding that is a plastic rope that firmly holds the screen in its frame. Low priced but essential for screen replacement. I went online and found 'Truevalue Anza' and searched for spline. I knew what I needed and found it....for $3.99, so I called to see if it was in stock and they said 'yes' we have it. So I went there at opening time, the following AM to purchase the $3.99 for 25 ft as shown online (see photo). When I got there, nobody was at the register so I waited and waited. Finally, a guy with initials "HA" shows up and tells me that the item is 'in the warehouse' and that we need to walk out there. So, we walk thru the back door, across the alley and into a separate building, where there's a workspace with a big table and along the edge of the table, rolled on spools, are the spline and rope materials. He points to the choices and I find the .165 spline as shown in the photo. He asks me how much and I tell him and he cuts it from the spool, no measuring but holding it across his chest. He and I proceed to walk back to the store and he "rings it up"....BANG! $13 NOT the $3.99 as shown in the photo of the online listing of Anza's stock. I complain and pay cash and leave...It was dishonest of him. I went back after telling a friend, who said it also happened to him at 'that place' as well. The cut spline turned out to be less than 25 ft. but didn't delay my work, so I accepted it. I looked at the cash register receipt and it said '20 ft of building materials' = total $14.27'. So, I took the receipt and the photo of the web photo on my cell phone back to the store. "HA" was there and concocted a story, in a hurry, about the store not actually being a 'Truevalue' store and therefore the website didn't reflect their stock. He wouldn't credit me the $10 overcharge. He said 'bring back the spline' and every other option under the sun, but no refund, no store credit, not even an apology. Don't patronize these liars and cheats. They are snakes who will smile at you while they pick your pocket! Don't say you weren't warned about "Anza True Value Hardware" on 190th st. Torrance, CA. Call them at 310-376-0852 and ask them why they lie and swindle people? read more

I just want to give a huge shout out to Ba at Anza True Value! I had 2 faucets to change out including waterlines and valves. First time for me, so every step, I had questions! 3 trips to this store and he helped me every time. They were super busy, but he made time for my beginner questions and advised me! In contrast, went to Home Depot, waited 15 minutes for zero help in plumbing, just a lot of useless employees standing around, and not one would help me! Anza True Value Hardware comes through again. My sliding screen door fell apart. I looked for weeks trying to find a replacement that would fit without costing me an arm and a leg! The door is a special design made by Mavin windows and they wanted over $1000 to replace it. I searched all over and could not find a replacement that would fit and work. That is until I walked into Anza True Value Hardware. After describing my door and showing some pictures they had a solution; a door that would work and would only cost me less than $170! Again they amazed me in how knowledgeable they are and their ability to help me out. Next time? Definitely will come again. read more

This place has really become my neighborhood hardware store. In this case, I was looking to repair my red rider. I thought it needed new wheels. They have wheels right outside, and my dad was sure that they could hook me up. When I went there however, the guys decided that all I needed was to lubricate the wheels, so they did it... and they were right! Well they wouldn't take my money, So I bought a nice set of gardening gloves. This is not the first time that their advice has been valuable! They have just about everything that you possibly need in here, and they are still wearing masks, for customers like me who are at risk. I really appreciate this place! It costs nothing to be courteous to your customers and it might even retain a customer for life. In this store, however, the staff goes out of their way to be rude and snarky with customers. The gentleman at the cashier in his 30s or 40s treated me like an idiot when I asked for help finding the right size nut and bolt. I am not a contractor and there's a reason why I am willing to pay $1 for a single nut or bolt at this place rather than a fraction thereof at Home Depot. It's called HELP. This place is right next to my house so I keep coming back for the convenience, but their consistently terrible attitude makes me regret it every time. read more

I have tried this hardware store many times now, hoping that the Japanese American owner/employee would alter his terrible customer service attitude. I gave them yet another chance today. He said that he was surprised to see me back in there, I said I was giving them another chance and he proceeded to get lippier and lippier, depite my reminding him that he is precisely in the business of customer service. I said that I would go home and beef up my poor Yelp review, to which he responed, "Please do." I could hear him bad-mouthing me to another customer in the hardware aisle as I exited the store. December 17 I went to this establishment to buy an adapter to install a Pur filter on my faucet. I showed the sales person (Asian man) pictures of the faucet, parts that came with the Pur filter, and stated the problem I was having. I felt I was helping him with my explanation. He then got rude to me. I stated to him "you're a rude person talking to a customer in the manner you have". He then raised his voice and told me to leave the store, not once but a few times and ended up yelling at me to leave the store. Very bad customer service. read more

This is a mixed review. I've always liked this place. It's local, they always have basics. People are generally helpful. Hadn't been in since we've all been asked to stay indoors. Was pretty taken aback to see staff not wearing masks. No attempt to space out the folks in line. It was business as usual. The guy working up front this morning also has a smug look on his face when he asked me to speak up as if my own mask had muffled my voice. You want us to shop local, get with the program. read more

This post is for cat owners: I rescued a cat during the Covid-19 pandemic, and after much research, I decided to use pine pellets for the litter box since commercial cat litter is bad for the environment. After more research, I found out that I can get a 40 pound pine pellet bag for equine bedding from a hardware store for $8 instead of paying triple for the same thing at a pet store. Since we don't have much equine activity here in the South Bay, it's hard to find them, but after even more research, I found that I can order it online at True Value and they will ship it to a store near my home for free. This store was the closest, and after 5 days, I got the email that my pine pellets were ready to be picked up. I was in and out in less than 3 minutes, and I saved a ton of money. The employees were very nice which is even better. I can save the environment, shop at a local store, make my cat happy, and save money all at once. Life is good. read more

Surprisingly, this place has a good inventory of products compared to my plumbing supply stores that I go too. I'm a plumber so I usually go to my supply shop since I have an account but I'll come here if my supply shop is out of stock. I'll be in luck when my supply shops are out, they'll have what I need. Service is great too. Products are a tiny bit expensive but it's a small hardware store so I'm not going to really complain and take one star off. read more

This hardware store is a rare gem! The owners care about their customers and go above and beyond to be helpful. I was looking for a hard to find lock . I had searched several businesses when I remembered how great this store had been to me before. I went there and the lady behind the counter found a box full of all types of locks. She went through the box and there it was!!!!!! It was amazing. They had one left but she also told me they would be happy to order more. Give this store your patronage. You won't regret it. I had a broken screw on my Honda trunk release mechanism and Richard was willing to crawl inside my trunk from the back seat. All this with my Yeti cooler stuck in the trunk! He worked on removing the broken screw piece which was not happening. So instead of saying "Sorry..." he got his boss to come out and help me. The screw would have to be drilled out but he continued to try and eventually came up with a resourcefully viable solution for a buck! If this is not a reason to support your local businesses I don't know what is one! These guys are amazing - you matter as a customer I wanted to buy up something to make up for all the inconvenience but they told me just come back! Wonderful service and I am forever grateful! Needed an adapter for a faucet that I could not find at Home Depot or Lowes and didn't know exactly what I needed so could not order online. Walked into Anza True Value and within two seconds a friendly team member asked what I needed. I showed him the parts and he literally found what I needed in their plumbing section in two minutes.
