Worst retail storer ever, can not wait to see it going under and all these scammers losing their jobs. They sold me a PREDATOR 8750 generator, $1,200. They told me I had 90 days to return it. The Generator FAILED after 1 month, the inverter doesn't work and you get an error saying "overload", even with nothing plugged to it. After doing some research I see this is a common problem with Predator Generators, so I took it to the store to return it. They told me they sell these Generators with ZERO manufacturer warranty, and if you declined their extended protection, you are DONE. You have to pay a restocking fee of 20% because you were so dumb to buy from these SCAMMERS. So you pay them 20% of $1,200 for a faulty generator. I will NEVER set foot on this garbage store again, and none of my family will. When this store closed because of their TERRIBLE customer service, thank local Managers like Mike, who only scam people. read more

I stopped in today to buy wheels for my wife's garden cart. As I was,Ed in, the young woman at the register saw the dirty wheel I was carrying in and shouted, "aisle 3, in the back. " Next, a gentleman who described himself as "Old Jim" came along, saw my need, grabbed a likely suspect from the shelf and scanned the tag with his reader tool. A ha! He hurried into the back with 4 wheels ... exactly what I needed. He gave me his cart too. You shop Harbor Freight for price but I can add that I will now shop here for darn amazing customer service. They have an online rewards program that sends you coupons (fine) but don't try to get new customers to apply if they don't want to. They always have huge check out lines that never move because they need personal information to apply for the rewards program. Just take my money and shut up. I love harbor freight. I get their catalogs (seems like weekly) and always plan to make a trip for 5 or 6 things at once. Went to the Parsippany store today and had a case of "oh my god, I have to pee"... I literally had to stand in line to ask the "where is the me 's room" question. A talkative man was in line ahead of me and it was... nerve wracking. Mike, the store manager (according to his name plate) directed me to the bathroom and returned to his conversation with the talkative gentleman. Peeeeeeeeeee... ahhhh. Wander aisles. Select 5 items. Coupons? No- not me. Back in line. Hi Mike! Ohhhh Mike is still talking to the talkative gentleman and directs me to the "other" line (the one with 4 people in it one of whom is an old man complaining about his coupon) Mike? What? Dude? Maybe I was there at a slow time (a saturday just before close), but I had no trouble checking out. Quick line, and while I was asked to sign up for their frequent shopper program, in this era of disposable phone #'s and email addresses, I don't care. From what I gather, everything in the store is actually less than the posted price if you walk in with coupons (my drill dropped from $40 to $30). The gentleman that checked me out was really nice. Unlike say, Home Depot, there were people there to answer questions too. Store was well organized, really good stock for such a small store (compared to big box hardware stores). I can't think of many similar store-brand (or name-brand, really) tools at HD or Lowe's that would also not be made in China. And there did seem to be both "dirt cheap" (like maybe this is too good a deal) to "cheap because it's not Ryobi or Milwaukee" in everything from power tools to hand tools. read more

I bought a generator august 4th it stope working November first but couldn't get to the store until today November 12th a week after the manufacture warranty expired. they replaced it under the extended warranty when they could have actually replaced it under the 90 manufacture warranty and wanted to charge me $500 for another extended warranty which I thought would carry over from the three months generator. two stores said they could have replaced it under the manufacture warranty being it's within one week but the manager at this location was unreasonable read more

I'm on their mailing list. I get emails almost daily with advertisements for over priced tools and free junk. However today, I got a 20% off on anything in the store coupon. I needed a set of folding ramps for may utility trailer. I checked the web site, said they were in stock so I headed down (35 min Drive) trailer in tow to get the ramps and transport some equipment back home with me. I get in the store, see the ramps I wanted on display with a "Take a ticket" to the cashier sign. There is ONE register open and the line is half way across the store. I wait while this cashier rings up everyone's purchases (SLOOOOOWLY), she also tries to sign up each person to their membership club. When they decline, she proceeds to show them each all the "benefits". It takes about 20 min for me to get to the cashier. she tells me that I need to step out of line while someone gets my products, not ringing me up. she calls someone on the radio, tells them what I want, three times. They eventually come out and get the ticket. She processes about 4 more customers, and I ask what the hold up is. She calls on the radio and tells me they are out of stock! I said "No your not, you have one on display" She says they don't sell the displays. I said your web site says you have it in stock. she repeats "Sorry, we can't sell the display" She says they "might" have one on the truck later. I asked about the 20% discount and she said they don't give rain-checks. I don't go there very often, first time in about 8 months, and needless to say I'll not be going there very often in the future. The cashier was very rude. At the time of check out, she kept asking for private information like my name, phone number, e-mail and address.... and she seemed to be annoyed when I asked her for an explanation... why is it necessary to give all of my information to make a simple purchase??? I was told that if I ever want to return my purchased items then I needed to give all this information. Forget it! Never in my life have I had to provide my personal information to be able to have the option of returning an item. What happens to simply holding on to your receipt? You can't beat Harbor Freight if you are seriously mechanically minded. Either an amateur or professional. Who cares if they want your phone number or are under staffed or are sometimes rude. So my husband and I came here to get him a motorcycle lift, granted we've been here many times for other things... We buy the lift, that went smoothly, they let us use a coupon and got about $100 off of it... The guy helping us get it into the car was very nice and helpful... We bring the thing home, finagle it to get it into the garage just the two of us since it's 400lbs... Open the box, take it out anddddd the hydraulic pump is not in there at all.... What a disaster. So we call the store they said they would call us back, then we call corporate center who was a douche and was so unhelpful. Decided to package it back together and bring it to saddlebrook because they had them in stock and were going to let us do an exchange: So we get it onto the trailer, takes us an hour then we get a call from the manager D in parsippany. He tells us to come there and get a new one when they get a shipment on Thursday and he will take $50 off the price for all our trouble... honestly the customer service here was great and as annoying as our experience was it was surely not the fault of the store and the manager tried to make good on it for us, so they get a good review from me... read more

Since the Parsippany location opened I've been about once a month. Store is brand new so they get an "A" for being neat and organized. The hand tools are good quality considering the prices you pay for them. To those complainers/snobs who say "it's all from China" what tools AREN'T from China these days? Unless you are willing to pay the big bucks for Snap-On stuff, the tools here are just fine for your average DIY'er. They offer enough 25% coupons on a regular basis to keep me coming back when I need miscellaneous stuff. read more

I often hear about HF locations being filled with rude and lazy staffers however, when I went, every staff member I crossed paths with asked if I needed assistance in some way. While waiting in a long line the store opened a second register. The man at the register said he would take the next person in line. The person in front of me was the next person in line so he began to get his items to go to the newly opened register. Before he could make it there the person behind me grabbed his items and ran to the newly opened register. I said to this man that he just cut in line and I got no response from him. The person working the first register begins an argument blaming the patron in front of me and blames me for not speaking up loud enough. I say to her that since she works here that her assistance in regards to this would be greatly appreciated. She had no interest in assisting. Her only interest was arguing with paying customers. Since I was getting nowhere with her I asked to speak to the manager. That was a waste of time. She was even more rude than the woman working the register. After I got rung up by the second register the guy working it told me I was correct and understood why I was speaking up for the other customers. When I left the building I ran in to the customer who was in front of me. Drove from NJ to NY for my first Harbor Freight purchase years ago. My buddy and I were like kids in a candy store. We quickly realized everything was made in China. However the cargo carrier I purchased was strong, well made and well worth the price. Repeat customers know going in what to expect as far as the quality/price offered, and I for one was thrilled when a Harbor Freight appeared in Parsippany, NJ, 20 min. away. I have since shopped there plenty, and was happy to see a Harbor Freight less than 30 min. away from our soon to be Florida home. If you feel you need top quality "name" tools that MIGHT be better then prepare to spend 3x the price or more. Harbor Freight works fine for me. BTW, I've always had polite, helpful assistance from all the employees, plus never more than 2 in front of me at the register.
