Necessity IS The Mutha of All Invention and whenever I need to find something specific for a project I know I can count on Anchor Ace Hardware to help Me invent whatever it is that's necessary. And this Store definitely has Everything over here. Basically if You need it They got it and if They don't, it's because You didn't even need it to get the job done in the first place. That makes sense Right? It does to Me, Lol!!    Anyway, while it's not the largest Hardware Store I've ever been to, it is deceiving at just how big this store's layout really is, partly because it looks a bit small from the highway. But all I know is they're using this space to it's fullest possible potential. i applied for a job there and they yelled at me for making little mistakes and asking too many questions, despite the fact that I was told by Jeff to ask questions so that I could learn the job. Mitch yelled at me because of something a customer did which he blamed me for. Jeff clearly does not care about his "teammates" and he just wants power for himself. I thought Mitch was anxious, perhaps overwhelmed, and that's why i got yelled at. There is a subtle frustration in the air that you are not allowed to address, and that's why Jeff fired me, because the job is so easy why on earth is everyone frustrated? Their main selling point is customer service, because they can't beat the prices of larger stores, but they can't seem to respect the customers, and I know this because they don't respect their own employees. read more

When we lived in mountain lakes, this was an easier store to visit. Now, in Denville, despite being in the same town, I have to drive to back to mountain lakes to shop. But it's still worth the effort. Here's why... This morning, we were coming from church - also in mountain lakes - looking to buy rock salt to spread on the church's drive and entrance. The fellow working in the store gave me some good advice on which brand to buy, found out that it was for church and gave me a nice discount. He even helped load 250lbs of salt into the trunk. How cool is that? And this isn't the first time the people at this store has impressed us. Local stores like this have to compete with huge stores on many levels. This store has always earned our business through service. We will be back because of the way they value our business - always with excellent advice and best in class service. Seriously great. They are better skilled at answering your questions than the big box stores. The key cutting and auto key programming guy is the best. Really knows what he is doing and cares to do a good job for you. They have some great, unadvertised sales of products in there whenever I go in. For example, last time they had various spray paints 50% off! Great deal. And lots of unique products that are not normally available in the other big stores. And they will advise you where to get something if they don't have it. Excellent for DIY folks. read more

Anchor True Value Hardware is fantastic! Today I went in with a stop valve (shuts off water to an outdoor faucet) that leaked severely when I opened it this spring. I was looking for a replacement and the big box store I'd visited previously did not have a matching stop valve. I did not want to have to use a torch to remove the old valve body and sweat a new one in, because this old valve was in a difficult spot to reach. The friendly gentleman at Anchor, who right away asked if he could help me, said I could replace the packing in the valve and it would be as good as new. Not only did he show me how to do this, but he disassembled and repacked the valve for me right then and there. When I got home and reinstalled it, the faucet was good as new with not even a drop of water coming out. Now THAT is service! This is a fabulous store that carries so many unique, and needed items you simply will not find in the big box stores too. Try Anchor first next time - I certainly will. The employees here are very helpful and this location is much more conveniently located for residents of Mountain Lakes and the surrounding communities than Home Depot. I found a new type of wall hanger that holds up to 200 lbs and leaves very small holes in the wall. This was recommended to me by an employee and it did the trick. I'm going back today for more. read more

Been here once, won't be going back anytime in the near future. Although I must say I vaguely remembering the staff being helpful and kind, the prices are absolutely ridiculous for what they have to offer. It appeared that virtually everything in the store was around double the price in comparison to your local Lowes or Home Depot. Considering all the products offered are for sale at the larger chain stores such as the ones mentioned, and that there is a Home Depot within a 5 mile radius, I do not see why one would come here unless for one or two urgent purchases. read more
