To top off the wasted 2 hours drive, they don't have any retaining wall block or caps available nor do they have an ETA of arrival. Been here twice now looking for stone for a project. Both times we stand around with nobody rushing to be helpful. Didn't have samples for what I was looking for, said they would order and call me. After a week I called and they told me the samples were in, showed up and samples not there. Told me over the phone they could open a box to show me, went back and didn't have them. It's like they don't want to sell, can't be working on commission there, nobody seemed to care. Won't be spending my cash there. read more

I had the most incredible experience with Braen supply. I was ambivalent and indecisive when it came to choosing the stone materials for my patio and retaining wall. I was stressed and confused . Nick Patiro helped me at the time of my appointment. He was knowledgeable, patient and truly revealed his level of expertise. The same was true for Julia and Mark who I spoke to on the phone several times with questions. They were both courteous and patient with me. We were told never to come back as customers. My son and I (58-year-old woman) went to Braen to pick up a few bags of stone dust. No problem with the salesman at all. Apparently when the loading crew is busy, the customers have to fill their own bags, so we agreed. We were shown to the area where the dust is located, got there, but no shovels, so I had to walk around the truck-and-fork-lift busy yard begging for a shovel. As soon as we finally got one and started shoveling the dust into the bags, they asked us to move the car, because a truck needed to pass. We stopped what we were doing and moved the car. Then got back to shoveling the stuff - a very dusty and messy job, for which we were unprepared and breathing in all the dust. Right in the middle of working, one of the yard employees runs up to us and says we need to move the car again. I told him that I need to get this done and the best way to get us out of there quick is to help us get the stone dust bagged. Instead of helping, he ran off to call the manager. The manager came up and told us we need to move the car because a truck needed to pass. Again, I said, we only have a couple of bags to finish, help us and we will go faster. He replied that we were a fire hazard - this is outdoors - what a lie! Again, I said, grab a shovel and help us out, that we already moved before, and now have as much right to get the stuff we paid for. ...Instead of helping us finish, he told us not to come back. ... His name is Mike and he is the Manager. Of course, I am very sad - had I known I would be dismissed as customer over a couple of bags of stone dust, I would not have spent over $100,000.00 on prior purchases from Braen. My wife and I found this place in April (Just a delayed review). We had done a project for the front of our house and went to several places before looking on Yelp. We needed stone veneer, however many of the other stores had limited supply or none at all (pay upfront.) The staff here was very knowledgeable and attentive. I will always return when there is good service. They have a huge selection and the pricing was reasonable. We will be back when we do our backyard project. read more

Recently did a medium size project. The project involved bluestone and they have no idea what assortment of stones the pallet will have. The stones were so assorted that the contractor could not develop a pattern. Be careful that the stone if they say 12inches, it includes the cut also so it will only be 11.5 but you will be charged for 12! The stones were uneven thickness and it was a nightmare to lay it. It was very frustrating to lay a pattern. So we were cut short by few 10% of stones for our project due to their stones short by the measurement. Ok we dealt with that. So needed to order some more stones to finish the project. So called 5 different times to order but no one responded. The staff everyone is useless. I don't know how the owner is surviving with the kind of staff. They want to time pass and not serve the customer and I had seen personally when I was there. It is so cheap they responded to me. They called up Haledon location there was no response from there. So waited for a long time and this rep made a fake call and said they don't have it. There is not much a clear communication between Haledon and Wanaque location. Anything that you ask they will say they don't have it will take couple of months to order. so you end up buying stone at a higher price. Seriously beware that there is not much of a difference between natural bluestone and their higher price temperature treated bluestone. So you will pay higher price.The experience was kind of ok not great. read more
