First bought dryer paid for installation dryer did not not work installers did not check it too see if it worked. Second machine installed improperly set off fire alarm. Never put a a lamp on the hose. Very poor customer care waited three weeks for second machine and now after paying to have it installed I will install it myself. I thought I would take advantage of their curbside pickup. When I got there, I called the phone number for them to bring my order out. I gave the worker a tip for bringing my order out. When I got home I noticed my order was wrong. I called to let them know that my order was wrong. I gave them the information on the piece that I didn't receive and requested that they have it ready for me. I told them that I had an extra part and asked if I can see the guy who brought me the incorrect piece to make the exchange. When I got there, the person who brought my order out wasn't there, so I thought I would go inside for help. I made the mistake of being patient and standing in line waiting for assistance. Then somebody else, walked in directly to the table and got to go in front of me. That person was helped immediately while 2 employees continued to keep their heads down without offering assistance. Finally I spoke up and asked for some assistance and I explained that I had the wrong piece, I gave them my order number and identified the piece that I was missing. While I was waiting the other 2 people looked up and asked if I was being helped. I was expecting for somebody to bring me the piece that I was missing. Eventually somebody else asked me what it was I was waiting for and they told me that I had to go find the piece that I ordered. At that point I asked them to cancel because I did not wish to look around the store for the correct piece without assistance. I can acknowledge that I should have checked my order before loading up my vehicle and then driving uncomfortably home. I made the mistake to assume the person getting my order together may verify and the person whom brought my items out, would check as well. But I didn't order curbside pickup so that I can go inside to be ignored, and then told that I had to find the item myself in the store. I don't expect their competitors to be any better at verifying items or providing any type of customer service experience. So suggest that if you use curbside pickup you verify the items before you drive off. I also suggest being aggressive if you need assistance, otherwise the staff here will ignore you. read more

Lowe's in Butler, NJ is the worst. We've been waiting 50 minutes for someone to come to the "pick up" desk. I've talked to two other associates who seem to believe that customer service doesn't really matter. They say, "I'll look into it" and then disappear. Or they say they don't know where the person at the pickup desk is and then walk away. I guess there's no truth in advertising here: "customer service -- our promise." PS Update: as we were waiting for someone to retrieve our order, Another customer came up to the pick up desk and gave them his order number. They went in the back to retrieve his folding table. Two minutes later they came back and said the table was there but that an associate had decided to use it, it was scratched and would he like to take it used? Returns suck and managers are not empowered to provide customer service. I am a frequent shopper of home improvement materials and I rarely return anything because I would rather keep a small stock of spare parts on hand to avoid a trip from time to time. Tonight I did make a trip to return a few tile samples and some overage I had from a backsplash job. I was very dissatisfied by the customer service I received at the return desk. I was told that without a receipt - no return can be processed - without exception. They CAN scan your credit card and see if any matching purchases are found by their system however after scanning every credit card I had they were unable to find any matches. While they were scanning, I searched through my email and found receipts for all but one single solitary tile that I had purchased as a sample. The receipt was only 1 month old and DID show one of the credit cards I had provided but if I didn't have that email, it felt like they were happy to have an excuse to not process my return. That last tile that was worth a dollar and change? They didn't care at all that it could not be returned. That measly dollar and the lack of any apparent desire to provide good customer service is the reason it is going to be a very long time before I can bring myself to go back to any Lowes. read more

This complaint is for the store on route 23 in butler NJ. I have now called this location 5 times in the last hour. First, I was on hold trying to reach Millwork and it rang for 10 minutes. I hung up and called back and hit zero for the operator. A gentleman (term used loosely) picked up, and said "someone should be in millwork, let me try them again" So, he transfers me again and it rings for 10 minutes, so I hang up and call back. I get the same man again and tell him what happened. I ask for a manager. He proceeds to try and transfer me to a manager and hangs up on me. I call back AGAIN, on hold for 5 minutes get THE SAME man again and DEMAND a manager. I then ask his name and he HANGS UP ON ME I called back AGAIN, hit zero and a woman picks up. I immediately as her name. She says Amanda. I ask her what the name of the man is in customer service (who must be standing next to her) she says there is no man there, I explain my story to her and I audibly hear her chuckle. I then ask her for a manager and I have now been on hold for over 15 minutes waiting. While I have been waiting, on another phone, I called the customer service number and they are now trying to reach a manager in that store while I wait with 2 phones on hold I ask you......is this worth it??? why would you shop here? read more

They are often referred to as "Big Box Stores" suggesting they are impersonal and cold. Today we had just the opposite experience. Our refrigerator suddenly died, Lowes website said they could have one on-site in 24 hours. After we ordered it an email said they couldn't deliver for 7 days. I called the Lowes manager in Butler at 9pm, his name is Dan. He investigated why there was a delay, his store was out of stock. He located nearby supply and followed up with me the next day several times to confirm delivery. Today it is so easy to turn a deaf ear, blame I/T, a website or the delivery team instead of taking responsibility. Dan, the Store Manager, by his example has delivered a positive customer experience and thus a loyal customer. Paul in the pro center was very helpful with helping us finding the right Color for our siding project . We only need a few pieces of siding . He was very busy but took The time out to help us and go out of his way. We went to Lowe's in Morristown ( no help) and 2 Home Depots which didn't help Us at all. Update 2/2/19: Home Depot was packed and Lowe's was empty. I know why. I went In for 1 small item. At 10:30AM on Saturday 1 register open with 50 people on line. 3 store associates in the lumber aisle having a good old laugh. 1 lady selling windows by the front door and every single cart was scattered around the parking lot so I carried a 2 year old around the store. Finally I left my item mid aisle where I was on line and left. They spent a year renovating the plumbing area and must have forgot to put self checkout in. What a joke. After placing an internet order the carrier XPO called the day before the scheduled delivery to cancel as snow was coming. No big deal. The day after the snow and each day for FIVE DAYS after that I called and the store said someone would have to call back. No one has called back. Now my order was placed TEN days ago and I'm told the trucks are delivering salt? How about you deliver the order that was placed first? Order cancelled. There's a Home Depot next door. On my way there now. Besides this experience I have stood in line to pay at this store for 30 minutes while employees stand outside the door smoking or hanging out in the corner on the phone. Went to purchase multiple lighting fixtures for my house. I was alone and needed assistance getting the big, bulky boxes. I asked the associate in the lighting department and was laughed at for not providing a cart (my fault but didn't think I deserved to be laughed at) and then given attitude when asked if he could help me load the boxes into the cart. Went in for a few things on Saturday afternoon. The place was dead. 3 girls at Customer Service laughing, enjoying their shift. Had a question about outdoor furniture being not marked on clearance and was told "the best thing is to bring the item to the register and have us scan it." Well, it was a picnic table. I wasn't really prepared to put a table on my back, carry to the register, just to see the price. When confronted with the idiocy of the situation, they then paged 3 different people to come get us a price. Nobody really had an answer in the end, except to say "oh the Summer clearances are mostly gone. That's regular price." Really? Why all the signage? It's August 11th! Summer clearance is over?!?!? All time wasted. It was a real effort for these people! Sorry to actually want to spend $$$. Insane!!! The laziness and incompetence is a disease! Every time I go to Lowe's it's a bad experience. So let me start off by saying first of all this Lowe's is the worst I've ever been to so we went there to get DeWalt power tools right we needed like seven of them and we waited for 45 minutes four pages later nobody comes into the tool aisle to help us okay there's no Associates down at that end they're all at the other end all grouped together like in a couple of Isles and nobody helped us I will never go back to Lowe's again this Butler store April 24th 4:45 in the afternoon the managers there should be fired because they don't know how to run a store and when I made a complaint to the manager he Shrugged his shoulders to me and said oh well what do you want me to do about it holy crap I've never seen a corporate business like that ran I never seen the head supervisor not give a s*** about how it's ran I just can't believe it no wonder why Home Depot is so good there's always workers in the aisles and there's always workers in the power tool Isles first of all to stop thefts second of all to help their customers so now we left after 50 minutes of being in the store and not getting any help going back and forth to the guy at the cash register to do the PA and nobody to help us holy s*** they might as well just sell their store to Home Depot because you know what they're losing so much money we would have probably spent a couple of grand there today but now I'm going to Home Depot to get my tools terrible business I will never use Lowe's again read more

The store itself is very clean, however the customer service should be a negative number. I walked through 8 aisles straight during my visit and didn't see one associate on both sides. When I did find an employee, I asked him where sheets of paneling was, and i was told "he's busy looking for a flag to help lead a forklift drive" and pretty much walked right past me. This isn't the first time this has happened. Im there daily and it is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to find employees in most departments. Thank god I know the store myself, because finding someone who actually works there is next to impossible. And even you do find someone, GOD FORBID they actually stop to help you. I also was purchasing 100 bags of black mulch and had asked an outdoor garden associate to help me bring the pallet to my truck on the side of the building. I was told " I have to wait an hour" for them to finish moving stuff around to consolidate the half empty pallets into full pallets. I worked at home depot for over 7 years and ID BE FIRED if I told a customer they had to wait an hour after purchasing 100 Bags of mulch! Thats only 2 of my wonderful experiences at this place. After being jerked around from the cashier to the requested "store manager" who actually was Customer Service, obtaining a veterans discount with my proper NJ state issued drivers license identifying me as a veteran was not worth the effort at Lowes. I wrote to the president of Lowe's, Marvin R. Ellison and never got a response. Home Depot is more veteran friendly. I will shop for all of my home needs at Home Depot. Received a large order where Lowe's decided to substitute a lesser item without approval. A call was placed to Riverdale, NJ Lowe's where I was transferred repeatedly from department to department. After calling back and asking Customer Service to not transfer me and listen to my problem I was assured correct item would arrive 6 days later. Not a big deal since it was a large project and didn't need the item in question for at least a week. Later that day I get a call explaining the item wasn't in stock, even though the webpage indicated 24 in stock, I was told there would be a refund for the material. The fund never happened. This Lowe's treats the differently-abled as second class citizens. They have 3 shopper assist scooters at their store for the past year, 2 of which are out of order, and the third does not hold a charge and literally goes 1 mile per hour! That is unacceptable, being that the store is 25 aisles long, each aisle is 10 feet wide (20 ft including shelving units) and 300 feet long. How is someone that can't walk supposed to shop? And the manager, Rich, said that he had "no clue that the scooters were out of order" but the first thing you see when you walk in the front door is the big "Out of Order" signs that they printed and posted on the units. The THIRD time I ordered online they did the same thing and after 45 min I asked for a refund so I could just get out if there and they told me it would take 30 min to process the refund. The salesperson was excellent. But then I went to pay for the delivery and install of a new dishwasher and my experience changed. Lowe's couldn't decide if my purchase was a delivery or pick up. This Lowe's is just awful. They are under staffed with insufficiently trained employees and have antiquated computer systems. Over the summer only one register worked in the garden dept and I had to wait 20 mins for a manager to override a plant that was on sale. Meanwhile the line just starts to grow while we all just stand there and wait. The person in front of me left a cart full of plants because he was waiting for the same reason for 20 mins. This is just one of the horrible experiences I have had here I could keep going but you get the point. Just hope you don't have a problem because they have 1 person working returns and customers service and no one knows anything. Be prepared to spend your whole day waiting for help that you will never get. It's sad they will probably be out of business soon. read more

Bought a water softener from Lowe's as well as their protection plan. Less than a year after purchase water was leaking from the connector. I have a finished basement so I called Lowe's immediately. Kept following up with them and asked if I could use my own plumber. They said if I did so, the warranty would be voided. I waited and waited and was finally told there was no one in New Jersey who was available to do a repair!!!! So why do they sell warranty plans??? It is easier for them to replace the unit than to repair it. Did $12,000 worth of damage and corporate was impossible to deal with. BBB is toothless so that led nowhere. Even contacted Dept of Consumer Affairs and that went nowhere. Finally contacted Bamboozled of The Star-Ledger who first contacted Lowe's corporate to verify info and got no response. They wound up publishing my story but I was out $1,000 deductible and hours spent on the phone with the adjusters and Lowe's Corporate. And Lowe's still has an A rating on BBB. Absolutely the worst store for customer service ever. Their professionalism is non existent and their excuses are insulting. I was receiving texts for orders other people were ordering and when I tried to contact the manager he was either 'on leave' or 'on vacation' and his assistant manager Darwin wouldn't even answer the phone. Deena promised to correct the error and call me back but never did - Melissa was the only one with a brain and pleasant to talk to who solved the problem immediately. I was then given 3 more delivery dates that were also not met! I was told the refrigerator was not in stock several times, to then be told it was in stock but did not make the truck. The excuses are endless !! I am giving them one more try and then I will cancel my order and NEVER buy anything from them again!! I ordered "rubber mulch" from Lowes on may 5th, 2020. At that time I was told there would be a delay in shipping and the order, 40 bags, would be shipped on May, 13th. That is the last I heard from Lowes. Every day I check, because it is necessary for me to be home to take delivery. I called Customer care, but after holding for 30 minutes, the connection on thier side was so bad, I could barely hear what they said. I thint I was told I would receive an E-mail soon. I have still not gotten anything. I tried again to call Customer Care but I got a message that the wait time is more than 45 minutes, which probibly means one hour +. It should be called Customer-Don't -Care. I will never order anything from Lowes again! It is a month since the order. I would cancel, but I can't find what I need anywhere else! read more

I have purchased all my appliances with this store through the years and every time I do something is wrong! I kept going back because they have "free delivery " well you get what you pay for, lowes is awful. First, let's start with my fridge, they delivered it couldn't get door on and after a few attempts they told me they had to leave with one door offfff! I called lowes they did nothing!!!! I had to have my husband put door on!!!! Now , last March 2021 my dryer broke soo I went and purchased a dryer it was $900 so not cheap, they make u purchase new vent, when delivered they didn't use it said I didn't need it, sooooo my husband replaced it himself, the dryer is 8 months old and does not dry clothes and so I called today no one answered for half hour, so I drove up there and the manager said there is nothing he could do, you only have 30 days!!!! 30 days?
