Appointment scheduled for Tuesday morning. My washing machine smells like gear oil, tech said he was unable to access under the agitator (bolt on 2023 washer has already seized?) and that I was using too much detergent; he gave me an Affresh tablet and started the "clean" cycle. Said there was nothing to indicate an oil leak. Throughout the week, the washer still smells of gear oil, and on Saturday morning my husband turned the washing machine on its side, unscrewed a cover, and there is gear oil leaking out from the bottom. The agitator did not need to come off; nothing would be visible. Parts can only be accessed from the bottom of the machine. Sent photos and a text to Handler, and they thanked me for the update and said nothing else. Not sure why I paid for a service call/diagnostic fee to tell me nothing was wrong, when clearly something is very wrong. Part on order. App is easy to use, and tech was on time and extremely polite, however: Will absolutely not use this service again, or recommend. read more

Do not use this repair co, I need service on my whirlpool drier. The technician found the problem Immediately, The switch on the door that shuts off the spinning was broken and needed to be replaced. 5 minutes later a new switch was Put in and the drier was working. And then came the shock when I was presented with the bill for $330.00 after the $129.00 service charge was deducted. What a chutzpah. Had this company come in to repair a broken spring on my French door refrigerator - was told $175 to walk in the door -charged me $365.00 to repair a part that cost maybe $25.00 and (I I timed him) 3 minutes to put in. Good service but then charged $600 for 30 minute service plus added $100 to the price of the part ( I looked it up at the manufacturer) then made excuses when questioned about it. The repair tech didn't really seem to know what it was, but made a guess, replaced the interior basket and all seemed fine. THAT COST ME $600. Now, less than 90 days after the repair, Handler tells me their guarantee is only 30 days. Not on any paperwork, not communicated to me, and they want me to pay AGAIN to fix what I already paid for. If I could give zero stars I would. I called this company after seeing positive reviews on Nextdoor--won't do that again. My dryer, an older GE, wasn't heating at all. A technician came out and took a quick look at it and told me the problem was a slit in the exhaust hose--which I now realize doesn't even make sense. That kind of thing might make a dryer not retain heat but mine was not hot at all. He replaced the exhaust hose--which I could have done myself for about $20, told me everything was in good working order, charged me $319, and left. I happened to come down with the flu the next day so didn't attempt to use the dryer again till a few days later. No heat whatsoever. None. I googled Dryer Not Heating and learned several reasons why this might be happening, none of which the technician ever mentioned. I feel like I was scammed. They of course wanted to send another serviceman out but after what I experienced I don't want anything more to do with them. Disputed the charge on my CC. read more

Handler Appliance was recommended by Viking to fix a problem with our oven. The rep Carlos came out to the house. He was very kind and professional and diagnosed the problem very quickly. He had the part to fix the problem in his truck. He replaced the part and everything worked well when he left for a visit that was less than an hour shown on our cameras confirming his visit time. He left the old part he removed at the house. We got our first invoice about an 1/2 hour latter for 900.01 which we put on a credit card. No details on the first invoice, I asked for a more detailed invoice to see exactly what we were paying for which was emailed over to us. We were charged 284.37 for the part and 560.00 dollars for the LABOR. We found 2 prices for the part 48.00 and 171.69 for the exact part. The labor charge was out of control and ridiculous. We have had plumbers and electricians out to the house that do not charge that much for labor for any job that takes that same amount of time. It makes NO SENCE to charge this much for labor. To say you have travel time to get to the location is ridiculous as well. Yes the skills and expertise to fix appliances takes a lot of talent no doubt. But these are not neuro surgeons performing surgeries. Not a great way to build your business charging this much for LABOR !!! 5 stars to Carlos. 1 star for the labor charge. read more

Came out to house three times before issue was diagnosed correctly. Had us pay over $700 for a part that most likely wasn't the issue. If it was diagnosed correctly the first time we would've only had to pay for a part which should've been the first thing replaced, and was significantly less. We actually had to call them to tell them what we thought the issue was, and we were correct. AND...the technician who was here working on the repair twice before, ordered a KitchenAid part for our Thermador saying she thought it was a KitchenAid. I heard the owner, who was with her this third time, correct her to say no, it's not a KitchenAid, it's a Thermador/Bosch. He then said to me they saved us a ton of money by ordering the KitchenAid part, not admitting it was ordered in error by technician. Never will use again read more

We have an old Kenmore dryer which stopped drying the clothes. We were dismayed to find there are no longer dryers on the market that will clear our narrow, steep basement stairs. We needed someone who could repair our old one or it was the laundromat/clothesline for us. Fortunately, we found Handler. Moses arrived promptly and very quickly and expertly solved the problem. He stayed around to see if the heat maintained after he's replaced a part and then told me to call him immediately if it gave me anymore trouble. This is the FIRST negative review I have EVER written as I take them very seriously and I prefer to work things out directly with the vendor in almost all cases. In this case, however, I feel extremely taken advantage of by HANDLER APPLIANCE. Just because you are the only vendor in town does not mean you have to price gauge your clients. I paid their $197 invoice without question to repair the soap dispenser tray on my ASKO dishwasher. They did get my soap tray closing for a few wash cycles but then the original problem of staying open quickly persisted. I called back and was quoted $500 to replace the part and install the new one minus the $100 for the original appointment so an additional $400 out of pocket. At that time I decided to purchase the soap tray myself as it was $20 cheaper directly from the manufacturer. I then called them back 3 weeks later to install it and they quoted me a price of $275 for a job they told me would take under an hour. However now, they told me they have a 1 month policy where they apply the $100 from the first appointment and now I was past this time frame. (My original call when they thought I was ordering the over priced soap dish with them was also after 1 month of my first appointment and there was no mention of the 1 month timeline from anyone) On the contrary, THEIR invoice reads, "This serves as written documentation for our one year warranty on repair and parts performed for this job" However, somewhere between Dec 1 and Jan 1 they shortened this one year application to 1 month. When I respectfully questioned this discrepancy, they sent me an email stating the were no longer willing to install the part on my dishwasher!!!! If there are ANY other companies that service your appliances I would certainly start there. It is just not nice, and certainly not good business to take advantage, of your customers because you think you can. Their receptionist was also quite rude but I guess that is to be expected given the way this family business is run. read more

The amount this company charged us was insane. We were told it was going to take a couple of hours to replace our fridge gasket. When he (Moses)arrived he literally had the job done in 15 min. The gasket was less than $100 and he charged us close to $350 in labor. So basically $1400 per hour ? It's insane. I called the office, I was told that they charge per job by industry standards. I asked for a call back never got one. Btw the invoice we received does not show a breakdown on labor and material. Just the cost of the gasket and then monies received. Our fridge stopped working last night, and after calling a few places that all told me soonest was Saturday (2 additional days of waiting), Handler's office person called around and was able to find a technician that would be able to swing by the same day. Fortunately, my fridge problem was just ice in the circulating fan, so they were able to fix it in just a few minutes. If 2020 hasn't been bad enough Isaais took it up a notch up. We lost power for about 24 hours but when it came back on our fridge wasn't working right (the damper ended up breaking so there was no air going to the fridge side.). We called a few places on a Tuesday and they all said Friday or Saturday. We called Handler and they said Thursday. We asked if they could come any earlier being that we didn't have a fridge and they squeezed us in that day. They truly went above and beyond to help us out and get our fridge working as soon as possible. Moses was absolutely amazing and I can not thank him enough for all of his help. He got our fridge up and running correctly within 15 minutes. I should also add with everything going on Moses arrived in a mask which was relieving as well. I made sure to get their card to keep it on the fridge bc of how fair priced and honest he was. My Freezer was fkooding the kitchen floor all of a sudden at night and Moses came the very next day even though my window of availability was quite small and sporatic. He was courteous and knowledgeable and explained everything along the way. He easily could have dooped me into replacing my ice maker, but instead he fussed with it, returned it to the freezer and asked me to watch it patienly throughout the next day to see if what he did solved the problem.
