Once again ACE Appliance Repair has come through. The timer knob on my washing machine broke off. Steve from ACE came over and explained that since the manufacturer no longer had this part for my 25+ year-old machine, he would do what he could to find it elsewhere. It was possible the part could not be obtained. The next day Steve came back with a replacement knob found in ACE's inventory. I got it at least a week sooner than expected. What a nice surprise. I called for a repair on my dryer. I asked for an estimate or at the very least a list of their fees. Was told that the service call was $95.00 plus parts and labor. Which is somewhat reasonable until you dive deeper into the labor cost which they would not divulge. The rep stated that it was based on the project. Every service company should have a standard labor rate for first hour and there after. Very disappointing and I would just recommend anyone interested in Ace Appliance to know upfront what you may be getting yourself into. We have a Bosch dishwasher showing an E09 error. Steve came to look at it and he was very personable and seemed quite experienced and knowledgeable. He suggested a new drain motor as the first step, and I went ahead with the repair. He swapped in the new drain motor and cautioned me that there could be an additional issue to address (potentially a drain line swap due to clogging). I understood this and was willing to work through an interative troubleshooting process. The dishwasher showed the same error code. I called Ace Appliance again stating I would like to proceed with the next step. The polite receptionist has taken my details several times and states that she needs to speak with the mechanic. After a little back and forth, we scheduled another appointment to replace the motor with the heating element. I had a 18 year old Lg French door refrigerator that all of the sudden gave out on me. What was strange was that the freezer was working fine but the fridge itself wasn't. I found ace appliance repair here on yelp and Google with exceptional reviews so I decided to give them a call. Marc was excellent! He was able to make it to my house the same day (even earlier than the scheduled time) and started getting to work right away. He discovered that the refrigerator we had was jerryrigged in such a weird way (by the masterminds of the previous owners probably) and was so surprised it lasted so long and that it wasn't worth fixing and that we should invest in a new one. He closed it up and got the fridge working again however warned us its a temporary fix. I definitely appreciated his open honesty instead of trying to push me to spend extra money on something on its last legs. He was very nice and knowledgeable. I'm giving it 2 stars because my family called them to look at a fridge. When the first young kid opened the freezer door he immediately said wow Idk what this is I can't fix this im just a helper. So there we establish he has no idea what's going on (which is fine at the moment) the other worker comes and has basically the same thing to say. They call the owner. And without any clue they quote 3500 dollars. Called 2 companies after and both were between 500-700. The other company told us what to do and give it a few days. Came by and fixed the issue for 380.00. They were blindly charging 10 times the amount- responding to your response, get this pal my families home is in totowa not Clifton that's me. I had a problem with a GE clothes washer. I called Ace for an appointment, describing the problem and I was told they didn't work on what they believed the problem to be but it's not worth the repair cost, buy a new washer (which costs $1,049 + tax). Someone recommended I call GE's own Appliance Service. A very knowledgeable repair tech came out, diagnosed the problem, ordered the parts, came out a second time to do the repair which worked. The estimated cost was $377 including tax (parts shipping was free). The actual cost was $305 in total. It was an intricate, time consuming job, but isn't repair what Ace is in the business of doing? read more

Our LG dryer suddenly stopped working and was only a year and a half old and out of warranty. Called ACE and they came out a few days later. Steven came to do the repair and after taking apart the machine told me the ignitor was bad and probably other big parts because he tested everything (sensors & things) and doesn't know why it's not working. I asked how much the ignitor would cost to replace and if this would fix the machine, he said $235 and no it wouldn't fix it. He asked how much we paid for the dryer & I said between 500-600 dollars. When I asked him if he's suggesting we just save the money on the repair and purchase a new dryer, he said yes and recommended speed queen (which now I see he's certified for, so no surprise there). To make a long story short, he got $85 out of me for the visit, but didn't do any repair. Kinda felt like he didn't have the part and just didn't feel like doing the repair to be honest! My husband comes home and takes apart the dryer - does research and purchased a $65 LG ignitor - took 15 mins to replace, and what do you know? Machine works like new! I can't believe we were even considering purchasing a new machine off of Steven's recommendation ($800-$900 where he probably gets a kickback too!) Save your money! Will not recommend. read more
