I told him as the unit was a decade old, if it would be a major repair, I'd just replace the unit. He installed a part behind the ice maker. I wanted to use my credit card to pay the $300.00 (in the event there was an issue and to begin a dispute), but Mr. Owais stated his cellphone's credit card reader was not working. He asked that I write the check out to him. I did this, but noted the name of the business on the check too. The refrigerator continued to make the noise, and I started calling Master Service Expert's number, emailing and texting. For some time they did not respond. Finally, "Remi" called and said his brother's wife had emergency surgery. He said he would come and look at the unit. Last Tuesday, he telephoned saying the top of my street was closed due to construction, and he would return later. He never returned. I later learned that an NAPD cruiser was there ensuring traffic flow. I plan to file a small claims complaint (they are in Hasbrook Heights so it will only be a drive to Hackensack). Also, they are licensed in NJ and I will reach out to the licensing authority and provide screen shots of the MANY texts exchanged. When you call for a refrigerator repair you already have an issue and therefore are in a bind to get fixed as soon as possible - and they clearly state they have a warranty on their work so it was work the shot. Well, Certified Refrigeration answered my call, Joe the owner called me personally to get a sense of what the issue is and advise me of which tech he will send out and approximately when he will get there. He also told me what to do to prepare for the tech. Paul, one of the techs, came out within 1 hour of my call, 1 hour?! That is faster than many restaurant deliveries. Paul was great - he was technical yet personable, and well articulated. He took thorough look, explained the two possible problems and that he will need to figure out whether resolving one would fix the other or if both need to be addressed in their own right. He gave me an instant quote of how much the job would be and it was right on the mark at job completion. They also proactively replaced a few bulbs that were out and defrost timer in the refrigerator at no extra charge. Thanks Paul and Joe for saving the day!

He came within his quoted window and was 100% professional. Even my bratty dogs liked him and they don't care for strangers. His competition (Edgewater Appliance) if you can call it that was overcharging for parts and labor costs and gave an incorrect assessment of the issue to boot. Said there was nothing to indicate an oil leak. Throughout the week, the washer still smells of gear oil, and on Saturday morning my husband turned the washing machine on its side, unscrewed a cover, and there is gear oil leaking out from the bottom. The agitator did not need to come off; nothing would be visible. Parts can only be accessed from the bottom of the machine. Sent photos and a text to Handler, and they thanked me for the update and said nothing else. Not sure why I paid for a service call/diagnostic fee to tell me nothing was wrong, when clearly something is very wrong. Part on order. App is easy to use, and tech was on time and extremely polite, however: Will absolutely not use this service again, or recommend.

When the technician first came to inspect the unit, they claimed to have done a full diagnostic and gave us a final quote of around $1,000 (after tax). We agreed, thinking everything had been properly assessed. But when they came back to do the actual repair, the story completely changed. They suddenly "discovered" that the fridge door wouldn't close properly and said we would need to replace the entire door -- for several thousand dollars! After we refused that ridiculous suggestion, they said they could "repair" the door instead, but only if we paid an extra $850. At that point, with the refrigerator already taken apart, we had no real choice but to accept. This whole process felt misleading and unfair. If the technician really did a full inspection, how did such a major issue appear only later? It seemed like a classic case of bait-and-switch pricing -- quoting one number and then inflating the cost after we had already committed. We expected professionalism and transparency, especially since RJ Appliances is associated with Miele service. Instead, we were left feeling pressured, overcharged, and deceived. Warning to others: Be extremely cautious before agreeing to any quote from this company. Make sure everything is documented and confirmed in writing before you proceed.
