I was looking for just the right rug and stair treads for my 120-year-old home, which was getting a…read moremakeover. I wanted something unique and contemporary to serve as a contrast to the original hardwood floors. I had seen Liza's designs online, and decided to make the trip to her studio, which is in a renovated barn in Narrowsburg, NY. If you're fortunate enough to be exploring the Catskills, a trip to her studio is definitely in order. She has a large variety of samples to see and feel - there are many rugs as well as her Alto Steps collection of stair treads. Liza's designs are all thoughtful, ranging from straightforward to funky and whimsical. Custom orders take a few months to arrive as her pieces are made by Tibetan weavers. Liza is a pleasure to work with and she sent us home with a huge pile of different stair treads to try out. We wound up designing a rug and treads using her radio waves design and choosing our own colors. And installation is very easy. If you're in the market for floor coverings or a cool and unexpected addition to your home decor, Liza's website is definitely worth browsing. www.lizaphillipsdesign.com

We'd be broke. We have bought furniture, outdoor signs, many lamps, a number of old appliance or kitchen-type items, and never go that we don't find a number of things we like. The perfect blend of antique and rustic. Sadly, they are only open on Friday and Saturday and by coincidence, tend to be closed on the weekends we can get there (like this one). Gives us something to look forward to. The only con is the location. Off the beaten path and if you didn't know it was there, you'd have little reason to travel that road.

We stumbled upon the business on a weekend getaway to the area, and were immediately impressed with the showroom area (as well as the workroom) and how efficiently everything seemed to be laid out. We saw a prototype of a pillow with a fabric that we absolutely loved, so we placed an order that same day. The turnaround time for receipt of product was very quick, and when our pillows arrived, we were completely impressed with the quality of the work - from the layout and centering of the main graphic image, to the very nice piping/edging around the border which really elevates the pillows from those most commonly available on various internet websites. While we were in the showroom we saw some examples of the quality of workmanship in some of the finished upholstered items and felt assured we would be receiving a high-end, quality product, and we were not disappointed. We heartily recommend Sullivan Mercantile for any of your future fabric and/or upholstery needs, and we're looking forward to working with them again in the very near future.
