THE ABSOLUTE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! I came in here to buy a item. I clearly see they are busy and extremely under staffed, I work retail, I get it. What I do not get is how im patiently waiting for the 1 floor employee to finish helping a customer to ask where the electrical tape is and she points at me and says "Don't even ask me for anything I'm helping this customer and then I need to open a register" wtf kind of thing is that to say to a customer. I really like Harbor Freight, they have almost everything I need for projects that I do at home. Knowing that their tools are cheap, I would assume that the tools are low quality so I don't come here to buy power tools. Instead, I come here to buy things that are extremely difficult to break like a pry tool or something. It is also a good place to purchase consumables like painters tape, rope or shop towels. There is plenty of parking and the location is right off the first exit off the 215 after the Temecula split. The location is in the back of a shopping center. It was kind of awkward driving through an exit of a Costco gas station to get to the Harbor Freight parking lot, but it is easy to reach. If you have no money for real tools, then this place is your mecca! Be sure to utilize their coupons... if you're not using coupons or if it is not on sale, you are paying too much. read more

Went into the store in Murrieta to pick up some tools etc that I needed. Usually I can get in and out of the line without any problems. Today,about 2:00 pm, there was a gentleman who was at the cashier line and the cashier was trying to upgrade the generator that he had. I had been a former cheerleader for this business however my recent experience at store has changed my opinion. Despite yelling as if forced "welcome" when customers enter the store the checkout process is pathetic. They apparently want customers select a cashier line; rather than form one line and wait for the next available cashier. . So if you select a line in which a customer has an issue - tough luck for you. Twice I have been in this store and a cashier asks to take next customer and some fool jumps in. Now this should be handled in a professional manner with the cashier taking charge; and not position customers to serve as referees. Attempted to contact corporate offices and no luck reaching anyone by phone; so wrote an email detailing situation but no response. Despite the cheap free giveaways; try Lowes, Home Depot or Ace Hardware Revisited and nothing has changed with their check out system. Went up to an available cashier and she looks at me and says I'm closed; go to the next cashier. I suppose one should be psychic how is a customer to know if closed - no signage; no lights. Entered next cashier line and noticed two customers after checked out before me - dumb; non customer oriented process of selecting a line. I purchased a funnel set for . Great prices on some great items. Good stock on variety to choose from, great place to shop if you just need basic hardware. The major complaint is the customer service, or lack their of, at the checkout. Some people are nice, some are okay and others need to find a new job. Honestly if you don't like where you work, go somewhere else. The checkout lines are usually never fast, and the coupons don't help. It's frustrating when you have checkers that don't care, and loads of people digging around for coupons to save a buck that make a 2 minute transaction take 5 or more minutes to complete. I'll still continue to shop there, but it would be nice to see management caring a little more about their customer satisfaction. read more

People like to refer to Harbor Freight Tools as "temporary tools," but I've had a pretty good experience with them. I've had multiple jack stands, jacks, etc and have never had anything fail. This place also has free coupons in the mail ALL THE TIME. I've probably accumulated 15 free flashlights, several magnetic trays, and more measuring tapes than I could use. Tools that you should get here instead of Home Depot or Lowes: -Hammers/Sledge hammers -Shovels/Gardening tools -Dollies (Standing and rolling) -Moving blankets -Automotive jacks/Jack stands -Bolt/nut organizers (Only several bucks for decent ones) -Zip ties -Why am I making a list? Most of the stuff here is better priced and quality is pretty similar anyway (except impact drivers, drills, etc). Reasonable selection of affordable tools and equipment. They don't carry name brand anything, as far as I can tell, even if you are willing to pay for quality. So use your discretion and maybe avoid purchasing mission critical items here. Great for basic supplies and items where all brands are very similar in build quality, such as basic wrenches and screwdrivers, tape, tie downs, bolts, etc. Also good if you need something and are on a strict budget that does not allow for a name brand item to be purchased at all. In that case you can find something that'll do the job for less in a pinch. read more

We bought a tool chest on presale in December, they said it would be ready for pickup in about 2 weeks. 2 1/2 months later, and still no tool chest. The staff never seems to know when the shipments come in, we have gotten a different answer from every person we've talked to. The last person my husband talked to was rude and condescending. Now they claim the shipment is there but they have no one to unload. So over this and ready to request a refund. This is why stores like this are going under and amazon is taking over. read more

Look closely at their adds. They show you their price vs "Compared To" price (another company's product). They say that the difference is your savings. That's not true, you're still paying HF price for their product....you're not buying the other company's product at HF price. When they have sales, look carefully at the ad. Once again, they show their original price, their sale price and the "Compare To" price. They indicate your savings as their original price vs the Compare To price, not their sale price. read more

Was dreading going to Harbor Freight this morning on my own, needed to get a tool cart for my son in law for Christmas. I was greeted when I walked in, saw the cart that was advertised, went to the cashier and presented my coupon, paid for it, she called to the back to have it brought up to the front, a very pleasant man brought it quickly and loaded it into the back of my car! Stupid return policy: I bought 2 items at this Harbor Freight Tools in Murrieta and paid with a combination of store credit and my credit card. When I returned 1 item, they refunded with store credit first and the balance to my credit card. I asked for all of the refund to go to the credit card because the amount I had paid with credit card in the original receipt was more than the price of the returned item. But the clerk refused. I talked to the manager and he refused, too. I had to come back to return the second item to get the rest of my money back to the credit card. I then bought back the second item using the store credit. In the end, I got rid of the store credit but the whole thing was a waste of my time and their time. I know of no other store with this refund policy. I don't know if this is corporate policy or it's just the people running this store. I won't return to this store run by stupid people. read more

He takes it back thinking he could get a better one but they won't give you store credit or let you get a different tool. Terrible customer service. Drove all the way there to find out I have to order the toolbox because they don't keep inventory of it and the website doesn't say so. They tell me they will call me within 10 days for pick up. I call 13 days later after not hearing anything and find out it has been sitting there for 5 days but no one has taken the 2 minutes to call me. And their only response is "sorry". Went to the Murrieta location today. Nicely laid out, trying to check out was a nightmare with a lady, I think her name was Bobbi. Insisting that without my phone number returning the item would be impossible! I don't think so. I returned to the Murrieta store and explained I had bought it a few months earlier and only used it twice. I was told my warranty had expired and I should have bought a extended warranty. The store is decent with mediocre to decent items. The bad review is customer service which is the worth as it can get. I purchase a impact wrench gun that was cheap and rightfully so, but this is a different review. When I wanted to return it I lost the receipt, but I'm on their system so I figure they can find it and all is good. Not so. The teller which is an older fellow was nice and polite, but the manager which looks like she in her early 20th was pure b-ch. They could not find me on the system, and even when I showed her the email confirmation that I got from them she did not budge and offered me a 20% re-stocking fee to a gift card. I was surprise since gift card meant I still spend my money there so why the penalty. The cost is very minimal and I would easily just trash it and would be fine, but it is the it is the principal of things as of customer service. I told the manager that I will give them a bad review and her respond was "I don't own the store so I don't care". As a business owner I would have fire her on the spot since reviews are important to businesses as they tell the customer experience. This is quite a shame since the 20% "restocking" fee cost is ONLY $4.00 and now i'm not happy, they got bad review, and I will avoid their store from now on. read more

Love that this place is operating during the pandemic. After my report they going change they way they do business with illegal stacking fees. Harbor freight illegal stocking fees was not discussed to me when purchased the product at the registered otherwise I would not purchase the scanner. Harbor freight employees are trained to rip customers off on high restocking fees, I would like then to know that State law governs whether retailers Harbor Freight may charge restocking fees when customers return defective merchandise. I the customer was NOT notified of the store's return policies and any restocking fees, just 90 day return the item, this must be disclosed before the purchase is made. This was not disclosed as Restocking fees must be reasonable and may not be so high as to discourage customers like myself from returning defective merchandise. Additionally, restocking fees must be related to the actual cost of restocking the item. They are being charged in connection with the return of defective merchandise; which is illegal. I bought a generator that had a broken wheel, and when I decided to return it they had a restocking fee of 20%. When asked if they could waive this fee because I literally took the generator out of the box, saw the broken wheel, and put it back, they refused. IT COST ME $150 TO RETURN A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. 2/15/2020: huge ICON master technician tool storage - great display at the store, sturdy build, & lots of features; does not have soft close drawer slides. Rude, confrontational, entitled generation floor person at Murrieta store does not like anyone opening & closing the drawers; falsely claims drawers were being slammed - several witnesses were present. I informed the manager & one of several witness corroborated the event. HF, put some signage on it - If "... you don't have '$20,000.00', you can't look at it or touch it, lock all the drawers, post some pictures of what's inside, post a video display or a features sheet handout ..." You will not find makita, milwaukee, or dewalt quality here. Their tools are for simple around the house jobs. Not construction sites. Bought a work bench that serves its purpose. Many people come in clueless as to what they're looking for, so you better have tool knowledge or you're in trouble. The 20% off coupon is excellent. They can scan it on your phone. Lines are worse at HD and Lowes , but this place has a ton of customers being a fraction of the size of HD and Lowes, and the constant sales brings the lines. For the savings it's worth it read more

I will never go to this store again. I bought what said contractor grade trash bags for my construction business. They were extremely low quality. We used two of them and they ripped out the bottom not even half full of lightweight debris. I figured since it was a brand exclusively carried by Harbor freight they would have no problem returning them for me once I explained. Unfortunately I was way wrong. The cashier and the manager both said without a receipt they would not even give me a store credit. I brought back both boxes with only two bags missing and pointed to where they stock them on the shelf. The manager even said, "I know they are ours but I cannot do anything without a receipt."
