SO happy we chose this spot! Service is stupendous: friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable, fun. The Kare-Kare is amazing: the peanut sauce was delectable, and the braised beef just seemed to melt away. Love the green mango salad. Julienne cut mango, perfectly ripened for the dressing for a not-too-sweet blend of flavorings. Perfect. Can accommodate gluten-free. I'll be back again very soon. read more

Should you eat here? My recommendation is: Yes, if you've stopped by every "New American" eatery in Ashland and want to relive your youthful visit to the Philippines and can't find any other place. No, if you're expecting perfect execution of the classics. Half of what you'd eat here, is more along the lines of "Pinoy-inspired". If you go here, be aware: - There is no fish sauce on the table - There is no vinegar chili sauce on the table - There is no salt on the table - A lot of the dishes here are missing many, many traditional ingredients. Many of which can be pre-stocked ahead of time or grown locally, so there shouldn't be a good reason why these dishes shouldn't have at least 50% of the base requirements. Adobo Chicken Seasoned and fairly traditional tasing with a good bit of seasoning and flavor. IMO lacking some tanginess, but that's a family style preference and can change from place to place. Green Mango Salad Has all the ingredients of a green mango salad but lacks the most important ingredient; shrimp paste and a pinch of salt. Kare-Kare Avoid this dish. I ordered this because one of the first photos showed shank bones (shank or flank is used as an acceptable replacement for what is traditionally Ox tail), so I was fully expecting something of that nature, especially considering shank is plentiful in this area. The meat added was very dry slices. The base lacked salt and fat during the cooking process, so it came out very bland. The string beans were boiled (again without any salt). String beans in this dish are traditionally served fresh, or if you cook them, you cook them in the broth, and/or pre cook them with some type of sodium on a pan and thrown into the pot. And because the base lacked fat that would have come from shank or ox tails, the base really suffered. Another missing ingredient was shrimp paste, and braised eggplant. Very disappointing. Sinigang Don't order this. This dish tased like water with a little bit of tamarind powder. This dish is missing so many ingredients: Taro root, okra, chili, fish sauce, fresh tamarind, water spinach. Powder is fine but it's missing so much that makes this dish unique and flavorful. Also note that this place is on the pricier side, so not getting the basics right hurt a little more than just the wallet. read more

It had been years since I had Kare Kare and Harana did not disappoint. The beef was delicately braised and tender swimming in a rich and flavorful peanut sauce with green beans and bok choy. The pancit was also very tasty and both dishes were enhanced by their house made fish paste and chili sauce. The dirty mango ice cream for dessert was really creamy and delicious. They had a really interesting cocktail and natural wine list too. Highly recommend! read more

Visiting the area, we were looking for something better than the average stupid restaurants. The food and service were outstanding. Small menu but well prepared and very tasty contemporary style preparations. Don't forget the cold ice tea. I wish that we were closer by. We would be here all the time. I hear that breakfast is soon on its way. Great job Harana Cafe... you gotta check this place out. read more

This might have been the only Filipino restaurant in town, but it's all we needed. We must have dined at Harana Cafe 3 times during our 3 day visit to Ashland. Couldn't help ourselves because the cuisine was absolutely fantastic and the fact that they offered pet friendly outdoor seating was a nice bonus. read more

The pancit was unexpectedly thick noodles in a wet, soupy sauce with skimpy scallops. I prefer thin vermicelli noodles dry stir fried. Beef mami was tasty but also in a soupy sauce. Service very attentive. Indoor seating was too cold a/c wearing tshirts. Took 1of 3 tables outside in the hallway acceptable but not most pleasant ambiance read more

There isn't a single two or one star rating for a reason. The flavor and nourishment that they create is profound. Atchara is like grandma's recipe quality, whether it is or not they can confirm. The Beef Mami Noodles blew my mind. The sauce is delicious, I think there is anise in it and it is worthy of an every time order. This food and establishment are A+. Inside is tight and homey, service was courteous and kind. read more

3.5 stars Coming from the Bay Area and familiar with Filipino food out in Daly City, my standards are a bit high. I will say they use good ingredients and their dishes are not as greasy as traditional Filipino foods I've had. We got the Harana for two, which had chicken adobo, lumpia, atchara (pickled veggies), jasmine rice and an order of the sisig pork belly. I was a bit disappointed with the sisig because the pork was dry. It could be their style, but it could have been way better if the meat wasn't so dehydrated. The flavor and egg was good though. Chicken adobo was better, the mushrooms they used was very good and soaked the flavor well. One of the chicken pieces was slightly over done and a tad dry, but the other was fall off the bone. Lumpia was good, pretty standard. Their Atchara was quite tiny and wish they offered more as it went very well with their dishes. read more

A truly exciting addition to the Ashland food scene. The menu feels intentional and creative, with combinations that are thoughtful and far from predictable. You can tell there's real care behind the flavor development. The "For 2" dish is such a smart way to experience multiple components of the menu --beautifully composed and perfect for sharing. And the Beef Miami? Genuinely unforgettable. The depth of flavor, the richness, the balance, it's indulgent without being heavy, bold without overwhelming the palate. It's one of those dishes that makes you pause mid-bite. Service is quick and efficient with a walk-up, pay-first setup that keeps things casual and streamlined. The vibe is relaxed and low-key, usually not crowded, which makes for a really enjoyable dining experience. That said, I almost wish it had more buzz because the food absolutely deserves the recognition. Portions lean slightly smaller, so I'd recommend ordering an appetizer along with your entrée to get the full experience. With food this thoughtful and well-executed, it's worth exploring more of the menu anyway. Overall, a creative and refreshing presence in Ashland that feels chef-driven and inspired. Definitely a spot worth supporting and revisiting. read more

3.5 stars. We arrived shortly after they opened at 5 and there was already a line to order. We were greeted right away, handed menus and waited at the counter to place our order. Randy ordered the pork bbq and I ordered the chicken adobo. We started with a lumpia order and Randy got a sprite. We were handed a number and seated ourselves. They have a big container of cold water and glasses self serve. There are seats inside and out. We ate inside because it was a very hot day. The lumpia was so good. Best we've ever had but we've only had it a few times. They were full of delicious meat, not greasy, served with a sweet chili sauce (I can't handle spicy and this wasn't spicy at all). I loved my chicken adobo. It comes with two chicken thighs and I am thrilled to report the meat was excellent quality, full of flavor and fall off the bone tender. I almost never order a dish that comes with thighs because I've had so many awful experiences with fatty, gristly meat. Not the case here. This dish alone will absolutely have me coming back. Randy loved it too - much more than his pork bbq which is the main reason for the 3.5 star rating. He describes it as tough, a caramelized, hard to get through crust, and fatty and he doesn't understand the purpose of the chili strand - it didn't really add flavor or spice. Another reason for the star rating is the cost for what you get. The pork bbq was $20 and it was two kabobs. Neither meal came with rice - it was separate and needed. For a place that has you line up to order at a counter like a fast food place to charge so much for not a lot of food is a turn off. That said, the counter employee and the woman (owner?) were both very friendly and helpful and you can tell they take pride in what they do. We're in the area at least three times a year so I'll say we would likely come back. We would order the Harana for two, pay almost half what we paid tonight and leave very satisfied. read more

Harana Cafe is small, clean and simply decorated, but don't be fooled: the food is deeply flavorful and incredibly fresh. Don't miss the chicken adobo and mami beef - they are both stellar. We also tried the calamansi tea which was a new flavor for us but delicious. The owner comes around to check on folks, which is a delightful touch. Enjoy! read more

Cute little spot downtown Ashland. Food was good, a little pricy in my opinion but it was tasty. My noodles were hard in my dish. I am use to al dente but these were more than that. I ate everything else and took the soup home. I ate alone with an app and soup and it was $35 so I probably won't go back but if you can afford it it's worth a visit. Staff was nice read more

Well buckle up because my bestie and I went here two times within 24 hours. The food was UNREAL! My understanding of desserts have been completely redefined. The halo halo and Buko Pandan are now my favorite treats to have. The level of comfort and intentionality in every dish was perfect. Highly recommend getting the lumpia and sisig together. The textures and flavors complement eachother perfect. I was shocked at the elegance of the milk tea cocktail. Teresita is the delightfully hospitible owner who constantly was walking around and checking on everyone to ensure they were getting everything they needed. The colors and minimalist decor left a perfect canvas for exceptional flavors to be had. read more

Masarap talaga! That means it's really delicious. We love to stop in Ashland for meals when we drive to/from CA from Eugene and came across this gem. Filipino food in Ashland?! Yup. And it's really good. Food is obvs masarap (again, delicious), and Teresita, the owner and counter service/waitstaff is super friendly. Expect casual cafe style where the food is the highlight. The menu seems to rotate and Specials really are special...meaning it's there once in a while so don't miss out. I missed out on lechon....roast pork which only is around during really special occasions like weddings, milestone birthdays, etc on our way to CA, but had the savory chicken adobo with aromatic jasmine rice, side of archaea, and lumpia. We had halo-halo for dessert. These are basics. One must get the basics well. Did we go back? Heck yes. On your way back I savored the beef mami and my husband loved the BBQ pork. And we ordered the special of the day, which was a dessert: cassava. Harana Cafe made me feel I've had a quick visit to the Philippines. Well done. read more

We're regulars here, for good reason! The food is consistently delicious, the service is warm and friendly, and they have uncommonly good wines for this category of cuisine. We like the Pancit Miki (seafood noodles), the Chicken Adobo, and the complexly-flavored Kare-Kare (braised beef with peanut sauce). The Squash and Coconut Stew is worth ordering even if you're not vegetarian or Keto. And, the Lumpia appetizers are popular. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. read more

I wish I could give 6 out of 5 star reviews. Also, I wish I had photos. The food was so incredible both in taste and presentation that our group was absorbed in it all and forgot to document! Oh, darn, I guess we will have to go back asap. Harana is the perfect combination of classic, family recipes with a modern, elevated twist. The ambiance is familial and friendly and the service is warm and welcoming. My family ordered one of everything. It was hard to pick a favorite. Adobo, Pork Belly Sisig, and Kare Kare were stand outs. The lumpia was delicious. Try it all! read more

This place has the sweetest family run small restaurant vibe that I loved. The weakest part of the experience was the slow service although every dish when it got delivered was done with a smile. We finished each dish before the next one came out, with the appetizer coming in the middle. Good thing we were sharing. I was excited to try some filipino dishes beyond my standard experience with Lumpia and Adobo so it was exciting to try the Pork Belly Sisig and the Kare Kare. The 63 degree egg in the Sisig was divine with a gorgeous silken texture to the yolk. And I'm always a fan of crispy pork belly although I could have used a little spicy sauce for dipping. The beef shank is not one of my fave cuts but the presentation was nice and the peanut sauce on top delicious. The ubod crepe tasted fresh and I especially enjoyed the crisp texture of the jicama. read more

Watch out, high-end Filipino places like Magna Kusina. You're being lapped by a hole-in-the-wall in Southern Oregon. We went back tonight to repeat check our last visit, and all was at least as good. We had again the lumpia--fresh, clearly hand-made--pork belly appetizer (tokwa't baboy), and beef with noodles (beef mami). We added the pork belly main (sisig pork belly) to round it out. All were excellent, and we sense very authentic. Old Fashioneds are top-notch. Milk tea was excellent, a little more citrus than I like. The Beef Mami paired with an Old Fashioned is the way to go if you can't decide. Service was charming. The owner is a peach, and seriously into making sure everyone is happy. If you can be in Ashland when they are open, definitely stop by. read more

Harana has just opened and it is an absolute gem. Welcome to Ashland! Walk in and order at the counter, you can see and smell the dishes as they come up from the kitchen to the left. Counter service was helpful in choosing and making selections. Patience and kindness! We started with the lumpia- a pyramid of six hot perfectly seasoned appetizers. Gone in a flash. My husband had the pork belly that was juicy and crisp and the poached egg was cooked as if by magic. Gooey deliciousness. The barbecue pork was excellent with strings of saffron. The rice for both our dishes were fluffy and the perfect amount of sticky. Next time we'll save room for what looked like beautiful dessert! What a amazing addition to Ashlands food scene read more

Really good food-I had not had Filipino food before so didn't know what to expect. It was savory and spicy without being fiery which I appreciated. We had "Harana for Two", perfect amount of food for two adults to share. Friendly service and good location, especially for Festival goers-just a couple of short blocks away. Clean and nicely decorated inside, also has outside seating tucked in from the sidewalk. Will definitely return next time we're in Ashland! read more

I was in Ashland a few nights for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and found this Filipino family gem on Yelp! It was a quick 5-minute walk from the theaters so I went twice for dinner in between shows. I loved the sandwich board out front with "Kain na!" (Let's eat!) which reminded me of home. The owner Teresita was very caring and attentive, going around making sure customers were enjoying their meal. I agree with the reviews, the food did not disappoint! Compliments to the chef, Teresita's son. Her grandson works there too. I had the lumpia/eggrolls and mango salad the first night. The salad was fresh and tasty. The lumpia was pretty standard. If it wasn't good, I wouldn't have come back! The following night, my last night, I ordered the Kare-Kare which is like a slow-cooked beef stew with fresh veggies (bokchoy, string beans and mushrooms) in a creamy peanut buttery sauce. I was expecting oxtail but it was a boneless leaner meat dish, less fatty which is healthier. I would've loved some eggplant but it was pretty hearty without. I enjoyed it like I was taught, mixed with the rice and eaten with spoon and fork! The Halo-Halo (mix-mix) for dessert looked tempting. I'll save that for next time. Highly recommend for the food, service and support of local Filipino family business!!! Kain na! read more
