Happy's Snack Bar is there to meet and fill that hunger need. Located on the back side of the Hale Koa right by the pool closest to the beach, this is casual outdoor dining. The menu has fried chicken, pizza, burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, salads, fish & chips, and daily special "plate lunches". You're at the beach so you know they've got ice cream and huge soft-serve "flavor swirls" at that! Food is ok but pricey. The staff is what gives this place a 2. Sometimes they are nice but other times they are rude and mean. Some will cook your food to order while others force you to take old food that has been sitting around. Ice cream is good - so are the burgers. Very basic food- fried chicken, hot dogs, pre packaged tuna sandwiches. Food is surprisingly tasty HOWEVER THE NAME IS A MISNOMER! Obviously the employees are very unhappy and take it out by abusiveness toward the customers. The staff at the rest of the restaurants and venues are outstanding and go out of their way to be pleasant and helpfull. Perhaps "Grumpy's" is a more appropiate name for this snack bar. read more

Oh, Happy's! I miss you. You have delicious beachside snack food; breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Your prices, especially for Waikiki, are incredibly reasonable. I ate here several times during my stay at the Hale Koa, but as a previous reviewer mentioned, you don't have to be a guest at the hotel to eat at this particular snack bar - so I highly encourage you to try it out! There is a large selection of food for all meals and the menu has practically everything. Definitely try the ice cream, it's a favorite of everyone there... Chocolate, vanilla, or swirled ice cream cone for only $1.95, you can't beat that! read more

Eat food here everytime we come down to the pool for the day. Over all decent food, good prices...variety of sandwiches, wraps, burgers, hot dogs. Always has 2 hot entrees that come with mac salad and rice or french fries...one hot dish is the fried chicken (which is really good) and the other is whatever the special of the day is. This is the best restaurant at hale koa (besides the luau food). Although the only thing I get here is the breakfast sunrise platter (Portuguese sausage, egg, rice, and toast) with a side of spam. I also get spam musubi here for a snack for later. My fiancé got the huevos rancheros and said it was just ok. So the four stars are for the breakfast platter only! I love spam and rice! read more

Thank goodness for yelp. We wanted cheap quick good on Waikiki which is not easy to find. This place is just off the beach. Food is great! I had the pulled pork sandwich and my wife had the loco mocco, a basket if onion rings to share and both of us got the pineapple coconut smoothy for $24.75. We're both stuffed now, but only have a short walk back to the Hilton Hawaiian village (it's just at the neighboring resort). Highly recommend if you want a quick bite to eat and don't want to spend all your money on food. read more

Burgers and fries adequate, ice cream is tasty. Cut fruit was always good. But I got a salad and it was full of dirt! With rat lungworm being a problem recently, one would think they would be extra careful washing produce. When I brought the salad back, I was told no refunds and basically good luck. It was after the movies and an early dinner (6PM). My cousin and our auntie wanted ice cream all of a sudden while we were walking along waikiki beach and watching the sunset. So we stopped around the Hale Koa hotel and saw Happy's and saw some girls coming out with these tall chocolate/vanilla swirled ice cream cones. The other two got tempted so we went inside to get one. The inside looks exactly like a cafeteria, cold, steel, chrome, and some blue tiles. I kinda excepted that since Hale Koa is a military-based hotel. Well, we found the ice cream station at the end of the counter. There was the choice of vanilla, chocolate, or the chocolate/vanilla swirl. We got one chocolate/vanilla swirl for all 3 of us to share (with 3 spoons, of course) since it was big and we did not expect it to be any good. Surprise! It was one of the best ice cream cone any of us ever had. It wasn't too milky or too sweet like some other places. It was so smooth that once you took a spoon to your mouth it just melts into yummy goodness and down your throat. And it was only $1.95 with no tax needed. However, the cone itself sucked. It's like those very cheap ice cream cones you buy from the supermarket for $1 a pack. So I didn't like biting into that cone. read more

Like everyone else has said here - great little snack shop right along Waikiki beach. We were staying next door at the Hilton, and the prices here at Happy's are FANTASTIC compared to anything at the Hilton! ;) Portions were often generous. I loved the bbq pulled pork sandwich, and also the ahi poke. In a beach city filled with over-priced touristy restaurants, happy's is a nice little find for a quick, cheap meal. Burgers are in the $5-$6 range, which is dirt cheap for this area. I don't know about access from the road, but there are plenty of signs pointing to it from the beach side. This place has garbage for food. I'm truly disappointed and would happily pay more for better quality food. The Hale Koa has an amazing facility, but their food options are desperately lacking. It's such a shame. My toddler isn't a picky eater at all and he refused to finish 1/2 of his cheese burger. He literally just kept pushing it away and throwing it on the ground. Whenever we stay at the Hale Koa, Happy's is a great place to get a quick bite. They have a good variety on their menu. We were able to get a yummy Loco Moco one night and I was able to get a much needed iced coffee and pastry in the morning. Prices are good and the food is good. Also being able to pick up a quick bite then head to the beach is a huge plus! read more

Happy's definitely lives up to its name - it definitely made me happy. Or rather, my stomach. After seeing a previous reviewer, I decided to try the fish & chips. The meal did not disappoint - crispy fish fillets with a flaky center and a generous amount of fries. Along Waikiki beach in Hale Koa hotel. It is right next to Hilton Hawaiian village. Good basic foods(breakfast too). Most warm foods are made to order. I stumbled upon this place finding a quick breakfast for me and my family. Their is a place outside to sit and eat. The best thing are the prices! 2.95 for a basket of fries and 5.95 for chef salad. They have burgers, pizza, salads, even spam musubi! Reasonable prices for being along the beach. Places like pronto pickle(in Hilton) are tourist traps for selling food. 8 bucks for a side order of fries? 13 bucks for a burger? U gotta be kidding me. You can't beat the price, and the choices for a snack bar. They have daily specials like roast beef and gravy, and garlic shrimp. A small fry is $2.95 and can easily feed two. Freshly grilled burgers, hot dogs, onion rings, and a full breakfast menu until 11am. It is located in a military resort, but is accessible to anyone, no ID required, and is right off the beach next door to the Hilton. read more

We frequented Happy's quite a bit during our stay at the Hale Koa Hotel on Waikiki. While located on a military resort, you don't need to have military id to purchase food at Happy's (or at least they don't check). In fact, there's a sign by the beach inviting potential customers into the restaurant. The food is fairly cheap (for Waikiki), and mostly delicious. There's a daily special for $7.95 and I think that it's a great deal. Also, this place has delicious bear claws in the morning. Happy's offers a decent variety in food - sliced fruit, salads, sandwiches (both hot and cold), burgers, fries & onion rings, fried chicken, hot dogs, and a few rotating cooked items. It's a good snack place, but a little lacking if you're hitting up places like Giovanni's Shrimp Truck. The burgers had no toppings like lettuce or tomato, which was disappointing. Their soft serve looks good, but it was pretty bland. It's not the cheapest place on earth, but if you don't feel like venturing far from the hotel or just need a quick bite, it will serve its purpose. read more

Unless you're in the mood to take on the buffet at the Koko Cafe, happy's is the best value around for breakfast (Fruit, pastries, breakfast sandwiches, and to order breakfast plates). They offer a few salads for lunch along with fried chicken, burgers, hot dogs, nachos, and 2 daily specials. The ordering system does need some work, they would only work on one order at a time and not move on until that order was completed, even if it meant everyone standing around while a pizza baked.
