a plate of sushi with sauce and chopsticks

Nice local restaurant that offers a variety of sushi rolls and the hibachi experience. I enjoyed my birthday there.

Chef creating delicious Hibachi dinner

Food was delicious! Great chef. I really enjoy the freshness off the food and the cleanliness of the restaurant. I highly recommend if you have a taste for good Hibachi!

Food was good but no real show with the hibachi, he just cooked. The food was ok not great or bad. They give you a crap ton of fried rice which is all that it is, rice with one egg for 8 portions. The most prominent flavor was oil for the cooked food. The salad while small was crisp cold and the dressing flavorful. The service from the waitress was slow and she disappeared for extended periods of time to the point our cook even mentioned it without being prompted.

I'm usually not the kind of person that goes "crazy for Sushi", but Happy Sumo is slowly making me a Sushi feen ! I've had take out from them before but this was the first time I've actually dine in and there were a few concerns. Me and my wife was seated and it took a while for us to be greeted to order (maybe 8-10mins). Although, we used that extra time to explore the menu in depth and we decided to go with that dinner special (see pics for more information) My wife ordered the Volcano Church roll paired with a California roll and a sweet tea. I ended up getting the Jalapeño roll with a side of fried rice. Again it took about another 10mins to get the food. But once it finally came smh it was on and popping ! Both the Volcano and Jalapeño roll was really tasted and had a nice kick to it. The rice was a tad bit bland but once I topped it with yum yum sauce it was delicious. We also had salad with ginger dressing and soup and that was great too. Overall the food was A1 but the service is what caused me to give them 2 stars. It was a Friday night and super busy so I can imagine that's why service was behind. But outside of that I would recommend it to any regular or newer sushi lovers !

Sushi / sashimi combo (regular) $28.50

We have frequently gone to this little sushi place. Great service and great food. Unfortunately they have a new owner and with that: New menus Much higher prices Smaller portions and To top it off: 18% gratitude for parties of 1 or more. Not sure we are going back. This used to be our go-to for good, reasonably priced sushi, but now it feels like you're paying for more than it's worth $52 for some sushi and a roll with two waters.

Free chef's tempura Kani- it was amazing!

My husband and I came here for a nice midday date. The service was attentive but not overbearing. Husband got a combo and I ordered two rolls. Everything was made fresh and delivered as soon as the chef was done. The chef also kindly gave us a small free tempura Kani and it was delicious (melted in our mouths). We did not feel rushed and the restaurant was quiet and clean. Really a much enjoyed lunch in an unassuming strip mall location.

Happy Sumo is one of many Japanese hibachi restaurants in the area. They offer hibachi and sushi items on the menu. They have a large restaurant layout with a different seating arrangements. The hibachi grills are at the center of most the tables. You sit around them as is tradition at most hibachi establishments. They will give you a decent show at lunch time. Nothing too fancy. The hibachi chef will cook all the usuals and provide you with dipping sauces of your choice. It can get a bit pricey but that sort of comes with eating hibachi almost anywhere these days. Food wise, it was okay. Most hibachi restaurants if you order any of the basics like the fried rice, the ginger salad, the hibachi steak, it's going to end up tasting about the same. Overall it still tasted pretty good. Hard not to to be honest when it comes to hibachi. I guess left Happy Sumo happy or at least satisfied.

It's been a while since we visited Happy Sumo and I have to say we were highly impressed. It's been renovated and actually the food and service was amazing. Don't forget about this place. We really liked it.

Thanks to fellow Yelpers for this recommendation!…read more Visiting Norcross to check out granite warehouses and Sushi Mito is that area. Arrived around noon on Saturday and it was already very busy. Plenty of options for hot and cold selections. We sat in a cozy comfy booth by the sushi bar where the experienced chefs created lots of items as well as greeting everyone. We opted for the panko shrimp pseudo bento box that included miso soup, salad, 5 tasty shrimp, + seafood salad ! We ordered their version of a caterpillar roll which included 3 types of fresh fish inside and avocado outside. For the California eel roll, we omitted the krab stick for more avocado, eel was on top. Different but tasty version. Plenty of food especially for lunch. Service was friendly, efficient, and prompt especially for the volume of diners. Overall, a very pleasant experience and recommend it!

But, we waited over 45 min to be seated even though the hostess said about 20 min. which was fine. After we were seated our server came and brought us our drinks. She gave us time to look over the menu. The food was very good. Very fresh and tasty. The service was lacking in my opinion. One of my friends ordered the special and had to wait over an hr for her food. Everyone had already finished eating and she still didn't get her food. The server was no where to be found. I feel the server should of been more attentive to our table. I looked around and everyone else seemed to be waited on, on a timely manner but our group of friends. The ambiance was pretty cool. I liked the way the restaurant was set up. But overall I was very disappointed in the service, even though the food was really good. So I'm not sure if I'd go back for a 2nd time.

Yumee Katsu is a modern-style katsu spot, and overall, the food is tasty even though I've definitely enjoyed some dishes more than others. My go-to order is the Assorted Katsu meal, and it's a winner for variety, flavor, and portion size. You get a couple of pieces of shrimp tempura, fish katsu, and pork & cheese katsu, plus the option to add a small side of udon or soba noodles. The fish katsu is light and flavorful, and the pork with cheese is a full-on cheese pull party. I also really enjoy their salad dressing and the dipping sauces that come with the donkatsu and fish katsu- they add a lot to the meal. The ambiance has a nice, modern vibe, and the service has always been friendly and welcoming. A small but thoughtful touch: they offer Asian candies for guests, which is a fun little refresher after your meal. Overall, Yumee Katsu is a great spot in Suwanee if you're in the mood for well-executed katsu in a cool, comfortable setting. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't already.

It did me because I saw this place on social media and since it's another katsu joint, it must be tried and suffice to say, it's not bad! This location is in the plaza that shares the new Sambong, Gopchang Salon, CowWow, and the BBQ Chicken place off L'ville-Suwanee Rd. If you hit the H-Mart, you've passed it as it's got one of the most unassuming signage you can create. Inside, is spacious. Looks to seat roughly 60-80 heads. It's well lit, has a very Japanese decor to the interior, yet still provides a decent amount of coziness to your table without it being too dark. Now for the food. Being that it's a katsu place, I had to go with their flagship entree, the Yumee Katsu and also pair it with a mini soba which let's me for real, I love how they do soba here. It's not dipping soba which I love. The soba sits in a cold broth of dashi, soy sauce, and mirin which they season with some cabbage and toasted sesame seeds. Now for the katsu itself. The katsu itself is thick. Thick and juicy which delivers an amazing porky flavor. It's also fried beautifully. The crust is crunchy, flaky, and evenly distributed over the pork meat. Yet the fried panko doesn't mask the flavor of the pork which some places tend to do so the panko pork ratio is simply perfect because you get the initial crunch but then the thick pork meat hits your teeth and it's a beautiful marriage of crunchy with the meaty tenderness of the pork protein. They give you their own katsu dipping sauce, some mini cubed radish, two cubes of radish kimchi, and on the plate, a heaping handful of sliced cabbage with a dressing drizzled on top which provides another textural dimension from the fried pork. The katsu plate is $15. Since I added the mini soba which was another $2 then tax and tip, you're looking at at about $20-$24 in order to eat here. Not bad. Definitely worth visiting for a casual hang or even a date and you don't want to do the normal Atlanta date scene and feel like grabbing something different.

The decor and atmosphere really make you feel like you've been transported to a lively izakaya in Japan--it's the perfect spot for sharing a wide variety of small plates. The Tapas & Kitchen: * Ankimo (Monkfish Liver): This was a standout. It was prepared perfectly--rich, velvety, and a great start to the meal. * Grilled Highlights: The kitchen really excels with the grill. The chicken skin is crispy and decadent, and the chicken liver is another major hit--perfectly cooked and full of flavor. * Seafood Favorites: My wife absolutely loved the steamed clams, and the grilled oysters were a hit as well. The octopus salad was also very fresh and well-balanced. The Sushi Bar: * Fish Selection: The quality and variety here are impressive. We ordered a mix of rolls and nigiri, including scallop, sweet shrimp, and tuna maki. * Quality: Every piece of fish was notably fresh. The only minor critique was the sushi rice--it was a bit dry for my personal taste, but the quality of the seafood more than made up for it. * Snail (Tsubugai): It's great to see more unique options like snail on the menu; it's a nice touch for those who appreciate traditional Japanese variety. The Experience: The menu is huge and well-rounded, offering something for everyone. Despite being our first time, the service was efficient and the pricing felt very fair for the quality and portion sizes provided.
