5 hungry people. 5 Hapa pizzas. Let me tell you how many boxes of leftovers we took home - NONE. I'm originally from New England. Prior to my lifetime living in Floriduh. And NO ONE makes Neapolitan pizza like New York does. But Hapa does. Oh yes they do. Chewy dough. Wood fired oven. Slight char on the crust. Heaven. I didn't think I'd like the Chicken Satay made vegan with Tofu. Meh. But my son wanted it. I got plain vegan cheese. Mom and daughter both Vegan Margarita. Hubby got Pho. (which he'd only had the meaty pizzas prior!) Hubby said the Pho pizza was very good. But I'll tell you what. My son was really hungry so he took 2 of my vegan cheese slices. Which were good. But his Tofu Satay pizza. Ridiculous. It was SO flavorful without being TOO flavorful. It had a tang. It had texture. It was SO richly flavored and had depth of flavor. OMG delicious. Here's the thing - $20 pizza x 5 =$100 without drinks or tips. That's an expensive night out. But damn it Hapa you're worth it. Which is why we waited for 25 minutes and why we were the last table to leave because it's THAT good. Delicious. Prego. Amazing. We will be back. Can't wait for more flavor!!! read more

We were in Portland visiting my cousin for the weekend and we wanted to grab a quick light dinner since we had a super heavy lunch around 3pm. My cousin mentioned this place and we were hesitant to try it. He said they had great reviews and was in New York Times, but we were still hesitant to try it because we didn't care much for Pizza- nor were we craving it. It was me, my 15-year-old daughter, my brother, my sister in-law and my cousin. We were greeted but the most friendliest staff I've ever encountered IN MY LIFE. You order and pay at the counter and find a seat. They have an area where you can get your own waters as well. We ordered the Pho Pizza, Banh Mi Pizza, and the Chicken Satay Pizza. I wanted to order the Pandamn ice cream but they ran out as well as their tiramisu desserts. In my head I wanted to take away 1 star but then I tried the pizza. Pho - 10/10 First bite and I could NOT stop smiling. It was SOOO good! This was the groups favorite. My brother doesn't even like sprouts but it worked very well with the pizza. It was like eating pho but on bread. OMG my mouth is salivating just thinking about it and I can't even get it now because I'm in the Bay Area. Banh Mi - 100/10 This was my personal favorite. It was basically like an open Banh Mi with a hint of pizza. The flavors were amazing and I loved the pickled daikon and carrots on top! I'm not sure if refreshing would be the right world, but I know amazing would be another way I would describe this. I live in San Jose and I go to San Francisco often so I'm actually pretty disappointed in the Bay Area for not having anything like this. Satay Pizza - 9/10 To be honest, we were already getting full but because it tasted so good, we finished this one too. The sauce was a creamy curry sauce (I think with a hint of coconut) and had some peanuts sprinkled on top which gave it more flavor and a nice texture. Lastly, the pizza crust tasted AMAZING. Recently came here for the second time and was delighted to learn that it is down the street from the Patricia Reser Center for the Arts, a venue that I am at quite often for choral performances. This place is a must-try!! The Korean burrata salad is incredible, so flavorful and delicious with every bite. This time I tried their monthly flavor of pizza, the chicken satay, and it was very satisfying! The wood-fired crust pairs well with the yuzu ranch, if that is your thing. Had Hapa Pizza on our list of restaurants to try out while we were in town for vacation. Before heading out, I called them twice to feel out the situation. The calls went straight to voicemail stating they were most likely busy with other customers. Drove out to the restaurant and when we arrived about an hour before close, we were greeted with a sign that said they had Sold Out. The employees were in the restaurant already starting to clean up for the end of the day. I can't really say anything about the food, since we didn't try it, but this was a pretty bad customer experience due to the communication gap. We've tried to find the best pizza around in the area, and so far this is becoming our favorite. We highly recommend the signature pies that have made this place so popular. Namely, the Pho Pizza with its delectable brisket, hoisin and veggie ingredients, in addition to the Banh Mi Pizza with barbecue pork, daikon, carrots and jalapenos. What seems questionable at conception becomes absolutely delicious in execution. These pizzas are Neapolitan style, made in high temperature brick ovens, and with a crust that is the nice blend of crispy & chewy at the same time. It's definitely cleverness that somehow works, and is not just a gimmick. Parking seemed a little tricky. I guess they have a lot, but we found it easier to find a spot on the street. We've ordered their pizzas via Uber Eats as well, but we would strongly recommend dining at the restaurant. Service was busy but efficient. Interesting fact: "Hapa" is originally a Hawaiian word that means a person of blended ancestry (typically, half-Asian). However, no Hawaiian pizza is on the menu here. read more

Service is on the slower side even on a non-busy day (Saturday @6:30pm, surprising I know) but I get it, everything is made to order... Items we ordered: -Tom Yum Caesar Salad - Pho Pizza -Tom Yum Pizza The pho pizza was the only standout dish for us as it was unique and different. Their pizza dough was chewy, fragrant, all of the toppings including the brisket was fresh and tasty. Tom Yum Pizza wasn't as exciting. Needless to say, we've had better in Long Beach, CA where the tom yum flavors and ingredients really pulled through. This pizza was garnished with some French's crispy onions and cilantro on a lost sauce.. shrimp, unseasoned. Lastly, salad, meh- skip. Again, tom yum flavors had no depth and was just lost in the salad. I would try the kimchi burrata next time instead. Great pizza with unique flavors. I was pleasantly surprised to see a pizza with beef larb on it. I've never seen that before and it was SO GOOD! A great balance with the herbs and bits of charred crust. It's such a perfect fusion, done so well that I can't wait to take my parents and grandma here. My friend and I ordered two pizzas to share since we wanted to try out the flavors, ate nearly every bit. I also got to try their yuzu ranch which I was so curious about. Came here with some friends who have been here before. I love the idea of fusion pizza and they nailed it. My wife and I split the charsiew and the green curry pizza. I think both had their pros and cons. The green curry felt like it embodied green curry on a pizzal however it was a lot of the same flavors. On the other hand the char siew had many different components, but felt less like a cohesive dish. Althoug hits hard to say what exactly makes char siew a dish, since it's usually just a meat. I want to say that the food is genuinely enjoyable and I think they bridge the gap between pizza and asian food well. However, while we were there they did forget our order and it was about an hour in when every other table started getting their food that we started getting concerned. Gosh, why does Portland have so many great pizza places?!? The daughter just introduced us to this Asian inspired pizza place and we were blown away. The flavors come from much loved Asian foods in pizza form with dough that is so chewy and crisp that you know it wasn't an afterthought. We ordered their Korean inspired burrata salad, a huge piece of fresh mozz over Korean style cucumbers and topped with tomato and crispy bits. Super creamy and delicious. We then had their bahn mi, pho and beef larb pizzas. The flavors were spot on with the herbs and fillings you would find in the actual dishes. So super delicious and authentic. Hubby used to have a favorite pizza from another Portland standard, but these guys just won top spot for him. We were able to chat with the owner who was especially kind and friendly. Prices are super affordable which I like as a college student. I highly recommend trying this place for all Pizza lovers! I've been wanting to try this place for a bit, because the reviews and images look so great. I had really high expectations for this pizza and the overall experience. We ordered our food for delivery so maybe that's the problem. Perhaps we should have dined in. While the pizza was very flavorful, truly, the flavor was on point for the pho, margarita and diavola pizzas, I found the dough to be soggy. The crust was excellent in taste and texture but I found the bottom of the pizza or the part that contained all the toppings to be soggy. I won't order again for delivery, unfortunately. The work staff were very friendly and one asked which pizzas we liked the most and it was nice having a conversation with them. I had high hopes because my hubby had built them up so much ,but alas it was not the experience for me. Stopped in for dinner and were promptly attended . The vibe is relaxed and friendly and has a style of ordering that unfortunately I am not a fan of which is you order at the counter and then grab a seat . We came in looking for those Thai flavors that my husband had talked about so much , but alas the menu had changed and they no longer were making those , so we got the Korean flavored toppings instead . The Pork Belly Kimchi has to be one of my favorite new age pizzas I have ever tried. It didn't need any sauce or alteration in any way with the perfect amount of flavor, spice, and such beautiful lightness in the crust (while still maintaining integrity). On the other side of the spectrum we had a pepperoni pizza that went well with ranch, hot honey, or just on its own. I must saw both the ranch and hot honey are great at Hapa, but neither is needed to make a pizza taste great - however I would definitely try both if you're willing to. Definitely have to fold the pizza to be able to eat it without toppings falling off. When we arrived on a Sunday afternoon, the place was already packed with a line forming out the front door. This had me worried about the possible wait time but the person at the POS was very efficient, friendly, and informative with the menu and their offerings. We were able to find a table and get seated but the space is fairly limited, sitting with more than a party of four might be difficult at this establishment.
