After cycling through lots of Thai places around town, Thai Bloom has become one of our faves when the craving hits. My default is the Buddha's Delight with chicken and house-made garlic sauce. It's basically a steam/stir fry loaded with a medley of fresh veggies including broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, cabbage and a balanced proportion of white meat chicken. It's a very good sized plate of food and enough for me to take home some leftovers. My husband enjoys their yellow curry with tofu, potato, onion and medium-spicy, creamy sauce. White jasmine rice comes with the dishes, brown is $1 extra. We also like the fresh salad rolls with prawns, lots of crunchy greens, herbs and sides of chili sauce and a yummy peanut sauce. The restaurant can feel a bit crowded and noisy during peak times. The service varies from average to good and the food comes out pretty quickly. One thing that really needs mentioning is that the run-down building exterior and weedy, unkempt landscape have been very poorly maintained to the point that I think this could reflect negatively on an, otherwise, very good restaurant. I could see this being a real turn-off to someone unfamiliar with the positive qualities of the place. Hope they consider putting some time and energy into improving this. read more

In a sea of no other late night diners and rather than fast food, we were able to stop in and eat an incredible delicious meal at midnight... thank you so much! Thai Bloom is a nice spot, and I really appreciate that they have TVs to watch football -- something far too few restaurants in Portland offer. They also have a full bar, which is a plus. I ordered one of the curry dishes; it was alright, nothing particularly special, but still satisfying. Prices skew a little high, though not unreasonable for the area. Worst dish at our table...and it was mine. --pad Thai with pork was better but still overcooked and lacked the zest of fresh vegetables. Bland and boring. --khao soi--best dish of the night with great spice. Tasty and satisfying. --summer rolls were good but still lacked veggie ratio to noodle. The peanut sauce was best in show. --pork dumplings--1/2 a dumpling was plenty due to the high salt content I'm not a fan of the main dishes and won't be back. Had lunch with friends. Good, friendly, no long waiting service. Good menu. Lots of seating and parking. Main caveat was the eggplant stir fry and pad Thai were sweet. Esp the pad Thai. Should have asked if less or no sugar could be added. But if sauces are premade they should consider lightening up the sweetness. Did not add balance to the dishes. No need to taste so sweet. We came here for dinner tonight because I really really enjoy the food cart in the summer. I was really disappointed. We got potstickers and fried veggie spring rolls for an appetizer. I've never seen corn in veggie spring rolls and the potstickers were doughy. The pad see ew was completely different and had cauliflower in it which normally doesn't. The cashew chicken was red, which I've never seen before and tasted weird. My daughter enjoyed the pad Thai. Service was fine and the place was clean but I will not be back. read more

Hands down the best Thai food I've devoured in a very long time! We had a party of 10 show up on a Saturday evening with NO reservations and they were able to seat us almost immediately. I was amazed. I loved their modern menu yet very traditional Thai entrees. Definitely order any of their hot teas (comes out in a nice little personal clay teapot). Wings were on point with the daikon. Pad Thai and Pad See Ew were also phenomenal. Both yellow and green curry were fantastic. And the service was attentive yet not overwhelming. read more

We came in an hour and a half before closing and it was good timing because it was happy hour. I opted for the tempura which came with veggies and shrimp. It was very delicious and the batter was not too overwhelming. Then we ordered the signature boat noodle soup with beef. I wish it was a bit hotter and it was a tad salty. I think it would have tasted better with rice. We were sat by the bar so of course I had to order a drink. I chose the coconut elixir, it was so light and refreshing. Okay look this place is so discreet but open to the public. I love this place for small dates. The low light is inviting inside the store. As per usual the seating for waiting for party of two was actually comfortable. Fun fact there's a map of all the Thai Blooms in pdx. There is a family or bar side it felt nice switching in between the two areas. Best of all the restrooms are in a convenient place in the restaurant! Let me tell you the chicken satay is very delicious beyond recognition. I use reward points on my credit card for other Thai places but it doesn't not even compare to the chicken satay at this particular Thai bloom. I've tried it with the pad see ew and pad Thai for my girlfriend. Honestly she smiled bc she loved our experience at Thai bloom especially cheering with Thai teas in the mix lol. Thai Bloom fills a much needed hole for authentic Thai Food in Camas. The food here is top notch and can be as spicy or mild as you like and what's best is the spice never over powers the taste of the food. They always do their best providing excellent service. Sometimes they are short staffed but that's just a sign of the times these days. Ambiance is relaxed and they always seem to be busy. I ordered pot stickers, spring rolls, and Tom Kha, which were all amazing, very pleased with the appetizers. I also ordered the chicken fried rice and chicken pad thai which were both very disappointing. The menu at Thai bloom is a lot more extensive and varied than your typical Thai restaurant. I'm really glad we didn't skip the beverage options either! Even in the middle of dinner rush service is very fast, although the indoor seating area noise level can get a little high. read more

What happened to my beloved Thai Bloom? Sitting here with the most silly/awkward experience. I heard the kitchen is getting slammed, but the place is mostly empty at the bar (happy hour which is where we usually sit) as WELL as the dining room. I accidentally walked into the bar area and stood there waiting to seated, as was their previous protocol. There were at least 8 empty tables and half the bar empty. I waited about 5 minutes and I was then directed to the host stand for the restaurant to be seated. -Where I waited about 10 more minutes with a bunch of people standing there. The hostess didn't greet me, but finally someone else came up and asked if everyone had been helped. I hadn't. So I asked for a seat in the bar and was immediately taken that direction. I overheard that a lot of large orders came in, and I get that, 100%, but the vibe is LOW to NO energy. It used to be a bit frenetic and chaotic, in a GOOD way. We stopped in here while visiting some friends in the area. It's a nice setting with both indoor and outdoor seating. We were sat quickly by friendly staff and our server was also friendly and attentive. We tried a few things from the menu. The crab cakes were served quickly and hot. Very good! Our entrees quickly followed. Everything was seasoned nicely and the plates are accented with cool sides. It's a great date night location. Was craving some Pad thai and thought I'd try this place for the first time. Came in through the bar side and the bartender was very nice! Assisted us to the main dining area which was nice. Our server was somewhat attentive. I ordered the salad roll with tofu & the majority of the fillings were noodles with a little bit of shredded carrot. The sauces that came with it were good! I also ordered the Crab Pad Thai special and it was okay. The imitation crab was mixed with big chucks of scrambled eggs for $25. More egg than crab & my noodles were very oily. Make reservations if at all possible to cut down on wait time. They do have Happy Hour so that helps offset some of the higher priced items and you can sit in the bar area. Fantastic drinks and great appetizers. Love this place for a quick lunch or a tasty dinner with family. Service has always been good with no complaints. The Thai Iced Tea is creamy, sweet and delicious. Cocktails are delightful and refreshing. Food presentation is nice and food is generally very tasty. I have been to Thai Bloom many times. I don't like leaving bad reviews, but this time it was not good. I arrived at 4:15, ordered house wine and yellow curry. Wine ended up costing $8 (NO HAPPY HOUR PRICING - you must order 'premium' wine. Hello? and $8? Then the curry: I think it was yesterday's curry and rice: the rice was sticky and starchy, and the curry was thick and starchy also with very little chicken in it. I usually find the most popular/common Thai dishes are pretty standardized at most Thai restaurants, and that is the case here. Service was friendly. We came in during a busy time, so the servers were a little disorganized with our orders. However, they were very sweet and very attending! The Ahi Larb, Three-Color Sweet Sticky Rice (because of the inavailability of Mango, we had other varieties of fruit), and Handmade Coconut Ice Cream were delicious! The Braised Beef Stew were also delicious, however seems to be a little bit on the sweeter side. The taste of the Signature Boat Noodle Soup were great, but the noodles were overcooked as it easily broke apart.
