This place is an absolute GEM! Stumbled upon this spot accidentally, and it was an absolute delight! Kent is the owner of this charming small business, and he has been in the same spot for 16 years! Windows are adorned with Sunset team photos, and the inside is very clean and dimly lit. Great ambiance. Tom Kha soup was the perfect way to start... delicious with a sweet and sour taste, incredibly hot and perfectly balanced. Pad Thai had great carmelized chicken pieces, and the papaya salad was amazing! Large shareable portions. Don't sleep on the chicken satay: ginormous pieces of hand pounded chicken that was charred and served with their own peanut sauce. Everything was served with a smile by Huey, our server. Hole in the wall of a strip mall with good food. This is not a fancy restaurant - lighting is dark and it isn't decorated. But the food is good. We got the garlicy greens with chicken and the shrimp, pork, and sausage fried rice. The portions were large for the price. Service was minimal and had to ask for water refills and hot sauce. I stumbled upon this place last fall while in the area and hungry for some early dinner. I was a bit dubious at first because the atmosphere is pretty boring and it's not much to look at, but as soon as our food came out, I was hooked! The spring rolls are cooked to perfection, the salad rolls are my favorite in town with delicious fresh, crunchy vegetables inside as well as tender prawns and pork. My vermicelli bowl was tasty, but the Thai food is really what put it over the top for me. The Tom Kha Soup is delightful, the Pad Woosen is my favorite, and the Pad Kee Mao is great too. I will eventually try more dishes, but I think I've ordered those every time I've been because they're are so good. The service is always great, and the guy is pretty funny if you get his sense of humor. He was super sweet the other night, and brought out my friend a birthday mango moose when he overheard us telling her happy birthday, even though we were there past closing. read more

Ok, a bit torn on this review. The meat was very flavorful. My dish had grilled marinated lemon grass chicken, vermicelli, lettuce, mints, cilantro, cucumber topped with scallion oil and fried shallot. Choice of egg roll or grilled shrimp. I want with the egg roll. I'm not going to pull your leg but the egg roll was the size of my pointer finger and the width of a sharpie pen. Not much to it and at first I had to study it to see what it was. The taste gave it away . Next, the noodles. Bland, bland, and even more bland. Absolutely not a lick of flavors so that was very disappointing. The meat itself was very good and had that grilled marinated flavor, but the flavor wasn't anywhere near lemongrass. More like Hawaiian marinade (which I like so it wasn't bad). The salad was delicious with the shallot and fish oil poured on it (I'm guessing that was what I was supposed to use it for as there was no other dressing). First time at CT Bistro Viet & Thai today but will not be the last. It is probably the busiest Asian/Thai/Vietnamese restaurant in the area. Ordered to go and there is a good reason why there was a 30min wait especially on a Friday evening. Busy means good food as my dad always said. Ordered Basil fried rice, Chicken Satay, Garlicky Greens which came with freshest veggies, crunchy green beans.  Large portions, very flavorful food. That is a treat in itself.  5-piece chicken Satay pieces are large, probably 3-in wide. I was pleasantly surprised.   Garlicky Greens was not too Garlicky.  Basil Chicken fried rice was the best with so much chicken and flavor. Each item serves two persons. Totally worth the money and time.   Will return tomorrow to try the famous wings. read more

I love this place. My husband likes it too but has to tell me no once in awhile-because is go 2-3 times a week if I had my way. I love the papaya salad and I just discovered the garlic wings!!! Holy jeez. Now I'm gonna never want to cook. S3 & S5 are faves. My husband likes the yellow curry. And everybody loves the pineapple fried rice!! Sometimes service is crazy. This place is such a good local lunch and dinner spot. It's called Bistro and the vibe is fairly casual but the food tastes expensive! It's delicious, with large portions and well priced. I think if they changed their name and made it a little fancier inside they could really expand their customer pool. However, I like that it's a hidden gem in cedar mill for now! Never would have noticed this place if I hadn't gone with friends who frequent often as they live in the neighborhood. Was thrilled to see they had Pad Woonsen on the menu, a stir fry dish with glass (mung bean) noodles. A delicious and great option for those avoiding gluten. CT Bistro's version came out piping hot and was loaded with carrots, broccoli, onion, tomatoes and scallion. I chose chicken for my protein and it was tender and flavorful. We ordered papaya salad and shrimp salad rolls for the table as appetizers. Like many Asian restaurants, they bring the food when it's ready so my main came out first. Then the spring rolls. Followed by my friends' mains then the papaya salad! NBD but next time will definitely order appetizers and wait until they arrive to order the main dishes. The papaya salad was ok, not spicy enough for my preference and it had very few chopped peanuts on top. If I order again, I will specifically ask for spicey with extra peanuts as I like the taste and texture they add. The noodle bowls my friends ordered looked awesome. Totally loaded with meat, seafood and veggies. I'll try that next time as I am definitely eating here again when I am in the area. read more

Excellent customer service, the staff was very friendly. I ordered through the phone to pick up my order. I had the pad kee mao and was not expecting there to be mushrooms. I'm not a fan of mushrooms and the flavor was strong so I can't say I loved this dish but I'd definitely try CT Bistro again. I ordered my dish to be spicy but it came out to about a medium. Portion size was good for the amount that I paid and is about average pricing for Thai food. I know they also have Viet food so I might try that next time I go there. read more

CT Bistro is located on Cornell Road in the Sunset Mall, Safeway shopping center. It is a small place but there is plenty of seating available for dining here including tables and some booths. I visited today to order some take away food for dinner. The man behind the counter was very friendly and helpful. I was curious about their vegetarian options and he said they were happy to make substitutions on any item. This was good to know because some places do not like to alter their listed menu items. It also means the food is made fresh to order. I ordered the pad Thai and the pad kee mao, both vegetarian with added broccoli. I wasn't asked for my spice preference and the food was served mild, so if you like it spicy, be sure to let them know. Both dishes tasted good although the pad Thai wasn't as flavorful as I like it to be. The pad kee mao had good flavor. There is lemon water on the counter and chili jars for people to help themselves. I thought the bill of 23.50 was a bit high for just these two items. There are less expensive Thai places in downtown Portland. But if you're in the Sunset area and want Thai food, this place is a good choice. read more

I come here for work a lot and am trying to eat "healthier" these day. I ordered the Garlicky Greens with tofu and Fresh Rolls with pork and shrimp. Completely amazed and surprised at this place. We ordered the pork and rice dish and a curry dish. Originally I ordered chicken, but the waiter made a mistake and served me pork instead. What a wonderful mistake he made! The owner/Kent came out and found out that I ordered chicken originally, then sent me a sampler plate of the chicken. I liked the pork a little more but oh my, both were really great. This was some of the best Vietnamese Thai food that I've had. This place is great. Fast, witty (when I ordered a diet soda, I said just a Diet Coke or Pepsi, whichever one you have, it didn't matter to me, the guy asked, is Shasta ok?! I have to update again to increase my rating to five stars. I have been coming here since they opened. Over the years the service has been a touch uneven on and off but the food has not. The food is on point. Thai food, Vietnamese food, and chicken wings under one roof? Weird? Well maybe. But this little place turns out yummy hot food in all three categories. We have never had bad food. We get it to go, often. Pho Ga for Princess with beautiful clear broth, tender chicken breast, fresh add ins. She also likes Chicken Satay, Tom Kah Soup with tofu, and Thai Iced Tea. I like the Pad Thai, the Garlicky Greens,the Bun, Lemon Pepper wings, the Grilled Pork rice plate, the Pineapple Fried Rice, the Yellow Curry. All are plentiful and tasty. You can see from my pictures. We eat here a lot. If I have any petty complaint it would be their menu does not change. No specials. No new arrivals. I wouldn't mind seeing a Pad See Ew or Lemongrass chicken salad once in a while. Or a Kha Soi noodle or Viet moon crepe. That's minor though. They do the food they do very well. Wow....I first tried their food when they opened long ago. It was mediocre then, but I'm still surprised to find that they have actually gone down in taste. I was convinced to give it a second try by the reviews, which you should ignore if you've had authentic Thai or Viet food. I don't know if they pick and choose whose food to do justice by, but the food I had today was awful. Let's start off with the Thai tea; I am a huge fan of these and have them every single time I am in a Thai restaurant. I've even had them bought pre-made from the store. That said, though not all of them have tasted the same, they've all had a distinct yet similar taste. This one was the anomaly, and even my companion said it didn't "taste right". For whatever reason there was some odd laughter in the kitchen, which might sound like nothing to folks reading this, but again, even my companion said something was going on. A few moments later the waitress brought our food out; the food was presented quite well and appeared to be just fine. That's until we started eating it. I don't know how to describe it, but the chicken was tasteless and yet flavored strangely all at the same time. I then found a rather long black hair in my food, which made me stop eating completely. It was all then clear why the place was rather empty and to add further insult to injury, my stomach was seriously upset not even 15 minutes after eating there. read more

Both Vietnamese and Thai food are solid but the real surprise is their Fries and Wings which are not to be missed. They do not come drenched in sauce but "dry" with salt, pepper and garlic, Carrots and celery with blue cheese are on the side. Much better than Buffalo.....! read more
