Oh gosh I love this place. Something about this place gets my 5 year old son to just sit and eat. The people are friendly. The food is good. We always get wonton soup, boat noodles. Coconut shrimp, Thai calamari. Khao Ñam Tod, sai grog esan, and drunken noodles. I always forget to take a picture but I'll likely be back again almost every Sunday after church. What happened to the food? Not good the last two times we dined inside for dinner. Both times the Pad See Ew didn't have any sauce or flavor. Tonight, I ordered takeout and had the same awful food experience. The broccoli was also raw. We were asked what spice level and said 2. There was zero spice in the Pad See Ew. It was basically noodles with flavourless raw broccoli. My green curry lacked the usual flavor and the tofu has changed to the extra firm tofu with only a few tiny pieces in my curry. This has been a favorite of mine since 2019. During the peak of the pandemic, I came here regularly for take out. As always, their food is always delicious and they have the best customer service. Came here on a Tuesday night and it wasn't too busy. They served us complimentary salad rolls, which was so generous of them. We ordered their pork special with sticky rice (in foil), pad see ew with chicken, and panang curry with chicken. The extremely loved their pork special and pad see ew. Both were so flavorful and hard to resist. Their parang curry was also delicious and even for mild, it was quite spicy. Portions for all dishes were big and ended up being our dinner again from the leftovers. We were in the Beaverton area and had a taste for Thai for so we found this place. There are two ways to get to the restaurant, one is from the backside through the indoor mall that feels like a ghost town or the frontside from the street. Either way you arrive you'll be greeted by the hostess who will promptly seat you. The restaurant wasn't crowded and had the familiar decor as many Thai restaurants, a little on the busy side covered in Halloween type stuff. We ordered chicken pad Thai, pineapple fried rice and the yummy noodles with chicken, I can't remember the name. This visit was absolutely crazy and really ruined my whole day. Normally I have great experiences here but not this time. When we arrived in a party of 9, there was nobody here at the restaurant besides, maybe one other party of two. This was a team lunch so we all put in our orders. All I ordered was mango sticky rice with extra coconut milk and fried bananas and ice cream. I also told them I wanted it with the rest of the food so not at the end. Basically, people started trickle in and our table got all our food except my order. When they bring out all the food, they didn't even come let me know if there was a delay or anything, and I had to follow up with them multiple times (5 times) being completely ignored essentially. I watched the restaurant basically fill up, and everyone else got their food before mine never came out. The server Cho Chotiga never checked in regarding my items and everytime I went to ask just kept saying it's almost ready. Everytime I asked maybe 10-15 mins passed and nothing. I finally got my food (togo at this point because everyone finished) almost 1.5h+ later. On top of that when I got back to my desk, not only was there not extra coconut milk, there was none at all. The service is always above and beyond, today I got a few orders of fresh rolls and they threw another one in for free! I haven't been back to Thai Noodle Etc for a while, and decided to drop by before heading to a movie. The shop was packed when we were there, and it's a great to see that they are doing well. We got seated, placed our order and got our food pretty quickly. We got some salad rolls, Kuay Teaw Moo Tunn noodle soup and mango sticky rice and they all tasted great. The spring rolls had soft and chewy rice wrapper, while the pork noodle soup had a savory broth that warms up your body. The spices in the soup kinda remind me a Chinese herb based broth I grew up with, so that was comforting for me. To my surprise, my boyfriend really enjoyed it as well. Then there's the mango sticky rice. When done right, it's always delicious. In this case, yes it was very yummy! This is my go-to Thai place lately. It's not the very best Thai food I've had in Portland, but overall, the food quality, service and atmosphere make this place a consistently great choice. Got the Pad Thai and Pad Kee Mao to go. Portions were great but the meat portions weren't. There were hardly any beef in the pad thai. Luckily my partner ordered and paid "extra" meat for their pad kee mao (it really just looked like a normal amount compared to other thai places). The dishes themselves weren't bad, they still satisfied our cravings, but they also didn't WOW us. Their pad see ew is best in town and the one dish that we always order no matter what. The thick noodles with the pieces of veggies and eggs is one of my favorite comfort dishes. A very close runner up is their red curry as the flavor is explosive and comes with the bamboo shoots, bell pepper and choice of protein. We don't dine in as often as we would like but when we do, the servers are always super friendly and give good recommendations. The owner always likes to stop by our table to check in and make sure everything is ok. There's been a few times when we've picked up our to-go order and receive complimentary tofu salad rolls. It's always a nice surprise and just goes to show how great the staff is to their customers. It has become one of our default go to restaurants when we can't decide where to eat because it's just that reliable. Thai Noodle Etc is my go - to for MSG safe excellent Thai food. Some of the menu items that have soy sauce will naturally have MSG, but I just avoid those. We actually drive through Portland traffic from Vancouver, WA just to have dinner here, and I always get extra to enjoy at home. Our go to order is: Appetizers - Coconut Shrimp, Chicken Satay (peanut sauce), Spring Rolls Entrees: Pad Him Ma Pan - cashew chicken, ordered with no onion Pad Broccoli - chicken broccoli with lots of garlic Tom Kha - coconut milk based soup with mushroom, tomato, lemon grass... and a meat if you wish. I add rice to soak up the delicious soup and give more texture when I'm eating it by itself. Pad Thai - I prefer vegetable, no meat, and order a side of peanut sauce. Many of our friends and family LOVE the noodles - whether in soups or other dishes. Those are items that we don't tend to order. Just today a friend was craving soup and I let her know we were getting a pickup order from Thai Noodle. She ordered the Kuay Teaw Neau soup and has been raving about it all evening. Green curry is almost always my go to dish, tasty and good portion at a very reasonable price for lunch. The Thai Ice Tea is a bit on the sweet side, so I tend to like to take them back to the office or home and add a bit more tea. I had the Tom Ka this time and really enjoyed the taste of it. Service can be a hit and miss, often due to the server to customer ratio, but there hasn't been any issues other than getting their attention.
