My girl and I were shopping for some summer clothes at six on a weekday when the sales rep told us they were closing and insinuated we should hurry up. We left without buying anything. First of all, who chases customers away? Yeah you're a big store with lots of product, but F you! There's what 4-10 other shops with a stone's throw from your shop that would gladly have my money. Second, you're not the post office or a bank. So why are you closing at six pm? I realize Encinitas shuts down at 9 and the sun's up til 8 now and you probably want to get in the water as much as I do, but deal with it. It's called WORK. Overall, a very poor experience and with cuter, friendlier sales reps at every other shop on PCH, this place FAILS. read more

Great selection of clothes, but that's about the only thing going for it. Bought a button down shirt, they wouldn't honor their online coupon. Went to check out and the lady at the counter was just chatting it up with another customer who had already paid, completely ignoring my existence. Finally checked out, left the store and was half way down highway 1 when I checked my receipt and they had overcharged me $5 on my $70 shirt. Took it back and it was marked correct at $70, but their system was ringing it up for $75. Felt like a scam to me. Needless to say, I won't be back. read more

A big box style retailer that some how pulls it off. You'd expect them to be a step from Ross, but they seem to keep it local. The staff that helped was knowledgeable and happy to help. Not my choice as a regular surf shop, but a great place to take the kids for back to school shopping or if you're trying to get that crazy Aunt of yours a California present for her birthday. read more

This store is huge!! Can't speak for the store as a whole because I only went in for a watch (although I will be returning for other items). When I went in I found my way to the back of the store where Nixon has its own little room and I was promptly greeted by Patty. She was extremely helpful. I have wide wrists and so normal watches don't fit, she offered to add links to it to accommodate. She continued to add links until it felt right. She was so patient with me and I thoroughly enjoyed my visit thanks to her. I only went in to see if the band fit my wrist and then was going to buy it online but she sold me right there. Wow, what a great find! This shop is so cute and fully stocked with everything from athletic wear and gear (surf and snow) to Pacifica Body products to cute frames and knick knacks and so on. The store is deceptively large, it's got three levels full of merchandise and top-notch brands. I went in to find my hubby a pair of snowboard pants that I could pick up in shop after striking out at REI and Dick's. I found an extensive line of snowboard apparel at reasonable pricing and excellent customer service. I loved this place and look forward to returning after the holiday hustle and bustle dies down a bit. They offered complimentary gift wrapping and gift boxes with my purchase which was a huge time-saver and such a nice little extra. I highly recommend stopping in for a look. Love the clothes and jewelry selection here- the merchandisers and buyers for this store do an amazing job. You can always find something perfect for a day in the san Diego sun. The fact that they are a family owned and operated shop since they started makes me like it even more. They treat the staff well and like family, they engage in community activies and the yearly Christmas.parade, and they give back. 2 paddleboards, a bunch of clothing and a bunch of accessories later, we are happy campers. The customer service here is amazing! Braden took time with us to help us choose the right boards for our first purchase of SUPS. Other than renting them several times, we knew nothing about which ones would be appropriate for us. Braden was awesome. Patient and informative, not pushy at all. He even helped us get them onto the car and showed us how to strap them down properly. When we returned and he was on lunch, another gentleman helped us. Same great service! I love giving business to local shops. Even more so when they go out of their way to impress! Has all your surfing needs in a nice building split into several different sections. The store employees were super helpful and know their local scene well and gave heads up about the scene. They have a super extensive quill and inventory/selection of boards. They even carry boards for big boys like me...5'10" 240lbs! The staff know what they are talking about and were super helpful...if they didnt have an answer they went out to seek someone that could answer with accuracy (no half baked answers). I walked out with a Blair board, leash, travel bag, and wax. great surfing session followed! read more

Great store. Packed to the rafters with boards, wetsuits, bathing suits, flip-flops, etc. pretty much everything you need for surfing, or just looking like a surfer. The Nixon section is the best I've seen anywhere. Levi, the sales-associate is amazing. Funny and patient, he helped my family and me pick out some killer watches. read more

This place is exceptional. We rented skis and boots for the weekend and they didn't charge us day of pick up or day of return. They didn't have regular skis available in my size, so they offered me a demo pair and didn't charge me extra. The staff are friendly and attentive. The prices are very reasonable and they offer great quality items. Their inventory is huge - my husband bought jeans there last month. I'm so glad I found Hansen's! read more

My first time at Hansen's was very enjoyable not only because of the wide variety of products but the excellent staff. Then main reason why I had such a wonderful experience was due to the two staff members Sandra and Kensington. They both did a great job listening to what I was looking for and then diligently going through their wares to select exactly what I was searching for. In addition, the two could not have been any nicer. This was especially refreshing because I am not from California. I strongly recommend Hansen's, the store is immaculate and the clothing and gear are only of the highest quality. If you are ever around Encinitas I would say it is worth stopping by. read more

I had an amazing experience at the repair shop this week. Brian took in my skis that were beyond repair and cleaned them up to look new (ok, well almost new). He was so helpful, got them back to me before the original quote, and offered to help me to my car. I couldn't have been more pleased with the service and left Hansen's a happy girl! If you want your expectations exceeded, go to Hansens. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They know their products and are excellent for boot fitting. We recently purchased two pairs of ski boots as well as a pair of skis. I have shopped at Hansen's for over 25 years, primarily for my sons who are now in their 30's. I have always been impressed with their great selection of clothing/shoes as well as their customer service. However, this week I went in to check out their selection of ladies swim suits. Immediately I was assisted by an outstanding sales person...Sandra. She was absolutely incredible!! I am not joking, I seriously tried on at least 20 suits & she was so helpful running back & forth getting different sizes & styles. I never had to leave the dressing room. The team in the ski shop is the shnizle. They mounted my ski bindings and waxed my skis in less than 48 hours. This is meaningful because all the others in town were going to take over a week. If you need work done on your skis these guys are great. read more
