Long time customer but extremely disappointed today . We are a contracting company that uses this hardware store All the time we have spent tens of thousands of dollars over the years here. My experience this morning was very disappointing. Went to return 2 gallons of unused unopened sealer with receipt. My husband is usually the one that deals with them but I went in to do a favor for him to return it. One specific cashier ( woman older short grey hair ) treated me like a criminal was very rude. Would not even give me a store credit. Wouldn't even ask a manager or anyone else in the store just shush me away . I had receipts! Unused unopened material. I understand because it has been 35 days I would only get store credit she wouldn't even give me that.. she was very dismissive and acted like I didn't belong in there. We run a very successful contracting company and use suppliers all the time hanks hardware being one of them I will have to reconsider using somewhere else. my husband said he was going to call and speak to the normal employee he usually deals with. Not sure if this lady was new, but this is not how you treat builders and contractors. Update : My husband as well as myself both spoke with manager via phone he was very apologetic for his cashier's attitude towards me. He was very pleasant to deal with on the phone. Offered store credit for my unopened / unused canisters. I definitely appreciate him rectifying the situation. He did say the cashier told him that she offered me credit which she did not at the time she was more interested in pushing me out the store and going onto the next person in line. As I read the reviews, one could think that Hanks is a bad place. Not sure why their service was not good, I have been going here for a while and the service is always outstanding. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. I lose track of time talking to the staff and other customers. I have always found what I needed with or without the staff members help. I love this store every time I go there every one is so friendly and they know their stuff. I purchased an outfit heater and they sent a hose that didn't work I saw Dan and he helped us out turns out Amazon sent a hose but it didn't make sense about connection to your propane tank. Every think i connect to the tank you screw it on well on this heater you screw the hose inside B the tank connections I am so happy Dan showed me how it works. I will start this review with a positive. Hank's Hardware is the go to place when you can't find it anywhere else. Unfortunately today my visit wasn't the exceptional service normally given. The guy at the desk couldn't be bothered with my questions and basically told me to go to Home Depot. I know Hank's is a "mom and pop" business and I always have supported them. When my general contractor first introduced us to Hank's in 2013, we had a long list of things we wanted done to the house that required some special shopping. But after driving a half an hour to get here, we also discovered this is a boys toy's paradise. Good enough, the Mr. Fixit in your life, or perhaps the Miss Fixit, will be lusting to return after their first trip here. So much to see, so many items to buy, some of which can be hard to find. There are two buildings, one across the street from the other. The one bldg. carries all the hardware store items, tools, lumber. The other is more of a designer showroom, with a good display of classy doors, windows, fireplaces, high end hardware for those classy doors, etc. Oh yes, and choice moldings to dress up your home. No Home Depot here. Of course, it certainly pays to call if it is that hard to find. This most recent time we didn't call first and discovered they "didn't carry it" too late. But the bottom line is, I remembered this place because I knew they had such vast, interesting stock. We have not experienced the rude, crude customer service that reviewers are spewing epithets about. In fact, we had a pretty positive experience. So I take those criticisms with a grain of salt. If you get an attitude from someone, find someone else to help. They have been in business for a long, long time, and for good reason; you can still appreciate the uniqueness of this particular business and reap the benefits. read more

This place has all the crown molding you're looking for. I walked in to find all different sizes of crown molding and base moldings from my home. Sabrina was fantastic and helped me place my order easily. It's very difficult to find unique molding in your typical Home Depot and Lowe's spots. The following review takes into account 3 separate shopping trips over the past 3 years and my rating is the average of the best and worst. I can't even remember what I came in for the first time but after striking out at the giant warehouse hardware stores (you know who I'm mean) I found Hank's doing an internet search for the item I was needing. Wasn't super hard to find them and I got what I wanted and remember someone helping me get to the correct aisle to find it. I was so happy and impressed I thought I'd use them again when I wanted a quality, wood screen door. My first trip there was a "5" rating, when it was time to get a quote and see the styles of screen doors it wasn't as great. The products they showed me were really great, so much better than the crap Home Depot or Lowes offers, even online. What they could show me was in sales catalogs and when I had them quote price and delivery time my heart sank. Way too expensive and way too long delivery. This trip was more of a "2." Today I had an emergency and needed a plumbing part that Home Depot can only deliver by shipping, which takes a couple of days and I had to have it ASAP. Without this item my home would not have any running water. My phone call was put immediately on speaker and instead of greeting me, the guy keeps talking loudly to some other customer who must've been right there in the store. I had to wait until he was done talking to tell him what I wanted. He said they had the item. I go in and he had not understood what I was talking about, said he could "barely hear me over the phone." Maybe if you pick up the phone instead of put me on speaker...Anyway, I had to search for the item I actually needed, not what he had pulled off the shelf, and ended up paying quite a bit more than what Home Depot could have sold me if it had been in store stock. read more

Waste of gas and time! Thought I'd drive from 2 towns over to help support a store as not huge like the two other big ones out there. Brought my part that needed replaced, was surprised there was about 6 or more workers milling about the front on a Thursday. Showed one lady my part and she said they don't carry it, meanwhile a man one a computer told her it was aisle 3. She stared at me after repeating Aisle 3 even after I hinted can someone show me. So I had to go find the aisle myself and was shocked to see there were multiple different types but all in boxes so I couldn't compare it with the part I brought in. Had 0 idea what I was doing or what I'm looking for. Tried scoping out an employee but they were all talking near the front. Felt discourage and walked out empty handed. For a hardware store, in the Temecula Valley, I give Hank's the 5 star treatment - "as good as it gets!" Hank's does have just about anything under the sun when it comes to hardware for the expert or novice doing home repairs. From that elusive O-Ring, sturdy staple for your Swedish made gun, to that rare hard to find bolt that your Chinese made 'whatever it may be' that fell off or stripped. You don't want to replace the entire shower head system, faucet, or whatever they have the individual parts for that too. It is fairly easy to find items in this store, or just ask one of their knowledgeable employees and they will steer you in the right direction. Yes, sometimes those big box stores are easier or more convenient to get to because of location, depending on where in town you live. BUT, to me it is worth hitting this place up first when it comes to that unique item or tool for DIY home repairs. I see plenty of contractor type folks here buying lumber, wiring, etc. I have never purchased lumber here (yet), but may in the future (replace weather rotted roof line trim) as I believe they will be knowledgeable enough to help me purchase the correct product. Who knows, they may even be able to provide some professional tips on how to better secure it. Anyhow, to make a long story short, I give Hank's two thumbs up when it comes to my needs for household repairs! read more

I had a great experience yesterday at Hanks as I shopped for replacement knobs for my vintage cabinet bar. Not only did I find a perfect match, the price was unbelievable. The knobs I found at Hank's were not only a great match, they were less than $2.00, a great find, considering knobs which were not anywhere near a match were over $35.00 each at the boutique hardware store. I always relied on Hank's Hardware. Today, however, I was disappointed to see Hank's Hardware employees blatant disregard for the safety of its customers. Although, most, if not all customers, were equipped with face masks, none of Hank's employees were wearing any protective masks or gear or observing social distancing or doing anything to help protecting the safety of its customers from Corona Virus. When I questioned a cashier as to why the safety guidelines from the federal and state governments were not being observed, her answer was that "Riverside County does not require that we do it." I believe that observing safety guidelines in time of Pandemic is a social responsibility and merchants should not use the excuse that "the county does not mandate it." read more

Some items are more pricey, but if you cant find the part anywhere else im okay with paying a little more. There is always a lot of staff working and will help you locate anything that you are looking for. If they don't have something they will let you know where you can find it elsewhere. read more

After Home Depot somehow lost some baseboards that were specially ordered and waiting two months for them to arrive, I showed up at Home Depot and they were no where to be found. It's a good place to get real service from the employees they help when you need it and they have the hard to find stuff.

I needed to get my dads old vise fixed and there are no modern fasteners that match it, no match to any known thread pattern. I tried to find something at Hank's because they have basically everything, and I was helped by a tall, very young man with some big hair sticking up, I was suprised by his abilities. After he tried everything possible to fix what I had he suggested that the solution was to change everything over to a known thread pattern. He picked out the bolts, adjustment nuts and washers that would work for me. Hank's is a great place and it's great to see young men, high school age, in there working what's probably their first job. Thank you to the young man with the big hair for all the help, I would have never guessed he was so good at his job! read more
