The atmosphere was good, the food was okay, but the reason for the one star review is the waitstaff and management. Three friends and I decided to visit Hangar last week, and our experience was okay until the end of our meal. We waited approximately 15-20 minutes after we finished eating before our waitress stopped by to ask if we were finished and bring us our checks. After waiting another 20 minutes once we provided our cards, we began looking around and noticed her over by the bar running our cards while another (clearly) over-served patron stood closely by watching and talking with her. Before our waitress even brought our checks, the drunk patron came to our table to accost and harass us inside for 5-10 minutes while the waitstaff and management did nothing. This patron was so persistent in her harassment of us, she even followed us outside after we left to get away from her. No one from the wait staff or management intervened during this time. This was near closing time, and there were approximately 10-15 other guests at that time. When one of my friends spoke with the GM that night, he seemed unconcerned by this patron harassing other customers. I decided to call the GM the next day to share my concerns, and ask them to consider having management step in and deal with belligerent customers in the future. At that time, he provided several explanations as to how this other patron became so belligerent and said he would call me once he got "to the bottom of what happened" despite telling me he already reviewed footage from that night before calling me. The call felt half-hearted and full of excuses, but I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. I have not heard from him since. Long story short, avoid this place until they switch management and/or wait staff. The atmosphere and food wasn't worth the slow service and lackluster efforts we saw from the management team to make all of their customers feel safe and comfortable. read more

Great place to go for a girl's dinner or a date night. Portion sizes are smaller but it's perfect for sharing and trying multiple dishes. Love the sushi and Asian-style dishes! read more

Unique and tasty food, especially sushi is great! They also have nice wine selection. Portions are perfect for people who doesn't want to eat much. Pricey place but worth it. I recommend going there after dark for the ambiance. read more

Came back her couple times already and they still got it. Food is good (small portions for the price -so you gotta order a bunch and share) and drinks are on def point. Service is always great never had a bad one. They were playing live music outside on a Friday, not sure if this is new or something they do on occasions but it was perfect. Very good for dates because it's super cute inside and out. read more

Fun atmosphere for date night or night out with friends. Great selection of apps, tacos and traditional dinner dishes. Service was fast and great. Bill was reasonable. read more

Fantastic meal. We ordered 3 appetizers and an order of Banh Mi tacos and all were delicious. Attentive service. Nice atmosphere: live music but not so loud you couldn't hear a conversation at your table. Great experience overall. read more

We enjoyed a lovely dinner on the patio. I had sushi, my daughter had a salad and my mom had tacos. Everything was delicious! Can't wait to come back and try some other items on the menu. read more

Hangar Kitchen Plus Bar - Cod tacos, chicken Caesar salad and Ahi sushi roll. - Tacos Near Me - St. Louis, Missouri

This was an ok experience. The decor is interesting and they have plenty of outdoor seating. Our server was friendly and attentive. The food was ok. Da goat was nothing to write home about. We saw rave reviews about it but it was underwhelming and the spicy tomato sauce part of the dish was anything but. My husband ordered their salmon roll which he thought was pretty good. I ordered the chicken amandine and it was such a small portion for the price. I think this place has an identity crisis. They state they're a tapas style place. But they have tacos, sushi and the more traditional American fare such as sliders. Maybe come for the drinks and al fresco dining experience but if you're looking for great food this might not be the best place. read more

Such a cool space!!! How did I not know this place existed until recently?? The menu was tasty. Drinks too. Staff was friendly. I like this place. Only complaint is the price point. It felt a touch out of range for what I was getting. I'd pay for the experience again though, just not very often. read more

We went here for the first time last night. The atmosphere was great. We sat on the patio. They had good background music. The food and drinks were fantastic. We shared the crab rangoon, veggie roll, and cauliflower bites. I had a negroni cocktail. My wife had a glass of Imagery chardonnay. My only criticism is their systems were off a little. It took a long time for our server to come the table and bring waters. We ordered crab rangoon for a starter and it came out before we got our drinks. Our server was very good. It's just the timing when things came out was off. read more

Made reservations here for our 5th wedding anniversary. When we made the reservation we told them 2 adults and a toddler. when we got there we asked for a high chair or a booster. the manager came out and told us that they didn't have either because they are just more of a date night place. Disappointed. read more

Went on a Friday night, ate outside, vocalist playing the guitar singing the Piano Man and songs by Simon and Garfunkel. Nice evening outside, we had late reservations so we had a table that was not close to the vocalist. Service was excellent, drinks were good, I had a Test Pilot Margarita. Very good not watered down. We had the deviled egg appetizer, it was good although could have been better, I would try one of the other appetizer first. My wife and I shared taco's, you get three per serving, which is a good size. I had the cod taco's very tasty aoili sauce with cole slaw. My wife had the short rib taco's which had fried avocado's and jalapeno's. They were good although I preferred the cod. Very good atmosphere inside and out. read more

We have been to the Hanger several times since we first met one year ago. We returned because the food & service was superior. We were there this evening and will say that we're not likely to return again. On the menu-they offer Braised Short Ribs went from being "Ribs" to one solo rib? When you pay more than. $30 for this entree-and they serve one small short rib-it does leave a bad taste in one's mouth. :( In addition to this-we noticed an additional fee for our using a credit card? Since when is this a customers responsibility? There are many other great restaurants in St. Louis-you may want to think twice about patronizing the Hanger. read more

This was my second time visiting Hangar and I will be back for a third visit because my experience here has been really good both times. We decided this time to sit out on the patio because it was such a nice day. The vibe was great. Since the concept is tapas style it allows you to try many different dishes. We started off with the baked goat cheese..that was a win. The bread that was paired with it was delicious. We also had the flamin salmon roll and the crab Rangoon roll which were both really good. I liked the flamin salmon a bit more. I ordered the up in smoke drink. It's made w mezcal tequila. A good drink...a bit small though. Our waiter was great read more

Had a great meal with my family here. We ate outdoors and the ambience was great. The food was also good. Server was so so.

This restaurant is an interesting concept in a location that has churned though so many places. The menu is very simple and I was unclear if this was Covid related or not. I say this because it's really hard to get a reservation here so we were surprised by how simple the menu was. We had tacos and loaded fries and they were quite tasty. Our order got a little confused but the servers were on it and made everything right. Great service, good food. We will be back. read more

Love love love this place!! Went for my first time and brought back my family within a week! Amazing atmosphere both inside and on the patio. It is tapa styled so the portions are small, would recommend getting a few dishes and splitting it among the table rather than personal orders. It is a little pricey for the portions but the food is amazing!! read more

Absolutely fantastic service all around. The staff here never stops moving. Seemed like our waitress was stopping by our table every few minutes along with other servers, and managers. Really must say I enjoy going out and never sitting with an empty drink or dirty plate in front of me. The food is great, cooked to order and full of flavors. We had the taco trio - pork belly, tempura cod, short rib along with that's my jam and heat is on sliders. Both plates were great. Even though it's not on the menu, the bartender made my wife a pretty good sangria. Great night. Can't wait to return. read more

This was my second Friday in a row at Hangar Kitchen + Bar. I loved it so much with my girlfriends last weekend I made it a date night this weekend. This newer STL restaurant is a soon-to-be a staple. Some of my favorites are the Korean Cauliflower Bites, Harvest Salad, Heat Is On Sliders, Flamin' Salmon Roll, and the Crab Rangoon Roll. I was apprehensive about the a sushi roll of crab Rangoon at first. I pictured something heavy and dense, but wow was I surprised. It's made with large pieces of crab, the perfect smear of cream cheese, and wrapped in a light doughy fried breading. This roll is so unique and I'm glad my friend suggested [insisted] getting it! Everything is made to order, so it comes out hot and fresh - no heat lamps. The outdoor area is just as trendy as the indoor dining. I can't wait for a warm night to sit on the patio with a Spark of My Life cocktail. read more

I felt the portions were small for the price. I didn't like that we were required to order all our small plates at one time, especially since we didn't know how small the portion sizes were. My experience with tapas has always been that more could be ordered if the group was still hungry...and we we're still hungry at the end of our meal. Also, the food just ok. I expected better quality for the price as well. I felt we would have caused frustration for our server had we ordered more so this was not a welcoming experience. Silver lining was that we had room for ice cream at St. Louis frozen Custard Factory across the street. read more

Great food and excellent service in a really cool and comfortable environment. I will definitely be back.

So much flavor in this sushi roll. Has a little kick to it, but a lot of flavor packed in. Worth the price as well. Also started out with crab Rangoon and Caesar salad, which were tasty too!! Love the vibes in the restaurant as well... you don't feel like your in Rock Hill! read more

Hangar Kitchen Plus Bar - Flaming' Salmon Roll & Up in Smoke cocktail - Tacos Near Me - St. Louis, Missouri

Total transformation! This space has been totally transformed from it's previous restaurant and has made so many changes for the better! From the new location of the bar, to the unique booth tables, to the hanging light fixtures over the tall table area! Such a great vision and concept! We loved the food, too! Their menu is tapas style, so we shared several things. Food comes out as it get's done in the kitchen, so plates arrive at all different times, which actually makes is nice for sharing! We shared Da Goat (goat cheese marinara dish), 3 sushi rolls, sirloin steak, pork belly tacos, and short rib! Nothing disappointed! They even had my favorite cocktail of all time.....Frose (frozen rose)! Only downfall....their menu is quite pricey! This will have to be a special occasion type dinner spot, because after splitting between 4 people it was about $50 per person. read more

I feel bad for the owners opening during Covid, but didn't change the fact that their food wasn't very good and severely overpriced. I don't mind paying for good food, this just wasn't good quality food for how much they were charging. In addition it's tapas style serving so multiple items are required to feed one person. This is definitely a place you could skip, also the drink menu looks good but definitely didn't lose track of the overpriced theme. read more

The food and service was really good. Super cool atmosphere. We"ll definitely we going back soon.

Bar design is not good. Chairs are difficult to sit in and be comfortable. Food was good, but serving sizes are small for the price points. Bartender did ok, but spent a lot of time on her phone. read more

This was our first time coming here. We got the Arancini , Cod tacos and pork belly tacos. All 3 were fantastic! Finished it off with the homemade cookie for dessert. Even if you're full, I suggest you get it and bring it home for later, you will not be disappointed! Our waitress was so attentive and the owner/ manager genuinely cared about his clientele. We will definitely be back! read more

Went out for a birthday dinner. Cool lights and decor but overall dark and loud on a Saturday night. It's more a tapas style place, food coming out as it was ready with a overall small menu. I will say though, everything from cocktails to entrees were very expertly prepared and delicious. Definitely more of an upscale vibe for a date night or event. Social distancing was enforced with staff wearing masks. read more

Creative menu and fun vibe! The staff was very nice and even gave our son a special treat for his 12th birthday. Good experience!

The food is delicious and our server Mike was great! However, the sitting situation could be better. Our server had to fight to have us at the nicer table when hostess told us only bar area was open. P.s Up in smoke is good read more

The food was really great! We had the roasted cauliflower, sliders and Banh Mi; all of them were cooked to perfection! My hats off to the chef!!! We ate outside and it was a perfect night and they even had live music which was played at at perfect decibel....you could still talk and hear each other, though there was a definite festive air to the place. Everything was comfortable, and very clean. Bartenders was great, though wine choices were tremendously expensive. A glass of Ste. Michelle, which I don't like, was $12 and the next price for a glass of Chardonnay was $15. It was good, but $15! There were no small salads either, which we always like to get. We'll go back because the food was amazing, the waitress was very good, and it has a unique and cool atmosphere. Would like an option of reasonably prices Chardonney that isn't junk, and a small salad choice. All staff were working their duties at 100%! Very, very, nice experience. read more

This place is super nice and cute on the inside. I love the booths. I did not like that they charge 2.25 for a little cup of ranch. (Super weird) Heat is on and that's my jam sliders are good. The online menu needs to be updated as well. They have things in there that are not available. read more

Hangar has very nice vibe, it's warm, i may say it has the winter vibe, the wood and leather furniture added to it. We were 10 and we all enjoyed the food and the drinks. The braised rib taste way better than picture with pureed potatoes. My other suggestions are the flamed salmon and ahi tuna roll, my friends enjoyed the lobster roll, the mac and cheese. The food was very good that I could not take picture of all the plates. But here are mine uploaded. Enjoy the view and go there to enjoy the taste! read more

My wife and I came in the night before Valentine's Day after making reservations the week prior. The good: the food was fantastic and the service was just fine. We really enjoyed our four plates. The bad: it was cold. Real cold. Granted it was 10 degrees outside, but the restaurant has two large wooden doors in their foyer, one of which is open all the time. My wife and I (with other parties near us) were sat about 10-15 feet away from the foyer. People were eating dinner with coats on. I requested to be moved given it was going to be hard to enjoy dinner like that, but the hostess said the only other table that was available was closer to the foyer. About a quarter of the restaurant was empty at this time as we ate early, but I am assuming the whole floor plan with reservations were already laid out and she didn't want to change them. She said "sorry" and that was the end of the conversation. I can understand keeping the restaurant warm right inside the front door is difficult when it's so cold outside, but just accepting your guests are going to have to be cold during their dinner isn't good enough. Close the door, bring in a floor heater, don't seat people in the 3-4 two top tables closest to the door, heck hand out blankets, but just saying "sorry" when people are getting a gust of 10 degree cold air coming in didn't make us satisfied. read more

Our server was amazing. The atmosphere is super cool. I love the booths - they felt relatively private and were huge! The food was fun. An eclectic mix, which made me concerned that they were doing so much they wouldn't do any of it well, but they nailed it. We had tacos and sliders and sushi. Their Caesar salad was the best I have ever had. The pork belly taco was my absolute favorite. Their drink selection was great too. We went for a date night but the restaurant is definitely kid friendly too. read more

We just ordered carry out from Hangar and it was delicious! My husband got the pork belly tacos and I got the cod cakes. It was so good, I couldnt get enough.
