My wife, children and I went to The Hangar last week for our anniversary. First impression was the booth setups were phenomenal - comfortable, spacious, and unique. Secondly, they had a gentleman playing acoustic music. He was great! My son (9 yoa) was jamming with him and dancing in the booth. The food - wow. I had crab rangoon sushi. It was delicious. Washed that down with a nice pint of mango cart draft which is always superb. Overall, a great pre-game bar, a nice quiet place to relax, a date for the two of you, or a family affair. It has it all. I made a Saturday evening reservation about a week in advance. We arrived and are table was ready. The interior has a really nice ambiance and our server made sure to check on us often. Before dinner I ordered a southern peach mule. This is not a traditional mule with vodka. It had woodford reserve bourbon in it. This drink has mint leaves in it and was very tasty. For my entree I ordered the beef short ribs. The meat was very tender and I didn't need to add any additional seasoning. My friend ordered the beef brisket tacos. I had them before and they are good as well. Two hours after I reservation started we were informed the next reservation was there. We had already paid and were sitting their talking so we got up and left. So keep in mind reservations have 2 hour limits on busy nights which is fine. read more

Hangar was a fun experience on a Friday night for my husband and I. We made a 6pm reservations so we didn't have to wait. It was a busy night with people celebrating special occasions or are simply out with their families and friends. We were seated on a high top table by the bar, as they were the only ones available when I made my reservation a week ahead of time. The place is slightly loud but still, we had a nice time. We started with some drinks: I had a dirty blue sky martini - Ketel one vodka, olive juice, and 2 bleu cheese stuffed olives. It was delicious but definitely a bit on the strong side for a usual wine drinker like myself. My husband had a regular mojito while we waited for our two 2.5 tri-blend burgers (That's my Jam) served with fries, and hangar nachos. The nachos and the mini burgers were quite tasty and filling! I was pleasantly surprised but sad at the same time since I keep seeing some of their other delectable-looking menu items getting delivered to other tables and wishing I could eat more. When our food arrived at the table, I decided to switch my drinks up and ordered a Champagne Supernova - strawberry infused vodka, citrus and champagne. That was absolutely delicious! I ordered another one before we left since it's Friday night and I'm allowed to live it up a little! We also ordered another menu item; the pork belly taco. It was good and the pork belly pieces were cooked to perfect. However, I took 2 bites and was done. I had such a deliciously, fantastic time though and can't wait to come back to try their other menu items! Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. We made reservations here a couple weeks ahead with another couple and we got seated in one of the worst spots in the restaurant, right next to the hostess before the bar area and behind the windows. It was freezing cold, next to the garage type glass windows so we asked to move. The manager came and moved us. I didn't even realize she was the manager(only since our nice waiter told us he would get the manager when we asked to move) when she moved us to a different table. She barely said a word. Hangar is such a unique space in an unassuming location. I don't come to this part of stl that often, but made the trip to try Hangar! What I ordered: I started off with the strawberry basil mojito. It was sweet and refreshing- like any good mojito. We were just feeling drinks and a small bite to eat so we got "da goat". The flavors were delish and the crostini it was served with were perfectly crispy, but we were disappointed in the portion. When I finished my first drink, I decided to do one more so I went with the Georgia peach mule. It was forgettable. The space is so unique and it is a fun vibe, but I don't know if I'd come back. It is a fun place to try and maybe if I lived in the area, this would be one of my places, but nothing here was super special IMO except for the interior. read more

Driving down Manchester in the Rock Hill area and I see a sign that I have never noticed before, so of course I'm intrigued and I bank right and pull in. I walked in and in the entryway were two young ladies that pleasantly greeted and seated us quickly. As I walked through the doors I am immediately shook by the decor. For starters they had BAF (big ass fan) this brand of fans is typically only in gyms to keep the air circulating but here it added to the modern, eclectic style that was going on. There were booths that lined the main dining area that resemble large wine barrels and were open so that you were still able to fully engage with the bar side of the restaurant. Speaking of the bar, I spotted fresh ingredients not a barrage of bottled syrup and jarred toppings. We had a few of the suggestions that were provided by Faith our friendly hostess, such as the Crab Rangoon Sushi, Goat Cheese with crostini, and the Pork Belly tacos. Please keep in mind that this is a Tapas Restaurant but the portions were generous enough to share between two people. We have deemed them our new favorite bar and I will report back later with my recommendations for drinks. Enjoy! read more

My new absolute favorite date night spot! We sat in the bar area on a pretty busy night and started with some VERY tasty cocktails. We sampled a few but by far my favorite was the Strawberry Basil Mojito - perfectly refreshing and not too heavy! For an appetizer we got the Shrimp & Pork Potstickers and the Chorizo Fundido. Both were very, very good. I would be so bold as to call myself a queso connoisseur and this queso was GOOD. I got the pork belly tacos and did not regret it even a little bit. Flavorful, delicious, and all-around yummy. Parking is easy, staff are all friendly, and I'm dying to come back and sit in one of the super cool semi-enclosed booths in the middle of the restaurant space. read more

From aesthetic to the food everything is A1 at the Hangar our server Kevin was amazing he was very prompt professional and friendly he gave us a few suggestions and explain the food how was served explained that the food came out as a type of style serving to share at the table which we did we had deviled eggs as an appetizer and they were some of the best devil eggs I think I've ever had in a restaurant. The presentation of the food was also top notch. If there's anything I could maybe complain about is that they charge you for using a credit card and the plates look small but there actually perfect portion size. The reason I love this place is because it's got great decor, the food is delicious and they are super fast. Every time we go here we order something off the me I about every 10 minutes and it gets to your table quickly. We work our way through the menu and share each dish. The drinks are very good as well. I had a very enjoyable time here. Hangar has beautiful decor and a layout that makes sense. The tables under the circle domes are very cool to look at. Nice string lights overhead, dim lighting throughout. Medium noise level - I could hear those sitting next to me fine but had to really speak up for the other side of the table to hear. Overall a great ambiance. Food was very farm-to-table esque. Lots of vegetarian options and options from different cuisines - sushi, tacos, etc. All the food was great tasting and had stunning plating. I got the cauliflower filet which was great, well cooked and seasoned and the avocado mash with it was yummy. Cocktails were well made, too. I did find the food a little odd for the atmosphere and a big pricey. It was all small plates and they were gorgeous but something about the environment felt more casual and the prices did not reflect that. My entree was $15 which seemed high for the ingredients - cauliflower, potatoes, avocado. Drinks were especially pricey - $13 for specialty cocktails, $10 for regular. Service was good, our server was really sweet and offered lots of suggestions on the food. I do wish someone would have told us up front that there was a time limit for seating so we didn't feel so rushed out at the end. Partially my own fault - I forgot that the OpenTable reservation DID specify a time limit but a gentle reminder at arrival would have helped us be more mindful of the time. I am super excited to have such a great option nearby. Hangar checks all the boxes - great atmosphere, great drinks, food, prices, service, and, due to today's climate, COVID protocol. Tables are nicely distanced inside, and for a milder fall evening (or a nice spring/summer night) there is a fantastic-looking patio and a wall of garage doors that can open to the outside. Tasteful string lights hang from the ceiling in the bar area, and tables inside oversized barrels flank the dining room floor for a semi-private experience. Every table is thoroughly sanitized between seatings (witnessed this myself). We started with house cocktails (the Coming in Hot and the Up in Smoke) and snacked on the veggie sushi roll before switching to a bottle of red to go with our plates we ordered for our mains - a trio of tacos and the cauliflower filet with avacado mash (basically avocado mashed potatoes). Every dish was delish and generously portioned for small plates. Our one complaint was the pace of the meal, which was a bit awkward - the sushi flew out of the kitchen, tacos came out pretty quick, but the cauliflower was almost an afterthought by the time it came. First time here. Decor is really cool - I really wanted to be able to take advantage of their patio but alas the rain and humidity weren't agreeable. Cocktail list was interesting- started with the dirty martini on the menu and ended with their seasonal watermelon cocktail. Both were good. Word of warning - at $14 a pop - your bill can get pretty pricey quickly. We shared appetizers and tacos for dinner: goat cheese tomato spread was yummy - not a lot of goat cheese so those who don't like goat cheese would still enjoy it; short rib fries were very tasty; and the crab ragoon was good but nothing special. We did the fish tacos and the short rib tacos - you get three each so with the 3 of us that meant we each got to try one. The perfect date night spot! Super cute inside and a really nice patio. Loved that they had some fans around the patio to make it more comfortable during hot, humid STL summers. We started with the Carne Asada Fries. The meat was tender and it had a perfect amount of kick from the jalapeño cheese sauce (plus slices of jalapeños if you want to kick it up a notch). For mains I got the Crab Rangoon Roll and WOW. If you are a fellow crab Rangoon enthusiast it's a must order. The crab and cream cheese combo had awesome seasonings and the sweet chili dipping sauce added the perfect amount of spice. My partner ordered the Pork Belly Tacos which were also awesome! Crispy, fatty chunks of pork belly paired so well with the tomato jam and volcano sauce (I'm a sauce girl so putting 2 sauce-type things is always a plus). This is a tapas style restaurant - but you can order something for just yourself of course! We did a few apps - the crab rangoon lives up to the hype! Nachos were good. Boyfriend got the "that's my jam" burger and "Heat is on" burgers- he said the heat is on could use a bit more kick but both delicious! First visit! 3 in my party, reservation set for 6:30p. Arrived timely, only waited about 6 min to be seated because there were quite a few folks who arrived at the same time. Was seated inside of one of the cool circle sections. Great spacing between tables, staff wearing mask and hand sanitizer by the door. I also witnessed the staff cleaning the tables in-between guest to an acceptable level. Ordered a Jack and Coke short, pretty basic pour and portion. Mealtime... Sliders with Jalepeno cheese, Carne Asada Fries, Cod Cakes, Short Rib tacos and Dirty Ceasar, no olives. All of the food was good. My fav was the Carne Asada Fries because of the flavors of the toppings and the fries were the correct thickness to carry those toppings. The sliders could have used some additional seasoning and the dressing on the salad is a bit more tart than I prefer. Friend and I went for dinner on a Friday evening, the restaurant was pretty busy, the host asked if we had a reservation, we didn't so she informed us the only seating that was open was outside. It was a little chilly but they have heat lamps and fire pits so it was not a big deal. A word of advice thought: MAKE A RESERVATION SO YOU CAN HAVE INDOOR SEATING. The decor both inside and outside are beautiful, very warm and inviting. Prices for food and drinks are not cheap, but you will NOT be disappointed. The presentations are gorgeous and there's not a bad drink on the menu. Our waiter Brandon was amazing, so knowledgeable about the menu and we loved his energy. He was attentive without being too much. He offered to walk with me to the restroom when I didn't know where it was. Management, if you are reading this, brandon deserves a raise. Anyway, onto the food, we ordered 5 menu items to share: Crab Rangoon Roll: crispy in the outside warm and gooey on the inside, sweet chili sauce is the perfect pairing. It is imitation crab meat inside I can't help but wonder how awesome it would taste with real flaky crab meat. Flaming Salmon Roll: please please try this when you are there. The salmon is perfectly cooked and the presentation is beautiful. Lobster Mac and Cheese: do I even have to say anything?! The name says it all. It was the right creaminess, not overly cheesy, big pieces of lobster in there, I could have eating another plate by myself. Da Goat: baked goat cheese with a sweet and spicy tomato sauce. Crostini were a roasted garlic flavor and wonderfully crispy. Chef Mex Egg Roll: neither one of us cared for this dish. You can honestly pass it. I'm sure everything else on the menu is better than this egg roll. For dessert we got the apple crisp with cinnamon ice cream and salted caramel whipped cream, I need a whole tub of this stuff. Great interior, definitely something a bit different. Servers could be better trained. Food is very tasty, portions are small. Cocktails are strong and fairly well thought out. Everything was pretty pricey. If you like well-seasoned food with a bit of spice, and trying some different cocktails, and have deeper pockets, give this place a try. If your primary concern is "getting your money's worth" in terms of volume of food, or you have a party greater than 4, look elsewhere. Obviously, based on my 2-star review, I do have a major criticism that I go into detail on below but just keep in mind, that my party's experience was hopefully a one-off and doesn't happen often. I would probably try this place again if friends wanted to go, but I won't be back on my own volition. My main criticism is about the timing of how the food is served. We were there with a party of 7. We ordered 2 appetizers. One came out, and about 5-10 minutes later, the other was brought out. It was awkward bc the appetizers we got were not individually large enough for everyone to each have some so we had a few of our table munching while the other half waited for the second appetizer. And that was repeated when the second app was served. It was awkward, but I figured that hey, getting a fresh, hot app out of the kitchen was better than having it sit under a heat lamp. But this awkward timing style was repeated with our entrees. This might be a thing that this restaurant does, and if so, I didn't like it. It caused confusion at our table and even for our server. She didn't realize that we were still waiting on food until I mentioned something to her. I would've mentioned something sooner, but bc it was obvious this place doesn't care to try and bring out a table's food all at once, I didn't know to complain sooner. Essentially, the time it took from when the first entree was served to the last, it took 50 minutes. And everyone was done eating by the time the last person in our party got their food. It was entirely unacceptable. And even without that, the rest of the food was served over a span of 15 minutes, which is entirely too long if people are politely waiting until all are served before starting to eat. I'd prefer the food was sitting under a heat lamp rather than getting stone cold on our table. I think that if our server was more attentive and checked in on us more often, this could've been a better experience. I was disappointed that we had to bring it to her attention that we didn't have all our food. She did admit that she was new, but the restaurant didn't seem to be all that busy and if she was better trained, she would've known to stop by to ask how everything came out and we could've told her that we were still waiting. That is Serving 101. And I didn't pay the bill so I didn't have a chance to look at what we were charged but I would never come back to this place if I knew that we paid for that last plate that arrived egregiously late. Even offering a couple free desserts would've been something. We were a chatty table and were in no hurry, so that would've been nice. I started off giving this place 4 stars but I as wrote out our experience and thought about prices, I dropped it down to 2 stars based on how much we spent. Hopefully, this was truly a one-off experience but I probably won't be going back to find out. This place needs to do a lot better. read more
