Crab Roll - outstanding!
Joe L.

My wife and I have been here twice and I can say with certainty that we will be here many more times. The atmosphere is unique in that they have booths that are formed as if you are sitting in a cut out section of an extremely large barrel. It makes for a very private dining experience which is perfect for a date night. They have a patio and live music outside and we are looking forward to spending some time there when the weather becomes more fall like. Noel was our server both times we were there and she provided fantastic service and recommendations on the menu. We've had the potstickers, the Nachos, Carne Asada Tacos, Nachos (with Carne Asada meet instead of Ground Beef - thank you Noel for this suggestion), one of the salads and a Crab Roll. The food here is delicious, I would say the Nachos with Carne Asada meat is the best Nachos I've ever had and I would consider just getting this for an entrée. The apps are very shareable and getting a bunch of those and splitting them would be a great way to explore the menu. Bravo Hanger Kitchen Plus Bar, I'm a big fan of yours.

Nachos, a bit underwhelming

Really want to love this place because it's close to home and they created what could be a great dining destination. It offers nice ambiance with the airplane hangar theme, massive wine barrel booths, great indoor lighting, beautiful outdoor space and they offer live music some evenings. The music schedule changes from week to week so you have to check out their social media updates. The crafted cocktail (spicy watermelon margarita) was good, not great but served in a pretty glass and looked delicious etc. Their emphasis was on the heat, which overpowered the watermelon flavor.i think if it had been shaken it might have been a bit better The tacos had great flavor, but were missing about another full portion of toppings. Way overpriced for what you get. We made a gentle comment simply to provide feedback to the kitchen, and the waiter was kind and brought us more chips and queso. Nice gesture but didn't make up for the lack of meat. We saw some other nacho plates going out to a large table. One looked right on target of what we were expecting for our own table, plenty of toppings. The other plate looked like ours. Need some kitchen quality control. Also had the That My Jam sliders. The meat was a bit greasy and overcooked for me. I was there on a Friday evening, the bar area was not packed while we were there (from 7-8:30). The outdoor space was booked only until 8. The owners seem to own the space next door (Momos) equally beautifully designed inside. Seems the efforts were put into creating pretty spaces which they get 5 stars for, but the food could use some attention. I'd leave 2 stars for food. (I have been here before and was equally unimpressed with a salmon entree). 5 stars for ambiance, so going with 3 stars since it's clean, good ambiance, great outdoor space and have music.

Every time I go here it is an experience! Apps with a friend -- this is your place, drinks and din -- this is your place, dessert -- this. is. your. PLACE! Solid food and even better service. Had the opportunity to chat with one of the co-owners before and not only was he pleasant but you could see it in his products. I've celebrated a couple birthdays here with friends and the staff always makes them feel special.

Came on a weeknight and was not busy at all. The ambiance is nice and service was good. We started off with drinks and I asked for a recommendation but the waitress wasn't helpful. The cocktails were good. I've come here a handful of times and the menu has changed. We shared Da Goat and neither the dish or crostini were warm. The Korean cauliflower bites were really good with great flavors. The tacos come in an order of 3 and cannot be mismatched. We went with the pork belly and the flavors were great but the pork belly itself was extremely fatty. We couldn't finish it. Overall, we stilled enjoyed the food and drinks and will return to try different dishes and drinks.

Came here for a birthday dinner with a large party of 17. We made reservations in advance and came right at their opening time at 4pm. Due to our party size it did take a bit longer to get through dinner service but overall I think they were able to handle a large party well. Plenty of free parking available in the lot outside of the restaurant. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. There was a live music in the outdoor space. Inside they have some very cool barrel booth seating. For drinks. I tried their Supernova champagne. I was disappointed that it ended up sounding a lot tastier than it was. It was simply champagne with a couple of strawberries in it. There was a blood orange drink and a dish with scallops that was unavailable. Which was a little disappointing and shocking for the beginning of the food service and on a Saturday. Their menu has a lot of different types of food. From sushi to burgers, so there's something for everyone. I tried the fish tacos which were just okay. Unfortunately nothing too spectacular about them. I also got to try their hummus appetizer and that was pretty good alongside the warm pita served with it. We were celebrating a birthday and able to bring in our own birthday cake.

There's not enough that can be said about this cute bar, I gave it 5 stars based off of the appearance alone. I did not order any food or drinks I was out enjoying a Yelp event and stumbled upon this bar and went in to see how it looked because the outside looked nice and quaint. My friend did enjoy a few drinks and they looked amazing. This is a place that I'll definitely come back to and try the food and drinks, if the food and drinks are anything like the service my friend received then I know I will not regret this 5 star review.

If you are wanting a date night idea try Hanger Bar and Kitchen. The set up of this restaurant is very neat. We were lucky to get to sit in one of the Wine Barrel style booths. Our server knew her stuff and could talk about everything on the menu. Highly recommend the Korean Cauliflower Bites and the Queso. I could have eaten another order of those bites! I would pass on the Salads.... Overpriced for a salad. Nothing special. The French Onion soup was amazing!!! But the Star was the Bah Mi Tacos. Slightly spicy and sweet. The tenderloin that is used melts in ur mouth. The Cajun Pasta was good but go for the Tacos!!!! The drinks were pricey but expected. Cupid Champagne French 75, Hanger Dirty Blue Martini and a Chocolate Martini (for dessert)

This restaurant is very modern and has an overall great ambience. We sat outdoors and it was a beautiful fall evening in stl. The service was amazing, very attentive. The best item we tasted were the brisket meatballs, they were the highlight of the evening. The rest of the food was decent but lack flavor. I would go back for the meatballs and the cookie dessert.

We went around 7:30 and a live band was playing! The atmosphere was super inviting! They have really cool/unique booths here they feel very private when you're sitting in them. Our server went above and beyond, we had so many questions with the menu because so many things looked delicious and she helped us narrow them down. The Korean cauliflower bites were AMAZING! One of the best appetizers I've had, we wanted more when we finished. The sliders were great too but I do think the "that's my jam" has the "heat is on" beat! Our server suggested adding queso to the "that's my jam" burger and that made it top notch

We came here on Friday for girls night and had so much fun!! We made a reservation earlier in the week, and made it for the patio. In true StL fashion, the weather took a turn and it turned cold out of nowhere. We asked to sit inside and they were booked, but they did turn on the heaters for us outside which helped tremendously. Our server also put our names down in case of any cancellations. It ultimately didn't end up being needed, but was very much appreciated. We ordered drinks first, and I had a hard time choosing one- they all looked and sounded amazing. I like a bit of spice so I went with the Coming in Hot: Hendrick's, lemon juice, St. Germain, Domaine Canton, basil, cucumber, and jalapeño. Presentation was lovely and it had a great taste. I think it would have been even better had it been shaken with ice- it was a bit of a room temperature feel so I added some ice. We decided to each get a plate and then split. We got the crab Rangoon roll, short rib tacos, carne Asada fries, and Korean cauliflower bites. I want to start out by saying everything was delicious! I think the crab Rangoon roll was my favorite. The crunch makes it SO good, loved the sauce. The short rib tacos were super tasty, and they added one on for us so we each got one, which was really appreciated. The carne asada fries were tasty as well, and love the a Korean cauli bites. I would absolutely order each of these again. It can be a bit pricy with the portions that you get, but the food was incredible. The inside is so awesome as well, love the vibe. Thanks for the great service!!

We had a great time at Hangar! We sat on the outside patio and listened to some great live music by a gentleman playing guitar and singing solo. It was perfect for a summer date night with some drinks and good food. My husband got the Betsy cocktail that was delicious and I had the Dirty Blue Sky Martini (sub gin instead of vodka) - one of the best dirty martinis I've had! For dinner we started with the Korean Cauliflower Bites and they were delicious. A nice light appetizer with great flavor. Only a tiny bit of spice, but nothing to worry about if you're not a spicy person. Highly recommend! Then we split the Chicken Amandine and then That's My Jam Sliders - both super good. We couldn't really pick one as a favorite over the other, but we both agreed the cauliflower bites were for sure our favorite! We finished things off with the Chocolate Chip Skillet, yummmmm. It's topped with vanilla ice cream and a really good creamy peanut butter topping, also highly recommend! Our server was quick, helpful, and kind. Also the food and drinks came out quickly, even with being pretty busy for a Friday night. We made a reservation, which we ended up not needing because we got there before 6pm, but we for sure would've needed one if we got there after 6:30pm because it was getting busy. Overall, the ambiance was perfect for a summer date night or chill night with friends, food was varying and delicious, and service was great. Will definitely be back!

We went here to celebrate my daughter's birthday. It's a nice restaurant. They do have indoor and patio dining. We had a party of 16 so it's great for large groups. Very cute place. They also had live music outside. They have the Famous Barr French Onion soup. It was pretty good, it was a little sweet. I ordered the Banh Mi tacos. They were delicious. Full of flavor with a little heat. I tasted the sushi crab Rangoon - it was good. I had a mocktail because they were out of the Blood Orange Ginger Mojito (they just opened!) I can't recall the name of the drink it was a Tropcial something and absolutely delicious!!! Plenty of parking. I suggest making a reservation. Great place!

To start, the ambiance at Hangar was 10/10. It has such cozy vibes for a date night, or could accommodate a larger party (like we had) for a birthday! The low lighting and rustic decor was so inviting. We had several different courses and loved pretty much all we had. I highly recommend the Carne Asada tacos. They had a generous amount of tender meat, with all the fixins! The tempura cod tacos were crispy, fresh, and delicious. Our server was really great, but I do think the larger party might have been hard for him in addition to the other tables. He was really great though, and made sure we had what we needed. They brought out a skillet cookie with a sparkler for my friend's birthday and it was delicious! Melted chocolate with a hint of peanut butter and a giant scoop of vanilla ice cream. A perfect end to the night.

I came for a HH and enjoyed three different cocktails. My first was a Gold Rush. It's basically a Bees Knees with Vodka instead of Gin. It was light and refreshing, making it a great start. The second cocktail was one of my all-time favorites, a Old Fashioned. I can honestly say, it was one of the best, if not the absolute best one I have ever had. I finished the HH with a Espresso Martini. It was a good ending to my HH. They use a Cold Brew instead of true espresso, so it had a milder coffee taste. My nosh while drinking was a, Jalapeño Popper Dip. It was okay, in my opinion, it did not fit the description on the menu. Especially, the type of chips described. My friend ordered, The Small Board and it was fantastic and a good value. Our bartenders were friendly and as I stated earlier, they are masters of their skill. What stopped them from getting a 5 Star review, is simple. They do not offer a Martini on their Happy Hour Menu. I had my first dinner of my stay at Olive + Oak, and it blew me away from the moment I laid my eyes on it. From the unsuspecting street outside, the giant windows glow with the warm, sparkling light from within. An elegant dining room with a beautiful bar and a good amount of hustle and bustle. I felt like I was at an upscale New Orleans joint. Very cozy. Service was just as beautiful. Our server was extremely nice, new the menu backwards and forwards, and rattled off the nightly specials without hesitation. And on top of all of that, when we were getting some stuff to-go, she threw in more bread for us! You can't train that level of service. That's just a good person. Onto the food. We started off with the Blue Crab Gratin (calabrian chili, celery + pretzel bread). This was ooey, gooey, cheesy, delicious, had a fair amount of crab in it, had a nice little kick, and the sliced, crunchy pretzel bread dippers were exquisite. Something seasonal that isn't on their menu anymore, we ordered an Okonomiyaki, which is a savory Japanese pancake, basically, covered in sauce. Wow, this thing was done well. Very reminiscent of the authentic thing I've had in Japan. Very nice. Another dish that isn't on the menu anymore, the Catfish dish. It was slightly Asian and on top of some sort of risotto rice. I can't remember exactly, but I do remember that it was very well cooked, had a nice char. An eclectic dish that came together very nicely. I also got to try some of the Rabbit Crepe (port wine braised rabbit, blueberry, fennel, arugula + kenny's bleu gouda crepe). Some people might shudder at the idea of eating rabbit. Those people need to grow up. Rabbit is one of the most succulent, delicious meats out there, and in this wonderful flavor combination, in a crepe. This chef is genius. I could have downed two of these things. We finished off the night with the recommended Cloud Cake (vanilla chiffon cake, coconut pastry cream, coconut + whipped cream icing). This thing was de-ca-dent. A nice, thicc sponge, a very coconuty cream, and a whipped icing with lots of coconut pulp in it. So heavenly. Overall, my socks were blown off. Not only does St. Louis have good food, this was a better meal than I had in Nashville and Kansas City. Who would have guessed. I would love to come back.

There was a 20-30 minute wait so we found seats at the bar and ordered cocktails. Very good. Very strong. The Block is a great space. Tall ceilings, warm & inviting, perhaps a little low lighting for us challenged folks, but nice, easy to read menus made up for it. A busser brought us water and shortly behind him was Laura-Beth, (our server) with a big smile and menus. After explaining the menu, specials, and taking our drink orders she left us to think about our choices. The menu is a little limited but includes sandwiches as well as entrees including fish option.. Being a "butcher" restaurant we both opted for the ribeye, medium rare. The steak comes only with fries which I ordered while my date went for whipped potatoes. I also went for a side of spinach. We also split a Block Salad as a starter. Choosing to split the Block Salad was a good idea. It was more than enough for two. It was great version of a chopped salad with fresh greens, bacon, smoked ham, egg, house-smoked cheddar, tomatoes, red onion, dressed with just enough buttermilk dressing. Really enjoyed it and just the right amount of salad. Only criticism is not salt and pepper on the table. Probably by design but disappointing. Next came our steaks and sides. We both ordered medium-rare. Her steak was a little under but close enough. My steak was raw in the center. I should have said something but there wasn't so much it was inedible for me. Better under than over! The seasoned fries were good and the whipped potatoes very good were delicious. The fresh spinach was cooked perfect, but under seasoned. All in all, good sides. We finished with Irish Coffee and vanilla ice cream. Kudos to the staff A special thank you to our server Laura-Beth. Surprisingly, it still worked. I ordered the Good Burger, and it was honestly one of the most flavorful smash burgers I've ever had. I was genuinely impressed. I got the sauce on the side since it also came with the onion rings, and unfortunately, I wasn't a fan of it -- it was a bit runny and lacked flavor.
