Went in today for two items with my toddler. Long line of customers with one person manning the register and helping others so poor planning on their part. I went to grab one of the things I needed and found it was locked??? We are in Centerville so why is a simple screwdriver set locked? Which was extremely aggravating as I was short on time with a restless toddler. But I needed the tool so I waited in the cashier line since there was no one else around to ask for help. When I got to the front I asked him to unlock the item. He said that he would help me, but is going to ring the lady out who was behind me first....strike 1 as I had been already waiting for a while and now he wants to help others who were behind me. He didn't even ask me if that would be alright with me. He rings the lady out, which was a water jug exchange. She asks him to take the new jug to the car. He tells me to wait "four seconds"as he takes the water to her car. Strike 2 Why couldn't that lady wait until he helped me? Clearly as a black woman in a predominantly white neighborhood it was very evident my time was not as important or important at all as this white woman's. I wait then a considerable amount of time until FINALLY other employees show up out the blue. I ask one of them if they can help me and he apprehensively with raised eyebrows goes "Okkkkayy, what do you need". Strike 3 The micro racial aggression is palpable at this point. Like no mention of an apology of the very clear fact there is no one around, I need help, and no ask if I had been waiting a while. Which I have but the cashier thought helping other people was more of a priority than helping me. On top of that the second item I needed was simply a power screwdriver which they don't have in stock. What kind of hardware store doesn't have that... Overall a terrible experience. Not going back. And finding more avenues to post this review and give 1 star for one of the worst customer service experiences I have had in my life. read more

If you want a great hometown feel store this is it. There are always people close by to help you find what you need. I like that you can get in and out quickly or just take your time and look around at all of the unusual new items they have just received. read more

I went to ace hardware to get a battery for my car key. I went just expecting to buy the battery, but when I asked if they had a small screwdriver I could use, they offered to replace the battery entirely for me at no extra cost. My car key is now fixed because of the employees outstanding customer service. read more

I was in your Centerville location on 11/1 and was needing help with spackling. I stopped a girl named Melanie to see if she could assist me but she seemed put off by my interruption as she was talking and laughing with another employee wearing a red vest. She barely turned her head as she pointed towards the direction and said aisle 16. I needed to find out what materials I needed to patch a plaster wall. I was shocked speechless at her dismissive attitude so I went to Lowes instead and received the excellent service that I should have been given at Ace. I will definitely not be back to any Handyman locations if this is the type of service you give customers. I'll be letting my friends and family know about the level of customer care you have. read more

Every single time I go to this store, I have problems. Every. Single. Time. Either they don't have what I need, or the service is complete garbage. Last time I went, I stood at the register for four minutes while I watched the cashier talk to a friend down the aisle. Three other employees walked by and not one stopped to ask if I had been helped yet. Least friendly bunch you'll ever encounter in a hardware store and the quality of the items they sell is terrible too- Cheap Chinese crap. read more

I will always go to this store before hitting the mega home improvement stores. They usually have whatever I need, the prices are reasonable and I truly like the "neighborhood hardware store" feel it has. Great store. read more

I have been going here for 25+ years, back when it was Centerville Mill. I can get some things there I can't get at the big box stores. One thing is they do propane fills. Today I went to fill one of my tanks. They had about three tanks getting filled. The process is that the tank gets picked up at the front of the store and taken to the back behind the building and filled at the bulk propane tank. You then pick up your tank after paying. I had a relatively new tank (less than a year) with only three fills. One of the other people getting a tank filled walked off with mine. I complained because of how new my tank was and the tank that was left was older and worn. Store management replaced the tank at no expense to me. They need to improve their process, but they did good by me. read more

Good luck getting help here. This place reminds me why I miss the old fashioned hardware store where the employees actually knew the products and something about home repair. It's smaller than the mega boxes but the trade-off is much less in stock and more limited hours. My husband and I were looking for an iWeber II thermometer for our smoker. We found one for $79.99 on Ace's website. We went to this location and they had raised the price to $99.99. They would not match the website. I called and found out that the independent stores can choose their own prices. So, if you want to be price gouged, this is the store for you. We are headed to Walmart where the same item is $67. read more

Ace always has the hardware and tools I need for any big project I have coming up! The employees are so helpful at finding exactly what I need, when I need it! As soon as you walk in you are greeted and asked what you need help with then immediately given assistance to the exact locations/information of/about the tools or equipment I need. I could not recommend this EXACT Ace Hardware any more! PS Emily is an amazing cashier and was very quick and friendly!! read more
