This store has terrible customer service. I bought 16 gallons of paint last September during their buy one, get a rebate on one sale. The store rang all the paint up on the same bill and I received a rebate only for about half of what should have been credited. The rebate department told me that the items should have been rung separately instead of together which is consistent with what the rebate paperwork states. I was directed to the store to make my situation right. The first manager I spoke to insinuated that I was incorrect and told me that I would be called by the store manager the next day. I was not. Two days later I returned to the store and through customer service, was directed to speak to the store manager. I waited 45 minutes and left-clearly, he didn't have the good graces to answer me in person. I have been a long-time Lowe's customer. I do not like Home Depot and have spent well in excess of $100k at Lowe's in the last 25 years having rehabbed 2 historical homes in Dayton. I just purchased a 1859 farmhouse about 3 miles from this store and have planned for about $45,000 worth of materials for improvements. This store will receive none of it. Customer service at this location is in the toilet. We ordered a replacement glass for our front door and paid for it Oct. 31. We were told it was in stock ar the factory and would be 2 weeks...tops. waited 3 weeks and went in to check, and they told us it would be in on Friday. Friday our son went to check and it wasnt in. They couldnt give him an estimate on when it would arrive. The store manager told him " this company doesnt ship to us on a regular basis and we just dont know." My son said we paid up front and our home wasnt secure and they needed to call and get it asap. They asked him why he was hostile? After we ordered (and paid) I tried to schedule installation. "We dont do that." Huh? You cant install what you sell? " Nope....only install new doors." I offered to pay a full door price and was told "nope" Five weeks and it finally arrived but they couldnt find it. They did allow my son to go back and locate it. And the door is finally fixed. It was an eyesore and I cringed every time I looked at it. Lowes are closing stores all over the country. One thing for sure...we will never ever be getting together again. I've learned over 10 years that unless Lowe's is the only store with the product, I generally avoid them altogether. Interestingly, when I do shop there for a particular item, it's often been a while so I don't know exactly whether they have it at all or where it's located in the store. Ironically, I always get to ask a Lowe's employee who've I've just interrupted from a face to face social chat with another Lowe's employ (95% of the time). The interrupted party who then offers to help is unable to find the item on a palm reader because they don't have any idea what I'm asking for so they must call somebody else to ask, and on and on. I got a 50% chance the next employee doesn't know. The excuse for this inconvenience is always because it was someone new or the item was out of their area of expertise, etc. Then, I typically stand a 20% chance I find it on the way out, they don't have it or I get the cliche, I can order it on line. My husband and I have been long time shoppers of Lowe's. We recently moved from California to Ohio. We wanted to do some home improvements and decided to use their contractors. Our first experience which unfortunately was combined with our second project. A garage door opener, simple right? We did get it installed relatively quickly. Within 9 days it stopped working. We called and reported it. Technician came out and determined. Part needed to be replaced. We were informed Lowes would order the replacement part and it would be sent to us at home. We could then schedule for that part to be replaced. 3 weeks later, my husband called to follow up. We were assured they would find out what the issue was and they would call us back. Just to make clear now...NO ONE EVER CALLS BACK, keep that in mind as I continue with my story. Husbands calls back again, and is told they are going to Just ship us an entire new opener. Okay, we hear from the installer, they schedule to come out and replace. Installer shows up, we don't have the garbage door opener and neither does the installer. My husband passes off the future calling to Lowe's Installation to me. I have 40+ years of customer service experience. I call. I am told that they will send a message to the store and they have 48 hours to respond. This as the installer is sitting here. I nicely told the lady that was unacceptable. To call the store, make sure they know I will do their job and come and pick up the garage door opener. That task has now been completed. After the door opener was first installed (before it broke down) we decided to go with Lowes for our fencing in the backyard. A gentleman from Lowe's came out, his name was Shawn. We had heard from reaching out to other contractors the back log was long. I specifically asked Shawn how long would this take? He said in 3 weeks we would have a fence. We have two dogs that have been confined to the house now for well over 2 months with the exceptions of walks. We received PART of our order that is sitting in our front yard. With no notification that it was going to be delivered or when. Okay! We hear from the installer, they wanted to schedule for the following week. We inform them we are missing one gate from our order. So! From the start of the story, while at Lowe's and I had access to an employee and manager, I bring up the gate. This was on A Thursday. They researched and found that another Lowes location had the fence were needed. They would get it picked up so it can be delivered to us with the other items necessary for that gate to be installed. Come to find our Shawn apparently didn't put the order in correctly. I call in Friday to find out if the gate was picked up and when could we be expecting it? Famous words, we will call you back. At 4:50 I called back and was informed that at 4:56pm they had sent someone to get that fence. That she would go ahead and submit for the installer to contact to schedule the work. I call back Monday to confirm the fence was there. The gentleman I spoke to told me it was there and he would put in the request for installers to contact me. So they also lie, as I was told this was done on Friday at 4:56. Later on Monday I called to ensure our items were going to be delivered? I was told an Anthony in delivery would be calling me to let me know when it would be delivered. No call. I call again, where I am put on eternal hold. Every once in awhile some one would pick up as I would hear voices, and I would be put back on hold. After 20 minutes of this, I hung up and got in my car and drive to Lowe's. I let them know I needed to speak to a manager where I was told "good luck, get in line" I begin to think this may not go well because at this point I wanted to drive my car into their building. Then a man comes towards me and asks if he can help. This man's name is Jerrod. It didn't even take him 5 minutes to get a resolution. the remaining items were delivered within an hour and a half. This should make me happy right? NO! I call the installer to schedule. I am out 3 weeks now due to theirs incompetence and total lack of customer service or the meaning of it. Had a washer and dryer delivered and installed on 7/12/23. Delivery guys hooked up everything. Next morning dryer kept shutting off. Investigated and found the guys had smashed the dryer vent hose flat. Avoid any hook ups on appliances or anything from these goof balls. We ordered lumber for pick-up and came when we got confirmation it was ready. The parking lot was normal for a Sunday afternoon, and the pick-up spots were bare. We were the only ones in the spots when we arrived. I called and gave them our order number and what spot we were in. 30 minutes passed...then 45...I had to call back again to give them the save information and they told me it would be another 10 minutes until they could probably get our order out to us. The employees on the phone sounded like they couldn't be bothered, and they simply didn't care. Don't offer this service if you can't support it a waste of my hour and my $100. I bought a generator at the end of March and finally unboxed it at the end of May - yes more than 30 days after purchase this negating my right to return it. It was slick with oil all over the box and at first I thought the was done on purpose as rust protection. I assembled the wheels and the handle, checked the oil and filled it with fresh gas and after 100 pulls I finally gave up. I then noticed oil was dripping all over my garage floor. I moved the generator several feet and came back to it the next day to discover a new puddle of oil. After 50 pulls, I gave up. I then surmised that the generator had been shipped to the store on its side, causing oil to leak all over. No idea why they ship with oil in the first place. There was oil in the carburetor, and the air filter was soaked. I called Lowe's and they could not spit it out fast enough that I could not return it. I said "ok, just fix it, it has never started". When I made my way down to the store they informed me that I would be on the hook for $125 and if the repairs were going to be more than that, I would get a call. 4 weeks later no call. I called the store and they told me "oh yes it is back" and that they had contacted me. I have no missed calls nor voice mails from Lowe's. I went down to the store to pick it up and now they "can't find it". A manger was put on the case to look for it personally this past Tuesday. It is now Friday and no phone calls from him. All I want it my $700 back and they can keep it when they find it. I can't believe the amount of fumbling and stumbling that has been done by then the whole customer service team on this. Contractors here are a joke. Scheduled fencing and a gate through them, they were extremely rude and didn't feel the the need to contact us when scheduling didn't work out. Thankfully the project is completed and the work was fine. I was considering a huge siding replacement through them that definitely won't happen now due to this experience. Typically I like Lowe's and use the for most of my home supplies. However my latest order has just been a series of frustrations and fails. I ordered a cabinet and vanity online. They said online it would be delivered on the 13th of October. I received a call on the 9th saying it was in store and that they'd call me to arrange delivery. On the 12th I still heard nothing so I called them. It took talking to four people before someone could find my order and then told me that the dimmest it could be delivered was the 27th! When I asked about why no one called before they had no answer but also said that was their earliest date. So on the 14th we arranged our own transport and asked for a shipping refund. I called to find out the carton size, but they couldn't identify the carton. Do they estimated the size. The next day we had to wait an hour for them to find our order, but they only found one of two items and said they'd call when they found the second. Two hours later they called to say they found it and it was at the desk. I wasn't able to make it until the 15th and now I have been waiting an hour as they try to find my item. read more

I order a refrigerator on April 22, 2020. They called to schedule and confirm the delivery on April 23, 2020. I was told it would be delivered 7:30 to 11:30 am. On April 24, 2020 at 10:18 am. I was called and told that they did not have the refrigerator and I should call around to find it so they can transfer the sale. Well an hour later I was told by a lowes store in centerville that it was filled and waiting on delivery by the dayton mall store. Called back to Dayton mall store and told they didn't have it at the time of scheduled delivery. I spoke with a male manager who hung up on me. Then called back and spoke with a female manager who said it was in the store and would be delivered on saturday. Then she said it would have to be delivered on Sunday. I should be getting a call to schedule the delivery Saturday night after 6 PM. It is now Sunday morning no phone call from them. I called the store yet again, and was put on hold, no answer, and then hung up on again. Checked the order status and seen it is scheduled for delivery April 26, 2020 from 8 am to 8 pm. Called back and the lady sent me to the delivery phone and it just rang until the line disconnected the phone call. I called back and then get told that the delivery people don't come in until am and to call back in an hour. So now im waiting still for some kind of answer. Will update the end if it ever gets delivered. Well another 2 hours on these phone after it was not going to be delivered. They was going to give me a loaner one until the one I ordered came in. My parents didn't want to have to move the food 2 more times. Ended up cancelling the order. Went to Springfield lowes and they called to order the refrigerator and was told no because they discontinued that one. They ended up selling me the floor display. May get it tomorrow. read more

Instantly a very large (I mean gigantic) Black man with a very friendly smile came to my rescue! (I actually needed 3 of those things.) He helped me with all three & brought them to my car and refused a tip! I said "I'll bet they took one look at you and hired you on the spot!" (Did I say his name was Marcus?) We ordered 3 new doors & 2 storms from Lowes in Centerville, Ohio on Apr 3rd. A man came out & measured. 'WE' looked at the measurements & realized they were wrong. Another man came out to measure. The installers came in June. Only 1 of the doors was correct. The installers gave the measurements to the Lowe's door department for re-order. We are still waiting to hear if the doors have been delivered. We received a call that they would be in July 2nd. This is ridiculous. read more

First of all if I could give zero stars I would we purchased a small vacuum July 2020 as of January 2021 the vacuum is not working I called this Lowe's explained the situation to the associate name Case that answered the phone advised him I did not have the receipt and the vacuum was over 90 days old but it was less than a year he told me to bring the vacuum cleaner in and even though I would not be able to get my money back that I would be able to get a gift card or do an exchange. I arrived at Lowe's and was waited on by an associate named Shawnda, who I will admit tried, in the end they said there was nothing they could do even though the purchase was made on a Lowe's credit card, they would not assist, I didn't want money back just a vacuum that worked. In the end the did nothing. I would like to finish by adding there was a Caucasian gentleman at the next register returning items over a year old with no receipt, they took care of him and the only difference between the two of us was he was a white male, and I'm a black female, so it appears Lowe's chooses who they want to assist, and I being a black female did not fall into the correct category. I bought a dishwasher at Lowe's over a month ago. I was told by the salesman the dishwasher would be installed within two weeks. Well in actuality, the installation was out five weeks. OK, disappointing but that's all right. So last week the installer called and left a message giving me a two hour installation time. I called them back and told them the only time of the day I could not be there was those two hours. Unfortunately she couldn't do it any other time and they only come to Wilmington on Thursdays so they had to move it to the next week. OK, I can do that. What time are you going to come? Well I can't tell you I'll have to call you the night before when I make my schedule. OK I will wait for your call. Last night, no call. I started getting nervous so I called the installers number. No answer. I called Lowe's. They took my number and said they would have a manager call me back. No call. I called this morning at 8 o'clock. The appliance man said he would call the installer. Well they didn't have any record of me needing a dishwasher installed. Now I'm getting hot. I called Lowe's back and asked to speak to a manager. We don't have a manager here today. So a lady is trying to help me and calling the installer again. But six weeks later, I have no dishwasher, no installation date, and cannot speak to a manager at Lowe's because the Lowe's in Wilmington does not have such a beast. I'm a firm believer that customer service and sales are the backbone to any business, not matter how large. My dad managed smaller regional lumber yards for most of his career and always hated these large box stores (still does) and I know why, for the most part they employ people who could care less about what they do, just collecting a pay check and it shows. To be totally fair, I have come to this Lowes and have gotten good customer service, at least what one would expect. My wife and I know nothing about home improvement but wanted to buy some paint, primer, etc. for the task at hand, we wanted someone to say, follow me and I'd be glad to help! The lady at the paint counter made us feel #1 stupid for not knowing what we were talking about and #2 awkward because we felt like we were putting her out by asking questions. Maybe the paint fumes had gotten to her but she was just about downright rude, she could have sold us more "stuff" byt making suggestions, instead we were anxious to get just the bare minimum and head for the door. If I could rate Lowe's with zero stars, i would. In February, we contracted with Lowe's to have a vinyl plank floor installed in our kitchen and connected laundry room. A few months later, we noticed the baseboards in the laundry room were turning an odd color. To the touch, they were dry. We then noticed droplets of water coming through the vinyl floor. After checking everything we thought may be causing this, a final decision was to replace our dishwasher (5) years old. No water leak found. At this point, we were determined to find the cause. We found out! With a fine tooth comb and flashlight, we noticed that the installer (subcontractor) installed the vinyl plank over the drain pipe where the water drains from our heat pump water heater. We then called our Insurance Company who sent a Restoration Group down to clean the damage. Mold was found in our laundry room drywall and baseboards. After a job well done by the restoration group was completed, we found out our Insurance Policy has a clause that which states that water damage is not covered concealed or not after 15 days. It has been a nightmare trying to deal with Lowe's. It is one thing to drop the ball, but they let it roll into the sewer. Lowe's subcontracted to Ultimate Flooring who acts as their general contractor who then subcontracted to Joshua Flooring in Springfield, Ohio. Lowe's adjuster said it is a clear case of installer error. Joshua Flooring Insurance had lapsed. At this point, it is anyone's guess. My opinion, do not do business with Lowe's. It is worth the difference in price, to have a reputable contractor who has their own employees. we learned the hard way! We will be taking legal action. read more

In late July 2018 I contacted Lowes to purchase and install two vanity tops in my bathrooms. Due to manufacturing defects, installation delays, and lack of in store communication, the installation was finally completed on Jan 10, 2019 after more than FIVE months. Space here doesn't allow me to detail the 6-7 different issues involving product quality, installation failures, and just general neglect by Lowes during this process. Partway through the process (Oct-Nov) I spoke with my salesman expressing concern that I had not had any contact from a store manager, and that the $100 gift card the salesman offered me (probably the extend of his authority, which I understand) was pretty much an insult. Later that day, I was contacted by a person identifying himself as a store manager. In our conversation he offered me compensation that I would be credited the cost of one of the two vanity tops. After another two months the installation was finally completed, the overall store manager is now reneging on that compensation. Today I've learned the store manager claims he and the district manager have tried to contact me multiple times this week, while both caller id and voicemail on my two phones indicate I have not been contacted by anyone from Lowes, except for ONE call in response to my contact. It is now quite apparent that this Lowes store is now trying to sweep the whole issue under the rug...after a simple purchase and installation took over FIVE months to complete. I have been a regular customer of Lowe's up till our recent experience with their flooring and installation department. We had laminate flooring installed in our house last fall that started shifting and buckling this spring. There is supposedly a one-year warranty on installation of this product. We have been attempting to get this issue resolved for the past two months with no resolution. Lowe's keeps changing their position on replacing the floor, which was the recommendation of the new installer they sent out to inspect it. Meanwhile, I have been paying for a floor that is unsafe to walk on. If a company states that they do professional installation, then they need to stand behind their work and products. This has not been the case. I will never use them again for any type of flooring products or installation. read more
