I went to grab one of the things I needed and found it was locked??? We are in Centerville so why is a simple screwdriver set locked? Which was extremely aggravating as I was short on time with a restless toddler. But I needed the tool so I waited in the cashier line since there was no one else around to ask for help. When I got to the front I asked him to unlock the item. He said that he would help me, but is going to ring the lady out who was behind me first....strike 1 as I had been already waiting for a while and now he wants to help others who were behind me. He didn't even ask me if that would be alright with me. He rings the lady out, which was a water jug exchange. She asks him to take the new jug to the car. He tells me to wait "four seconds"as he takes the water to her car. Strike 2 Why couldn't that lady wait until he helped me? Clearly as a black woman in a predominantly white neighborhood it was very evident my time was not as important or important at all as this white woman's. I wait then a considerable amount of time until FINALLY other employees show up out the blue. I ask one of them if they can help me and he apprehensively with raised eyebrows goes "Okkkkayy, what do you need". Strike 3 The micro racial aggression is palpable at this point. Like no mention of an apology of the very clear fact there is no one around, I need help, and no ask if I had been waiting a while. Which I have but the cashier thought helping other people was more of a priority than helping me. On top of that the second item I needed was simply a power screwdriver which they don't have in stock. What kind of hardware store doesn't have that... Overall a terrible experience. Not going back. And finding more avenues to post this review and give 1 star for one of the worst customer service experiences I have had in my life.

I've been a customer here for more than 25 years and I've always had excellent service and spot on accurate advice. They are under new ownership and have recently doubled their store space by making over the adjacent building. Here's an example of my experiences here: my wife bought a new microwave oven at an auction. We brought it home, took it out of the box, plugged it in and nothing. I took the cover off and discovered a blown fuse. I took the fuse to True Value and they said it was most likely a defective fuse rather than a problem with the microwave. They had a new fuse and when I plugged it in it worked just fine. They also rent equipment and when I've rented things they have all worked fine - like new. True Value - you get an A+! I'm so glad your in Troy!

The first order that I picked up a course double checked it and noticed there were several items missing from the order. after dumping the box to check each item they also noticed missing parts. Before I left they did correct it. The staff were very friendly the Store was neat and tidy overall presentation of the place was orderly and helpful.

My wife and I spend a fortune at this store every year, but the customer service has been awful…read morelately. This last weekend we were looking to purchase all new bedding. Back in that section was a congregation (5) of employees looking like they were having a casual chat. A few minutes later we needed help finding out if something we wanted was out of stock or simply in the storages areas we can't reach. We putzed around looking for other bedding items for a good 15 minutes before any sales associates re-appeared. This time there were 2 younger employees congregating in that section. One was sitting in the chairs meant for customers at the desk and they were both staring at their phones. We walked up to them and stood there for a good 30 seconds looking at them (obviously needing their help) when finally I had to ask "Are either of you guys on the clock right now?". We went back the next day to purchase a few things we needed the next day. We didn't need the help of any associates, but when we needed to check out there was a long line and 2 people on register. One was on the phone and not helping anyone. The other left the counter when she was done helping the customer she was with. As the line grew longer and longer (no cashiers checking ANYONE out) we walked up where the girl had previously been checking folks out (the register light was on indicating it was open) and stood there for several minutes watching the other employee still talking on the phone. Management needs to really step it up at this location.

So, I went to the store to cancel and order something online that would be quick. I told the associate why I needed to cancel....his reply..."Not a problem." I told him I needed something now that I could take home that day. I looked around and found exactly what I needed. I was able to purchase it then and load it up! It's perfect. I stopped in a few weeks later to thank them. I will shop there in a second if I need anything more.

He will tell you that you can order it on line and have it delivered to the store just like they can. By the way no you can't which is why i asked the store to help, but as mentioned do not ask Bob unless you want a thorough a scolding. I buy alot if horse feed and thought TSC would be appreciative of my orders but guess not according to Bob. Time for me to find a different place to buy my feed!
