I have always had positive experiences here! The whole staff is very kind and experienced, and my nails always come out looking great. On my most recent visit, I decided to try dip nails, and I was skeptical at first but I think they came out absolutely beautifully. They are on the pricier side, which is why I deducted a star, but a super convenient, great, local nail spot!

Nothing short about their service , quality and the vibe of their nail salon. First thing I recognized the smell of infused oil relaxing aromatherapy. We requested 5 different nail polish for manicure and pedicure, they could not be more patience and welcoming of our request. I messed up my toe after I left and I went back to ask if they could fix it and they were very happy to do so. It was our first time at Hands Down and I would definitely go back. Prices were not bad for a fancy town like Claremont.

I had never gotten dip powder before, this changed my mind forever!

Stephanie is the best! I now get gel manicures instead of dip. she does not disappoint. I never thought I would be able to go TWO To THREE WEEKS with gel (before I started to come to hands down salon, every time I got gel within that same day they would start to chip) but Stephanie does them so beautifully that my gel manicure last that long. highly recommend her (:

I love this place. They are very friendly and professional. It doesn't matter who you get they all do an amazing job. I am happy with my nails every time I go.

The experience was good, kind people lots of regulars. Very disappointed with how it came out though. Was fairly priced about $65 but I'm gonna have to go get them fixed because I didn't notice how uneven and fat looking they were until I left.

First time going in and I was not disappointed! I have tried three other salons before this one and never left satisfied. Customer service was absolutely top notch. I went in on a whim and had my 11wk old baby with me. Not only did they get me in right away, they were extremely accommodating when it came to me needing to hold my baby. They worked around what I needed and checked in frequently to make sure not only I was good but my daughter as well. I noticed as people walked in who were regulars, they knew everyone's name and greeted them so friendly. Stephanie started my dip manicure and T finished for her (they both did amazing!). I had a picture of what I wanted done and they made it happen! Kim did my pedicure and also did amazing and took her time. I even booked another appointment to come back. Highly recommend!

Okay I have literally never in my life written a yelp review, but I absolutely had to for this nail salon. Seriously one of the best experiences I've ever had getting my nails done. Everyone was SO kind and super helpful. Within the hour there, there were about 7 regulars that came in (which is always a great sign to me) and they all knew each other by name. Anyways, besides the incredibly kind people, my nails look BANGIN' and I love them. Exactly what I wanted. I tried dip for the first time and it looks amazing! Also added extensions. GO HERE!!!!

Chipped gel polish after 72 hours $52 down the drain

I went here on a Friday afternoon, when my usual place had to close unexpectedly due to a family emergency. I walked in and was quickly accepted for an eyebrow wax, then waited about 10-15 minutes for a nail technician to do a gel fill. The technician, Hanah, did a good job overall, she took time & care to shape my nails in the coffin shape I had requested. Her fill technique was much different than my usual place, but they looked good when I left. Although, I felt like she was a little too rough will cuticles, I left with at least 4 fingers bleeding. The 1 star is due 2 things: - mostly that it has been just about 72 hours and the gel has already chipped. I've had gel for about 6 years now, and I have literally NEVER had it chip, even when I was working in a brewery/restaurant (I now work in an office). There is also A LOT of pitting and scuffing in the gel already. - second: the inability to tip on a card/Apple Pay. There was no sign, or if there was it wasn't obvious enough for someone who actually pays attention to detail to notice. When I asked the owner (who rang me up), she said, "there's an ATM behind you"...that costs $1.50 fee, and would require a debit card, which I did not have on me. I had intended on returning this week to tip, but now that I've wasted $52 dollars on a gel fill that lasted less than 72 hours, I will most definitely not be back ever again.

I cannot recommend this place enough! My job is very hard on my nails and this is one of the few places that offers SNS nails (they don't chip!). I am also terrible at picking what color I want and Thy always comes up with amazing ideas (She recently did asilver sparkle SNS ombré creation! It's amazing!) Everything is exceptionally clean (sterilized packs and even plastic liners for your foot bath). They also give extra long leg/foot massages! I used to bounce around nail salons but as soon as I found Hands Down I haven't gone to any other place. I recommend making an appointment, but I have always been able to get same day. Everyone there is so nice and You really get your money's worth!! read more

Tee did a beautiful and detailed job on my nails!! It was my first time getting SNS dip powder nails and I am in love with how my natural nails were able to be shaped into gorgeous and long almond shapes and made stronger with the dip. She extended one of my nails with a tip because it was shorter than the others. Even though she put 3 layers of dip on, my nails still don't look too thick, which I was worried about. I requested the look be finished with unicorn aurora powder over my white dip (with an aurora glitter dip already placed on my ring fingers with no base color) and I have received SO MANY compliments!! I highly recommend Tee because she has a very aesthetic eye and takes pride in her work. Thank you Tee!! read more

I visited the new location at 234 Yale, which opened on January 2nd. "Hands down too". First of all, this salon is absolutely beautiful. Stylish, attractive and definitely clean. The staff is amazing and friendly, and they all speak great English. They make sure you are comfortable throughout the entire process. The salon is a little pricey $32 for gel mani and $32 for pedicure with a student discount. However, for the location and the sophistication of the salon, it is definitely reasonable and worth it!! They have a great selection of gel colors, and are willing to help you find your perfect color. They did get a little busy at one point, but they jumped around to make sure everyone was being helped by someone at all times. Each nail technician that helped me gave me more attention and care than I ever expected. I don't live in Claremont, but I would definitely consider driving back here just to get my nails done again! PLUS their massage chairs are AMAZING. I could sit here for hours. One of the best I've been in! (They have 10 chairs too, which is great for groups!) read more

Completely overpriced Crappy service Mediocre performance I, like other reviewers, have no clue how this nail salon has good reviews. The ladies that work here are SLOW. I had a pedicure and gel manicure done. Ana did my pedicure and it felt great, very relaxing! That was about the only positive part about the whole experience. Tanu did my manicure and she kept getting up and leaving to answer the phone ( her personal cell phone!) and she even took a threading client while she was working on me. That was incredibly annoying. I only came here to try it out and because I work nearby. I regret coming. I will stick to Classy Nail where I would have paid half the price for a far superior product. read more

Wow...I'm about to go change all the 5 stars I've left for other nail salons. This place is the place. Wow I was impressed at how natural they make my nails look. I came in with nasty acrylics I got done, they were thick and some nails were not the same size. Krystal made sure to made them look so nice and thin, so natural, sooooo nice. I was so impressed so happy with the end product. Although a bit more expensive for the gel, it didn't hurt because it was so awesome. So amazing. I am so happy. I will be coming back!!! Thanks Krystal, you're the bombbbb! Update: Two of my nails have broken. Maybe too thin isn't a good idea. Some of the gel is chipping off too wtf, this is not what I paid for! read more

Completed 1st visit to Hands Down today after searching online for somewhere that didn't have a lot of negative reviews. Came to Hands Down and I said, this is the place to try, and so I did. Was a bit early for my appointment and was ready to sit and wait, but was called to the chair for my pedicure. Hannah was very cordial/charming, a bit on the quiet side, but very thorough and good at her craft. OK, I'm a guy and love being pampered and I was. Hannah took her time and ensured that the service was to my liking. The foot massage was so relaxing. She was gentle with the clipping of the nails and removing the cuticle. I figured, if this was to my liking, might as well get the mani while I'm here. Again, very pleased with the service, staff is really great and friendly. Was able to carry conversations with the ladies next to my station. I've paid for more elsewhere and received less in time and quality of work. Will certainly come back and be a regular customer. Easy to find, lots of parking in spite of the Pie Festival that was going on near the Metro Link. Thanks, Hannah! read more

First time here and i absolutely loved everything about this place! Greeted by friendly faces, helped right away, and service was amazing! i was able to get my mani done by Thi and my pedi done by Theresa! They were bomb.com! Their massage chairs are legit. i like how small and intimate the place is. All their regulars came in this afternoon and it's so comforting seeing their interactions. :) There's 2 locations btw! I came to Hands Down to get a mani pedi and get my eyebrows REHABILITATED (after a terrible experience at different place) and I was immediately welcomed by a woman who I think may be the owner. She asked for my name and what kind of mani pedi I wanted and I told her I didn't want gel, but she introduced me to an exclusive type of gel that comes off like a nail polish but finishes like a conventional gel, it is GORGEOUS and does not strip the nails so they will grow healthy AND won't chip. On top of the amazing products, the service was the best I've ever experienced. Theresa and Lan worked on my nails and pedi, Lan gave a very detail-oriented massage to my legs and feet! It was amazing and definitely the longest massage I have ever received without having to pay for the service. Then, I went to get my eye brows threaded with care and precision by Tanu, a sweet and down to earth woman who helped me to rehab my eyebrows and slowly grow them back to my shape after having them messed up elsewhere. She is absolutely amazing and if you're anywhere in the vicinity, GO TO HER for any type of hair removal!! Overall, the service was personal, I was addressed by name, served ice cold water, and treated like a true guest by everyone servicing me. The atmosphere is extremely friendly, the venue itself is very clean and well kept, and the service is so beyond worth it! The 5 stars is for Cary, the esthetician, at this salon. She is awesome! I have been going to her for my eyebrows, arms, bikini and other waxing services for about a year now. She is the only person that I will let touch my brows. She has helped me get my brows back into shape from years of abuse (on my part - over plucking!)! I followed Cary to this little salon and it is just too cute. I have yet to get a mani and pedi here but am tempted each time I stop by to see Cary for my services. The salon looks very clean and everyone is nice. Cary is very good at her craft and is very friendly and courteous. She always does research and is in the know on the latest and greatest when it comes to skin care. Thanks Cary! read more

Wow! Went in for spa pedicure and shellac manicure. Never have I been to a nail place with such thorough attention to detail. So tired of getting mani/pedis that barely last the next 48 hours and cost as many dollars. The room is tranquil, not a lot of clattering noise and jabbering. The staff is polite and professional and are happy to let you sit back and enjoy without a lot of chit-chat. Definitely going back, although the way the polish is lasting, it might be a while! read more

I love Hands Down. The girls are always very friendly and the environment is very relaxing. I love that this salon specializes in free form acrylics, which means they dont use fake nail tips, this process makes my nails last really long. They really take the time to make sure you are satisfied with your visit, and if you have any special requests like cute designs on your nails, they are more than happy to do it. I got a shellac pedicure almost two weeks ago. So far it still looks ok. I kinda thought it was a little different. Def would get again just might try a different place, $45 for a regular shellac pedicure is kinda steep plus $10 tip. Gonna look For better pricing! read more

They do an excellent job! I go for the dip nails- and this place is not only quick but do a great job. My dip nails lasted one month without any chips or breaks!!! Other places chip and break after 1 week or 2. I was so impressed by how long they lasted. They can take their time or be quick if they need to without sacrificing quality. The ladies here are all very polite and professional. I love that this place is clean. Highly recommend. read more

Hands down is awesome couple for girls and I went here to here mani pedis and eyebrows for my birthday girls night T was so great she was so nice I was even a little late and she still took care of us she called me by my name which was super and they other employees were great too we will definitely be coming back and will suggest this place to others. My nails came out great and my eyebrows too! All three of us left very happy and satisfied. I don't mind the price it was not too much and very clean organized salon so I don't even look at the price with such great people and service thank you so much T was a great bday gift:) read more

i found a coupon online for $45 ($52 normally) for a mani pedi and thought it must be nice since they charged so much--i should've looked online! 3.5 is exactly right. the last place i went to in glendora charged $28 for a mani pedi and here's the difference: *the decor was nicer *the massages are longer (about 10 mins.)--which can be a drawback if you're in a bit of a rush *i got an extra layer of base coat *they remembered to use the nail prep solution (i think it's called something like nail bond) *they wrap your calves with a warm towel after the massage that's about it...definitely not worth an extra $24 in my book. read more

Very nice and clean place. Staff is very nice and helpful. This place does get busy not very much staff is a small place. I would highly recommend making an appointment as a walk in I had to wait 30 minutes to get a pedicure but loved the results. read more

By far the best nail salon I have been to. And unlike other reviewers I dont think $45 for a dip powder manicure is expensive. My nails grow very fast and my dip manicure lasts nearly a month. I have extremely sensitive nail beds and extra care is given to only file manually. The color selection is mind blowing and the service and attention to detail is top notch. You get what you pay for. If you want a truly professional nail experience go to Hands Down. read more

Got french dip nails with Lily and she was amazing! The place is right next to last drop so u can grab some coffee while u get ur nails done. She was quick and efficient and im in love with my nails! I recommend makin an appt they do get busy. The place is newly remolded so its pretty and the massage chairs were comfy read more

Absolutely amazing. Lina the owner does my nails flawless and always on point on what I want. She sculpts her own acrylic from your own nail so they look natural and she never over files. She takes great care of your nails and makes them actually better and stronger. My nails always last so long with her great gel product she uses. She takes a little longer than average but it's because she takes her time and perfects them. I'm always so happy when I leave hands Down and plus they have a great coffee shop next door and they even will bring treats over for you :))))))) read more

Best spa in town. Gel nails are perfected and safe. The staff are nice and respectful. You really feel like you are at a spa when time is spent pampering. I've been to many nail spas in LA. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here. Very reasonably priced. Sat me right when I arrived. Sanitary and clean facility. Excellent massage chair. A pillow for my lap. Beautiful view of the street in Downtown Claremont. I just probably won't come here if I'm ever in a hurry. It took about 2 hours for a mani pedi because he same manicurist did my toes and nails. But since I was not in a hurry, I enjoyed being pampered. It was probably he best looking paint job I've ever received. Overall, I was very pleased. read more
