I have always had positive experiences here! The whole staff is very kind and experienced, and my nails always come out looking great. On my most recent visit, I decided to try dip nails, and I was skeptical at first but I think they came out absolutely beautifully. They are on the pricier side, which is why I deducted a star, but a super convenient, great, local nail spot!

Nothing short about their service , quality and the vibe of their nail salon. First thing I recognized the smell of infused oil relaxing aromatherapy. We requested 5 different nail polish for manicure and pedicure, they could not be more patience and welcoming of our request. I messed up my toe after I left and I went back to ask if they could fix it and they were very happy to do so. It was our first time at Hands Down and I would definitely go back. Prices were not bad for a fancy town like Claremont.

I had never gotten dip powder before, this changed my mind forever!

Stephanie is the best! I now get gel manicures instead of dip. she does not disappoint. I never thought I would be able to go TWO To THREE WEEKS with gel (before I started to come to hands down salon, every time I got gel within that same day they would start to chip) but Stephanie does them so beautifully that my gel manicure last that long. highly recommend her (:

I love this place. They are very friendly and professional. It doesn't matter who you get they all do an amazing job. I am happy with my nails every time I go.

The experience was good, kind people lots of regulars. Very disappointed with how it came out though. Was fairly priced about $65 but I'm gonna have to go get them fixed because I didn't notice how uneven and fat looking they were until I left.

First time going in and I was not disappointed! I have tried three other salons before this one and never left satisfied. Customer service was absolutely top notch. I went in on a whim and had my 11wk old baby with me. Not only did they get me in right away, they were extremely accommodating when it came to me needing to hold my baby. They worked around what I needed and checked in frequently to make sure not only I was good but my daughter as well. I noticed as people walked in who were regulars, they knew everyone's name and greeted them so friendly. Stephanie started my dip manicure and T finished for her (they both did amazing!). I had a picture of what I wanted done and they made it happen! Kim did my pedicure and also did amazing and took her time. I even booked another appointment to come back. Highly recommend!

Okay I have literally never in my life written a yelp review, but I absolutely had to for this nail salon. Seriously one of the best experiences I've ever had getting my nails done. Everyone was SO kind and super helpful. Within the hour there, there were about 7 regulars that came in (which is always a great sign to me) and they all knew each other by name. Anyways, besides the incredibly kind people, my nails look BANGIN' and I love them. Exactly what I wanted. I tried dip for the first time and it looks amazing! Also added extensions. GO HERE!!!!

Chipped gel polish after 72 hours $52 down the drain

I went here on a Friday afternoon, when my usual place had to close unexpectedly due to a family emergency. I walked in and was quickly accepted for an eyebrow wax, then waited about 10-15 minutes for a nail technician to do a gel fill. The technician, Hanah, did a good job overall, she took time & care to shape my nails in the coffin shape I had requested. Her fill technique was much different than my usual place, but they looked good when I left. Although, I felt like she was a little too rough will cuticles, I left with at least 4 fingers bleeding. The 1 star is due 2 things: - mostly that it has been just about 72 hours and the gel has already chipped. I've had gel for about 6 years now, and I have literally NEVER had it chip, even when I was working in a brewery/restaurant (I now work in an office). There is also A LOT of pitting and scuffing in the gel already. - second: the inability to tip on a card/Apple Pay. There was no sign, or if there was it wasn't obvious enough for someone who actually pays attention to detail to notice. When I asked the owner (who rang me up), she said, "there's an ATM behind you"...that costs $1.50 fee, and would require a debit card, which I did not have on me. I had intended on returning this week to tip, but now that I've wasted $52 dollars on a gel fill that lasted less than 72 hours, I will most definitely not be back ever again.

Been coming here for years! And will continue to come! The ladies here do a great job and they are so friendly! They take their time with their pedicure and their foot spa is extremely clean and their seats are also comfy! Parking is a little limited, but that's not a deal breaker. I went here with my two close friends to get our manicures and pedicures done a few days before my wedding and it was an amazing experience! Everyone was so friendly, professional and attentive to our needs! I did the powder dip and it was amazing! The chair with the massage feature was a nice touch as well as the gentle hand massages. It was great that the money transaction can be done via Venmo! Definitely worth the visit and highly recommended! read more

T as well as all of the staff who work there were completely welcoming!! The store is very clean & sanitary. In the last 24 hours I have received compliments from friends, even people i do not know! I love my nails so much that I have been waving at people non-stop so they can notice my nails! Lol. T took her time (her patience is unbelievable) to do a precise job on my nails. Came here for the first time a few weeks ago to get acrylic nails. I made an appointment but ended up waiting 30 minutes in the lobby which is annoying but not anything I cant handle or would write a review over. My nail tech was very nice which I appreciated however, she charged me $70 for my very simple nails. She did a dip powder instead of the regular polish but she gave no heads up that the color I chose(just one that they give in the basket) costs more and the nails didnt last very long. $70 is just way too expensive for a college student so unforuntely I wont be back:( read more

Pros: Friendly staff Nice atmosphere Clean and very nice Large selection of colors Cons: Tried the SNS dip powder big mistake. The color was beautiful but the shape. Full of bubbles and dips. Sadly I need new set. ($50) Update and WARNING!!!! After posting my review I was texted by someone at Hands down apologizing and offering to fix my nails. I was impressed and intended on not only returning but bring my niece for a manicure as well. Until my sister informed me of how our mother was treated when she went in for a gel manicure and pedicure a day or so before. Our mother has RLS which cause her leg muscles to tense up and become painful if in the same position for a long time. Apparently the nail technician was not accommodating or understanding in the least. She sighed loudly and would roll her eyes at my sister if our mother moved multiple times. Which embarrassed our mother and made her feel bad enough to keep apologizing to the nail tech. After hearing this I informed the person who had first contacted me that I would after hearing about the treatment of my mother would not return. That number then text me 14 times. When I did not respond a second number sent an additional 19 text messages. read more

I've gotten my nails done by Tee quite a few times now and she never disappoints! The last time I was in she offered the SNS Powder nail and it lasted me 4 weeks! It left my nails strong and there was no light like with the regular gel. Today I went in and found out they recently got metallic polishes! :) It turned out awesome, Tee always takes her time and does meticulous work. She also mentioned she does foils on your nails too. I'll do that next and keep you updated on how is goes! The whole staff is super friendly and the salon is very clean. I highly recommend Hands Down and Tee or Kim to do your nails (as they are the only two I've had them done it) and they've always turned out well. I would recommend calling to make an appointment although I've been able to walk in before too. read more

Best experience I've had at a nail salon that I can remember! Monica did my manicure, she was so nice and she did an excellent job! Hanna did my pedicure which also came out spectacular. Tanu did my threading... I had never used threading before, but I will from now on! Especially here, she was so quick, and also sincerely nice as well! All in all I loved this place! Finally came in as hoped for a shellac manicure. Walked in on a weekday and was services immediately. Again love that they wrap for 10min before removing the gel so that my nails suffer the least damage. Joey was my manicurist and by far the best attention to cuticles I've had (and I've had a lot of gel/shellac manicures). She took the time to curette my nails so that the polish would be flush with the cuticle and very smooth. She was also patient when I kept harassing her about the shape of my nails. I walked in for a SNS mani and the man who did it rushed it to make sure he could then take in another customer who had an appointment. Never asked what shape I wanted. While he didn't do a bad job overall, he didn't make sure every nail was done correctly and left me with gel stuck all around my thumb nail... I had to go again so they could file it... also, he hurt my cuticules and then was trying to press the skin in with bare hands (which I haven't seen him sanitise) and his dirty nails to prevent it from bleeding and the managed to put gel over it which burned like hell... pretty unsanitary but since I'm not confrontational I didn't say anything but ew ew ew would not recommend!! read more
