Okay sandwiches, overpriced bubble tea with way too much ice. The service at this location is truly horrible. In my 16 years living in NYC, this is the first time that I've actually been yelled at by a server. Why was I yelled at? I ordered a bubble tea and a sandwich, and went to sit at a table in the front. It's Sunday night, so there are maybe 3 other people at the place. Got my bubble tea, quietly sipping it at at the table. Then 5 minutes later I hear "SMALL BUBBLE TEA!!! SMALL BUBBLE TEA!!!" from the back. Having already gotten my bubble tea, I assume that it's probably someone else's order. Not a second later, a lady runs up to me, looking like she's about to lose it. Angrily stares at me and yells "Um, SIR! YOU PICK UP THE ORDER IN THE BACK!!" The cashier later was nice enough to apologize for that girl's behavior, but yelling at a customer who didn't do anything wrong is just not acceptable. read more

I order from here at 8pm. At 9pm my food had not arrived. At 9:15 I called and the waitress Sandy said it was on it's way. Then the manager Michael called back and said they never copied the order down, the kitchen was closed, and I was not getting my dinner. He offered to pay for my next meal, but that was not the problem and in my mind not good customer service. read more

I might still schlep to Chinatown next time I need a banh mi after all. The Former souvlaki joint has migrated east to Vietnam and turned into Hanco's, the 3rd outpost of this mini-chain. As in prior Yelp debates about whether Hanco's prices are worth it, it's simply a matter of convenience. The prime location on Montague Street virtually guarantees lunchtime success, and I'm sure locals are excited about this "exotic" addition to the 'hood. But as someone who has tried various banh mi all around the boroughs, this definitely would not be my first choice as far as quality or quantity, especially not with the 50% price hike. (Note: gentlemen, you will need to order two sandwiches to be full.) Not to mention that, with my unlimited metrocard, I can almost go to Chinatown and back in the eons it took to wait in line, place my order, and wait for my food (true, it's opening week). Then again, as I said, it's a matter of convenience, and I'm sure that factor will win me over at least a few times in the months to come. It's not the worst thing in the world. read more

i'm a sucker for their bubble tea! as a college student with classes nearby and NO job they're going to suck me dry! i always advertise and try to get my friends to try it a lot of them don't try it because it's too "different" culture-wise, i assume...but i force 'em anyway and manage to get a few people to drink em, mwhahaha. YOU MUST TRY THEIR TEA! yelp people i must force you too...get the passion fruit bubble tea, it's the best flavor! i have tried their food but it's too bland for my taste...that's why i put four instead of five but i am tempted to try other things in the menu. I do love the ambiance as well, dimmed lighting with light music in the background to enjoy, i'm always tempted to stick around even though all i have is a drink most of time. Stopped in specifically for some bubble tea and I'm glad I did. The black raspberry bubble tea is the best tea I've ever tasted and I think I've had every flavor. The service wasn't stellar; two girls talked to each and kind of ignored me until I cleared my throat. Minus one star. But whatevs. I got my tea quickly after that. Had the mild Shredded Chicken Bahn mi which was good. Probably would have been better if I had opted for the medium or spicy options but I chickened out (*pun*). But the Iced Passion Fruit Green Tea with Tapioca Pearls was fantastic! They use real tea leaves so the flavor was amazing and the bubbles were the perfect texture. Who the hell pays $4 for a bubble tea? That's pretty damn pricey. But that bahn mi... now that's a tasty sandwich! Went with the classic which came with ground? pork, spicy mayo, ham, pate, cucumber, pickled veg, and cilantro. Unfortunately, there was no headcheese to be found. It was all packed into a respectably sized baguette for the $6 I paid. They offer different levels of spice and the spicy packs a decent kick, although they have sriracha on the side if that's not enough heat for you. I love bubble tea. I scout the trying out bubble tea. I especially like Tea Ren and St Alps. All bubble tea is different in different places but it doesnt make one better than the other. I had the same bubble tea 4 times here before writing a review. The first time it was OK, the second and third times were bad and the last was OK. Its tasteless and watered down. The classic Vietnamese sandwich was divine. Best we've had. Perfect French bread smeared with pate, ham, and ground pork, plenty of daikon and carrot slaw, spicy peppers, just fabulous. I love that Hanco's has so many vegetarian options. Both their fake-chicken and fake-pork banh mi are awesome--so delicious with a perfect balance of flavors and textures. My young daughter loves the rice vermicelli salad with tofu (and the bubble tea, of course). The service is fine, not exceptional but not bad. The upstairs seating area is nice. After having banh mi at a place in Manhattan last week--which did not come close to comparing to Hanco's--I felt compelled to write a review. Go here! It is awesome! read more

This can''t be the most authentic bahn mi in Brooklyn, but I love it nonetheless. The classic sandwich is delicious, the price is right and (depending on who answers the phone), they're willing to deliver on the Fort Greene park side of Flatbush. I've been to the Brooklyn Heights establishment twice when I had jury duty. The tofu sandwich is delicious! I'm a vegetarian and they do have 2 fake meat options, but I got the tofu first and it was so good I got it again. Lots of cilantro made this extra yummy. The bread is delicious, too. Seating is tricky dury lunch hours, but there's a fast turn around. If it's nice out take it the promenade. read more

The sandwiches are excellent and some of the best I've had in New York. I lived nearby and ate here nearly every week and never once was disappointed. As others have pointed out, it is a young crowd, but this didn't really bother me. I just had the most delicious sandwich! It was my first ever Vietnamese sandwich; I got the "classic," spicy. It was amazing. I called in my order and picked it up about 15 minutes later; it was waiting for me when I got there. I ate it at my desk and the bread was really crusty and left lots of crumbs, and now there are crumbs all over my floor. That was the only negative. The shredded chicken roll is amazing and I love their bubble tea. I get it regularly and it tastes great! That said, I would recommend ordering in person if you have allergies. Two days ago I ordered a Taro tea with Soy Milk on Grubhub but when I went to pick it up it was made with skim milk. Sadly I didn't notice until it was too late and I'd already drank a few sips. I was too sick to do more than tell the girl behind the counter that it was wrong. She remade the drink but my allergic reaction was bad enough that I couldn't swallow the tapioca balls and ended up giving it to my friend. I'm a little wary of the bubble tea now, but I'd still recommend it overall. read more

I love this place!! It gets pretty crowded but they have additional seating which not many people seem to notice. I enjoy the staff, and they are very good at getting rid of a big line fast. I walk into the door and they already are preparing my drink. As i am a regular here and always order the same thing. Coffee Bubble Tea.. Delish!!! Their food is always fresh. This place has its ups and downs. I have only tried their bubble teas and bahn mi sandwiches. The bubble tea is somewhat inconsistent and relatively expensive at 4.25 for a medium. However, the tapioca here is one of my favorites. The drink itself is sometimes made a little too sweet. The spicy grilled pork bahn mi is what I usually get. A bit of an acquired taste as I didn't like it the first time I had it, but crave it once in a while now. Isn't really spicy at all, but then again I eat a lot of spicy food. I would have given this place 4 stars had I not tried their classic pork bahn mi sandwich. I would have thrown it out had I not been extremely hungry (yes that bad, kind of tastes like a canned meat sandwich). Then again it's a personal preference. If you have had pho before, do not get it here. I heard it's the "worst pho ever." If you never had pho before like many of their patrons, by all means go ahead as residents of this area seem to enjoy it. read more
