Solid local grindz spot! Friendly, helpful staff with quick service. The karaage chicken hit the spot--crispy, flavorful chicken over rice with a generous portion and classic sides like mac salad and fresh veggies. Everything tasted fresh and satisfying. We also tried a poke bowl that was packed with flavor. Quick, casual, and perfect when you're craving a good local-style meal. Shared space with shimazu shave ice, so if you have room to eat more, grab a shave ice when you're pau!

First off, as a local girl, I've been eating poke bowls forever so I know a good one and let me just say this one was more than good, it was great!! It was $18 for a 2 choice poke bowl and I love the fact that you can choose sushi rice or white rice. Sushi rice for the win! It also comes with namasu and takuan which I LOVE! I got the spicy mayo and ginger shoyu poke. They were both phenomenal and dare I say the best poke I've ever had! It was so fresh and flavorful. Also, the portion size was big! Nowadays, that is hard to come across especially for $18! I'm so glad I found out about this place because I'll definitely be coming here from now on. It's my new fave poke spot!

When you're craving poke but also want a little something extra, Hana Paʻa 2 is the perfect spot. We were warmly greeted by the super aloha owner or worker, who kindly walked us through the entire menu since it was our first visit. Unfortunately, they no longer serve salmon poke as part of the high cost during our January 2026 visit, so I went with an ahi poke bowl with added tako octopus. My husband chose the Shacho mix plate, which he chose with ahi poke, karaage chicken, rice, and mac salad. He loved it and said it was the best of both worlds. My poke bowl was incredibly fresh and delicious, and we enjoyed dining in which they have about 4-5 tables available. The space is shared with Shimazu Shave Ice, though they were closed when we visited. I only wish we had more time in Oahu to come back again!

The people at HanaPa'a are super aloha friendly serving poke and other Hawaiian plates. The cafe is cute with five tables for dine-in. Most people take food to go. You order at the counter. I didn't want poke so John, the clerk, steered me to the Garlic Karaage Chicken. And, wow, it was delicious. The plate was beautiful. The chicken has a dark crispy coating that is slightly sweet with a bit of spice and a sprinkling of Furikake. The meat is tender and juicy. The salad was dressed with a Thai ginger dressing that was refreshing. I selected the brown rice. The Mac salad was really good (not sweet like other Mac salads). The plate had a lot of food and is easily shareable. (I took half home for dinner.) The place has a steady stream of locals buying poke or the garlic chicken. I thought the prices were reasonable. Parking is available in their small private lot. I'd return and definitely recommend. I will be craving the Garlic Chicken.

I came around 2pm on a Tuesday and there were open seats. The seating is limited because they share the space with a shave ice place. Food came out relatively fast for the amount of orders they were getting. Both of the bowls had very fresh ahi and i really like the addition of the pickled vegetables. Portions were also good for the price!

I had a ton of poke during my trip to Hawaii and I think this was one of my top spots I tried. I ended up ordering a poke bowl with the ahi in Hawaiian and shoyu. Fish was fresh, sauce was perfect, and I loved that you could choose sushi rice as a base. I wish I didn't eat as much beforehand so I could have tried some of their other options on the menu. Very close to Waikiki so I highly recommend making the short trip here. They also have a free private parking lot which is a plus in such a busy area.

HanaPa'a 2 was my favorite poke place that I tried over a span of two weeks in Big Island and O'ahu. During my one week in O'ahu, I came here three times. I highly recommend paying them a visit. Recommended: -Ahi Fever - this comes with 3 types of tuna: spicy mayo, furikake seared, and kimchi ahi patty. Servce with rice, greens, and mac salad. Great! I really liked having a sampling of the tuna prepared three different ways, especially the spicy mayo ahi. -Poke: I tried the spicy mayo salmon, spicy chili crunch salmon, garlic shoyu salmon, sweet ginger shoyu ahi, sweet ginger shoyu salmon, and Hawaiian salmon. I really liked all of them (except the Hawaiian was a bit salty for my preference). I also really liked the options to pick 1/2 1/2 for poke bowls and the options for rice/greens. They also have non-poke dishes (both mains and sides/desserts). I liked their haupia and kalua pig bowl; the latter was less salty and oily compared to other other kalua pork that I tried. Service is extremely kind and friendly. There are a few tables and chairs; it's a bit crowded as it's in the same location as Shimazu Shave Ice.

Tonight for dinner I was craving for some kind of fish plate . I remember my sister mentioning that HanaPaa 2 had pretty good poke and plate lunches . So cool I made my way down to Castle St. actually right behind Rainbow Drive inn. HanaPaa is located in the small parking lot entrance on Castle St. Very friendly local guys greeting you once you enter their doors. Counter person explained to me in detail how to order your poke bowl . Starch , sides along with your fish and how you want it prepared. I ordered my wife a Salmon poke bowl which she loves Salmon over sushi rice . I was sold on their Garlic crusted Parmesan Ahi . My plate lunch came with a toss salad along with a Mac salad over sushi rice and 2 nice pieces of garlic crusted Parmesan Ahi. Prices were ok although the sushi rice you can hardly taste the rice vinegar. Next time I'll try their spicy Ahi or Shoyu Ahi . Support local

SOO FRESH SOO DELICIOUS, I am so glad I chose this to be my birthday lunch!! Da best!!! The order was made fast, Oh my goodness!!! Like the fish was supper tasty I can't wait to go back!! So glad they are close by my home and my work. Love that I found my go to when I want to ensure having a great day!! Can't wait to try more of what their menu has to offer. All my coworkers loved the food too. Made for a great birthday lunch. Supper appreciative of the Kulolo Crunch it brought me back to hana bata days when my dad used to bring it home for special occasions. I love the fact I got to support local, and it's even better when the customer service is EXCELLENT!!

We got a couple of poki bowls and a cali crunch bowl. The fish and sauces were great. I'm used to poki bowls coming with veggie options and they don't really have that, although I asked for avocado which they added. I've updated this review after trying more poke places in Hawaii. I think this is standard. I'm used to mainland poke bowls. The fish and sauce were great.

HanaPa'a was the first stop on my itinerary after landing, and it was the best decision! Absolutely delicious food to begin our trip in Honolulu. Shoutout to Amanda & Felix' (on Youtube) recommendation~ My bf and I shared an ahi fever and it was nothing short of amazing... and I miss this a lot lol. The poke and seared ahi were really fresh, and the kimchi patty was so flavorful and moist. Appreciated everything else that was included in this plate like the salad bed under the seared ahi, mac salad, pickled veg and pickled ginger. Incredible textures and flavors throughout the plate, and the portion was great! The person helping us order was sooo kind - he was so helpful and patient when we were ordering, and when the orders came out, he pointed out each element of our plates/bowls and labeled the container lids with the fish + name of the order. :) Definitely coming back here when I have the chance!

This place was one of our favorites spots we ate at in Oahu! We wished we could've went back for a second time while on our trip. Highly recommend the nachos!! The service was fast and friendly and the ambiance was chill

Plenty of options for sandwiches and salads (and maybe more options, just what I noticed). I got the tuna sandwich and added a slice of pepper jack. I said no mayo or mustard, though I'd probably recommend mayo. There are so many veggies that it needs a little sauce. The veggies make you feel like you're eating something super healthy! Skipping this place would be a crime. And prices are very reasonable for what you get. It's a hidden gem, tucked inside the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort just to the right of Duke's. I've been here many times and have ordered both smoothies and sandwiches. Let me tell you, the bread is incredibly soft, the greens are crisp and fresh, and the protein is ALWAYS tasty. The team works hard to craft your sandwich every time, and I always get a warm "thank you" when I pick mine up (I swear I got into a thank-you battle once, and of course, they won). I highly recommend the tuna sandwich. It's seasoned perfectly and generously filled with tuna. The greens are always piled high. Shredded carrots, spinach leaves, and more sprouts than you'd think possible. It's healthy and DELICIOUS. I usually add avocado, and the sandwich with avocado comes out to $13.75, which is a great deal for Waikiki. Oh! and you get a little skewer of two pineapple slices! It's cute, refreshing, and perfectly ripe every time. The last smoothie I ordered was the Avocado Green Island. It's made with mango, avocado, spinach, banana, greek yogurt, and coconut milk. It's creamy, slightly tangy, and absolutely delicious. Highly recommend. I've also tried their chicken salad sandwich (money!) and my favorite, the Captain Salad. I recommend getting it with Caesar dressing. The brand of ranch they use isn't really my thing. They also have a homemade balsamic vinagarette that sounds amazing. The salad is huge, topped with turkey and generous crumbles of bacon. I'm telling you, they're serving hit after hit after hit at this spot. Go and enjoy ASAP!

This place was just two blocks away, so we braved the November misty rain and consistent wind through the buildings to make it over here. To be fair, this seemed more like a Vietnamese coffee joint and a Banh Mi place... so maybe coming here for pho wasn't our best idea. They had two kinds available that night-- beef and chicken. Since chicken pho is not something I'm willing to try, we both ordered up the dac biet. The broth was bland with a thin and unpleasant veil of grease along the top that congealed quickly on the rim of the bowl. It wasn't hot enough, or maybe the pre-cooked and chilled noodle block they poured it over cooled it off. Meat was chewy and low quality. The sprouts and basil were soggy and wilted. Honestly, it was a get up and leave kind of thing. The whole place was just dingy and didn't feel great.
